By engaging directly with fans and industry professionals, artists can build a strong and loyal following that transcends digital streams and recorded tracks.
The Importance of Performing Live
Performing live is a unique aspect of being a musician that cannot be replicated through recordings alone. It provides an opportunity to demonstrate your musicianship, stage presence, and ability to connect with an audience in real-time. For many artists, live performances are the primary way to earn a living through ticket sales, merchandise, and exposure to new fans.
Tips on Booking Gigs and Performances

Eye Contact: Make eye contact with different audience members to create a personal connection.
Talk to the Audience: Share stories or anecdotes between songs to keep the audience engaged.
Encourage Participation: Invite the audience to sing along or clap to the rhythm.
Be Authentic: Be yourself on stage. Authenticity can resonate more deeply with your audience than a perfect performance.

Ticket Sales: A significant portion of income for many artists comes from ticket sales. Performing regularly can ensure a steady income.
Merchandise Sales: Selling merchandise such as T-shirts, posters, and albums at live shows can be a lucrative side income.
Sponsorship and Brand Deals: Successful live performers often attract sponsorship deals and brand collaborations, adding to their revenue streams.
How to Promote Your Live Performances
Promotion is essential to ensure a good turnout at your shows. Here are some promotional strategies:
Social Media: Use platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter to announce and promote your shows.
Posters and Flyers: Distribute posters and flyers in local areas to attract a local audience.

Shankar Mahadevan obviously didnt sing breathless for the entire 6 minutes. Over 3000 people from different parts of Bangalore as well as the rest of the country gathered to celebrate the spirit of music.ĭuring the closing ceremony of the fest, DJ and independent artist Nikhil Chinapa announced that the next edition of Storm will take place in December in Coorg later this year.īusiness Standard has always strived hard to provide up-to-date information and commentary on developments that are of interest to you and have wider political and economic implications for the country and the world. The latter crooned several of his own hits such as "Maa" (Taare Zameen Par) and few more songs. Tucker and Mahadevan mesmerized thousands of audience with a memorable jugalbandi performance. That album went on to get over 10 million hits in a very short period of time.
