FINAL THOUGHT BEFORE I ACTULLY GO BACK AND STUDY but PERSONALLY i think it would have been cool if they added further on abel's flashbacks, like watching the progression of abel slowly becoming so fixated on helena. ig to me the only explanation for abel at the ending was "it was the witch's curse that made him lose himself" so i just feel that i wouldve liked to see a tad bit more of just watching this man grovel in his desperation or just. slowly lose his sanity to the curse. idk

Westley, or Dread Pirate Roberts, is from the classic 1980s Princess Bride movie. Then there's Corsair, from the X-Men franchise. In becoming a pirate himself, Westley trained with the original Dread Pirate Roberts. He was smart enough, strong enough, and skilled enough with a sword to overcome all three of Prince Humperdinck's hired challenges. We know he's a skilled swordsman, can fight, uses his intellect, can develop a long-term plan, and has the patience and determination to pull it all off. He's quite the challenge. Corsair is a pirate of a different kind. He's the leader of the galaxy-hopping Starjammers. Before that, though, he was Major Christopher Summers, father to Cyclops and Havoc. Though he's not a mutant himself, he's brave enough to lead a team of aliens into a variety of intense situations. Corsair is older than Westley, but he's trained in hand-to-hand combat from his time in the U.S. Air Force and he can wield a sword thanks to his time with the Shi'ar. While Westley isn't super powered either, I think he does have the advantage here. His training, his fighting, and his younger age will pay off. Corsair is tough, and he's got a few more advanced weapons, but he's shown in the past that he gets into trouble and sometimes only gets out of it because of luck. Winner: Westley, Dread Pirate Roberts

ROUND 3, MATCH 5!
All propaganda and what each competitor is from under the cut
Trafalgar D. Water Law (Once Piece)
Law is a genocide survivor who saw his parents' dead bodies along with experiencing a whole bunch of other messed up stuff (his sister burning to death, the people of his country being shot for being poisoned by their own government, being terminally ill, escaping the genocide by hiding under a pile of dead bodies, etc etc). After all this shit, he eventually got forcibly adopted by this one guy and dragged around the world looking for a cure for his illness. Right when Law started to trust and love his new caretaker, he is also brutally murdered in front of him. Law's life goal for the next decade is to get revenge on the person who killed his adoptive father. Vote for him bc he needs a goddamn win for once in his life. He is the people's princess and the narrative's favorite punching bag. Also, his depressed, PTSD-ridden autistic swag and scoliosis realness have captivated me body and soul
His biological parents were killed (before his eyes, by the governement) when he was 10(?). He then joined a bunch of pirates, knowing he wouldn't have much time (and will) left to live anyway. There he was sort of adopted by the Big Bad Pirate's brother, who managed to save his life, only for said brother to be killed (more or less before Law's eyes, by the Big Bad Pirate), when he was 13. You could say he was orphaned twice.
He’s literally got the double orphan special (Parents died and then the guy who took him in after them died too) that’s a 50% increase in orphannedness above your standard orphan. He’s also cool as fuck.
Law's parents were already on death row along with him and his younger sister due to a disease that shortens the life span of a person. The disease can only be passed down genetically and has afflicted everyone in the town that he has grown up in. Due to the sudden outbreak and unknown nature of the disease to the rest of the world panicked and the government closed off his city, killing everyone there. That is how his first set of parents died when he was 10, I think. Still then Law would later join a pirate crew where he would eventually be taken away 2-3 years later by Corazon, marine working undercover as a pirate in order to take down this brother, who is the captain of crew Law joined. Corazon took him in order to cure Law's disease which he still had and to get him away from Doflamingo, his brother. Over the course of 6 months the two became close with Corazon essentially becoming a father figure to Law. I am simplify this but at some point of Doflamingo catches on to Corazon being a double agent and finds him. Doflamingo then proceeds to find Corazon and shoot him in front of a chest that Law was hiding in.
Law has faced many hardships since he was a child, but used his experiences to become an extremely powerful doctor. His pirate crew theme and his Devil Fruit ability are all owed to his adoptive father. Law acts really gruff and serious most of the time, initially seeming like a cool, calculating character and feared swordsman… but one second around the Straw Hats and you quickly see just how silly he really is. He hates bread. He collects coins. He is obsessed with ninjas and superhero comic books. In one arc he just fucked around with his powers and INVENTED harpies and centaurs. Oh, and his First Mate is a polar bear. What could be better than that?
The government ordered to kill everyone in Law's country due to everyone getting "fantasy lead poisoning" disease, which was wrongfully thought to be contagious stroked. Law's family was living at the hospital when they got attacked, his parents (who were doctors) got killed and the hospital got set on fire with his little sister inside. He managed to fled the country hiding in a pile of corpses and ended up joining a pirate crew lead by Doflamingo. Law knew he had the disease and it was going to kill him in three years. Doflamingo's brother, Rosinante took Law hospital to hospital to find a cure but they always rejected him thinking the disease was contagious. Then they learned that someone had offered Doflamingo a devil fruit that could grant him immortality. The fruit could also cure Law so Rosinante stole it and made Law eat it. He then made sure Law could escape Doflamingo and got killed by his brother.
dude spent his childhood getting thrown out of windows, while dying from a deadly disease (that was eventually cured) but while he was still showing symptoms of the disease no one would go near him out of fear and disgust, save for his father figure.
nothing can ever go right for this man. its fucking hilarious in the series and makes for some wonderful angst content. i want everyone who has not watched or read One Piece to know that, for half of his 'main' arc, he's carried around like a potato sack by MULTIPLE people. he is a damsel in despair. he didn't even need to be carried, he honestly could've walked, but he had to save that energy so he could take the like 17 lead bullets out of him. he's always getting shot or thrown out a window and he's severely injured more often than not. he's also a doctor/surgeon, one that should be able to cure incurable diseases, yet his pathetic loserboy ass is too busy being emo to worry about the several gunshot wounds and internal bleeding. god help this man but also don't because honestly it's really fucking funny
Ok, FIRST, when he was a tiny frog-disecting little kid, him and his family and island contacted a disease equivalent to cancer BUT his fam didn't die from that. No, no, his parents got gunned down by the military and his little sis was burned alive with the rest of his house, so, yeah, very traumatic, horrific in a way that makes you very angry at yourself and life and want to oh I don't know, kill everyone and everything possible until the day you die, which won't be long because you have cancer after all. Later, after joining a mafia/cult/gang, Law meets Corazon who after like 2 years kidnaps him to try and get him healed and so they spend the next 6 months bonding, WEEEEEE!! Wait, no, NOT weeee because Cora who is now his father-figure DIES having protected and saved him, and thus bruv becomes orphaned not once, not thrice, but TWO very traumatic times! If this isn't an orphan, idk what is……
Anthony Lockwood (Lockwood and Co)
Lockwood (he's known by his surname mostly) is the mysterious, daredevil and charming founder of Lockwood and Co., a detective agency specialised in protecting people from angry -and sometimes sort of hungry- ghosts in a world where they're rampant. His agency is starting small despite Lockwood bragging it's the best in London but get more and more recognition as the series progress and the agents composing them meet success (when they're not on the verge of dying). Lockwood has open manners but hid his painful past from his coworkers to protect himself. He and George, the first teenager he recruited, are quite stunned by Lucy, a country girl who fled to London after disaster striked in her hometown. Thanks to her talent, she quickly becomes known as one of the best ghost fighter in London and finds her place in the small team despite having the same determination to hide her past than Lockwood, which draws him close to her, making George jealous, but Lockwood's manifest good skills in leadership and the three of them become fast friends while unravelling secret truths and risking their lives repeatedly
He has a lot of trauma and a lot of pain but he always smiles and always has a warm and polite attitude; he’s so protective of the ones he loves that it overrides his suicidal tendencies; at the end of the series he starts to heal from his past; he’s hot but has only two braincells.

From Zutara to Sokkla - Narrative Framing and Hypocrisy
Something that boggles me about the fandom is the complete double standard between Zuko and Sokka vs Katara and Azula.
A pretty noticeable example is how we frame the infamous “I’ll save you from the pirates” scene versus the Day of Black Sun.
The infamous pirates scene is often lauded (or condemned) as the birth of Zutara. Fans allege the tension between Zuko and Katara is palpable, and that their attraction is clear.
But let’s consider:
Tumblr media
Katara isn’t a realized bender yet. She can’t defend herself. She’s surrounded by hardened adult criminals with weapons who have it out for her, and two firebenders (like the man who killed her mother!) who have been pursuing her doggedly, one of whom has shown he is quick to use violence even against civilians and the elderly.
Zuko dangles Katara’s necklace in front of her, the only item she has left of her mother, and threatens to take it away forever if she doesn’t sell out her friends.
If you want to read romance in this harrowing scene, feel free. It’s fiction and I’m not the morality police. Have fun!
What bothers me is the hypocrisy in how people frame this scene by comparison:
Tumblr media
Consider this: Azula can’t bend. She’s unarmed. She’s pinned to the wall and has no means of escape. Her enemy is armed, is the architect of this invasion, has an army outside ready to follow him, and is currently flanked by an unstoppable earthbender and the friggin Avatar!
Azula is using herself as bait to protect her father (and ostensibly Zuko) knowing her life would be in terrible danger for minimum of 8 minutes. During which the enemy can do anything to her. The Fire Nation has done a lot of harm and there are surely many soldiers out there who would love to take their revenge on the Fire Nation’s pretty little princess who conquered the “impenetrable” capital of the Earth Kingdom.
The show goes out of its way to inform us that Azula is an expert at hiding her emotions. She can even fool Toph’s lie detector. Why?
Many people misinterpret this as a sign that Azula is an emotionless sociopath or whatever ableist pop-sci ideas they have about ASPD.
In reality, it’s the opposite. Azula being an expert at hiding her feelings is made clear so that we understand why she doesn’t look terrified, or vulnerable, or sad, or hurt until the finale when she finally cracks and her facade slips.
All she has at her disposal to protect herself is her wits (she had a knife and some Dai Li, but she has neither by this point). She smartly uses what she knows about Sokka to exploit his weakness and buy herself time. She’s so good at getting under his skin (which takes a sophisticated level of weaponized empathy) that even after he figures out what she’s doing, Sokka still can’t help himself.
This is all she can do to protect herself and her father. We as the audience know that Sokka and Toph aren’t going to kill or maim her, but Azula doesn’t!
So why in the world was this scene received as traumatic for Sokka?
Fans will claim that Azula’s mind games in this scene left Sokka with lasting trauma. That this is emotional abuse.
But who is the one pinned to the wall with no way to defend herself? Who is the one with weapons to threaten her with, and powerful allies who have it out for her?
If Sokka experienced any lasting trauma from this altercation, he sure never showed it! Sokka never seems to think much about Azula at all outside of wanting a rematch when it’s presented at the Boiling Rock. And even that is due to his feelings of inadequacy after the invasion. He even makes fun of Suki for being captured by Azula! Doubt he would do that if she had genuinely been tortured or if Sokka had been so traumatized by this scene.
Tumblr media
Suki: Are you trying to get on my bad side?
Meanwhile, Katara does seem to have lasting trauma over her repeated altercations with Zuko. She talks about how he chased them all around the world threatening them. She refuses to trust him after he betrays her and fears he will get Aang killed. Zuko did hire an assassin.
Tumblr media
In what universe can we read Zuko and the pirates threatening a helpless Katara as “romantic” but the scene with Sokka and Toph threatening a helpless Azula as “traumatic for Sokka”?
Only a universe where we have already subconsciously decided we are on Zuko and Sokka’s side.
These scenes can only be read that way if we have already decided Zuko isn’t that bad regardless of how Katara feels about what he does to her, and that Azula is pure evil regardless of what anyone does to her.
It’s a world where both Azula and Katara’s feelings are ignored.
If you want to read the pirate scene as romantic? Have fun. Enjoy your fics. It’s all good.
But let’s not pretend Zuko is some pure woobie in this scene that just needs some Katara loving, while Azula is some fearless psychopathic monster that enjoys putting herself in danger as long as she gets to “abuse” Sokka.
There’s a reason these two scenes exist this way. Katara and Zuko are parallels just as Azula and Sokka are. Katara and Azula are foils just like Sokka and Zuko are.
Fandom can and should do better by Katara and Azula. They deserve just as much consideration and empathy for their suffering and unmet needs as their brothers do. Even if Azula was a villain - so was Zuko for most of the show!
And as a pretty consequence, I can say this: Zutara and Sokkla are equally viable.
Goodnight, shippers.

I add to this that the original Gavan is the only other person to get away with this.
Marvelous being petted like he’s a cat (and he somehow purrs like one to his complete embarrassment)
The only person who can get away with petting him like that is Ahim
He's only embarrassed because it reminds him of how he was turned into a cat and cat-napped by a Pink Menace

STEM SISTER SCUFFLE: ROUND 2 MASHUP 8
Raphella La Cognizi (The Mechanisms) vs Entrapta Princess of Dryl (Netflix She-Ra and the Princesses of Power)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Raphella La Cognizi is an... Everything Scientist! (people said "all sciences"... also she loves magnets)
Entrapta Princess of Dryl is a Roboticist, Programmer and First Ones' Tech Historian/Archaeologist!
Why you should vote for each contestant:
Raphella La Cognizi:
"All of them, probably, focused on chemistry and biology if I had to guess. She's the science officer of the Mechanisms, a band of immortal space pirates. They regularly blow up planets for fun. Raphaella designs them better bombs, tortures poor captives, tortures and vivisects her crewmates, etc. I love her also"
"it's unclear--she's a mad scientist archetype more than anything! she does, however, really like magnets. she's an immortal space pirate. she possibly made herself immortal. she's autistic To me. i love her so much. as cruel and brutal as she is... science!"
"everything? the more unethical the better, although she does really like magnets. Immortal space pirate! so she's got all the time in the universe to do science. until she dies, of course, which happens when (spoilers) she decides to fly beyond the event horizon of a black hole to find out what's on the other side. She's the science officer on her starship, which is just a badass job in general, and she's got WINGS. the wings are mechanical and the reason she's immortal. we don't know for certain if she was born with wings and they were replaced, or if she just went "wings sound fun!" and built some, or much of anything about her backstory. But! speculation is rife and there is a nonzero chance she's immortal because she experimented on herself, which is fun. Also she's just *really pretty*, ok, and has the voice of an angel. She is as cruel and brutal as she is science."
"shes immortal she has time to do all the sciences. well. she does die after like 10 millennia but even that is a final science project! she throws herself into a black hole, maybe to die, maybe to learn something new :) your honor i love her"
"SHES IMMORTAL SHES A MURDERER SHE DOES EXPERIMENTS ON HER IMMORTAL CREWMATES SHE LIKES MAGNETS SHES ***GAY*** shes my beloved"
Entrapta Princess of Dryl:
"She builds robots!!! She's curious and inquisitive!! She loves her robots!! She has the coolest hair and also I want to be her bestie. She's an absolute love"
"autism :)"
"Builds robots and computers for fun and companionship. Can take apart and understand almost any tech she is presented with. Autism lever set to max and I love her. Mandatory boob window in all her outfits and I've never related harder to a character."
"autistic icon, amazing inventor and app round excellent character"
"she has prehensile hair it’s literally the best thing i’ve ever seen in my life, it’s never once acknowledged by any of the characters as abnormal or explained in any way i’m literally obsessed with it. also autism queen"
"PIGTAILS!!!! autism"
"Entrapta is very bubbly and positive. She never lets anything like losing her friends or going to the bad side or getting put on a death-sentence island stop her from scientific pursuits! She actually drives a lot of the conflict in the story, as she explains the technological backstory of the world, and helps both sides be better at fighting. She loves data, doing experiments, and the scientific method. She's also in love with space. She is an autistic queen <3"
"phenomenal canon autism representation without being weird & shitty. also she’s so strange & wonderful & relatable in so so many ways. my computer is named Darla bc that’s what she named the AI for the spaceship in s5"
"She is THE science queen because she loves science so much and her love of it is INFECTIOUS. I don’t know anything about science but Entrapta makes it seem like the coolest thing in the universe. I love her"
"She ourple. I luv her"
"She's so passionate about her work. Takes through notes! Figured out how to hack her home planet!!! She's autistic as hell and I like her overalls."
"You won’t get autism like this anywhere else bestie"
"amoral mad scientist who flips between the good guys and bad guys, loves building so many inventions, ends up converting the head bad guy (for most of the series) to good through the power of love"
"She has outfitted her entire castle to be a maze, and installed electronic locks on some. Her staff seems to be mostly robots she has built herself. In good part reverse engineering or adapting ancient tech found on the planet. She's incredible at what she does and personally fixes, invents and builds a wide range of stuff from space ships to portals to a prosthetic exoskeleton to trackers to war machines. She can do it all. Autism win! Girlie has been criticised for being treated childlike or being unable to understand those around her to a ridiculous degree, but I'm honestly just glad she's not a Sheldon Cooper. Her favorite bots have personalities and therefore implied AI (but not the shitty kind), which means she's pretty fucking good at software too. She likes tiny foods."
"So very autistic about technology. Initially believes robots are way better than people, eventually makes human friends but also very much still has robot friends (I love Emily so much). Gets so excited about finding new First One's tech. Also her happy spinning around in a space suit in that one season 5 episode heals my heart every time I watch it"
"She's the planet's leading expert on ancient tech (sci-fi/fantasy universe) and develops most of the tech in the show and is very autistic about it. i love her"
"She is fun and funky. Chaotic neutral. Definitely some autism coding going on, which is very charming. She has a pet robot? It is cute"
"Bc she is ENTRAPTA!! No srsly she is such a well-written character. At times kinda morally grey but always lovable and great and she is truly amazing at what she does!! I'm pretty sure she's already been submitted but I wanted to make sure :)"

Round 2 Poll 14: GLaDOS from Portal vs Nastya Rasputina from the Mechanisms
Tumblr media Tumblr media
entry propaganda:
GLaDOS
big!! lovely!! will kill you!! loves you (in-game woman protagonist) a lot!! also hates you!! <3 big robot also <3 a robot that by extension is the entire science lab <3
Weirdly obsessed with another woman and fucks with her "for science"
Had a very fun codependent relationship with Chell which led to me discovering fan fiction in middle school
In unrequited(?) lesbian love with the main character who is also her test subject in the first game and the beginning of the second game. Literally writes and performs a gay-ass aria to her. Has written 4 songs about her if you count the one that’s cut content and the one in the lego game. Also her entire character motivation is “science” until it becomes “science and revenge.” Caused MANY, MANY lesbian awakenings
GLaDOS does it all - evil robot science MILF. While not necessarily a lesbian, a fondness for her is a lesbian trait, and her two songs are breakup songs w/ a woman, so read into that how you wish.
Nastya Rasputina
She is canically gay and is the engineer of the starship. Who is sentient. And her girlfriend. Yes the starship is sentient and her girlfriend.
canonically wlw AND trans. is literally dating her sentient ship, Aurora (in both a romantic and sexual sense.) shes the last princess of Cyberia, which is pretty much just Sprussia (Space Russia) (her backstory is really just the Romanov massacre but make it cyberpunk).
She is an imortal space pirate. She's dating the spaceship (who's name is Aurora). She has mercury for blood. She has forced the mechanisms to go do quests because Aurora was sad. She has the most autistic swag of any charcter I have ever seen.
Canonically a lesbian and dating the sentient starship aurora!! Also immortal space pirate
Not only is she the engineer of a sentient spaceship, she's also in a romantic and sexual relationship with the ship!

I know I can't be the first one to say this but man... Luffy and Vivi really do have one of the most compelling dynamics in One Piece
There are many reasons for this, but the first thing that comes to mind is how Vivi is one of the very few characters who went through the ordeal of challenging Luffy's principles and having hers be challenged in turn and came out of it with a draw
I mean, Luffy getting into ideological conflicts with other characters isn't anything new, but what happened in Alabasta Saga stood out to me because they show how Luffy and Vivi are foils in a way that I don't think we often see in Luffy's relationship with others, let alone female characters. [more thoughts + rambly analysis under the cut]
like. These two basically took turns - first Vivi in Drum, then Luffy in Alabasta - to grab the other by the collar and tell them no, the way you're doing things is wrong and then forcefully redirect them to a better alternative that I'd argue was against their personal code at that point.
In Drum, Vivi told Luffy off for following his impulse to fight the pirate-wary locals when it could ruin their chances of finding a doctor for Nami; implying he should think about his crew more and how the consequences of his action can affect them. In Alabasta, Luffy berated Vivi for risking her own life trying for a futile, nonviolent way to end the rebellion when the obvious solution is to involve the Strawhats and directly take on Crocodile; implying she should think about herself more and how it's impossible for her to do it all alone.
The narrative is pretty obvious in stating that Luffy is supposed to be a selfish person and Vivi is supposed to be a selfless one. But I think once you take the time to examine their characters and how they clashed, like mentioned above, it's fair to argue that their inherent traits are more nuanced than they may suggest. At its best, Luffy's selfishness extends to every person he considers as his and encourages others to also shamelessly pursue what they want; meanwhile, at its worst, Vivi's selflessness deprives her peers from accountability and places herself as the only one to bear what is supposed to be a collective burden. Selflessly selfish meets Selfishly selfless!
And I like how Vivi and Luffy seem to intuit that when trying to make the other change their mind!! Vivi essentially going I get that you're being protective of your friends but you have to recognize when your usual way of doing things isn't going to cut it in Drum, and Luffy pretty much going I know you don't want anymore casualties but you have to accept that not risking anything will only get you nowhere in Alabasta...
Not only did Luffy and Vivi end up conceding to each other's point, the narrative also framed these fights as instances where Vivi/Luffy is right and the other has to change what is criticized about themselves in order to reach their goals. Luffy needs to learn that defeating an opponent in a fight cannot be his only means to protect his crew and people he cares about. Vivi needs to learn that refusing to involve her comrades and putting only herself on the line won't help her save her country.
Also, although unspoken in text, it's clear that when these two butted heads they were holding the other to their own standards of what a leader is - which is so compelling to think about! Luffy and Vivi are very stubborn people who are very opinionated about their beliefs, but in the short time they have together they'd built a mutual understanding and respect that allow them to unreservedly push and push against each other's notion of captainship and sovereignty. But at the same time it's achingly obvious that the trust and affection is there!! They are friends!!!
just. even them being fascinating foils aside, which is a hill I will die on, the entire "jumbled collision between two contrasting sets of lives (pirates vs nobles) and roles (ship captains vs princesses) and future positions (pirate king vs queen of a desert country) being quietly smoothed out then streamlined into two folks on an equal standing because at the end of the day they're just leaders with people to protect" thing that pre-TS Luffy and Vivi got going on alone is so damn crunchy to me. I'm super excited/anxious to see how late canon would pick up where they left off !!!!!

It’s Sonic Gang Disney Movie Night! And it’s the Unstoppable Forces vs Immovable Objects! Let’s meet our competitors:
Knuckles “the last of his kind on a noble quest to protect a gem with trust issues, badass fighting skills, and a water-based spirit most of his lost culture was based around who wants to live out his fantasy of his people coming back and enemies turning into friends via continued applied trust” the Echidna who wants to watch Raya and the Last Dragon
Tikal “the curious and empathetic chief’s daughter who was really close with her now-dead grandma who yearns to return to a culture her people once had but have now abandoned and works to make peace with the dieties of her culture while being best friends with sentient water who wants to live out her fantasy of resolving her daddy issues and bringing her people and gods to peace” the Echidna who wants to watch Moana
Blaze “the heir to an entire kingdom with a lot of huge expectations placed on her by her deceased parents desperately trying to keep her deadly and dangerous powers under control which is an issue because they burst out when she’s emotional and she’s been repressing quite a bit of emotions only for an energetic, bubbly person to bring her out of her shell and prove that she can be herself without hurting anyone else” the Cat who wants to watch Frozen
Elise also wants to watch Frozen so two points for Blaze
Shadow “an alien scientifically created to be a living weapon meant to destroy who ends up befriending a little girl who teaches him to have humanity, after which he begins to appreciate life on Earth and fights to protect both it and the found family he’s pieced together for himself” the Hedgehog who wants to watch Lilo & Stitch
Sonic who wants to watch Wreck-It Ralph because he’s in it and things go fast
Amy Rose who wants to watch Sleeping Beauty because it’s “romantic” and “beautiful” but also so she can wait until the dragon scene and then start blasting “What I’m Made Of” and scare the shit out of everyone
Silver “was left alone in a barren wasteland for far longer than he wants to admit and honestly probably longer than he can remember who ends up finding one last bit of hope and who wants to live out his fantasy of bringing life back to his planet and seeing society grow around him as he finds a family of his own” the Hedgehog who wants to watch WALL-E. he’ll also settle for Lightyear he guesses
Cream who wants to watch Snow White because pretty princess sing to animals and spin around
Sally “the heir to an entire kingdom with some severe dead dad issues who ends up on the run as a child only to return and find her kingdom decimated by someone she once trusted who now has to raise a rebellion with her childhood sweetheart to dethrone the usurper and retake the land before he can destroy the entire environment” Acorn who wants to watch The Lion King
Vector who wants to watch The Great Mouse Detective and say “that’s what we do. we do that”
Shahra who wants to watch Aladdin. do i even have to
oh and Jet wants to watch Aladdin too but that’s just because he thinks stealing things is funny
Merlina actually does not want to watch Sword in the Stone it makes her uncomfortable however she will BITE someone if they don’t watch Coco next
Marine who wants to watch Finding Nemo because oooh water ooh australia oooh look at the fishies go. no she doesn’t have abandonment issues why do you ask

Belle who wants to watch Pinocchio for obvious reasons
Charmy who wants to watch Peter Pan just to point at the tv when Tink is onscreen and look Belle dead in the eye and say “that’s you”

Do you love a character with a good redemption arc? Or a corruption arc? Or even just seeing the kind of storylines that emerge from a character who was formerly aligned with an enemy side decide to join a different one?
Then welcome to...
The Turncoat Tournament!
This is a tournament for characters who have changed sides at some point in the story. It can be from good to bad, bad to good, or from one morally ambiguous side to a different morally ambiguous side, as long as the change in allegiance is still clear. Characters can change sides multiple times, and ultimately end up returning to their original side, and still qualify for the tournament!
Due to the subject of the tournament itself being inherently spoiler-y, I will by default not be tagging posts with spoiler warnings. However, below I do have a list of all the pieces of media that have characters in the tournament; if you see something on this list that you do want spoiler tagged, please let me know, and I’ll start tagging it with spoiler warnings!
