Want to see me struggle with the hand tracking in vrchat? Note that there isn’t much audio. I am using the oculus quest three as I was gifted it some days ago. Been using it for the past few days. Can’t move too much as I get motion sickness easily. Lol. Been taking a few photos on my adventures on my own. I just been going to the drawing worlds. Will post those photos later. Mainly been by myself as I am nervous to be around people in this game.

So the Nintendo Switch 2 Demo costs TEN DOLLARS. TEN!!!

Guys, let it be a reminder, I have an Oculus Quest 2 (I’m not calling it Meta Quest) that costs $150 less than the Nintendo Switch 2.

Not to mention it has a free, pre downloaded demo where it not only gives a strong introduction to the Oculus Quest itself, but in this demo YOU CAN DANCE WITH A CUTE ROBOT AND SHOOT OBJECTS IN SPACE. This is a demo so good, that I even replay it to this day. No demo has ever made me do that.

As for games, Mario Kart World is $80 and Donkey Kong Bananza is worth $70 that is $150 IN TOTAL.
Compare it to Virtual Virtual Reality. I have played this game hell and back. This game bursts with creativity and weirdness. It has a well written story, it’s tense with it’s moments while being ridiculous with others, it has A TON of deep lore (seriously Game Theory, make a video on this game please), weird yet charming characters, you can talk to a stick of butter, AND YOU CAN MOVE THE SUN. All for the price of $25.

Not only that, you can also get Time Stall, a game where you chaos control an entire room to save this ADORABLE LIL ROBOT GOOBER!!!

It’s funny, filled with charming characters, and HOW COULD YOU NOT WANT TO SAVE THAT GOOBER FROM BEING DISMANTLED?! All for $25.

In total, you can get both games for $50, that is worth less than a regular Nintendo Switch game. It’s honestly baffling how passionate games are worth less than just good games that are stupidly expensive.
Anyways yeah, go check out both games I ranted about, even if you don’t have a VR Headset, go check out the gameplays. It is way more deserving of recognition than other VR Games like Beat Saber and Job Simulator (not that I hate them, I love them as well)

Updates I want to see in Genshin, grouped up loosely
Major:
Skip button. Barring that, something like a 20x speed option that also auto-selects dialogue choices for you. Would be great if it also did the on-rails “gameplay” sections like walking after an NPC.
Ability to disengage from quests and set them as inactive. The fact that this is still an issue and that the only “fix” they’re doing is for newly unlocked story quests is a bad joke. We should be able to set ALL quests as inactive if we want to, even if that means losing progress in them.
The interactive map mat locator should be in-game. If they must keep those “local specialty” passives relevant, then make it so that the locations only appear on the main map but not the mini map.
Gadget to switch Traveler element without going to a statue of the seven.
Gadget for removing enemy aggro. It’s ridiculous that you can stand on a cliff where an enemy can’t reach you for 10 minutes, but they won’t de-aggro.
Similarly, a gadget to keep enemies from aggroing unless you bump into them or attack them.
Artifact presets. We all know this one.
General:
Recall all and send again option for expeditions.
A gadget that stacks all those “crumpled letter” and “ragged notebook” items crowding up one of the inventory sections.
A gadget that records the texts in the overworld that you can interact with but do not pick up. It should list where it was found and what it said. This is for the lore fans, lol.
Some improvement to the achievement-related commission RNG. At minimum, earlier steps in the commission chain should be removed from the pool of possible commissions, and ideally the entire chain should get removed once you’re done. (me personally mad about getting the Bantan Sango Misdirection quest three times and yet being unable to finish the whole chain)
Cooldowns should reset when you reset an Abyss floor. This is basic. And before anyone asks, we know it’s possible because there were a couple of combat events where resetting the challenge also reset cooldowns.
Add a shop for TCG coins, similar to the teapot one.
Option to have companions sit in the teapot.
Gadget updates:
Merge treasure compasses into one gadget that you forge additional modules for in new regions.
Seed box should always be active without needing to be equipped. It should give you the “limit reached” warning when you pick up the 20th seed but only then, not afterwards.
Red feather fan should be useable in flight.
Artificial warming seelies and oculus resonance stones should be activated from the menu, without needing to be equipped.
Ideally, some way to just select “region-appropriate fishing rod” without having to manually switch each time, but this one is a long-shot.

Blog Post 17: Full Player Testing & Stress Testing VR Performance
With the environment polished and all core mechanics stable, we initiated a series of full player tests to simulate real gameplay scenarios from start to finish. Our main goals were identifying overlooked bugs, measuring VR comfort, and confirming that the environment encouraged intuitive exploration.
Each team member took turns playing the experience using the Oculus Quest 2 headset, while others observed, taking notes on navigation flow, performance drops, or gameplay confusion points. We also enlisted a few classmates to act as external testers, providing valuable first-time player feedback.
Several minor issues were quickly identified: players occasionally missed visual clues guiding them towards stone puzzles, and some teleports inside narrow corridors felt slightly cramped. I adjusted lighting contrast levels and opened up certain paths slightly to improve clarity without reducing challenge.
Performance-wise, thanks to earlier optimizations, the experience ran smoothly at a consistent frame rate, significantly reducing potential VR sickness risks.
The testing phase validated our belief that a strongly designed environment acts as an invisible guide, subtly shaping player decisions without overt instructions. Watching players naturally explore, solve puzzles, and escape reinforced the strength of our environment-first design approach.

Blog Post #01- 15/02/2025
Today I started brainstorming ideas for my VR game project in Unreal Engine for the Oculus Quest 2. I was thinking about a few concepts like an underwater exploration game, a cozy VR café experience, or even a small horror escape room. But honestly, I couldn’t decide. I kept switching between ideas. I spent the whole week just researching and watching different gameplay videos for VR inspiration. I didn’t get much done except gathering thoughts.

Portfolio, Documentation and Pitch (Aryan Raj Adhikari)
Level Design #3
This will be a very short draft as I just document dressing up the scene with assets that can be handpicked using the VR headset.
If you load the default VR template inside the Unreal Engine, you can pretty much see that the level is baked with blueprints for VR assets. Blueprints in Unreal Engine are a very powerful scripting system that allows developers to create elements of gameplay using a node-based interface.
Figure 1 (Grabbable Blueprint)
The default VR level already comes with a grabbable blueprint with a cube primitive for its static mesh. Since the blueprint is already laid out, I didn't need to do any scripting except replace the static mesh with our choice of stylized assets.
Do keep in mind that the assets do need to have materials assigned to them before you assign them to the grabbable blueprint. For demonstration purposes, I assigned the static mesh of the stylized CRT TV and replaced it with the cube.
Figure 2 (Grabbable CRT TV)
Be very wary of the lightmap density each assets possesses. As a quick reminder, the color map for the light density should be around the green color. In the picture below, some of the debris pile have a blue color to it, which implies that I need to increase the lightmap density.
Figure 3 (Lightmap density)
You can increase the density of the lightmaps of the assets by typing "lightmap" in the asset details. Make sure to enable the 'Overridden Light Map Res' and increase the value of the density exponentially with the power of 2.
Figure 4 (Increasing lightmap density)
I also add a 'VRPawn' actor to the scene. It acts as a starting point for when we start our VR game for our character. At this point, I am just moving the camera actor around and checking whether I can find a really a good place for our VR character.
Figure 5 (Adding a VRPawn to the scene)
I am manually placing assets where I deem it fit for the scene. The aim of this theme is to make a VR level with assets from different time periods that can coexist together, and I certainly believe, that I am close to completing the level so that I could move to the most difficult phase, i.e. exporting an apk build for the Oculus Quest 2.

VR Project: Week 1 Blog 1
The Brief
We got our initial brief for the second part of semester B on 12th February 2025, The brief was set by apache which is a XR studio in St Albans. They have been in the immersive reality industry for over 12 years now and have worked with various clients from across the media and entertainment world for example Disney, Sony and Mercedes-Benz. The initial brief of this assignment is to create an environment playable on an Oculus Quest 2 that sensibly features objects from all time and space. This leaves a lot of room to work with while also being creative about how one approaches the restrictions of space and time.

Available at: https://www.hollywoodinsider.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/The-Hollywood-Insider-Up-Tribute-Pixar.png (Accessed: 14 November 2024). My initial idea, while sitting in the class was to make something inspired by the Disney Movie "UP', where the main player is "Carl Fredricksen", and his objective is to protect his floating house from colliding with the buildings, birds and surrounding topology. The gameplay would be similar to subway surfer where the house would be moving forward and the left and right movements could be controlled by the rudders attached to a lever, similar to a motorboat, where u turn the lever left to move the boat to the right and vice-versa

The thing that makes this concept different from Subway Surfer is the independence to have verticle movement, where the player can use the VR interactions to blow a new balloon to make the house go up or grab a stick beside them and pop one of the balloons to make the house go down. all these movements will be motivated by the objective of avoiding obstacles. The environment would majorly just be things popping up from the cloud layer like the once shown in Fig 1.3. which would drastically help with overall scene optimization and asset management.

Blog Post 10: Full Maze Population and Environment Refinement
Entering the second week, our focus shifted toward populating the full maze environment. Using Kamal’s ruins, Steve’s sculptures, and my updated blockouts, we worked systematically through the maze, room by room, filling spaces with atmospheric details.
My priority was maintaining navigational clarity without losing tension. Maze paths were designed to look confusing but still intuitively guide players towards puzzle areas through environmental hints like broken light paths, statue placements, and ruin density.
Joel assisted heavily at this stage, offering a fresh pair of eyes on compositions and suggesting better asset placements for gameplay flow. Together, we ensured that stone puzzles were reachable but guarded by the maze’s environmental complexity.
Performance considerations stayed top of mind. We closely monitored polygon counts and material draws, optimizing wherever possible to keep the Oculus Quest 2 experience smooth. Dynamic lighting and particle effects were added sparingly to maintain frame rates without sacrificing atmosphere.
Despite some areas needing last-minute refinements, the maze environment began feeling truly immersive, a vast, intimidating space full of secrets, danger, and history.
