My review below (each rating out of 5): Art: 🥵🥵🥵 Plot: 😏😏😏 Character Development: 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 I came for the unique Buddhist priest setting and childhood friends plot of Yuuji x Saburou, but stayed for the side couple, Kenji (Yuuji’s pretty, asshole brother) and Yoshito (dopey neighbor with big dick??). 3 volumes in, I found myself trying to get through Yuuji and Saburou’s plot quickly so I could see what would happen with Kenji and Yoshito. Thinking back, sure, Yuuji and Saburou are super devoted to each other, but the most hopelessly devoted one is Yoshito. While for me, Yuuji and Saburou’s story became a little boring and predictable after a while, all the drama ended up with Kenji and Yoshito. I mean... their subplot includes another sexy priest.

I've hardly read any manhwa, and even though I've read a good amount of bl manga (sorry I haven't read any gl manga, only seen some anime), I have the memory of a goldfish and have forgotten a lot of them because I don't keep track of them as much. That's why I gravitate more towards anime.

This is going to be the most basic list ever but some of my favorites are:

Sasaki to Miyano and Given (I know I put them on my romance list, but I love the manga for them too).

Omairi desu yo (Beautiful Priest) is really great!

Babylon and by extension X/1999. They're not technically categorized as BL, but I love CLAMP and the relationship character dynamics are so interesting.

Umibe no Étranger: The movie was a little...all over the place, but I loved the manga

Seven days

Hidamari ga Kikoeru (I Hear the Sunspot)

Cello Mellow: I think this was actually a collection of oneshots. I don't remember much about it, but I know I rated it highly

Not a manga but obviously I also love Heaven Official's Blessing too! All of the author's characters are so well written and so heartbreaking and uplifting at the same time 😭

Overall, I think hiranospiercing's lists are much better than mine. A lot of these are on my reading list

Also if anyone has any GL recommendations, help this person out!

Thanks for the notification! That’s both great news for Yamamoto-sensei, who’s long deserved to have her work recognized and terrible news because...well, I’ve heard nothing but bad reviews of Futekiya’s translation and quality (and also IIRC it’s a subscription service? so RIP anyone who wanted to actually own content).

I encourage fans of the series to really stay on top of the licensors to let them know you expect and demand quality output for these beloved series.
