You know, one of the most fundamental differences I've found in terms of 'normal parts of everyday scenery' between Singapore and pretty much everywhere else is the presence of electricity towers and cables. I'm talking about those tall thing made of metal lattice with a dozen or so cables suspended between them. In my mind it makes sense that a city state could better afford doing without them than a country like Australia or even just Malaysia, but where I'm currently sitting in a coach bus in Johor Bahru it's a strange thing to think that I wouldn't have seen one of these things until I left Singapore.
