Can we work abroad after B. Pharm or M. Pharm?
Yes, you can work abroad after completing a BPharm (Bachelor of Pharmacy) or an MPharm (Master of Pharmacy), though there are some considerations and steps involved depending on your destination country and career goals.
Visit LDCP Bharuch, Pharmacy College with a good campus
### Working Abroad After BPharm
1. **Regulatory Requirements:** Many countries have specific licensing and registration requirements for pharmacists. You may need to pass an equivalency exam or meet certain criteria to practice pharmacy in that country.
2. **Job Opportunities:** A BPharm can open doors to entry-level positions in various pharmaceutical sectors, including pharmaceutical sales, drug information services, and pharmacy technician roles.
3. **Further Education:** In some countries, a BPharm might be considered equivalent to a pre-professional degree, and you might need to pursue further education or certification to practice as a pharmacist.
### Working Abroad After MPharm
1. **Specialization and Advanced Roles:** An MPharm can qualify you for more specialized and advanced roles in the pharmaceutical industry, research, clinical pharmacy, and regulatory affairs.
2. **Advanced Certifications:** You may need to obtain specific certifications or licenses depending on the country. For example, the UK requires passing the Professional Competence Assessment (PCA) and registering with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
3. **Recognition of Qualifications:** Some countries have agreements to recognize foreign qualifications, while others may require you to undergo an equivalency assessment or validation process.
### General Steps to Work Abroad
1. **Research Visa Requirements:** Check the visa and work permit requirements for the country you’re interested in. Some countries have specific visas for skilled professionals.
2. **Credential Evaluation:** Have your educational qualifications and professional experience evaluated by recognized credential evaluation agencies if required.
3. **Language Proficiency:** Ensure you meet any language proficiency requirements. For example, English-speaking countries may require proof of English language skills through tests like the IELTS or TOEFL.
4. **Professional Licensure:** Determine if you need to obtain professional licensure or registration in the destination country. This might involve passing exams, meeting additional qualifications, or providing proof of experience.
5. **Networking and Job Search:** Use international job boards, professional networks, and recruitment agencies to find job opportunities. Networking with professionals in your field can also help in finding suitable positions.
6. **Continuing Education:** Some countries might require you to complete additional continuing education or training to stay updated with local practices and regulations.
In summary, both BPharm and MPharm degrees can open international career opportunities, but it’s important to understand and fulfill the specific requirements of the country where you wish to work.

Better World Project: Advanced Pharmacy Technician Part 1
Part 1: Skills Learned (Skills Acquired and Challenges Faced)
So, what did I learn on this journey? Quite a bit! Through extensive study, research, and self-reflection, I discovered newfound abilities within myself and gained insights into a path that I once found captivating. However, one must understand how the story began before comprehending how it unfolded. Let's start from the beginning.
My Better World Project was titled "Leading the Way: Empowering Pharmacy Technicians by Promoting Advanced Pharmacy Technician Licensing Through Enhanced Leadership Opportunities and by Acquiring Advanced Pharmacy Technician Licensing Through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)." My goals were simple: to obtain this licensing and maintain a workout regimen to ensure my health and wellness. This project held personal significance for me for several reasons. Firstly, I currently work as a Certified Pharmacy Technician, and I've always aspired to progress and contribute more to the field. With this licensing, I could assist pharmacists with routine tasks, enabling them to focus on providing quality patient care and enhancing the lives of our community. I observed the challenges faced during the COVID-19 pandemic, where pharmacists were overwhelmed with tasks, and I believed that technicians could alleviate some of their workload, allowing them to prioritize essential healthcare tasks, such as inoculations, responding to patient inquiries, and managing the associated paperwork. With advanced certification, I envisioned technicians becoming instrumental in supporting pharmacists during crises. Secondly, my pursuit of becoming an Advanced Pharmacy Technician was fueled by a competitive spirit. Similar to gaming or sports, the desire to excel, even if not as the absolute best, motivated me to strive for excellence. Since no one in my district had obtained this licensing, I was eager to become the first, setting an example for others and encouraging them to pursue their licensing. Who could resist the allure of pioneering a rewarding career that offers so much to the local community? Lastly, I wanted to prove to myself that I could achieve this licensing, which might not make me a pharmacist but would allow me to assist with some of the pharmacist's day-to-day tasks.
With clear goals and ambitions laid out, I organized my project into several categories: physical development, intellectual pursuits, emotional care, ethics and regulatory research, and service to others.
Physical Development
While physical fitness was not the primary focus, it turned out to be a crucial component of my project. Establishing a routine for exercise was challenging, given the predominantly mental nature of my project. Nonetheless, I recognized its importance for overall well-being. Focusing on wellness and health, I maintained a regular exercise routine. This routine not only contributed to my physical fitness but also impacted my mental state positively. I felt more energetic and found that I could retain information more effectively. Before this project, my exercise regimen was sporadic, but now it became an integral part of my daily routine. Interestingly, I noticed that the consistency in exercise mirrored the consistency in my project work.
Intellectual Pursuits
The core of my project revolved around intellectual pursuits. The path to becoming an Advanced Pharmacy Technician, at the project's inception, involved enrolling in accredited classes through the PTCB and passing the final exam of each class. While I needed to pass just four classes with the PTCB, I decided to undertake five classes, including Technician Product Verification Essentials, Medication History, and Hazardous Drug Management. Each class presented its unique set of challenges. Fortunately, they all included quizzes to help reinforce the material before taking the final exam. The process was straightforward: choose a class, study the material, pass the quizzes, and succeed in the final test.
Emotional Care
Ensuring emotional well-being alongside physical health proved to be the most challenging aspect of this project. I reminded myself to celebrate milestones and achievements along the way, but my determination to move forward often overshadowed these small victories. In retrospect, I should have devoted more time to celebrating these achievements.
Ethics and Regulatory Research
Ethically, I continually confronted the reality that even if I achieved this licensing, I would not be permitted to practice in my state. Nevertheless, I held onto the belief that as more states open up to the idea of training and utilizing more Advanced Pharmacy Technicians, my licensing would eventually be recognized. I saw myself as a trailblazer in this regard.
Service to Others
The cornerstone of my project revolved around providing a service to others, which could significantly impact healthcare. Through the utilization of Advanced Pharmacy Technicians, pharmacies can offer more comprehensive care by reducing waiting times for patients. If technicians take over redundant tasks, pharmacists can allocate more time to consult with customers, reducing unnecessary medications and saving patients money. Technicians possess untapped experience that could be utilized to provide additional services to pharmacies and patients, and an Advanced Pharmacy Training program represents a promising first step.
Conclusion In conclusion, this project was an incredible journey. Nevertheless, I encountered numerous obstacles, with the most significant challenge expanding the project's scope beyond my ability to complete within the given timeframe. But before I delve into the details of these challenges and accomplishments, I need to analyze the project in more detail.
