Caregiver/Daughter/Sister/Cat Mom/ Friend/ Learner
I am writing today to let others know they are not alone and that caregiver isn’t their identity.
I am 25 yr old and I am a caregiver for my dad, 52 yr old, with Parkinson’s Disease. I am also a Daughter for a 52 yr old ESE self contained middle school teacher. I’m also the sister of a 28 yr old bank teller.
Family life can be stressful on so many levels. My mom and my sister are also technically caregivers. They both have full time jobs, and I have a part time retail job due to Psychogenic Non epileptic Seizures caused by anxiety. My mom and sister are both diabetic and my sister has been diagnosed with depression and has not been very open to getting help with it.
I try my best to help make dinner and keep the house somewhat clean, even to the detriment of my own needs.
Sometimes I feel great that I am needed, but sometimes I feel neglected because I would like help too.
Binx, is my absolute joy in life. She’s a black cat with a white chest and white socks. She has the most vivid green eyes and long white whiskers. She is a cuddler and loves her food. (She will threaten my things on the shelf above my bed if I don’t get up early enough to feed her.) She’s so adorable and I couldn’t imagine my life without her.
I have a few close friends that support me and I support them as well. My best friend got into a relationship with someone about a year ago, that I’ve yet to meet. We used to discuss how dropping off the map when getting into a relationship sucked and that it wouldn’t happen. But, it has happened twice now. I sometimes feel like a placeholder until they get a significant other. I’m not really sure how to describe it because I don’t necessarily feel hurt by it, but sometimes I do think about it.
Also, I’d say I’m a learner because I love learning new things. I am going back to college to get my masters in librarianship and I can’t wait to see where it takes me.
Identities can fluctuate and change, so this is just a snapshot of who I feel I am at this point in time.
I hope that this reaches those who need to know they are not alone in their caregiving endeavors and that caregiving doesn’t define who they are!

eldest sibling vent
on 2/5, i found out that my mom had fallen twice in a short period of time (once at work, once at home) and that my siblings had decided not to tell me because i was "so stressed with work." (not in quotes to denote sarcasm, just in quotes bc that's verbatim)
they said not to worry, everything was okay, mom was just bruised up. oh yeah and also they went to her psychiatrist and he took her off one of her medications because one of the possible side effects is causing symptoms of parkinson's disease, which probably led to her falls. very casual, i'm not freaking out at all. and my siblings try to pacify me like "don't worry, we're adults, we can take care of this!"
so on that day, 2/5, my two requests for those adults were: 1) get mom a cane, the physician said she needs to use one until the medication is fully out of her system, i will reimburse you for it and 2) please make mom a self-assessment chart so she can fill it out every day and we can track her progress/her symptoms.
two days go by and neither of them have done either of those things, so i end up getting a cane delivered to her myself and i end up creating the self-assessment and getting it printed and delivered to her myself, from 300 miles away.
then today, 2/14, i actually get my mom to send me the notes from her three physicians appointments regarding these falls. those "just bruises" are actually five different sprain sites, including sprains in both of her knees and her lumbar spine. then i notice on the same paperwork, her status for work is "restricted." she's not supposed to climb stairs, stand or walk for prolonged periods, crouch or bend down, or lift anything 10lbs+. she absolutely has to do all those things at work and she's BEEN AT WORK since her falls. she has to stand sometimes for 2.5 hours straight without a break!
then i find out her workplace sent her all the paperwork for worker's comp!!! she could have already qualified for lost wages (u have to miss 4 work days before you qualify) and just BEEN AT HOME, HEALING. but noooo, nobody is keeping track of this shit? nobody is going with her to her appointments and, worse, they're also not reading her doctor's notes????? she didn't show anyone the worker's comp stuff and they didn't think to ask? I'M the one giving THEM updates on her when i'm 300 miles away and they're FIVE MINUTES away??????
no offense but how the fuck am i really supposed to "relax" and "trust" my siblings to be adults who can take care of our mom when they're not fucking doing it!!!!! oh my god.

Remembrance-Chapter 2
chapter 2 to my season 1 AU fic where Daniel remembers the devil's minion era. Read it below or here
It's crucial to not let on that he remembers. Daniel isn't sure how, but he's certain they did something to make him forget. Can vampires do that?
Armand probably could, he was the stronger of the two. Louis' mind gift really only kicked in after he drank Armand's blood. Daniel remembers them talking about it one time...
They're all three in bed together, Daniel in the middle of them. Louis isn't always with them, but Daniel always enjoys when he is. Louis places a soft kiss on his shoulder and Daniel turns to kiss him. Thinks about fucking Louis and letting Armand watch. Armand likes to watch.
He shares the idea with Louis mentally, and is disappointed when he hears nothing back. On the other side of him, Armand laughs. “He can't hear you. His mind gift isn't as strong as mine.”
“I see you two talk to each other like that all the time.”
“It's different with other vampires,” Louis says, dipping back in to kiss him briefly.
“There is a way you could hear him,” Armand says innocently.
Louis grins and crawls over to Armand. “Uh-huh. Or you just wanna show off.”
“Can't it be both?”
Louis laughs fondly and kisses Armand. Daniel feels that familiar spike of jealousy, but pushes it down. What else can he do? He won't take the risk and force Armand to choose. Besides, he likes Louis.
Louis breaks away from kissing Armand's mouth to trailing kisses down his jaw to his neck. Then he sinks his teeth into him and drinks. Armand moans and tosses his head back. He's so fucking pretty it hurts. One of Louis's hands caresses Armand's neck while the other hand goes down to his cock and starts working it.
Daniel feels that twist of jealousy surge again. Armand must sense it, because he reaches out a hand. “Come here, darling.”
Daniel takes the hand and lets himself be tugged forward. Then Armand is kissing him and nothing else matters.
Then Louis's voice in his head. “Wanna give him a show?”
Daniel guesses it's true what they say; great minds really think alike.
/
When he's let into the tower, he tries to act natural. Just seeing Louis again is enough to send up a swell of emotion. Love, anger, affection, irritation. But of course, he had to love Louis. Louis was the star Armand orbited around and he was stuck in Armand's gravitational pull. How could he not also love him? Not the same way he loved Armand, but love all the same.
Daniel jokes about Louis being the most dangerous man in the world. Carefully doesn't let his gaze linger on Armand, who hasn't even been introduced. He's just acting as some thus nameless servant. And Daniel isn't about to let his cover slip so he can take a peek at his old lover.
He's gotten better at denying himself the things he wants. It's part of getting clean.
Louis chuckles and tells him he's grown old. “Yeah, well, mortality beats a heavy drum.”
His hand is shaking as he speaks. Daniel hopes Louis either doesn't notice or doesn't care.
“I wasn't sure you remembered me,” Louis says. There's something playful and almost flirtatious in his tone. It's rich, all things considered. Daniel has to fight the urge to snark back at him.
“Your book makes no mention of our prior meeting.” Louis slides the book to him.
Daniel meets his gaze. “Gritty memoir, drugs, humiliation, self-pity kinda thing. Mention vampires in one of those, readers tend to call bullshit.”
Louis sits across from him. “You've had some health concerns of late.”
There's no way Louis can know. “Whole planet's having a moment, I'd say.”
“You have Parkinson's disease, Daniel.”
Nosy fucking vampires. “Yeah. And you've got your own hanger at the airport, privileges on the Royal Meydan Bridge, and zero presence online.”
Daniel wonders whose idea it had been to keep tabs on him, Louis or Armand. He'd love to get a look at Armand's face, but he's playing human. Even the eyes are wrong. But he won't look. He can't. It'll give everything away.
“Have I hit a nerve?”
Louis has the audacity to ask that? He's more of a shit than Daniel remembers. But then, maybe fifty years ago he would have found the idea of these two keeping tabs on him romantic.
“I know the Emirates are big on privacy, and that's probably important to you, but I gotta ask, what does it cost, this haven't-aged-in-half-a-century, killer-view-in-a- directions-anonymity?”
“Quite a lot.” Louis is damn near emotionless.
Daniel rises to his feet. “Only my family and my doctor know I'm sick. I don't dig the one-way hack, yeah?”
Louis at least doesn't say anything to defend himself.
“And here's another question,” Daniel says, looking to the window. “That's the sun out there. Where's your coffin?”
It's a bullshit question, but one he figures he has to ask to maintain appearances. From what Daniel remembers, vampires don't actually have to sleep in coffins, so long as they're protected from the sun. He has foggy memories of sleeping beside Armand in bed.
“You're standing in it.” Louis says, and looks toward Armand. Daniel sneaks a glance his way as well, and nearly misses the window. It lets in the light. Did Armand do that from is iPad?
“I have to be very careful who I let in.” Louis moves to the window and rolls up a sleeve.
Daniel wants to tell him to stop. He knows what he plans and it's unnecessary. Louis sticks his arm in the light and Daniel can hear, can smell his skin sizzle. Instead of watching Louis, Daniel clocks Armand's reaction. He's doing a fairly good job of maintaining his human persona.
It irritates Daniel, that he's so unmoved by seeing him again.
“Yeah, well, things didn't end well the last time,” Daniel says, tugging his collar down to show his scar, “so forgive me if I'm a little nervous.”
Daniel presses play on the tape player and sits down, dropping back into the chair. Louis angry voice shouts out of it “This, after all I told you, is what you ask for, boy?!”
Hears himself, so young, trying to explain that Louis doesn't know what human life is like, that he doesn't know the meaning of his own story. Not that Daniel himself had understood then, but foolish young bravado knows no bounds. Then there's the clattering, the shouting. The attack.
Daniel doesn't exactly remember it completely. It's hazy, like trying to remember a dream. He tries to place Armand there, and the memory slips like sand through his fingers.
Louis speeds over to him and grabs the tape, clicks it off. “You were disrespectful.”
Finally, some goddamn emotion. There's the Louis he remembers.
“I was high,” Daniel says, trying to tread carefully. He can't focus so much on remembering. Armand will catch a whiff. Though Daniel doubts he's listening right now. Why would he be? It's been decades. He probably doesn't give a shit what Daniel thinks. (Once, Daniel remembers asking Armand not to snoop around his thoughts and Armand had promised he wouldn't. But Armand is a liar.)
“You were not worthy of my story then.” Louis says, still bent over him angrily.
Because Daniel cannot resist poking the bear, “Maybe your story wasn't worth telling.”
Louis sits the tape player down and turns away. Daniel wonders if he struck a nerve.
“You've got the tapes. Hire a transcriber. I don't do puff portraiture anymore.”
Louis is back to his seemingly calm disposition, seated on the other end of the couch. “And yet, you got on a plane, with an auto-immune disease, in the middle of a pandemic.”
Well, he has him there.
Daniel doesn't exactly know how to answer without giving away that he remembers. Time to perform. He hopes his acting is up to par. “Alright. That's my voice, but I don't remember it.”
It's not entirely a lie. Daniel grabs his laptop and continues “I ask all the wrong questions.”
“Yes.”
“There's contradictions in your story I never follow up on.”
“Yes.”
“The few good ones I do manage to get out, you steamroll over them. It's not an interview. It's a...It's a fever dream told to an idiot.” Daniel pulls out his glasses and gets ready to go to work. They both know he's doing this.
“Yes.”
“And you? Why again? What's changed?” (Why contact him after all these years? Why now?)
Louis stands. “The world, circumstances. Me, I've changed.” He moves closer to Daniel as he speaks and sits nearer him. “And I, too, find the tapes, lacking.”
Lacking was one word for them. Daniel can see Louis has changed. Was he always like this? Daniel remember warmth, kindness, an ever present thread of melancholia. But he had been more...alive with him, during their time together. He's seems muted and washed out now. A ghost of a man.
He wants the old Louis back.
(And that's what he's here, isn't it? Just chasing ghosts. Chasing Louis and chasing Armand. More Armand, if he's honest.)
It seems Louis just wants what everyone wants. “So, a do-over.”
He sets his equipment to start recording. Louis smiles. “Truth and reconciliation.”
That's what Daniel's hoping for.
“I ask the questions. You answer the questions. Anything that can't be verified I send to my researcher.”
Armand rises to his feet. He doesn't like hearing that, it seems. Daniel practically dares him to say something. Anything. He moves closer and Daniel ignores him.
“No third parties. I write it. You get to see it before it goes to print. I get the final edit.”
“That is not the agreement you signed.”
There's his Armand. Hearing his voice is like a punch to the gut. Daniel wants to get up and scream at him, wants to slap him and shout. It's been decades, but he finds himself as pissed off as ever.
“And one more thing.” Daniel says, pulling off his glasses. He swings his gaze to Armand. “I do my best work one-on-one.”
Armand is irritated, Daniel can see that. Good. It pleases some small, petty part of him.
“Would you see to Mr. Molloy's room?” Louis says, and looks back at Armand. “Have Chef prepare a meal for him. I think it's best we start when our boy's had a rest.”
Our boy. Louis has some nerve calling him that, after all these years.
“I am not your fucking boy!” Daniel says, putting more emotion into that he means. “I'm an old man, with all the triggers that come with it. And I'm ready. So let's do this.”
“I'm Daniel Molloy. It's 10:08 in the morning on June 14, 2022. I'm in the penthouse apartment of the Al Sharaf Towers, across from Mister...”
“Louis de Pointe du Lac.”
“So...Louis” And shit, that was unprofessional, but he can't backtrack now. “How long have you been dead?”

NIMONA, STILL: A MICHAEL J. FOX MOVIE, HOW TO BLOW UP A PIPELINE REVIEWS
Nimona: Directed by Troy Quane and Nick Bruno
A knight is framed for the murder of the Queen. To prove is innocence he reluctantly teams up with a scrappy, shape-shifting teen.
In Nimona, we watch the classic trope of frenemies teaming up to solve a mystery, while confronting their own demons. Yet, this take on the trope feels incredibly fresh and new as it masterfully weaves its political commentary into the story. The commentary handles themes such as political brainwashing and racism in a manner that is easily digestible and not preachy. As well as having genuine LGBT+ representation that is not boiled down to a token. The animation is stunning as Netflix continues to push animation to new limits. The voice acting is very good as we see the cast obviously having fun with their work here. However, the biggest hurdle the film faces is the main character herself, Nimona. To describe her as annoying is an understatement. For the first half of the film, she completely ignores, belittles, and completely disregards the feelings of the framed knight. Her complete lack of self-awareness is very annoying. Thankfully, in the second half, these traits are toned down as she opens up. Overall, if you are looking for a fun, and surprisingly mature animated movie, I highly recommend Nimona.
My Rating: B

Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie. Directed by David Guggenheim
A short kid from Canada becomes the international pop culture darling of the 1980s-only to find the course of his life altered after being diagnosed with Parkinson Disease.
Biographical documentaries about celebrities tend to be the same as we watch an actor talk about their life with friends and colleges. However, Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie feels different. It's a very personal documentary that dives into the vulnerability and emotional turmoil of someone who is slowly deteriorating from Parkinson Disease. Michael J. Fox really opens up in the documentary as he discuss the anger and grief of being diagnosed with a disease such as Parkinson, while still being that optimist that he is. We see the events Fox reveals through archival and recreated footage of Fox's life. The footage is used masterfully as a storytelling tool to convey Fox's narration of his life. Yet, Still is a hard documentary to watch. It's heartbreaking to see the state that Michael J. Fox is in and knowing that his state is only going to get worse. Yet, his optimism still gives you some hope for him as he continues to raise awareness and funding to finding a cure for Parkinson's Disease. Overall, a very good doc to watch out at this years Emmy Awards.
My Rating: A

How to Blow Up a Pipeline: Directed by Daniel Goldhaber
A crew of young environmental activist execute a daring mission to sabotage an oil pipeline.
I can't tell if How to Blow Up a Pipeline is meant to be a serious commentary on environmental activist and the lengths they will go to achieve their message, or if it's a satire on these activist. If the movie's message is for us to care about these activist and their cause, it completely misses the mark. All this movie does is continuing to push the narrative that these environmental activist are ignorant, narcissistic, and stupid. As well as, them demanding the world to change their ways, while not providing any realistic solutions to solve these problems other than destroying public property and pissing everyone off. It was hard to care about these characters when they don't care about the consequences of their actions and how their actions effect others, especially those in poverty. All they care about was their message. With that stated I will say that the movie was well acted and the cinematography was beautiful. As well as there being some well handled moments of tension. However, this movie does not really push its cause forward. If anything, it actually pushes it backwards.
My Rating: C

Psychopathology, Ch. 14
Describe the diagnostic features of neurocognitive disorders and identify three major types.
A neurocognitive disorder involves a significant disturbance or deficit of thinking or memory that represents a marked decline in cognitive functioning. They are caused by physical or medical conditions or drug use or withdrawal affecting the functioning of the brain. The three major types identified in DSM-5 are delirium, major neurocognitive disorder, and mild neurocognitive disorder.
Agnosia: a disturbance of sensory perception, usually affecting visual perception.
Describe the key features and causes of delirium.
Delirium: characterized by symptoms such as impaired attention, disorientation, disorganized thinking and rambling speech, reduced level of consciousness, and perceptual disturbances. Delirium is most commonly caused by alcohol withdrawal, as in the form of DTs, but may also occur in hospitalized patients, especially after major surgery.
Describe the key features and causes of major neurocognitive disorder.
Major neurocognitive disorder: a significant cognitive deterioriation or impairment, as evidenced by memory deficits, impaired judgment, personality changes, and disorders of high cognitive functions such as problem-solving ability and abstract thinking. Dementia is not a normal consequence of aging; rather, it is a sign of a degenerative brain disorder. There are various causes of major neurocognitive disorder, including Alzheimer’s disease and Pick’s disease, and brain infections and disorders.
General paresis: a form of dementia resulting from neurosyphilis.
Late-onset dementia: forms of dementia that begin after age 65.
Early-onset dementia: forms of dementia that begin before age 65.
Describe the key features of mild neurocognitive disorder.
Mild neurocognitive disorder: a milder decline in cognitive functioning. The person with the disorder is able to function but needs to expend greater effort or use compensatory strategies to compensate for cognitive declines.
Describe the key features and causes of Alzheimer’s disease and evaluate current treatments.
Alzheimer’s disease (AD): a progressive brain disease characterized by progressive loss of memory and cognitive ability, as well as deterioration in personality functioning and self-care skills. There is neither a cure nor an effective treatment for AD. Currently available drug treatments offer only modest effects at best. Research into the causes of the disease points to roles for genetic factors and factors involved in the accumulation of amyloid plaques in the brain.
Identify other subtypes of neurocognitive disorders.
Other medical conditions can lead to neurocognitive disorders, including vascular disease, Pick’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, Huntington’s disease, prion disease, HIV infection, and head trauma.
Cerebrovascular accident (CVA): a stroke or brain damage resulting from a rupture or blockage of a blood vessel supplying oxygen to the brain.
Vascular neurocognitive disorder: dementia resulting from repeated strokes that cause damage in the brain.
Aphasia: impaired ability to understand or express speech.
Pick’s disease: a form of dementia, similar to Alzheimer’s disease, but distinguished by specific abnormalities (Pick’s bodies) in nerve celles and the absence of neurofibrillary tangles and plaques.
Amnesia: memory loss that frequently follows a traumatic event such as a blow to the head, an electric shock, or a major surgical operation.
Retrograde amnesia: loss or impairment of ability to recall past events.
Anterograde amnesia: loss or impairment of ability to form or store new memories.
Hypoxia: decreased supply of oxygen to the brain or other organs.
Infarction: the development of an infarct (an area of dead or dying tissue) resulting from the blocking of blood vessels that normally supply the tissue.
Korsakoff’s syndrome: a syndrome associated with chronic alcoholism that is characterized by memory loss and disorientation.
Wernicke’s disease: a brain disorder, associated with chronic alcoholism, characterized by confusion, disorientation, and difficulty maintaining balance while walking.
Ataxia: loss of muscle coordination.
Lewy bodies: abnormal protein deposits in brain cells that cause a form of dementia.
Parkinson’s disease: a progressive disease characterized by muscle tremors and shakiness, rigidity, difficulty walking, poor control of fine motor movements, lack of facial muscle tone, and (in some cases) cognitive impairment.
Huntington’s disease: an inherited degenerative disease that is characterized by jerking and twisting movements, paranoia, and mental deterioration.
Identify anxiety-related disorders and their treatments in older adults.
Generalized anxiety disorder and phobic disorders are the most common anxiety disorders among older people. Problems with anxiety are often treated with anti-anxiety medical or psychological treatment such as cognitive behavioral therapy.
Identify factors associated with depression in late adulthood and ways of treating it.
Factors include the challenge of coping with life changes, such as retirement, physical illness or incapacitation, placement in a residential facility or nursing home; lack of social support as the result of death of a spouse, siblings, lifetime friends, and acquaintances; and need to care for a spouse whose health is declining. Among immigrant groups and people of color, factors such as acculturative stress and coping with racism also play a role. Available treatments for depression in older as well as younger adults include anti-depressant medication, cognitive behavioral therapy, and interpersonal psychotherapy.
Identify factors involved in late-life insomnia and ways of treating it.
Sleep problems, especially insomnia, are common among older adults – more common in fact than depression. Insomnia is often linked to other psychological disorders, medical illness, psychosocial factors such as loneliness and sleeping alone after losing a spouse, and dysfunctional thoughts. Behavioral techniques are effective for treating insomnia in older as well as younger adults.

Psychomotricity in geriatrics: a comprehensive approach to the well-being of seniors
Psychomotricity in geriatrics is a therapeutic approach that uses movement and the body as tools to improve the quality of life of the elderly. It goes far beyond simple physical exercises, looking at the person as a whole, taking into account their emotions, cognition and bodily sensations.
What are the aims of psychomotricity in geriatrics?
Psychomotricity in geriatric medicine has a number of objectives:
- Maintaining or restoring independence: By working on coordination, balance, muscular strength and flexibility, psychomotricity helps the elderly to maintain their independence in activities of daily living.
- Improving quality of life: By reducing pain, increasing mobility, encouraging social interaction and boosting self-esteem, psychomotricity contributes to overall well-being.
- Prevent falls: By working on balance, proprioception and spatial perception, psychomotricity helps to reduce the risk of falls, which are a major source of injury among the elderly.
- Combating social isolation: Psychomotor activities encourage exchanges and social interaction, and create links between people, which is essential for the psychological well-being of the elderly.
- Improving communication: as the body is a universal language, psychomotricity enables people to express emotions and needs that may be difficult to verbalise, particularly in cases of cognitive impairment.
What techniques are used in geriatric psychomotricity?
The techniques used are varied and adapted to each person:
- Psychomotor exercises: These involve coordination, balance, strength and flexibility, such as walking, jumping, juggling, etc.
- Relaxation: Breathing, visualisation and meditation techniques to promote calm and relaxation.
- Manual activities: Modelling, painting, handicrafts to stimulate fine motor skills and creativity.
- Group games and activities: To encourage social interaction and enjoyment.
- Physical techniques: Massages and stretching to relax muscles and improve body awareness.
- Use of objects: Balls, scarves, etc., to stimulate the senses and fine motor skills.
- Dance and music: To encourage physical expression and enjoyment, while improving coordination and rhythm.
What are the benefits of psychomotor therapy in geriatrics?
The benefits of psychomotricity in geriatrics are numerous and affect different levels:
- Physical: Improved muscle strength, mobility and balance, reduced pain and better posture.
- Psychological: Improved mood, reduced anxiety and depression, boosted self-esteem, improved self-image.
- Social: Facilitates social interaction, combats isolation, develops social ties.
- Cognitive: Improves concentration, memory, executive functions and cognitive stimulation.
Who is psychomotricity in geriatrics aimed at?
Psychomotricity in geriatrics is aimed at a wide range of people:
- Independent elderly people wishing to maintain their physical and cognitive fitness.
- Dependent or semi-dependent elderly people requiring personalised support.
- Elderly people suffering from neurodegenerative diseases (Alzheimer's, Parkinson's).
- Elderly people who have suffered a stroke.
In conclusion, psychomotricity in geriatrics is a comprehensive therapeutic approach that helps to improve the quality of life of the elderly by acting on the physical, psychological and social levels. It is complementary to other forms of care and can be practised individually or in groups.

Essential Dental Care Tips for Seniors' Unique Needs
Essential Dental Care Tips for Seniors' Unique Needs
Seniors' Dental Clinic Morgan Hill Care is crucial to preserving their general health and wellbeing. The particular obstacles that people encounter as they age can have an influence on their dental health, so it's critical to address these problems with practical solutions. Our goal at Avenue Dentistry in Morgan Hill, California, is to give our elderly patients individualized dental care so they can maintain healthy smiles into old age.
Unique Challenges Faced by Seniors
1. Reduced Dexterity
Because of diseases like Parkinson's disease or arthritis, many seniors have diminished dexterity, which makes it challenging to properly do everyday oral hygiene duties like brushing and flossing. This may result in dental care neglect and a higher chance of dental issues.
2. Dry Mouth (Xerostomia)

The purpose of desensitizing toothpaste is to lessen discomfort.
Treatments using fluoride: To fortify enamel and guard against decay.
Dietary changes: Steer clear of acidic meals that make sensitivity worse.
Gum Disease Prevention
Maintaining good oral hygiene is crucial in preventing gum disease. Seniors should:
Use fluoride toothpaste and brush twice a day.
To get rid of plaque between teeth, floss every day.
Take into account their dentist's recommendation to use antibacterial mouthwashes.
Education and Awareness
It's critical to educate seniors about the value of maintaining good dental health. They can learn about good dental hygiene habits and the negative effects of disregarding oral health through educational programs offered by community centers.
The Importance of Nutrition
A balanced diet plays a significant role in oral health. Seniors should focus on:
Foods high in calcium: To fortify teeth and bones.
Cutting less on sugary snacks: To lower the chance of cavities.
Maintaining hydration: To aid in the treatment of dry mouth.

Transform Your Health: Discover Stem Cell Therapy at Cell & Co in Malaysia
In the quest for better health and well-being, cutting-edge treatments are revolutionizing how we address chronic conditions, injuries, and the natural aging process. One of the most promising breakthroughs in modern medicine is stem cell therapy, a regenerative treatment that harnesses the body’s natural healing abilities. At Cell & Co in Malaysia, we are proud to offer this transformative therapy, helping individuals optimize their health and regain their vitality. For more info about MSC stem cell visit here.
What Is Stem Cell Therapy? Stem cell therapy is a regenerative medical treatment that uses stem cells to promote healing, repair damaged tissues, and reduce inflammation. Stem cells are unique in that they can differentiate into various types of cells, such as muscle, cartilage, or nerve cells. They also have the ability to self-renew, which means they can continually replicate, producing healthy cells to replace those that are damaged or degenerated.
Stem cells used in therapy can be sourced from the patient’s own body, usually from fat tissue or bone marrow, or they can come from other sources like donated umbilical cord blood. These cells are then injected into the area that requires healing or regeneration, promoting the body's natural repair processes.
How Can Stem Cell Therapy Transform Your Health? Stem cell therapy is a versatile treatment that can address a wide variety of health issues. Here are some of the major areas where stem cell therapy at Cell & Co can make a significant impact:
Chronic Pain Relief and Injury Recovery: For those suffering from chronic pain, especially in the joints, back, or muscles, stem cell therapy offers a non-surgical solution. It has shown remarkable success in treating conditions like osteoarthritis, degenerative joint disease, and tendon injuries. By regenerating damaged tissue and reducing inflammation, stem cell therapy can help patients avoid the need for invasive surgeries and lengthy recovery times.
Anti-Aging and Aesthetic Benefits: Aging is a natural process, but stem cell therapy can slow down its effects by rejuvenating skin, improving hair growth, and restoring vitality. Stem cells can reduce the appearance of wrinkles, improve skin elasticity, and even repair damaged skin cells, offering a natural way to maintain a youthful appearance.
Neurological Conditions and Brain Health: Recent research suggests that stem cell therapy may hold promise for treating neurological conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and stroke. By regenerating neurons and promoting brain health, this treatment could slow disease progression and improve cognitive function, offering hope for individuals suffering from these debilitating conditions.
Autoimmune and Inflammatory Diseases: Patients with autoimmune diseases like lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, and Crohn’s disease often experience chronic inflammation that can significantly impact their quality of life. Stem cell therapy helps modulate the immune system, reducing inflammation and providing relief from painful symptoms.
Why Choose Cell & Co for Stem Cell Therapy? At Cell & Co in Malaysia, we are dedicated to offering cutting-edge regenerative medicine in a compassionate, patient-focused environment. Our team of experienced healthcare professionals is trained in the latest stem cell therapies and technologies, ensuring that each patient receives the highest level of care and personalized attention.

The med/psych system is losing or failing most neurodivergent people. This is the most common theme I am hearing from patients, parents, teachers, and therapists alike. And it’s not just that we are “falling through the cracks” in the system or being neglected, though those are valid concerns. The bigger concern is that the med/psych system is actively harming many neurodivergent people by forcing cultural assimilation.
The current system of treating mental health is designed to force one culture to act like another. Psychiatry in its modern form is still deeply influenced by a history of eugenics, sterilization laws, and incarceration under the guise of treatment.
The pathology paradigm creates separate groups - the ingroup and the outsiders, the normal and the abnormal, the socially acceptable and the socially unacceptable. Treatments and interventions are then sold to the outgroup to “help” them become like the ingroup. Those who still cannot conform even with “help” are assigned to yet a third group - the treatment resistant, the lost causes, the broken people.
A study in 2019 found that psychiatric diagnosis is scientifically meaningless because there is too much subjectivity in diagnosis and not enough understanding of trauma. And when we look beyond simple accuracy and also consider impact, the failure of diagnostic labels becomes clear. Diagnostic labels as they are currently given are worse than useless, they are all too frequently harmful.
Self-image, Depression, and Shutdown
When we receive diagnosis we are typically also indoctrinated into a system of meaning that says we are disordered, diseased, doomed, or broken. What does it do to a person’s self esteem to internalize the idea that their neurology is broken?
Our neurology determines the way we move our bodies, how we feel, and how we think. It is the foundation of our sense of self and our understanding of others. What does it do to a person’s daily motivation and functionality and quality of life to assume that the foundation of their being is flawed? What is the impact on the body of us believing this?
The story of being broken is not a safe story for us to hold. Such intense negativity about Who We Are commonly triggers fear and panic in the short term and chronic freeze or shutdown states, depression, and hopelessness in the long term. Holding a belief that we neurocept as threatening also causes cognitive dissonance and can be perceived as a rupture in the attachment relationship with Self.
To give credit where credit is due, I first began to consider the deep impact of diagnosis after reading about Gary Sharpe’s experience of being diagnosed with Parkinson’s (a type of neurodivergence). In several blog posts, he clearly articulates “just how much the ‘negativity narrative’ and lack of provision of helpful information at diagnosis may still be impacting our condition today.”
Social rejection, abuse, and PTSD
Since society generally listens to neurotypical doctors regarding what traits and behaviors are good/bad, normal/abnormal, right/wrong, etc. neurodivergents are systematically marginalized in every day life. We understandably get the impression that we don’t belong here, that there isn’t space for us in this society.
Parents, teachers, employers, and intimate partners constantly invalidate us, confident that their way of seeing things is the only way, assured that plenty of doctors and scientists agree with them. Many of us become suicidal because we acutely feel this lack of belonging.
Dr. Rebecca Shaw says, “We must be careful of the message we are sending autistic people, that their true self is not acceptable in society. We must work with the autistic community to build a more compassionate society that is more accepting of neurodiversity, so autistic people feel that they belong.’
This is true for all neurodivergent people, not just autistics. The constant messaging that our true self is not acceptable is experienced as emotional and psychological abuse. The pressure to conform to neurotpyical culture also puts us at a higher risk for coercion and abusive relationships.
When our natural way of being in the world is repeatedly threatened, we develop a form of complex PTSD, and become socially avoidant to protect ourselves. This is so common that I do not know a single neurodivergent person who does not have complex PTSD. Isolation becomes our norm, but we want to belong just as much as anyone else.
Mistreatment, Re-Traumatization, and Forced Treatment
The pathology paradigm gaslights us about our natural nervous system responses. Our sensitivity and other unique traits are labeled as dysfunctional. Even in trauma-informed clinics, our evolutionarily adaptive responses to stressors are sometimes labeled “faulty neuroception.” Suppression of neurodivergent traits is marketed as regulation strategies. Common interventions promise to limit how much our stress responses impact others rather than support any actual healing.
Shame from therapists and doctors fuels anxiety and shutdown. I already spoke about the shame that often accompanies stigmatizing diagnosis, but there are many other topics on which neurodivergent people encounter shaming approaches from professionals, particularly – disability, support needs, finances, sexuality, spirituality, relationship styles, learning styles, and communication styles. Professionals (whether they are neurotypical or highly masking neurodivergents) frequently do not realize when they are enforcing a normative cultural ideal.
While speaking different social languages makes relationships difficult, invalidation makes real connection impossible. The neurodiversity paradigm recognizes our different languages and seeks to understand miscommunications instead of pathologizing them. These are some of the reasons that shifting from the pathology paradigm to the neurodiversity paradigm is essential liberation work.
