Tarot cards with Pokémon

I decided to do a series of drawings imagining tarot cards with Pokémon, here are the first 3 I did

ok reading this card makes me think that this might be a self fufilling prophecy situation, where you're digging urself into a hole ("it makes a conical pit...") there's also something to be said with the "Inviting trap" move, which gets me thinking that there's an avoidable but difficult to resist situation coming your way. like how during fights, sometimes something can be said that shouldn't, but it feels good to say it in the moment kinda thing?

Sand tomb also makes me think of how in a roommate disagreement, both parties lose their ability to feel safe and/or comfortable in their home environment which is something to keep in mind

the weakness to water makes me think that emotions should stay out of the situation and it should be confronted logically if / when it comes up.

Little tarot card (might be the start of a set) based on giratina. I also started with Arcanas:

VII (regidrago and regieleki)

XVI (regirock, regice and registeel)

XII (hoopa)

VI (landorus, thundurus, tornadus and Enamorus)

chcards are not completely meant to have the same meanings as the classic Arcana but will represent different legendary pokemon. Even if the XV Arcana is the Devil and I chose Giratina for it, it doesn't mean that they have the same meaning, though they might have, still searching the lore for the actual descriptions. Giratina would mean redemption, vengeance, fickleness. When turned upside down it would mean violence, conflict, and change through defeat.

(I might make these illustrations into actual cards for myself, but that's a very fickle chance, I will post them if they ever come to life but right now you only get the illustrations) of course if someone wants to make these cards for themselves once the job is done (I will most likely scan these once they are all done(if they are all done) and post the digital version) they are welcome to post that and tag me. Also, the photo does not give the perfect idea of how it looks like, so it's actually better IRL.

I should really get into digital art, but it's too hard to do anything decent right now and I am afraid to leave my comfort zone with traditional. I do own a graphic tablet and a pretty decent drawing software (krita) but I never really got into it, so I keep doing traditional art for now (just noticed that I changed topic completely, but it's okay)

Pictured: Loop being extremely normal as they lay in their shallow (homemade) grave as they meditate on existence and also if they have annoyed the Researcher enough THIS time for her to murder them and bury them alive.

(Spoilers - they did not annoy her even CLOSE to that much.)

And there is the required reverse image of Odile arriving - she's had a LONG day (i.e. previous loop), and due to this it will take ten minutes before she even acknowledges the shallow grave Loop is laying in, as she was distracted complaining about what Siffrin just did to annoy her.

I'd say there's context for all of that, because like...there IS context? Here's the link to the series of fics that HAS that context even! But also...even with context...can't say that it's going to make any of this less weird.

Mostly Odile is looping because due to Loop's wish the universe got rewritten to make Siffrin's repression and emotional issues (the ones bad enough to get him stuck in a time loop in the game) 'someone else's' problem...or at least that's Loop's best theory atm!

Regardless, context or not, I'm quite happy with how the pics came out, and figured I might as well post them here too.

The Fool // The Lovers // The Emperor

A collaboration with @lil--nuggett. We asked ourselves. What if these two were Tarot cards? What would they be? And here they are.

I did the card art while nugget did the borders. It was super fun to work on!

Descriptions of the cards and symbolism below!

The Fool.

Upright, the fool represents new beginnings and spontaneity or a leap of faith. While in reverse it can represent naivety, folly, and poor judgement.

The Emperor

Upright, the Emperor represents authority and leadership or a father figure. But in reverse it can read as a control freak or a loss of authority.

The Lovers

Upright, the Lovers represent, well, partnerships and falling in love, but they also represents crossroads and choices. In reverse, the Lovers can be read as disharmony or imbalance, but also as romantic trouble. Moreover, in this card Nugget and I decided to give their offerings to one another meaning. Maxie is giving Archie an apple, a fruit associated with knowledge, while Archie is giving Maxie a white rose, a rose that symbolizes young love and innocence. In short, Maxie is telling Archie to "get a brain" while Archie is telling Maxie to "have a heart."
