Is Monet St Croix in Graymalkin?

Little bit embarrassing to have missed it in my review, but here we are. While Trask and Ellis are arguing about why murderous robot dogs were sicced on children, there's someone being moved/imprisoned in the background. They're wearing Monet's uniform and look exactly like her, so it's almost certainly her.

How TF did these chumps capture her, seriously? She won the superpower lottery. She's a flying brick with super strength, she's psychic, and she has her Penance form. Monet is also nobody's fool. None of the Sentinels we've seen would have a chance. Scurvy could probably do it from what we've seen but he's not exactly a field agent. It certainly makes Graymalkin look more competent, but it's an odd background event.

Little Quick Money teaser in HoA

Funny how we've gotten so many nods to them in the past few weeks. Good they're sticking around in the comics for now. I absolutely love them as a couple.

I think it's an interesting little panel, love everyone freaking out while this is another Tuesday for Monet. Pietro running to Japan to get her the tea she wanted when he could have just gone inside the cafe (and despite her already having coffee) is so extra (but sweet) 😂. It's very in character for Pietro to go absolutely the extra mile for someone he adores but also when you're with a women as fabulous as Monet that's just what you do 😂

Monet's little white lie to get him out of the way is interesting here. I doubt it'll be revisited given the number of characters in This mini but is it her protecting him (kind of like the reverse of that scene in SW1 where he gentler tells her he doesn't want her involved in his family chaos yet and he'll deal with it) given how Monet being a protector has been a theme this mini? Worry he won't approve? A mix of the two? Either way Monet makes an impact in her appearances and I don't think she'll be gone long. I definitely think her wanting to protect her partner plays into her sending him away at least a little her.

Quicksilver being fast enough to run from either the US or Europe to Japan to get tea and back is crazy! His speed has really improved.

Also a fun little thing I have noticed is that Monet has started wearing a lot of pink in her casual clothes, all of them in contexts where Pietro is around. Could be a case of me overthinking and the curtains are just blue but pink is a colour of the gentler side of love, nurturing and compassion which I think is a cute touch. The use of the use of the pink standing out in the recruitment scenes (whereas other characters have one of their more signature colours emphasied) also ties into Monet as the protector and carer we've been getting with her HoA appearances and in the last FoX issue where she alone looks after Karima and protects her.

For anyone still confused:

Monet St. Croix is of mixed heritage, a Black Arab. Her father is Monegasque/French & her mother is Algerian (North African).

And in her original character concept (even before her retcon as a separate X-Men character in the OG Generation X run, back when the writer intended to reveal she was just the M Twins merged) she canonically STARTED as dark skinned, visibly Black.

No matter how many times subsequent artists have carelessly or knowingly failed to acknowledge & respect that initial intended portrayal of melanin, that is how she SHOULD look.
