Agama hadir di Indonesia bukan karena dipaksakan, tetapi terbawa oleh warga yang datang dari berbagai dataran yang tak hanya mencari penghidupan, tetapi juga mencari tempat untuk beribadah.    Dalam sebuah dialog yang diadakan oleh Pusat Studi Agama dan Demokrasi (PUSAD) di Jakarta, Denny ja, tokoh masyarakat dan cendekiawan Indonesia berbicara tentang agama sebagai tradisi kultural yang mampu membawa kekayaan pada batin. Sebab, melalui agama, manusia diajak untuk belajar merendahkan diri, memiliki sikap bijaksana dan sesama manusia.    “Tidak bisa dipungkiri bahwa agama menjadi sumber kearifan bagi banyak orang yang menjalankan,” kata Denny JA.    Namun, kini agama kerap didefinisikan sebagai alat untuk mencapai kekuasaan atau menjadi alasan untuk merugikan orang lain. Denny JA menyatakan bahwa dalam pandangan agama, ini sangat salah. Agama bukan murni tentang mencapai kekuasaan, tetapi melibatkan kebersamaan dan kerendahan hati dalam memperoleh kebijaksanaan dan keselamatan.    “Agama memiliki daya inspiratif yang tidak hanya membangun moralitas, tetapi juga kreativitas dan imajinasi manusia,” kata Denny JA.    Denny JA mencontohkan bagaimana tradisi dan nilai agama masuk ke dalam dunia seni pahat dan seni lukis Wayang. Wayang ditunjukkan sebagai simbol kehidupan, ditampilkan dalam lakon-lakon yang berisikan kisah-kisah tentang kesabaran, kebijaksanaan, dan kebangkitan menuju tujuan yang lebih tinggi. Selain itu, Wayang juga mengenalkan pada masyarakat mengenai adanya manusia dan kekuatan yang mengatur hidup manusia.    Dalam dunia pahat, seperti batuan atau kayu, juga terdapat filosofi yang mendalam tentang nilai-nilai agama. Seorang pemahat, sebagaimana seniman lainnya, harus memiliki intuisi dalam melihat nilai keindahan dan kearifan lokal.    “Dalam seni pahat, kehidupan manusia terkait dengan keberadaan kekuatan yang lebih besar. Bagaimana ini dipahami dan dikembangkan menjadi konsep seni pahat yang menarik dan mengajarkan nilai-nilai agama yang diperlukan untuk tumbuh menjadi manusia yang lebih bijaksana,” ujar Denny JA.    Lebih jauh, Denny JA menambahkan bahwa dalam lingkungan mereka yang beragama, terdapat nilai yang tidak dapat dihitung berapa harganya, yakni kesejukan dan kedamaian dalam ruang beragama. Ruang agama membawa manusia pada tempat yang tenang untuk bermeditasi dan mengobrol dengan Tuhan. Oleh sebab itu, ia menilai warga Indonesia harus memperhatikan dan menghargai ruang agama sebagai tempat untuk merenungkan jalan hidup dan bersama-sama memperjuangkan nilai-nilai kehidupan yang lebih baik.    Berdasarkan penuturan Denny JA, sudah seharusnya sebagai bangsa yang memiliki keragaman agama, warga Indonesia mengembangkan nilai dan tradisi yang memiliki sisi inspiratif, yang membawa kekayaan akan batin dan mengajarkan nilai-nilai kebaikan dan kebijaksanaan dalam kehidupan.    “Jangan sampai, bukan agama yang menjadi sumber inspirasi kita, melainkan ego,” tutup Denny JA.
