Zenit Kazan losing will be the headline but let’s not dismissing the effort of Zenit St. Petersburg for a well deserved win. You could see that they are VERY well prepared for Kazan (like, come on, THREE former Kazan? one noted Kazan killer? coaching staff that once part of Alekno’s team?). They stay with their game plan and execute it very well.  Special shout out to the young Pavel Pankov, who won the setter battle vs Butko. First, the sound designers created small audioscenes in which they were trying to create some plot based on sound. Then, they gave the result to the motion designers, who tried to imagine how these audioscenes are supposed to look like.

This such a completely reverse pipeline allowed to reveal the full creative abilities of both professions.

A NEW ERA : Russia NT gets ready for the World League

The Russian National Volleyball new coaching staff team has released the expanded list of 21 players for the 2017 FIVB World League.  Russia NT coach once stated that the team that he picked will be “rejuvenated”. Lots of young players combined with the experienced ones. And it is, just as advertised.  Here’s the 21 players list:

Now while I’m still baffled at some of the names here, I get his point to pick some guys who aren’t used to be on the list before. And after the last Olympics, Russia NT might want to look somewhere new — in Shlyapnikov’s word — to rejuvenate themselves. Well at least this is only for WL and not the EuroVolley.
