For some reason, I really miss you cassette tapes with the accordion-folded paper booklet inside the plastic casing that had all the correct lyrics. That's probably the reason I miss you, because everything else was uhh...Sometimes the delicate tape strip would loosen inside the player and then had to get disentangled from the jaws of the ferocious radio (gods help you if it was in the car's cassette player) and we had to stick a pencil into one of the two holes and wind it up again so that the tape was not disemboweled it was like surgery. But if you had the right type of player then you could get a blank one and Frankenstein together a playlist by recording the songs from the albums over the blank cassette and then swapping the album cassettes out. Shuffling was not an option. But these mixed tapes were painstaking efforts that made a thoughtful gift. But the most annoying thing was if I wanted to loop a song then I had to press the rewind button and wait 20 seconds and it was like a miniature grim reaper was harvesting precious moments from the finite time in my life only because I wanted to listen to a three-minute song for the fiftieth time in a row oh I remember now I despise you cassette tapes my nemesis my beloathed my
