#Oc: phyllis

This piece doesn’t necessarily have a proper title, as it was solely intended to be an exercise in writing a new character for the first time. I have it saved in my documents as ‘Meet Phyllis’. Phyllis is an old hollywood actress character, the kind with a transatlantic accent. Gray is a renowned designer, and is admittedly my ‘Spamton EX turned OC’ guy. (<333)

‘Phyllis’

“You’d probably like that, wouldn’t you, Graycie?” Phyllis whispers, placing her fingers delicately under the tailor’s chin. He exhales, turning his face away from her nearly ever-present touch.

“Miss Phyllis, please, do not call me that. Just ‘Gray’ is sufficient.” He clears his throat. “And either you take the measurements yourself, or you kindly refrain from those types of comments as you allow me to take them.”

Phyllis laughs, a practiced sound, but allows Gray to take the measurements without too many interjections. Each passing remark is met with the same soft sigh, which only encourages her to keep playing her game.

“Thank you for your… for the most part, cooperation.” The pliable tape measure is neatly folded in half and placed around the neck of its tailor. “Now, to discuss the specifics again… you wish for me to take this dress, and completely change it into another?”

“That’s correct, pumpkin. I’m sure it’ll be no trouble for a man of your talent and caliber.”

He blinks twice at the woman standing before him, his mind searching for the most professional way to say no that will result in her actually accepting it as an answer.

“My talent has nothing to do with the fact that you are asking me to perform nothing short of a miracle in… what is it, two days until your event?”

“Which again. Should be no trouble for you, right, Graycie? Especially for me, your favorite client?”

Gray clenches his teeth and inhales sharply through his nose. He huffs out a laugh and shakes his head. With any other client, he would simply say no, the timeline doesn’t match the task at hand. But with Phyllis, he knows that isn’t an option for him.

“Let’s discuss what is possible to accomplish in two days’ time. Or potentially overnight, if you’re willing to pay the surcharge convenience fee.”

The actress takes it upon herself to settle onto one of the velvet couches that reside towards the back of the shop. She pats the space next to her, expectantly, as she agrees to reach a compromise. Not without rolling his eyes, Gray gingerly perches next to the starlet on the couch. He holds a small notebook in hand, and roughly sketches someone wearing the dress that has been brought to him. As he is explaining what he has to work with, changes and alterations he can make, Phyllis slowly makes her way closer and closer until she is leaning gently against his arm. At first, Gray ignores her advances and tries to remain focused on finding a middle ground that they can both agree on price and design-wise. His facade snaps when Phyllis nearly attempts to crawl into his lap.

“Phyllis.” The name is uttered in a far more stern tone than his typically even-keeled voice. “My dear. You simply must stop doing this to me, or else I will have to kindly ask you to find another tailor.”

This catches her off guard, the unexpected pushback causing her an unusual discomfort she seldom feels. She removes herself from his person and scoots back to create a bit of space between them, yet remains silent.

“That’s much better.” Another beat of silence passes, and Gray feels a small twinge of guilt. “Darling, don’t look so forlorn. I’m not upset with you, I just need space to work. To think.”

In a rare stroke of affection, Gray places a single finger under her chin to tilt her gaze back up towards his own. “Phyllis.” He repeats, softer this time, peering over his small, square framed glasses at her. “You know I’ll always give you the best I can, and for a reasonable price. There’s no need for all this…” He swirls his free hand around. “…extra flair, as it were.”

Phyllis smiles, an awkward, lopsided, true smile. Her laugh is light and airy, distinctly natural, and she shrugs her shoulders.

“You’re right, sugar. Old habits die hard, I suppose.”

They share another beat of silence. Their gaze says enough, maybe even more than words ever could.

“Again, I’m not upset with you. About the… breach of my personal space, that is. As for why you chose to approach me with this task two days before a movie premiere, knowing I could have given you every alteration and addition on your wishlist if you visited last week or earlier… there may be some hard feelings there.”

This makes Phyllis laugh again, a loud, honking sound. She agrees to be as reasonable as she can be, and will attempt to reach a compromise that she is happy with. He places his hand gently over her knee as a small olive branch, and continues sketching different configurations of possibilities. She rests her hand atop his, gently running her thumb along his smooth and oddly cool skin. When they finally reach an agreement, she offers his hand a light squeeze that he reciprocates.

“Can I thank you, Mr. Sterling?” She can’t help herself as she flutters her eyelashes. Gray rolls his eyes and shakes his head with a soft chuckle.

“Not until the dress is finished… you have a lot of faith in me, Phyllis Louise.”

With another delicate, almost reflexive laugh, she stands and once again curls her fingers under his chin.

“I’ll get you one day, you handsome devil, you.” She blows him a kiss and walks out of the shop, leaving him with no less than the impossible to do with one dress in one night.

Looks like I'm gonna get my unemployment suport after all, even if delayed 8w8/ I'll be able to pay my bills, and with yalls help I still got a bit of a safety buffer. Thank you everyone for your help!!!

All week my unemployment aid has been saying I'm suposed to get 5k kronor today which would be enough to cover bills and rent. Today I get a message from them that Actually, they need another proof of work form for the gig I did over summer. So till they get that, AND one of them has time to sit and look at it, I get Nothing. And seeing as christmas is commign up, they're probably gonna be busy so this is just Great Stuff This :( I have a handfull of commissions in que rn that I've allready been paid for, but that money is just about enough to cover groceries, gas, and meds. My bills and rent amount to about 600 USD, and I am allready in debt and dont want to have to take out another loan to stay housed. If I could get 4 Reference Sheet commissions in, I could cover my bills. I also take Transformation/Growth Sequence commissions that would help me greatly. is this all self indulgent? yeah but it’s MY blog i do what i want ……😈

His name is Dolly (nickname)! He’s an ex-pop of some variety (no idea if i wanna make him a prime asset or not because i feel like id breach mary sue territory ((im the only person who cares abt that)) and hgh)…he’s mostly mute due to his mask muffling his voice!! the mask has a tube that goes into his mouth and down his throat to basically force him to breathe <\3

He’s VERY clingy and affectionate to the other ex-pops, specifically Coyle, Franco, & Gooseberry. They don’t necessarily return his affections but they can’t do anything but take it, not like they can kill him, though it’s nice sometimes when he’s not trailing behind them like a lost dog

He’s particularly keen on Coyle, not in a romantic sense (or sexual, or anything really) but he sees him as an authority figure only because he was a cop. Coyle enjoys that part but not when he interrupts his “investigations” to grab his arm or something. He tends to hug him from behind which will scare the shit out Coyle if he’s not paying attention, and he will thrash until Dolly either lets go or he gives up lmao 😭

With Franco, they both don’t really know what to make of each other but Dolly thinks he’s adorable (in a murder-y sense HAHA), usually doting on him or trying to coddle him randomly. Which Franco gets a kick out of unless he’s actually trying to do something then he looses his rag a bit at him (and Gooseberry makes him say sorry) ((he won’t))

Gooseberry is Dolly’s FAVORITE, mostly because out of all the prime assets she’s the most receptive towards his physical affection, always accepting his hugs and doesn’t mind that he follows her around. She is after all a “mother”, so to her he’s just a clingy child. However if he breaks anything in the orphanage she will put him on time out 😓

He’s confused by the reagents mostly, he’s not the brightest and has no idea why they run away from him, however he does tend to hurl explosives at people for shits and gigs so maybe that’s why (he won’t put two and two together)

Pitcher, Pusher & the grunts find him more than a little irritating, mostly because he tends to get in the way of them doing their jobs (murdering reagents)

He’s easily stunned and a good brick to the face will knock him flat for a bit, but he all thinks this is a fun little game </3

Dolly’s whole get up is inspired by the one gimp outfit from the unholy night pack, haven’t figured out a lore reason why he’d wear it other than he’s gay i guess, but he does like to cross dress (much to the disgruntlement of Coyle, who has probably hurled a few slurs at him from time to time, Gooseberry just loves to help him dress up and Franco doesn’t care enough about what he’s doing when he’s not babying him, just assumes Dolly’s a pervert)

Hiii soeey for bothering u but do u have any Mother gooseberry and franco hcs? Those 2 have been in my head all day

I have infinite headcanons that I can spit out about these two. Coyle is a little harder bc sometimes all I can think about is beating him up for the funnies, but these two? They make up my brain chemistry.

MOTHER GOOSEBERRY

- Reagents picked up on the "the goose in on the loose" line and will now use that to tell their fellow reagents that she's out and about.

- Sweet tooth, but not to the same level as Franco. She likes cakes and pies and cookies and will choose those first over anything else, while he goes for candy and sugary drinks.

- I'm projecting here but she LOVES cinnamon. The only complaint she's ever gotten about one of her baked goods was there being too much cinnamon. She had to politely explain that that simply wasn't possible, and then Futterman had to explain that they needed to shut the fuck up, and then shut the fuck up.

- She likes to hum to herself a lot. I feel like she hums and sings whenever it's too quiet and Futterman gets mad she just won't let there be silence.

- Massive fan of comfy sweaters. She likes the light fabric of her blouse but a good comfy sweater is where it's at for her.

- Her favorite season is spring! She also likes winter (for the cozy sweaters and baked goods, obvi), but spring is when everything comes to life. Futterman would eat a bee though.

- She loves to sniff flowers but I think she'd have allergies :( But the funny thing is she's not the one who sneezes, it's Futterman.

- Likes the thought of having her nails painted but as soon as they chip she's gotta take all of the polish off. Partially nervous picking, partially bc she thinks it looks bad.

- If she's not feeling absolutely bloodthirsty and catches you she just picks you up by the back of the neck and holds you there. Naughty reagents go in air jail.

- Has a collection of pretty skirts but she feels like she never has anywhere nice to wear them. Someone let her show off her nice skirts.

- This woman is a lesbian and I will not be debating. Futterman says some... awful things about it. Damn homophobic goose.

FRANCO

- Even though he tells you to watch the suit, he knows that thing is a mess. Having something nice on just makes him feel a little less ugly and you BETTER not ruin it.

- Cuddles with Lupara sometimes, it brings him comfort even if it's genuinely uncomfortable.

- Winking at him if he catches you in a hiding spot will get you a 5 second head start to run for your life. God help you if he catches you though, you don't play with his feelings like that and get away with it.

- Would have, without a doubt, been the kid who tried to drink a spoonful of vanilla extract bc it smelled good.

- Would also eat a spoonful of sugar but he'd actually enjoy that. He's not kidding about that sweet tooth.

- I don't care WHAT the game shows, this man is itty bitty. 5 foot 3 at best. I'm leveling this playing field, give us our short king Red Barrels!

- His hearing is bad on the side with the visible injuries. It's why he shoots first when he hears a noise, he doesn't know what the hell he just heard and he'd rather be safe than sorry.

- Has a hard time keeping what he's drinking off of his shirt or from running down his chin. Not like he's trying to be elegant when he drinks that cocktail.

- If you offered him skim milk he'd kill you on the spot. This is a WHOLE MILK HOUSEHOLD.

- I don't think his "mommy" would need to be a woman tbh. I think fulfilling the mothering role would be enough for him most of the time. Besides, tiddy is tiddy.

It's so tempting to put in all my silly headcanons for Franco bc I love him but I will refrain from the Cringe
