The Live In Triumph (LIT) 2024 Mr/Miss/Mrs Bharat Fashion Pageant was a memorable event, blending the allure of fashion with a powerful message on mental health. Themed ‘Unmasking Depression,’ the pageant was held on August 15, 2024, from 4 PM at Hotel Crowne Plaza, Gurgaon.

Live In Triumph was created to raise awareness about critical mental health issues, focusing on the belief that if they stopped depression, they could prevent a cascade of other mental health problems, including suicide, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and Alzheimer’s. This year’s theme, ‘Unmasking Depression,’ underscored the importance of addressing depression early to “Nip it in the bud.”

The event was organised by My Precious Life and Belle Events, led by Anuradha Das, a philanthropist, author, motivational speaker, and director with her own movie production company, Rising Eagle Productions, based in the US. Esteemed guests and speakers contributed to the event’s impact:

This year, LIT 2024 aimed to deepen the conversation around depression, promoting early intervention and comprehensive support. While last year’s pageant had Mr. and Mr.s titles, this year, the event was expanded to include junior, elegance (ages 60+) and crown (who have overcome depression) categories. Various speakers, including doctors, unmasked depression through their keynote speeches and panel discussions. Pegasus Project : Names Revealed

Amnesty International worked to analyze the phones of 10 Indians. Each phone showed signs of either attempted hacking or successful compromise.

The presence of a number within the database does NOT necessarily indicate that the target's device was successful. Without evidence from forensic analysis, it's impossible to tell if there were successful hacks or attempts. The list's names have been distinguished. Potential targets are those whose numbers appear on the list but whose devices have not been forensically analysed by Amnesty. If the phones of potential targets show evidence of successful hacking attempts, then they are classified as such.

161 names were revealed that were potential targets or targets for surveillance by clients at the NSO Group. The data was distributed over multiple stories. They are all listed below. This list does not include names that were disclosed by Pegasus project partners. Lets see Pegasus India List.

Journalists

At least 40 journalists that were either surveillance targets or targets. Seven journalists had their phones examined by an investigator. Five showed evidence of Pegasus infection.

1. M.K. Venu Founding editor. The phone of the victim was also forensically examined and Pegasus-related traces were discovered.

2. Sushant Singh:A former journalist for Indian Express, who now writes about national security. Amnesty came to the conclusion that his phone was compromised following a forensic investigation.

Protesting farmers’ mahapanchayat on Wednesday to muster support: Top 10 developments

NEW DELHI: Farmers’ “mahapanchayat” would be held in Haryana’s Jind district on Wednesday to muster support for their ongoing protest against the three central farm laws. On the other side, the issue of farmers’ protest rocked both houses of Parliament during the ongoing budget session. The government said the aggressive violence by the farmers on Republic Day during their tractor parade forced the Delhi Police to resort to tear gas and water canon. Here are the key developments of the day: 1. Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) BKU leader Rakesh Tikait will attend a farmers’ “mahapanchayat” in Haryana’s Jind district on Wednesday to gather support for the agitation against the centre’s new farm laws. Elaborate arrangements have been put in place at Jind’s Kandela village for the event, Sarv Jatiya Kandela Khap head Tekram Kandela said. Besides Tikait, several khap leaders will take part in it, he said. It will be a big gathering to muster support for the farmers’ agitation, Kandela said. The Kandela khap, which had spearheaded a farmers’ agitation in Haryana nearly two decades ago, has lent its support to farmers against the new farm laws. Several other khaps too are backing the agitation. Tekram Kandela said at Wednesday’s event, issues including the demand to repeal the farm laws and a legal guarantee of the minimum support price will be taken up. 2. Haryana BKU leader Gurnam Singh Chaduni reached Surewala Chowk in Hisar district’s Uklana and addressed a group of farmers, where he sought their support for the countrywide “chakka jam” called by farmer unions on February 6. Farmer unions on Monday announced to block national and state highways for three hours in protest against the Internet ban in areas near their agitation sites and the alleged harassment meted out to them by the authorities. Chaduni also criticised the government’s move of parking buses to seal the main entry points, putting up multi-layer barricades and checkpoints at the Delhi’s Ghazipur border, the new focal point of the farmers’ agitation. He said the farmers’ agitation will continue till the time the government does not withdraw the farm laws. 3. The government asserted in Lok Sabha that it was ready to discuss issues related to farmers both inside and outside Parliament amid vociferous protests by the opposition which forced repeated adjournments of both the Houses. Rajya Sabha was adjourned for the day on Tuesday without transacting substantial business as the Congress and other opposition members created an uproar demanding discussion on the issue of farmers’ protest over the three new farm laws. Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar told Lok Sabha after the first adjournment that the Modi government is always committed to discussing the farmer issues. “Government is ready to discuss issues related to farmers inside and outside Parliament,” he said amid sloganeering by opposition members. Tomar’s reply came after Congress leader in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury claimed that 170 farmers have died during the ongoing agitation against the three contentious farm laws. 4. The Rajya Sabha was first adjourned for about 40 minutes till 10:30 am, then till 11:30 am and then to 12:30 pm. After the President’s Address to both Houses of Parliament on Friday and presentation of the Union budget on Monday, Tuesday was the first regular sitting of Parliament. When the upper house re-assembled at 12:30 pm, protesting members again trooped into the Well raising slogans, forcing deputy chairman Harivansh to adjourn proceedings for the day. 5. In the Lok Sabha, opposition members mainly from the Congress, DMK and the Trinamool Congress rushed to the well of the House demanding repeal of the three “black” laws. Members of the Shiv Sena were seen raising slogans from the aisles. Former Union minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal of the Shiromani Akali Dal was also seen holding a poster demanding repeal of the contentious agriculture legislation. Speaker Om Birla urged the members to return to their seats and follow the COVID-19 protocol. He said that in the ongoing Question Hour, questions related to farmers were listed and members can raise their issues at that time. The lower house was adjourned due to disruptions at around 4.10 pm, 5.00 pm and for the day a little after 7.00 pm. 6. The home ministry informed the Lok Sabha that the Delhi Police was forced to use tear gas and water canon as a last resort during the tractor rally on the Republic Day because the farmers protesting against the three agri laws were “aggressively” resorted to rioting, damage to property and used “criminal force” against public servants. Union minister of state for home G Kishan Reddy, in a written reply, also said the farmers were not following the COVID-19 protocols – they neither maintained social distancing nor wore masks despite gathering in large numbers. Reddy said the Delhi Police was left with no option but to use tear gas, water cannons and mild force to control the crowd. The Lok Sabha was also informed that 39 cases were registered between September and December 2020 against farmers protesting against the three contentious agri laws at Delhi’s borders. 7. Residents of three villages in Ghaziabad have boycotted and banned entry of their local MLA Nand Kishor Gurjar for “disrespecting” farmers, days after he was accused of intimidating protesters at the ongoing farmer’s agitation against new farm laws at Ghazipur. Banners declaring opposition to the BJP MLA have come up in Banthla, Behta and Afzalpur Nistoli villages, where locals and panchayats have made the boycott announcements in the last few days. Nand Kishor, however, has denied the allegations and claimed that Bharatiya Kisan Union leader Rakesh Tikait, who is leading the protest at Ghazipur border, has falsely accused him and is “misleading” the country over the issue. The MLA also offered to resign from the post if allegations about his presence at the protest site are proved. 8. A delegation of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha met Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and urged him for a judicial enquiry into the alleged “conspiracy” against farmers protesting centre’s farm laws. The morcha leaders in a press conference said that the Delhi government informed them that 115 farmers arrested by police were in Tihar jail and they demanded formation of a medical board to examine them. The leaders said that the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) formed a legal team on Monday and started working on Tuesday to assist those who are missing or lodged in jail. On Tuesday, the legal team met Kejriwal and other leaders and demanded a judicial probe into the matter. The legal team has given a representation so that everything comes out before the people, the leaders said. 9. Agriculture minister Narendra Singh Tomar replied in the negative when asked in the Lok Sabha if the government proposes to give compensation to the families of farmers who have died during the ongoing agitation against new farm laws. The minister was replying to a written question by several Lok Sabha MPs related to dialogue with farmer organisations. Tomar said some of the farmers’ unions and their members have been agitating against the newly-enacted farm laws. When asked specifically if the government was aware that a “number of farmer protesters have died or fallen ill” while agitating, Tomar said the government during discussion with these farmers’ unions “appealed many times that children and elders including women should be requested to go home in view of the cold and COVID situation and other hardships.” On whether the government proposes to give compensation to the families of the farmers who have died during the agitation, the minister replied: “No Sir”. 10. Delhi Police Commissioner SN Srivastava defended the heightened security measures at city borders, saying the force has “strengthened” barricades so that they cannot be broken again. With multi-layered barricading, iron nails on road, barbed wires, iron rods between cemented barriers and deployment of DTC buses and extra personnel on ground, the tremendous security cover at and near the farmers’ protest locations have now become sites of unusual attraction. The strengthened security measures at the agitation sites across the borders come after the violence during the Republic day tractor parade by protesting farmers’ in which over 500 security personnel were injured. On asked about the security measures, Srivastava told reporters in Pitampura (outer district of Delhi Police) that he was “surprised” that nobody raised questions when protesters attacked policemen during the Republic Day tractor rally.
