Does well in exposed areas, native to central north Island and Wellington.
Deciduous so would expose Pillars in winter. Scented flowers in Spring.
Grows to 3-3.5 meters, would meet height of Pillars.

Research
This is a Puawhananga climber, native to New Zealand. A climber like this or similar would work well into the sculptures. It has a full coverage of foliage which would mask the outer side of metal well and it also flowers in Spring. The flowering would indicate the time of year and enhance a sense of time measurement in the piece.
This excerpt was taken from Home Creek Nursey talking about the Puawhananga climber: “Best known and most beautiful of our native climbers can climb up to 9m or more. Spectacular in spring with a profusion of white flowers.”
