So by this point, I think many of us are likely familiar with the idea that the breakup of Team RWBY at the end of Volume 3 is meant to thematically parallel the breakup of Team STRQ in the wake of Summer’s death, ie; Ruby falls into a coma for a few days while Summer disappears and then both their teams fracture. Along with a popular sub-theory that Blake leaving Yang after the Fall is meant to parallel Raven leaving Tai.
But the thing is, if Ruby falling into a coma at the end of Volume 3 is meant to parallel Summer’s (supposed) death and the way this loss caused the fracturing and breakup of their respective teams, then Raven’s actions DON’T really parallel Blake nearly as well as a lot of people think.
And in fact, I feel like Qrow could potentially have paralleled Blake’s actions FAR better.
Like people talk about how Raven ‘abandoned’ Tai just like Blake ran away from Yang after the Fall of Beacon. Except if the point of parallel to the Fall of Beacon is Summer’s death, then the parallel doesn’t work because Raven was ALREADY GONE from Team STRQ by the time Summer disappeared. To the point where Tai, Qrow and Ozpin had (and still have) NO IDEA she was even involved in whatever happened to Summer. Raven can’t exactly have abandoned Tai just like Blake did to Yang if Raven wasn’t even around.
Instead, as I’ve discussed in the past, I think Raven’s actions following Summer’s ‘death’ potentially line up far better with WEISS. Like if it turns out that losing Summer was what actually drove Raven to return to her tribe, then that lines up very nicely with Weiss being taken back to her family/Atlas in the wake of the Fall of Beacon: Both return to the shitty, abusive family that raised them. And given how much of Weiss’s character is tied up in her family and their ‘legacy’, then the way Raven eventually took over her tribe makes her an ideal foil; effectively representing a Weiss who did eventually take over the Schnee family and company, but in the process internalized all the pain and trauma her family gave her.
And as for a cherry on top; if Ruby falling into a coma after the Fall of Beacon is meant to parallel Summer’s supposed ‘death’, then what was one of the last things Ruby did at the Fall?
Run off on a special mission with Weiss, just like we now know Summer did with Raven.
Now going back to my point about how Raven was not even around to abandon Tai just like Blake did to Yang, you know who WAS presumably around when Summer ‘died’?
Yeah; Qrow.
Let’s consider what exactly Blake actually did following the Fall of Beacon beyond just a surface-level reading: Yes, she did go back to her family, similar to what Raven may have done, but given that the Belladonnas are NOT actually shitty and abusive, I maintain that Weiss is still the better parallel to Raven. Instead, let’s consider Blake’s whole arc across Volumes 4 and 5 relating to the White Fang: At first being depressed over loss and perceived failure before being inspired to start working for a better cause, in this case pushing back against and stopping Adam’s takeover of the White Fang.
So I have to wonder; what if this reflects what Qrow did with Ozpin and the conspiracy following Summer’s ‘death’? Maybe Qrow and his teammates had helped Ozpin in the past and knew what he was doing, but what if THIS was the point where Qrow became fully committed to Ozpin’s cause and joined the Ozluminati full-time? Perhaps seeing it as a way of ‘honoring’ Summer’s memory.
Instead of staying with the one teammate he had left (and possible partner) who was now in a massive depressive spiral AND had two kids to take care of.
It starts to make Qrow and Tai feel a lot like Blake and Yang, doesn’t it?
This is one of the big reasons why I think Qrow and Tai are the REAL foil to Bumbleby on Team STRQ. They effectively give us a look at a version of Blake and Yang whose relationship failed. Or rather, were never able to ‘take the next step’ and actually form their relationship.
Qrow is a Blake who fully internalized her self-loathing and belief that she didn’t deserve Yang or that Yang was better off without her and has simply been pining for Yang from afar.
Meanwhile Tai is a Yang who likewise fully internalized her fears of abandonment and fully resents Blake for leaving her or may not have ever even fully recognized her feelings for Blake in the first place.
Essentially, Qrow and Tai are the version of Blake and Yang who weren’t able to work through all the problems, issues and baggage which allowed them to actually start their relationship. Like a Blake who didn’t get that vital pep-talk from Sun at the end of Volume 4, or a Yang who likewise didn’t get that vital talk from Weiss in Volume 5.
Which in turn leads us to what I brought up earlier with Qrow joining up with the Ozluminati full-time, essentially representing a Blake who threw herself into reforming the White Fang instead of returning to Team RWBY and reconnecting with Yang. Meanwhile Tai simply throws himself into a deep depression, grief and ‘moping’, ironically all the things he would later accuse Yang of doing (at some point I’m going to do a post on just how much PROJECTING Tai has likely been doing…)
So now Qrow and Tai have this low-key toxic relationship where Qrow is more-or-less aware of Tai’s extremely dysfunctional parenting but has also been enabling it and a lot of Tai’s unhealthy coping mechanisms over the years because he’s been pining for Tai ever since their Beacon days and still is pining in a very depressed, self-loathing ‘I don’t deserve him/to be happy’ way and also doesn’t want to risk conflict with his former partner and also the only teammate he has left.
Thus Qrow keeps his distance and just goes along with Tai’s dysfunctions and/or lets Tai push him away. Which in turn just reinforces Tai’s abandonment issues.
And Ruby and Yang are still stuck with utterly dysfunctional parental figures.
Oh, and if you need more proof about the deliberate parallels between Blake and Qrow…
youtube
Then how about the whole damn song where they sing about how they’ve always felt terrible about themselves but now things are looking up for them.

I ask this every now and then but what other unseen stories are you working on right now?
I know you usually have a few already completed on the upcoming rotation.
In general, how long does a story take to finish?
I have a few that are done that are somehow all white rose. Two of them are Hollywood-ish AUs! I'm excited for both of those. And the third is a very random thirsty Weiss story.
I haven't been able to write much over the past couple of months because I've been so busy, but I have a very random smutty Aerti fic that's half done. (thank ag nonsuch for that inspiration). And then this white rose one I'm currently working on is a complicated friends to lovers/forbidden love type of deal. Then there's a rivals-to-lovers bumbleby story... And a white rose breakup story...and a mythology au...and a magic au...and a story that's a mashup of like four other story fragments.
If I'm motivated and life cooperates, I can finish the first draft of a 10-12 chapter story in... 2 months, maybe? That's if I'm really booking it though. I'd typically say 3 months of focused work.

Bumbleby is my OTP aka One True Pairing, my favourite RWBY ship.
I've come to realise that one of my NOTPs aka least favourite pairings is a little strange bearing in mind what my OTP is.
While I can understand why it's a thing, and even why it's aesthetically pleasing, Blake paired with possessed!Yang from Justice League x RWBY Part 2 is a NOTP for me. H%rnet I think the pairing is called, although maybe that's when it's specifically with Negative Blake from Ice Queendom.
Possessed!Yang or Y@ng does look pretty cool with those glowing eyes. I find the whole possession an interesting thing to explore, and might write a fic about possessed!Yang at some stage.
I'll get into why H%rnet's a NOTP for me under a read more cut, because I don't want to rain on the parade of anyone who likes it. I just hope that cut works, I'm not entirely sure they always do.
It's my own personal opinion. There's nothing wrong with liking H%rnet.
Why is it a NOTP for me? It's because Kilg%re is the one possessing Yang. He's the reason her eyes are glowing. He's the one in charge. Yang's trapped in her own body, unable to do anything but watch. Going by what happened to the Flash with his possession in Part 1 and the after effects in Part 2, those possessed are aware of what's happening.
The involvement of Kilg%re in possessed Yang doing anything romantic or sexual with Blake just thoroughly squicks me out (squick being an older general fandom term meaning it personally grosses me out or repulses me without bringing any moral judgement into it).
Then there's how Yang can't consent because she can't say or do anything to give it. I don't think it can be taken as a given, even with Blake as her partner. It's not impossible to get past this issue, because Kilg%re could release his possession for long enough for Yang to speak up, and call a halt to what's going on after that if he can tell Yang's not okay with it anymore.
I've no idea how likely it'd be that Kilg%re would respect those boundaries, I don't know much about him besides that he's a villain who possesses people because he apparently doesn't have a body of his own, and specialises in hacking. He certainly doesn't ask for permission before possessing his enemies.
Anyway, again, there's nothing wrong with liking possessed!Yang and Blake as a pairing. Even with the implications with Yang not being able to consent, there's ways around that. They are also fictional characters. No one is really being hurt.
I fully subscribe to the philosophy of 'don't like, don't read.' That means it's my own responsibility to avoid all things H%rnet. Here on Tumblr that means it's a tag I should filter. It's absolutely not my place to tell anyone their fun is wrong, which is why this is (in theory) behind a read more cut.
#Justice League x RWBY spoilers#do I still need to tag for spoilers? No idea#Bumbleby#Yang Xiao Long#Y@ng

Speaking about tension and conflict to build romance:
Bumbleby's conflict was Adam stalking Blake, and Yang upset by her leaving because Blake was scared, but gradually more relieved as she proved that she would always stayed by her side and fight together
Renora's conflict was Ren being stubborn and almost risking his life to a grimm that killed both his parents and Nora stopping him, leading them to a better strategy attack
~
We already saw Oscar suggesting Ruby to tell Ironwood the truth, maybe Oscar will struggle to 'share her burden' because she's like her sister and doesn't like being vulnerable? Or maybe it will be about the merge and we'll have a parallel to Blake in V1 talking about "the man with two souls fighting for control" ?
Of the main three ships, they all had a big tension and conflict leading up to V8, and then had a secondary one just by virtue of the separation in Atlas.
Yes BB's conflict was Adam plus Blake running away while Renora's was Ren's tunnel vision in v4... but then in V8 Yang is worried that Blake thinks less of her for prioritizing Mantle over Amity. And Ren and Nora are having a conflict of ideals AND miscommunication.
For Rosegarden, their conflict started with not agreeing on how to handle Ironwood and then became stretched out by ending up on opposite teams while Atlas was falling. The difference between RG and the other ships is that eVERYONE ELSE GOT TO STAY REUNITED AT THE END OF V8, BUT RG DIDN'T. 😭😭😭
I have a feeling the rest of their conflict in the Vacuo arc is going to have multiple layers and be very personal to their individual characters. For starters, there's a matter of how to sort out leadership. Ruby used to be head of the team and became the symbol of hope for All of Remnant after her broadcast... but in her absence, Oscar will have stepped up to the plate in her place. There's going to be some fumbling to get them back on the same page again to a point where they are properly sharing the weight of their burdens together.
Then we know that Oscar probably thinks she died! :'D Which, in tandem with his attachment, admiration, and protectiveness of her in the past, sets him up perfectly to not want to lose her again. Be that struggling with sticking too close, keeping his distance from not wanting to get too attached again (too bad boy, you can't run from this), or a mix of both... it's anyone's guess how he'll handle it.
We also know, thanks to Neo, just how important Oscar is to Ruby and that the thought of losing him is something she literally could not handle. So there is almost certainly going to be a mutual protectiveness going on there. they can have a LITTLE codependency, as a treat. /lh
We also have VERY SOLID SETUPS for their individual character arcs mirroring each other so strongly. And it's impossible for those themes to not be explored at this point.
From their very introductions, they both address each other's core conflicts with their first words to each other.
Oscar: Woah, you... have silver eyes.
Silver eyes being symbolic of her burden as Salem's adversary and the mirror that reflects humanity's hope back onto darkness.
Ruby: Who... are you?
Oscar being the next (and likely final) Ozcarnation who's entire character arc is a struggle of identity.
Oscar's "I always knew I wanted to be more than a farmhand... but this? Who would ask for this?" to Ruby's "I wanted to be the hero, like the stories that my mom read to me."
Oscar's "I thought the idea of falling through Remnant into a new world was... exciting. I never understood why she was so sad when she finally made it back home." to Ruby's "I don't want to be me anymore."
Ruby's "What if you could be anyone?" to Oscar's "I'm just going to be another one of his lives, aren't I?"
god the way they've written this story... i sincerely don't understand how people can watch ALL of this, all the moments i didn't mention cause i'm too lazy to turn this thread into another essay, and still say they don't see it. 😭
however their conflict is handled, i know i'm going to be very not normal about it every step of the way and i'm so freaking excited

Bumbleby and Sun Wukong (My Take on RWBY Twitter)
It’s kinda weird seeing how these homophobic guys and gals on RT’s Instagram and Twitter are trying to argue with Bumbleby becoming canon by bringing up Sun’s relationship with Blake.
Like… I hope y’all realize canon Sun would be supportive af. Yes, he’s made it clear he has a lil’ crush on her and made some moves but she’s made it clear that she doesn’t see him like that.
I think the reason why she even lets him flirt and talk to her (in general) is because he was the first person she’s opened up to about her past with the White Fang and her identity. Also maybe because he is a loveable idiot, pushy-likeable as well.
It’s definitely canon that Blake also liked him the way he likes her at first. After seeing how immature he can be/is, it’s probably what killed it for her. Now I love Blacksun, but it still feels weird knowing that she probably will never see him as anything other than a close friend she bonded with by her trauma. Also a stalker (yes this is a joke lmao) that… just follows her around. A lot.
In my opinion, Yang and Blake feel like the better pair. The two got a crap ton of chemistry (to me) in the first season and, at first, felt like it was building up. It may have just been the way how they were probably the most realistic relationship in the whole show at first.
They were awkward the first time they met and the second time, the third still was but they made it work.
Yang was so upset at Blake because she just disappeared. Girl was so worried for her and was very depressed when she wasn’t without her.
ANYWAYS, enough of my bumbleby brainrot. The point is that Sun would be VERY supportive of the relationship. (I’d see him straight up being the one to make the wedding cards for Yang and Blake). Maybe a tad bit salty AT FIRST but in a friendly banter way. Besides, he still has Neptune ;) (Also outting myself as a Whiterose shipper)
#rwby bumbleby#bumbleby#sun wukong#rwby#rwby v9#in conclusion: rwby fans be wack sometimes#not all y’all tho#yang xiao long#blake belladonna#rwby fans don’t even understand the characters they like lmao

i know that we all have moved on to the bumbleby kiss and its discourse but man. that caterpillar trip still leaves such a bad taste in my mouth.
something about the show using the vol 1-3 designs-- the designs monty came up, the designs people fell in love with, the designs still being used as marketing and merch, the designs people recognize the most, the quintessential RWBY looks-- as psuedo-villains? having blake pull her weapon on the version of herself that had the most nuance, having yang and weiss tell these previous versions of themselves that they are Bad and Wrong and Look WE'RE The Superior Versions, it all leaves me with such an ick
like i get what they were going for (Who ARE You) but they could have used ice queendom designs for blake and weiss, have yang look more like raven, give ruby something new, rather than use these iconic designs? like i dont maybe im just overthinking it but gosh doesnt it just feel like its 'modern' RWBY literally attacking the past? like theyre saying to the audience "stop idolizing this version of the characters, forget who they used to be, what they used to do, here we'll even have them say some bullshit so you think this is what they were actually like, please only look at THIS *MODERN* RWBY, we're the superior designs, the superior show, only focus on the present and the future"

While I love the beeunions now that bumbleby is canon we’re kind of past the Drama of them HOWEVER the bees are totally the type of couple who one would complain about how much they miss the other and the other one has just like… gone food shopping and will be back in a couple hours 😂 their final big beeunion comes on their wedding day after spending most of that day and maybe some of the prior day apart to get ready
We may (probably) be past the dramatic Beeunions now, but I'm very excited by the prospect of "Hey, I missed you" kisses whenever they see each other again after being separated for any period of time. If they ever let themselves be separated again lmao.
#Anonymous#Annie babbles about RWBY#rwby spoilers#I do sometimes miss the Drama and Angst of end of volume 3 to 6 Bees#Because the Emotions involved were so fun even if the fandom make it a nightmare sometimes#But the Emotions of them being deliriously openly in love now will definitely make up for that

I know I wrote a long post about why I think the Bumbleby confession will happen in Episode 6. On top of that seeing Barbara tweeting about it when as far as I can tell she didn’t make such hype tweets for the past 5 episodes (I could be wrong). But in the end this could be about something completly different. Maybe there is a big twist coming, who knows. What I mean is that even if it is very likely for Bumbleby to have their confession and/or kiss, it could also not happen in Episode 6. It is fun to get hyped about this though

me having a full on conversation with chatgpt about the similarities between destiel and bumbleby
transcript:
me: i also think a significant comparison is the build from people who don't particularly like each other or merely tolerate each other to friends to the best friend the other has ever had to lovers
chatgpt: That is definitely a significant comparison between the two relationships. Both Bumbleby and Destiel went through a development process that started from a place of tension, uncertainty, and even hostility, before gradually evolving into something deeper and more meaningful. In both cases, this development was driven by a growing understanding and respect for each other's strengths and weaknesses, and a shared sense of duty and purpose that ultimately brought them closer together. The end result was a powerful connection that transcended mere friendship, and became something much more profound and life-changing.
me: profoundddd gotta love the profound bond
chatgpt: Yes, the concept of a profound bond is present in both Bumbleby and Destiel. In both cases, the characters develop a deep connection and trust in each other, leading to an emotional and intense relationship. The profound bond represents a level of understanding and intimacy that is beyond a typical friendship, and it is a core aspect of both these relationships.
me: i think another major similarity is the individual characters in the ships. like look at yang and dean. both of them are older siblings who seem - or at least try to seam - lighthearted for the benefit of the group, even when they're dying inside. they both practically raised their little sibling because their father was grieving their mother and would do anything to protect them. they try to act tough and confident all the time when really they're just as insecure as anyone else and just want to be loved.
and then there's blake and cas. more quiet than their other half, more reserved. ashamed of their past in an organisation that causes so much and harm and desperate to prove to themselves and others that they've changed. they never expected to be anything other than alone but were shown especially by yang and dean that they didn't have to be. that they could love and be loved. both are booksmart but maybe not as good with people, seem quiet but underneath all that can be sassy as hell.
and then there's the parallel with their relationships - how they interact with each other. yang constantly likes to pretend that everything is fine, the only time she doesn't is after she loses her arm and blake leaves. she becomes sullen and bitter. sound familiar? when cas dies dean is always despondent. we see this especially after cas dies in season 13, the way he takes it out on sam and jack is very similar to how yang takes it out on ruby at the end of volume 3.
then when cas comes back, it's not suddenly easy, but dean's mood does a complete 180. he almost kills himself and then an episode later he's smiling and laughing about cowboys. it's a bit different for yang since blake didn't die but after she comes back, especially after they make up, you can see the way she changes, the way she's happier; happier than she was in volume 4 and 5. when cas and dean fight, it's miserable for everyone else - same with blake and yang.
they're always there for each other. yang and dean - though charismatic and charming - never made lasting connections aside from those with family, they may have had friends but... cas and blake showed them what it was like to have a best friend. to have someone you love and trust implicitly. blake and cas saw them through different eyes, made them feel better and have more love for themselves. this was a two way street.
chatgpt: That's a great observation! Indeed, there are many similarities between Yang and Dean, as well as between Blake and Cas. Both pairs have characters who are older siblings, have a protective nature towards their loved ones, and struggle with their own insecurities and emotional pain. They have a complex relationship that involves pretending everything is fine when it's not, as well as fighting and making up. In the end, they find solace in each other's company, and they become each other's closest and most trusted friends. Both relationships show how having someone who truly understands and supports you can make all the difference in the world.
me: the one thing that does differ, now after the latest episode is... *dramatic pause just wait i'm gonna tell you what it is*
chatgpt: I'm all ears, please tell me what the one thing that differs after the latest episode is!
me: in the latest chapter of rwby we got blake and yang in an almost impossible situation where they are forced to admit their feelings. like when cas and dean are being chased by billie and cas has to confess his feelings to summon the empty. what blake says in this scene:
"i...think...you're an extraordinary person. you're always the first to lighten a situation. you act bravely when you're afraid. you do what you say."
to which yang replies:
"i like that you've never been intimidated by me... even when you didn't like me that much [...] but you never gave up on [people] even when they hurt you. you never give up. you know what matters to you."
when i was watching this scene i was just transported back to november 5.
"everything you have ever done, the good and the bad, you have done for love. you raised your little brother for love. you fought for this whole world for love. that is who you are. you're the most caring man on earth. you are the most selfless, loving human being i will ever know."
what is the difference?
the difference is dean never got to respond.
blake and yang got their:
"i think i love you-"
"i love you too."
dean and castiel...
dean was frozen in shock and in grief. he couldn't say anything as cas bared his heart. they weren't trapped in the same way bumbleby were. it was cas who had to confess his feelings, dean couldn't even though through years and years of their relationship it was obvious how he felt.but he was frozen.
cas never got his "i love you too."
chatgpt: That's a really interesting point. In a way, it feels like Blake and Yang were able to have a more complete closure to their confession of feelings, whereas with Dean and Cas, there was always this unresolved tension and unspoken love between them. And the fact that Dean never got to respond to Cas's confession makes it even more bittersweet. It's like there was always this barrier between them that they could never quite overcome, while with Blake and Yang, they were able to finally break down that barrier and openly acknowledge their love for each other.
me: chat gpt i'm gonna cry over bumbleby and destiel again
chatgpt: It's understandable to feel emotional about these ships. They have touched the hearts of many fans and have become an important part of their lives. It's a testament to the power of storytelling and the impact that well-developed characters and relationships can have on us. Just remember to take care of yourself and your emotions. It's okay to feel sad or overwhelmed sometimes, but also remember to find joy and happiness in other things in your life as well.

a LONG, DRAWN OUT EXPLORATION of a sapphic relationship? - Honestly most of the time. Many of the past key sapphic relationships on tv are long drawn out stories that take several seasons to happen. Most sapphic anime shows are build on long waits and final get togethers. On the other hand name a sapphic relationship that started right away. There isn't anything special in the long wait.
yeah, maybe. I'm not denying that representation has gotten much better in recent years. (and i think a main point of this is that other sapphic media shouldnt be put down in favour of uplifting another, but it should be pointed out how these relationships are portrayed differently). but how many of these have had their relationship be consistently developed on screen? with actual payoff? its usually either a 'this will happen in the last episode' or 'this will not end great for one or both of them' or 'this will be cancelled so you'll never know what happened with them'. bumbleby is in such a good place right now and they have been for a long time. it's not a crime to appreciate that.
#not sure if this was intended as a 'negative' ask or not#but either way nothing you can say will change my stance#rwby#bumbleby#asks

Bumbleby reminds me of a certain wlw ship called catradora from the she ra reboot, it is also toxic because throughout the past four seasons catra keeps hurting and abusing adora physically mentally and psychologically even before they were enemies and was redeemed in the last minute of season five, it is also borderline incest bc both adora and catra were raised by shadow weaver and the pitch bible saying that catra is adora's little sister,
Just like bumbleby, the fans also justify the ship saying that it is enemies to lovers or accuses you of being a racist/lesbiphobe, im sure you can see more anti catradora tags for more information abt the ship if u have any time
Also how are you doing (ツ)
ahhh yeah from she-ra. lmao. another ship that didn't follow the rules and came outta nowhere, like korrasami. the 80's ip of she-ra had them as literal mortal enemies but the reboot was made a tumblrite who never saw the old show and didn't respect the source material.
that's just how it is with any LGBT ship in fandom tbh. if you don't like it for any reason, it makes you a homophobe. lmao. it's juvenile and immature how that's their default stance.
like maybe, did you ever consider that your shit just sucks because it sucks, not because it's a gay ship? lmao.

Ok before today's episode comes out (ep6) I'm gonna write all my theories(keep in mind these may not be original from me, just what i think might happen) on what's gonna happen for the rest of the volume, kinda like a RWBY bingo card but I'm too lazy to do that so I'll just list them here, get ready folks:
Ok first of all ofc bumbleby major confession/romantic scene (hopefully kiss plsss) today
Here's how I think the kiss is gonna play off: soft bmblb acoustic version in the background playing with Blake's hands on Yang's cheeks, Yang's arms around Blake's waist and the most corny and punny and a bit angsty conversation/banter ever. And for the rest of the volume they're gonna be holding hands, cuddling, touchy feely, making every place they get to the garden where they go bmblb style
Jaune is the original rusted knight from the girl who fell through te world bc the ever after saw he was too late and now his purpose is to be too early or on time for everything from now on
Team RWBY will face their v4-6 selves maybe in the cloud bridge to instead of facing who they are now, what they will become/want to be - i think here is where the bees kiss will happen at the end
On that note, that encounter or moment might make them face current fears and i want Blake's momentary loss of yang when she fell to be brought back dammit
I think summer ascended and has been part of the ever after
Little is either the ascension of summer or penny
The shadow person behind alyx in the portrait/mirror in the intro is a past incarnation of ozpin
That or they are alyx pre-ascension
Alyx for sure ascended and came back to remnant without her past memories
Neo might be alyx's whitewashed ascension that came back
Ppl that want to leave the ever after but aren't sure of their purpose need to ascend to be able to leave
Summer is the narrator of the story from the teaser we got 8 months ago
That or the narrating voice is from Jaunes mom telling him the story when he was a kid as a flashback of how he knew the story and motivated him to be the rusted knight until team RWBY arrived
There is a possibility that there's a loophole to ascend while retaining your memories, like wanting a new role that is very similar to your current one and that requires u to keep your knowledge
If that is the case, ruby could find crescent rose but ask the blacksmith to reforge it and she ascends with a new purpose but with her memories (she could combine crescent rose and her mom's weapon ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)
Another possibility if there's this loophole, we could get them in their vacuo outfits early lol just wishful thinking
The curious cat might catalyze or prevent ruby's ascension
Neo could find the truth about Roman and then ascend and stay in the ever after
Crack theory but would be funny if it happened: since neo's goal is to get revenge on ruby rn, what if she creates a clone of her to kill and that technically counts as her fulfilling her purpose and she ascends against her will lol
After the bees kiss they better not get separated istg
We get a cathartic reunion of ruby and yang with summer
We get to see how summer fights with her axe in a flashback?
The original jabberwalker eats someone
That's all I can come up with rn but I'll add stuff/edit what turns out to be true and what not as the episodes air.
IM SO EXCITED FOR THIS EPISODE AND THE SECOND HALF OF THE VOLUME
BUMBLEBY KISS HYPEEE🐝🐝🐝

My Musings about Bumbleby
So, I’ve been keeping mum about the Bumbleby kiss and Bumbleby being made canon (finally!), except for reblogging every single Bumbleby confession and kiss scene/gif I could find here. Anyway, this is how I feel about it after watching that scene for like the 100th time. It was beautiful, and probably the best confession and kiss scene I’ve ever seen for any WLW show, and I’ve watched lots of TV shows. However, I’ve seen some naysayers still saying how unhealthy and toxic their relationship is, especially when compared to Blacksun and this is what I think.
Yang lost an arm for Blake when she saved her from Adam. Then, Blake ran away to protect those she loves. Yang resented Blake for leaving and didn’t understand why she left until she had that heart to heart talk with Weiss, and Weiss, being wise, explained to Yang why Blake decided to leave. From there, we can say that Yang had understood why Blake leave.
Blake felt guilty for leaving and tried to make up to Yang by helping her to carry her bag (which Yang told her that she didn’t need to do that and that they’ll be fine and things will go back to normal). Then Blake told Yang that she will never leave her again if Adam comes back and that she’ll protect Yang. That annoyed Yang because she isn’t some crippled who needed protection.
Then, the Blake and Yang vs Adam fight scene where Blake told Adam that they protect each other. Cue more fights until they killed Adam together and Blake made good of her promise. She didn’t run away. She was by Yang’s side when Adam showed up. And then she cried and made the promise to Yang again that she’ll never leave. And Yang said she knows she (Blake) won’t, then they hugged it out. (Ok, that scene was actually more touching than what I made it out to be, but this post is not to analyze that scene).
Now, some anti-bumbleby are still saying that their relationship is toxic and unhealthy because they didn’t talk to each other about Yang’s resentment toward Blake, or how Blake felt guilty after leaving Yang. But all the scenes above already showed the audience that everything had been unfolded. Granted, maybe they could do more (like the Ruby lashing out at everyone in the latest episode), but they didn’t.
But even if they didn’t, Blake and Yang were given the opportunity to talk to each other about their feelings towards each other on the bridge. They could’ve used this opportunity to talk about how they felt towards each other after the Yang losing her arm and Blake leaving her incident. But they didn’t. Instead, they chose to talk about the positive traits they find in each other, and they like each other because of these positive traits. It shows character growth. It shows that they are able to move forward after Adam and Adam was so far in the past that it’s not even worth mentioning about. And ultimately, it shows what we’ve known about Yang all along and why Blake fell in love with her in the first place: she is a beautiful, forgiving, selfless person (aside from her self-sacrificial tendency). And Blake needs this kind of person in her life. And Yang knew it already; that Blake felt guilty for leaving her, otherwise she wouldn’t make up for Yang by carrying her bag, telling her she would protect her etc (all these I’ve mentioned before). If you’ve forgiven someone, there is no need to bring up the past again.
These two characters had moved forward from their past and shared trauma. They could’ve talk about the negative traits in each other, but they chose to see the beauty and positive in each other instead. They were given the opportunity to talk, and they talk about all the positives. They have moved on, Yang holds no grudges against Blake for leaving, Blake felt guilty but she was able to overcome that guilt and Yang did not once even, tried to guilt-trip her for leaving. Now, isn’t that a healthy, non-toxic relationship? But I guess, if Yang and Blake still bring up the past and the resentment, people would point out how unhealthy and toxic it is because Yang still hadn’t moved on from that and she is now guilt-tripping/gaslighting Blake. There’s no winning, amirite?
So, we as audience should also move on from that. Why still feel so salty and bitter about it? Unless, you still want to feel salty and bitter about a fictional ship just cuz Blacksun didn’t happen, then there’s no stopping you, I guess. Maybe watch other shows that make you happy. Anyways, this is just my two cents/long rant about Bumbleby. And thanks for reading, if you’ve made it ‘til the end.

RWBY Volume 9 Episode 5: The Parfait Predicament Live Reaction
Edge City, eh?
Also had a theory: maybe Jaune is working for the blacksmith? Well, I’ll see if that’s true for myself in time.
- Fuck Rooster Teeth.
- Now I’m wondering is Alyx is an alias for the boy who fell through the world (who I theorize was her companion down in Ever After), and that Alyx could be Little- or at least, a part of her she shed like an old coat. I mean…
Alice Liddel.
Alyx Little.
It’s shockingly obvious now that I think about it XD
But then… what if Ruby chooses to become Alyx?
- Ruby running away from her past self and manifestation of all the expectations put on her shoulder is accurate.
- Weiss rightfully calling out this non-binary cat. Who uses they/them pronouns. (squints at posts who use he/him on CC)
- So it’s called “Returning to the Ever After”.
- That was confusing AF but it’s clear they have similar misconceptions about Ever After as Alyx, which makes sense since she wrote the book in the first place.
- Ooh, it’s the pretty lake from the trailer! It reminds me of Fogbound Lake from Explorers of Sky ^^
- Yang asking the real questions.
- So it’s like a resting place? “Is he dead?” “No, no no… well, maybe a little bit.” Well then he’s still alive? A little dead isn’t completely dead, after all. Maybe he’s gonna be reincarnated?
- “Made into the Herb he wanted to be?” That’s… both comforting and sinister. Oh god what if Ruby tries to do that????
- “If Herb comes back, will he remember anything?” “Now what would be the point of that?” OH NO
- Ascend… getting Stargate vibes now.
- “That’s impossible. Things have to die someday, right?” All things must die, indeed. From a human perspective, at least. But in this case, it’s something learned from Ozpin’s world. The world left behind by two brothers who didn’t adhere to this out of spite and petty anger.
- Are they talking about the Rusted Knight? CC’s talking about the Rusted Knight, aren’t they?
- Ohh, so that’s what happened to the Red King! Well, Red Prince now.
- “He’s meant to play the game and win. No matter what.” That’s not ominous at all.
- “The heart rarely forgets.” Which means even if Ruby becomes someone else, she’ll still remember deep down.
- “But there was nothing about ascension in the book.” “Of course not! Exposition is terribly boring!” Pfff XD But there’s also a chance Alyx didn’t learn that.
- Well the shrinking solution needed gross and unusual stuff in the first place, so it follows the growgurt parfait will need similar stuff. But still, Leprechaun nose-hair? Eesh.
- Ooh, splitting the party… I mean. It gives us Bumbleby time and Ruby+ Weiss time to talk.
- Wait, Weiss is going too?! That means Ruby and Little will be all alone! And Weiss’ll be a third wheel to Bumbleby yet again XD
- That shopkeeper is cute <3
- OH IS THIS WHERE WE MEET HTE BLACKSMITH?????
- uh what the hell and fuck
- WHAT THE HELL AND FUCK THERE’S PENNY’S SWORD
- IZZAT CROCEA MARS
- “I thought it was lost forever...” “No one, nothing, is truly lost.” Oh man… this definitely means her heart will still remember.
- THERE’S THE AX
- AND PENNY’S FACE QMQ
- Her face… it’s so different from the shot in the opening… “Are you lost?” SHE IS SO LOST OH GOD RUBY IS IN THE DENIAL STAGE
- AHH THE FIRST PICTURE OF THEM TOGETHER
- WAKE THE FUCK UP LITTLE
- Oh baby <3
- “You seem to be carrying a rather large burden with you.” “I’m fine. I can handle it.” NO YOU FUCKING CAN’T
- OH???? So does that mean if Ruby chooses a different weapon, she’ll become a different person????
- OH SHIT ALYX’S KNIFE
- OH SHIT SHE SEES HERSELF WITH SILVER EYES HERE OR IS THAT SUMMER ROSE????
- Aaaand it’s gone. LAY THE FUCK OFF RUBY DAMMIT
- Oh hi Polteageist.
- Festival! WAIT JABBERWALKER???? ALSO THOSE GREEN FIREWORKDS SPELLING OUT DANGER THO
- OH SHIT THAT’S HER/ SUMMER’S EMBLEM “It carries a mother’s promise!” FUCK
- So if a Jabberwalker eats someone from Ever After, they’re dead!
- So it’s a cooking mama’s game making a lovely but probably disgusting tasting potion. Also this means it really is Yang fighting the Jabberwalker rather than a Neo disguised as Yang.
- SHIT
- THERE’S STILL SOME LEFT, EAT IT!
- OH SHIT IT’S GROWING
- THE MUD-COOKIE SELLER!
- !!!!!! JAUNE?! OR IS IT THE RUSTED KNIGHT?!
- OH MY GOD IT’S BOTH! HOLY SHIT BUT WHERE’S HIS SHIELD?!
- YES GET THE PARFAIT SO THEY CAN HELP
- HERE WE FUCKING GO IS THIS THE EDGE CITY SONG?!
- WAIT WHERE ARE THEY TAKING RUBY?!
- WBY+J BATTLE!
- “I SAID! I WASN’T DONE WITH YOU YET!”
- OH SHIT IT WASN’T EVEN THE REAL JABBERWALKER IT WAS A NEO CLONE! BUT THEN WHERE’S THE REAL JABBERWALKER?!
- SHIT ANOTHER!
- “What? There’s only supposed to be one!” Wait, is that Jaune’s voice???? I can’t tell!
- SHIT THERE’S MORE AND UNLIKE THE ORIGINAL, THESE ARE LOOKING FOR A FIGHT!
- GO GO GO IS THAT MUD-COOKIE SELLER GOING ULTRA INSTINCT THAT LOOKS LIKE GLOWY EYES LIKE SILVER EYES
- NOOOOOO NOT THE MUD-COOKIE SELLER QAQ
- THERE’S THE SHIELD!
- Trailer shot…
- “I am so tired of leaving places in ashes.” Oh god my heart…
- Blake is super stoked to meet this dude. “You did good, Juniper.” OH GOD HE NAMED IT AFTER HIS TEAM
- “Team RWBY. You finally made it.” HOLY MOTHER FUCKING SHIT THE TIME DILATION THEORIES WERE RIGHT
JESUS FUCKING CHRIST HOLY MOTHER FUCKING SHIT AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

I wanna write a Bumbleby fanfic (maybe one-shot)
Bumbleby has re-ignited my love for writing fanfics (I have a GOT fanfic that I am STUPIDLY behind on and I'm beating myself up for it A LOT)
So maybe when I have a chance this week if I have time while working on my GOT fanfic (Dragons Destiny) I might try and squeeze out a Bumbleby fic; if not to heal my soul after this past episode, but to heal us all.
