@sporkandpringles's tags - SO true! Tuvok is a prude who hates fun and loves to lie for the sake of personal convenience and I adore him for it.

We must stop interpreting Tuvok's rejection of spice as indicative of Vulcans as a whole and focus in on it as an individual failing that falls on his shoulders alone...

#He justifies the fact he didn't lie to Chakotay with 'I was behaving within the parameters of my mission' SO #When Tuvok says 'Vulcans can lie but I've never found it necessary outside missions' that's not a lie...it certainly isn't NECESSARY....but #'I haven't found it necessary to lie' does NOT mean 'I don't lie'#When he says 'Vulcans do not' I have no doubt that CERTAIN Vulcans do not do X....you Tuvok for example don't want to do X.#I love Tuvok I want to get into his mind and his thoughts about truth vs lying especially when it comes to being a literal spy #I saw a cool post about it before...aaa it was about (poor summary)#how living life and interacting with others ALWAYS has some degree of falsehood inherent in it. You don't show 100% of yourself all the tim #- what is a lie? what is 'truth' ? what is 'true identity'?#When someone interacts with you without knowing the full scope of your being - are you somehow lying to them?#If you interact with someone in the capacity of boss and subordinate you aren't showing them who you might be as a father or a son or frien #- is this a 'lie' ?#Is 'I want to join the Maquis' a lie if the other person assumes incorrectly that you believe in their cause?
