“Listen, I’ve lived up north- it’s cold, it’s wet, your Southern California ass does not want it.”

“You’ve lived in New York, you had all that shit off the ocean that fucked you over.” Gwendolyn looked casually over a menu as Kevin leveled Ben the most ‘you’re an idiot’ look he’d managed that year. Was still early though.

“You trying to argue that we were frozen and covered in snow due to lake effect,” he said, nearly growled. “Could maybe argue that for the city, but I spent too damn long in Binghamton for that to fly.”

“We’ve been to South Dakota,” Ben said, gesturing at Gwendolyn who just shot back a ‘don’t drag me into this’ look, “it was fine.”

“That’s beside the point.”

“Anyway,” Gwendolyn finally said with a sigh, “is this something you’re actually planning, or just thinking about?” Kevin pulled out his phone as her cousin burst into a grin.

“I’m planning,” Ben said. “It’s a nice area, puts me near the Plumber Base out there, and it’s centrally located.”

“Well, if you’re looking in the Mt Rushmore area specifically, at least there’s some nice parks to go check out.”

“So, I’m trying to decide if I want to buy a place or have something built.”

“I mean, you aren’t hurting for money, you could always buy something and then build later when you’re more established.”

“I could, but it feels like it’d be a waste. I want a home to go back to after hero stuff, ya know?”
