Mermay ended yesterday, but I’m sitting on the beach at this very moment so let’s fucking do this:
🌴🐬BEACH HEAD CANNONS!!!🐬🌴
Chara
❤️ They are actually rather neutral over the ocean. Far more of a skipping stones and playing in the lake kind of kid. Though, they do have a respect for the water’s raw power and changing tides. (Also seeing how much Undyne loves it made them want to appreciate the ocean more)
❤️ Thanks to being attached to Frisk’s soul, they kinda have to go to the beach all the time now. They like to go out as far as they can and walk along to the bottom, or float above Frisk and try to freak them out.
❤️ All that being said, they ADORE sharks. They nerd out every time they get to go to the aquarium. (Then get kinda embarrassed about it).
❤️ They have (on more than one occasion) convinced Frisk that because they’re a ghost they can see all the ghosts of everyone who’s drowned, and that yes, pirates ARE coming to get them...... It backfired at the notion that now Frisk WANTED to go meet the ghost pirates.
❤️ Had a brief period of wanting to be a mermaid, purely because A) Not a human and B) Typically man eaters. It suited their style
Frisk
❤️ They LOVE the ocean.... or rather, they love the beach. There’s one right at the edge of Ebbott City, so in the summer, they get to go up every weekend or so. And you can bet on that weekend, they have an absolute ball with whomever family/friend took them this time.
❤️ Their favorite part is exploring. They love to run around on the beach, looking for shells or any critters, as well as going out into as deep as the can in the ocean (usually only to be called back by their mom). Speak of the devil, Toriel bought them a snorkeling kit for their gotcha day and that thing has been used religiously ever since!
❤️ Every time they go the the car to go home, Frisk has to be checked by an adult (not either of the skelebros, they are WAY to lenient on this one) to make sure that they don’t have any stow away sea critters. One too many times of Frisk trying to keep a pet crab.
❤️ They take swimming lessons from Undyne! There were only a couple of misunderstandings over wether or not a humans could breathe underwater, but its all been sorted out! They’re doing really well!
❤️ They refuse to learn how to dive. Undyne has been trying to teach them for MONTHS now. It’s cannon ball or nothing, and they’re determined to keep it that way.
Flowey
❤️ Back when he was Asriel, he’d wanted to see the ocean. They don’t exactly have HUGE bodies of water in the underground like that, basically only the river. And no one swims in the river. Add in Chara’s talk of mermaids and their stories about lakes and skipping stones and all that.... It had been a big goal of his. Now that he’s there, and without the capabilities to swim or get in the water, and without the person who said they’d show him the surf.... it’s uh, it’s lost its appeal.
❤️ Frisk and Papyrus tried to get him to go out in one of those dog floaties. It looked pretty ridiculous and nearly tipped over a couple of times. Inevitably it was decided that it was just best to just keep him on the shore or in the shallows strapped to someone’s chest.
❤️ Usually he just sits on the shore with Paps, Frisk, or Toriel. He (begrudgingly) likes to make sand castles. He’s actually gotten quite good at them. Either that or eat nice cream.
❤️ Papyrus made him tiny sunglasses. He wears them every time they go to the beach.
❤️ When he does go into the water, he likes to stick his head under the serf and try to find fish. He actually managed to catch one in his mouth once, both impressive and terrifying.
Toriel
❤️ She is fond of the beach. Not so much the water, but she does enjoy the occasional swim with Frisk. Would probably like going out on a boat, though she has never tried it.
❤️ Usually while the rest of the family swims, she’s on the shore in her beach chair, reading a good book and keeping a watchful eye on her kids. She can usually get through half of the thing before its time to go home.
❤️ That being said, when she does go out in the water (usually to cool off or check on Frisk and/or Flowey) she is remarkably good at floating along. That, and she’s abit of a beast when it comes to X-treme monkey in the middle. That lady is huge and can use that height when she needs to. Also she has to shake off when she gets out of the water.
❤️ She ALWAYS has a beach bag on her, and in that beach bag is pretty much anything you’d ever hope to need. Pool toys, goggles, fresh water, extra sunscreen, at least three books, money, Your scocial security number, you name it.
❤️ Toriel’s usually the go to ‘hold tired swimmer gently’ person. And has done so for everyone in the main cast but Mettaton and Undyne. You could just fall asleep in those big ole’ arms.
Sans
❤️ He’s, as with most things, pretty nuetral about the ocean. Though, he adores the fact that it’s a day he can just slack off and relax in the sun (and sometimes water). He’s usually on the beach in a beach chair or sitting in a pool floaty, just drifting along. Sometimes he’s just latched onto Paps or Toriel, it’s kinda a wild card where he is at any given time.
❤️ He has never been sober ONCE while at the beach with the family. Mostly thanks to the fact that he somehow always has a martini in hand. No one knows where he gets it, let alone how it is almost always at least half way full. Needless to say, he’s at least buzzed by the end of the day.
❤️ Every time they go to the beach, he wears the most insane sunglasses. I’m talking Elton John style, but if they came from dollar tree. Normally it’s a pineapple pair, but they change on a whim. Once again, no ones entirely sure where they come from.
❤️ He briefly moved the illegal hotdog stand to beach, before the threat of getting fined was close enough to scadattle. This, the limited addition ‘Colddogs’ (now for 5g, wait he meant 50g, actually its 500-) became a thing. They were followed shortly by ‘Frozendogs’ (available in 50 flavors!)
❤️ The two never breathe a word of it, but every once in awhile Papyrus will rent a canoe and the two of them will go out on the water. They only do this at the dead of night, when the water is still and clear. Way out past the buoys, where it’s hard to see the shore, the moon and the stars bounce off the water in a shifting, funhouse esc reflection. Being out there, together, in practically silence..... It brings a lot of comfort to the two of them. It reminds Sans that yeah, this is real, and some things are worth remembering.
Papyrus
❤️ Paps is very fond of the shallows, but not a huge fan off big, open water. Unless he’s in the comfort of a canoe or boat. It’s just too big of a space. One can feel so... alone out there. But!! If he’s in chest or higher or with a group of close friends, he’s good!!
❤️ He bought special spandex gloves to wear in the water, ones that cover his fingers and palms without being skin (bone???) tight. They help him tread the water better, since he’s the opposite of buoyant. Which is definitely the only reason he bought them! No other reason in sight! Why would you even ask that?!
❤️ He, Undyne, and Frisk play ALOT of beach games, all far more extreme than their originals. The current turnomemt is over X-Treme volleyball, this time featuring antigravity magic and spears. Frisk is, somehow, winning.
❤️ A good portion of the time, he eats nice cream and makes sand castles with Flowey. Their creations are startlingly structurally sound and flourished. Though, they are also usually next to a life sized sand-Papyrus. No one knows where the sand came from.
❤️ He tried catch and realease shark fishing with Undyne once. It um, got interesting to say the least. Especially when they tried to use Papyrus as live bait. They only had to go to the ER twice!
Undyne (Aka my entire reason for writing this)
❤️ Undyne doesn’t love the ocean. She doesn’t even like the ocean. She ADORES the ocean. You can find her there almost every day after work, sun or storm. She never realized how much she would thrive in salt water until she was there, and now she can’t believe she lived without it. Its so raw and passionate and buetiful, and she’s just at home in the waves.
❤️ Her favorite time to be out is during a good storm, when the ocean is at her roughest. Undyne has learned how to boogie board and body surf since she got on the surface, and uses those huge waves to catch some air. She WANTS to learn how to surf, but has yet to find someone to teach her. Storms are also the best for letting the water roll over her and letting herself drift in the tides, both are pretty damn amazing feelings.
❤️ Because she can breathe and see under the water, she also likes to swim out really deep into the open ocean. No one in the family can follow, but it gives her a lot of time to think. Also, there are sometimes HUGE fish out there, which she greatly enjoys seeing and interacting with. She’s. she’s fought a tiger shark before. And probably other, larger and more dangerous things. (Also when she gets home, Alphys always talks about how her kisses taste like salt. Undyne loves it).
❤️ Before she became Asgore’s body gaurd, Undyne was pretty much out of work. Not a whole lot of people wanted a massive, sharp toothed, she-shark selling retail in their stores. But, being a fish and all, she got managed to get a job as a life gaurd over the summer! This ended in her actually giving swim lessons to a couple of kids (starting with Frisk)!! She is actually a pretty good trainer and still teaches a few kids every once in awhile over summer breaks.
❤️ Her and Asgore went on a fishing trip once! The boat nearly capsized, Undyne ended up going in to fish instead of using the pole, there were life lessons taught about patience, and Asgore got horrendously away sick. Needless to say, it was a good trip. They still have pictures on Asgore’s fridge!
Alphys
❤️ As much as her girlfriend loves it, she’s not actually a huge fan of the water. It’s overwhelming and dries out her scales, and when she’s in super deep it makes her really uncomfortable. She’s stared into oblivion before and, well, it’s not a good feeling. The deep sea reminds her of that.
❤️ That being said, she LOVES the beach itself. She could sun bathe for hours while Undyne is swimming. Just pop on her head phones, lay on the sand, and embrace her lizard heratage! Also, she likes to watch her hot girlfriend do hot things like catch fish in her teeth and throw skeletons, so it’s a win win.
❤️ Naturally, this means a lot of her and Undyne’s date end up at the beach one way or anouther. Every time they go now, Alphy makes a point of collecting a seashell. They all hang on a string over her bed, it’s her favorite part of the room.
❤️ More times than not, if the sand is particularly nice and warm, Alphys falls asleep on it. Like, hard core passed out asleep. She just loves the fluffy parts of the sand so much??? And it’s so comfortable??? And she’s gotten more than afew overheating from sleeping ALL day, but she can’t help herself. It’s just too cozy!
❤️ Her favorite thing about the ocean is always going to be seeing Undyne’s smile though. She loves it. She loves the way her girlfriend’s kisses taste after she’s been in the sea. She loves how content the girl is after a good swim, and how cuddly they get in the living room. She loves smelling the air and holding her hand and seeing the sun on the water. She wants to spend forever in her arms, on the sand, eating nice cream and watching the sun set.
Mettaton
❤️ So. He’s a robot. Alphys is currently working on waterproofing his body, but until then he’s shore bound. That doesn’t mean he won’t done his best sun hat and glasses, steal a life gaurd’s chair, and pose dramatically on the beach though!
❤️ Truth be told, he actually quite enjoys long walks on the beach. His boots are well protected enough to go a way into the water as well, so he takes them sometimes with Alphys. Also, night time on the beach holds SPECTACULAR song writing material! There’s something so inspirational about the atmosphere.
❤️ That being said, summer concerts are the bomb. Litterally. There’s pyrotechnics. He’s not as big a star as he was in the underground, but some local beach performances are well within his pay grade. The thrill of the stage! The cries of the people! The personality and connection to his adoring fans! The one time he crowd surfed! The fashion! It’s all just perfect!
❤️ He also frequents beach side shops, thanks to the atmosphere and outfit selection. One can NEVER go wrong with a floppy hat and a sheer coverup. It’s just impossible.
❤️ He relates WAY too hard to the little mermaid, both in the original story and Disney. There’s just something that hits too close to home about longing for humanity and a new, more comfortable body... He gets Ariel man, he gets her.
Asgore
❤️ He likes to go on long morning walks on the beach alone. There’s something comforting about the sun rise and the sound of the waves rolling around him. There’s something even more sweet about the rare conversations, only lasting a hello and small talk, all few and far between. Sometimes he finds himself wishing he had a dog to walk with him, but in the end decides against it. He’s been alone a long time, he can last one more day.
❤️ He really enjoys going shelling. Sometimes, he even likes to paint his finds and put them up in his windows. Frisk helps him, he likes that.
❤️ He’s become a vollenteer to help find and aid sea turtles’ hatch sites. He loves watching them hatch and get to the sea safely. Though he’s not supposed to, he’ll protect them from the gulls.
❤️ Thanks to being in so close to the sea, he had a brief phase of being rather in love with verities of seaweed and kelps. He tried to keep afew using water tanks, but could never quite get them right. Ah well, at least the petunias and roses are doing nicely.
❤️ He has a hard time reading or watching things about mermaids. They make him sad.

can we have a few fsg headcanons?
Of course! Here are a few headcanons for Fellswap Gold.
The rule "oppress or be oppressed" is not an actual rule, and Toriel is not responsible for this. Before the incident with Frisk and MK everything was peaceful. Monster Kid was adopted before Asriel was born. MK and Asriel were very close. Asriel was more cheerful than he is now.
MK was the one to find Frisk, the first fallen human. The King and Queen hid them from the other Monsters. Frisk, Asriel and MK grew very close, and the whole family was very happy. But one day, someone found out about Frisk, and the Rebellion Group wanted to take Frisks SOUL. They eventually did manage to kill Frisk. Toriel lost her eyes as she was trying to protect Frisk. MK took accidentally Frisks SOUL. The rebellion group also managed to kill him.
Asriel was angry at his parents, and he blamed them for it. He went to live alone in snowdin. Asgore lost his mind and went to live in the Ruins leaving a blind Toriel on her own
After that Monsters started to kill each other. The Rebellion Group against anyone who wasn´t on their side. The reason why the civilians also despise the Royal Guards is because they believe that its their fault that the rebellion group even got inside the castle in the first place.
And here are some headcanons for the Characters as well:
Toriel: She has her vision back now thanks to Gaster. Despite what happens she is still very kind and is doesn´t like violent, but she is also way more stern and serious. She doesn´t joke as much either. It is rare for her to get outside, but once in a while she does walk around talks to the Monsters. And she visits Wine now and then. They joke together, talk about a lot of things, and he makes dresses for her.
Asgore: He is overwhelmed with guilt. He left Asriel, the only child he has left and his injured wife just because he was afraid. Asgore is not the cheerful goat that he used to be. He is very anxious, and can't see the difference between an illusion and reality. But thanks to Chara he slowly gets better. He finally learned how to brew normal tea again. He did not find the courage yet to talk to his wife and his kid.
Gaster: Fellswap Gaster is female or at least uses she/her pronounce. She is very tall. She is even taller than Willow (Horrortale Papyrus). Used to be a royal scientist before she "disappeared". Thanks to her the Monsters adapted to the Underground pretty fast. She is not mute she can in fact talk, but since her voice a lot as if she was some sort of ghost, like it is very creepy, which is why she doesn´t talk much. Gaster was always very busy she would sometimes work for hours and simply forgetting about her sons. Despite that she has a very good relationship with her sons, and the royal family.
Undyne: is obsessed with giving Monsters stronger bodies. She grew up in a very dangerous environment where every Monsters were killing each other, and she is traumatized. Besides that, she also was manipulated by the Rebellion group. They made her believe that killing humans is the only chance to make the killing stop. After getting some professional help she was ashamed at what she did, and now she works hard to redeem herself.
Alphys: she is still very shy, but appears chill. She is very strong, and she is afraid of hurting others. A hardworking royal guard. Her relationship with Undyne is very tensed, but she and Wine are very good friends. Actually, Wine is her only friend that she has. Others either fear her or ignore her. And she loves Anime, but they are mostly wholesome she doesn´t like anime that are too brutal or too dark.

“Love, hope, compassion...This is what people say monster SOULs are made of. But the absolute nature of “SOUL” is unknown. After all, humans have proven their SOULs don’t need these things to exist.”
Ever since I played UNDERTALE, this one line has probably stood out to me the most, simply because it covers an issue most of the fandom seems to overlook.  In response to the gameplay and its story, we tend to label monsters as good and humans as bad.  We follow the story that we’re told: There was a war, humans won and trapped monsters in the Underground, Asriel was killed by humans, and seven human SOULS are needed to escape.  We view the Player or Chara--depending on your view--as an ultimate evil for killing monsters through the various resets.  However, what I rarely see discussed--beyond Asgore’s order to kill children from a small portion of people--is the monsters’ state of morality.
We hear it all the time and see it in this very line: “Monsters are made of compassion.”  It seems to be treated as a statement of fact, but I see it as propaganda.  By saying monsters are made of love and compassion, but that humans “don’t need these things to exist,” that’s placing humans as a whole as an “other,” enforcing their position as “the enemy.” And somehow... this never gets called out.
We can see why a monster would say this because of the war, Barrier, and Chara’s and Asriel’s deaths.  However, how would that excuse their own calls for genocide?  I won’t go into depth about Asgore here since he does show regret/reluctance for his call to slaughter humanity and we as an audience can interpret that--while his actions may not be in the right--we understand it was done in a moment of grief and pure rage.  You know who doesn’t get an excuse like that?  Monsters like Bratty and Catty, who cheer with a smile about how they’re “so hyped for the destruction of humanity” up until they actually realize what a human is from meeting you. In fact, most of the monsters can’t seem to recognize you as a human, from them to those retelling Asriel’s story and claiming “you’ll be free” with the rest of them while, in truth, you--as Frisk--are potentially walking to your death.
Now, you might argue, “Well, they suffered as a kingdom because of the war and from losing their future rulers.  And if some of them don’t know what a human is, then it can be easy for them to label an unknown as an ultimate evil based on limited knowledge.”  Ok then... so why are some of them cruel to each other?  Would someone you’d describe as “compassionate” do the following:
Bully others, such as Loox, Loox’s own targets, and Gryftrot.
Allow Papyrus to feel isolated and self-conscious despite his obvious attempts to fit in and make friends, all while befriending Sans--someone who does everything possible to make his brother feel loved and accepted, and makes a point to encourage others to give him a chance--in mass.
Act “rude and loud” and “beat up everybody who gets in their way” (Undyne, according to the Red Bird NPC... who she also says the kids look up for just those reasons.  I don’t entirely believe her, because of our own interactions with Undyne showing that she’s pretty cool beyond her disdain for humanity, just a little on the pushy side; however, she also attacked Asgore as a child just to prove herself and even described herself as a “hotheaded kid,” so I won’t entirely dismiss this comment either.)
Undyne is also known to fight “bad guys,” according to Monster Kid, and since MK didn’t even know Frisk was a human at first and insisted they watch her go fight them anyway, that hints that, yes, there are bad monsters that need some force to stop: This is not a strictly peaceful society.
Try to take your soul just to go to the Surface himself (Mettaton) for the sake of being a star--delaying a second war, but also leaving everyone in the entire Underground to suffer even longer because the Barrier wouldn’t get destroyed. (Nevermind that he’d have every opportunity to speak out against the war if that was one of his main reasons because of his monopoly on the Underground’s entertainment and his massive influence.)
Don’t get me wrong: I love all of these characters.  They’re well-written and the fact we can recognize their flaws and still care for them is perfect.  It also is a great fit to the game’s message!  I just wish it went both ways.
Do me a favor and also think of things from Frisk’s perfective--as a character, not you as the Player enjoying the game.  You’re trapped in this place where not only is just about everyone trying to kill you, but they actually succeed!  Repeatedly!  You are forced to experience death in a multitude of ways “over, and over, and over!”  And you’re a child!  Most people would break under that kind of severe physical and mental torture--but sure, let’s give characters like Sans a pass when they threaten you, even if you’ve only even done one route as a Pacifist, all while criticizing Frisk/Chara for their actions.  The power to RESET may be insanely strong---it gives them a second chance at life--but it’s also a curse when they get to repeat that pain.
And for my last point... If most all humans were really so viscous, don’t you think it would’ve been more effective to slaughter monsterkind when they were all pinned in one place, making it as easy as shooting fish in a barrel?  Or, in the very least, demanding they hand over their strongest for execution so that the rest could live even if in confinement? Wars don’t “suddenly happen without warning” as the echo flowers painted the initial human attack as, especially not when two groups have lived together for any length of time as we’re led to believe from the story.  What sparks the war may seem sudden, but there’s often a build-up of tension behind it. For a irl comparison, take WWI: The assassination of Archduke Ferdinand is commonly seen as the spark, but it was also the alliances and rivalries between different nations that had been brewing for years which rallied everyone into such a huge conflict. Humans were already afraid of monsters for the ability to take souls and for equally murderous intent (as evidenced when they assumed Asriel had killed Chara).  It’s not like that power was a rumor made to spread fear: Monsters confess to it themselves in their history.  Therefore, we can conclude that, in all likelihood, some monsters did this well before the war even began--helping establish a conflict between their two kinds well before the war.
Sure, I have no doubt that there are awful humans in the world of UNDERTALE.  I would never argue against that!  Monsters, however... aren’t all exactly the “compassionate” beings some of them would like to paint themselves as.

i accidentally wrote this essay about post pacifist undertale
ok i did this and it’s incoherent. i literally keep thinking about this i can’t make sense of this please mr.fox give us the forbidden undertale lore in the comics i beg of you
anyway i’ve seen arguments for and against the idea that UT takes place 100 years after 201x. Some say its more likely to be a few years but that sounds hard to swallow, especially since it being a long time for toriel being stuck in the ruins is essential to her character. it’s asgore and toriel’s immortality and tragedy of being stuck in a perpetual state of grief and inaction that define them. to have it just be a few years, while, to us mortals that’s a long time, but it doesn't hit the same does it? also, why would gerson who was alive back in the war with knights say it’s been a long time since toriel and asgore have been together. when he’s the only one to remember the story of “fluffybuns.”
the only time we get a character (one, mind you, has a meta-sense of humor) talk about how long toriel’s been in the ruins with a real number is with sans saying a hundred years. and that gives us enough time for humans to fall into the underground but still have most monsters be born and grow up without seeing any.
and you can argue around that, and you can look at different game clues that point to the other interpretation like how chara might(?) know the snowdrake family, or how the dog couple competed against asgore and toriel. and toby is very good at story consistency and world building. it’s a strange detail that the dogs would compete with them, especially when they’re still alive. but i’d argue that they’re clearly really old now. their fur is 100% white and they can’t see. which is like, very common for old dogs. tho that doesn’t say a lot since white dogs are also a thing akdsfjasldf
and honestly idk how intentional this weird timeline thing even is! because like, at the pacifist ending it’s already established frisk is not chara and if it was the future we could at least get some hint to that? but then again if toby just dropped in a sci-fi world or post-apocalypse setting in the credits that’d be super jarring. but then again its not like! we see much??? we see a cityscape in the distance, an empty highway and a beach, all devoid of humans
like... it doesn’t disprove or prove either.
i guess and the end of the day your decision if the 100 year thing is true or not matters purely on personal preference. i find it hard to add real life politics (not as in, actual figure heads. tho that also just feels super wrong) to undertale’s universe like i don’t know the societal factors of either group. what are their populations, where are they, how much money do they have, what’s their education system and how does human society contrast that and interact with that. i hate to think of monsters coming out to our horrible, capitalistic nightmare of a world built on imperialism and a .001% hierarchy ruling class.
that said, it’s still a big factor in why chara and frisk likely chose to go to the mountain. Humanity is terrible, there’s a lot of floweys out there. that’s the whole point.
regardless though, if their world is modern or not, if it keeps the modern structure of awful systems (and frankly, with climate change this isn’t sustainable for 100 more years) its hard to imagine what UT’s surface world is like with just frisk’s fashion and a few quick glimpses. also, equally hard to think of these goofy monsters interacting with our real world in anyway.
also, as a side note, just who is the ruler post pacifist? because i see asgore is still king but he SHOULDN’T frankly, he’s not a good king as much as i love him as a character he’s not fit to rule. toriel is clearly living her dream of being a teacher but who else would rule fairly? a big part of the neutral endings being “bad” endings are that no one is fit to rule the underground.
on-top of that, how do they handle the whole “yeah our king killed 6 kids but like, ya’ll imprisoned us to die in a mountain 1000 years ago and you killed our prince x years ago so we cool? we good? yeah?”do they... not mention it? do they keep it a secret? cause then that’s conspiracy. humanity will want to know how come monsters were trapped and how they got out. they will demand answers.
this haunts me
and i get half the fun of fandom is coming up with your answers and maybe that’s why it’s left to be interpreted, or maybe it was the end of the game and there wasn’t enough room to explore all these things or there could be future material that covers it like how the first UT anniversary had that askblog set in real time 1 year later.
and at this point we could play death of the author, there is no canon answer, there is no 100% complete canon evidence-based result. none of this matters. we gotta pick and choose our own answers

I really like your Chara design can you talk about your interpretation of them?
First off tysm !!!!!!! I’m so glad u like them ;0
Second off yes of course ! Here’s a few things about them :
-they r mongolian-american
-they lived in northern Oregon/southern Washington for most of their life on the surface, both in civilization and out on the woods (I’ve always had this idea of Chara being a forager, super self sufficient, it’s one of the first things I developed abt my interpretation of them)
-lived in a group home as a child (along with that they love kids !)
-Chara has inattentive ADHD as well as bipolar disorder
-SpIn’s include: fungi, knives, sewing and geometry (which they suck at but it’s challenging and stimulating and fun work)
-they were 9 when they ‘fell’ underground and 12 when The Plan was enacted
And now for more game related stuff:
-i whole-heartedly support NarraChara
-I know everyone likes to think that Chara has a special connection with Frisk but I like to think that they could interact the same way with every fallen (that includes influencing their choices)
-going with influencing the choices of the fallen they initially did their best to cause the children to fail in hopes of saving their family after death
-they talk Like That at the end of NM to appear more intimidating (by Like That I mean like a walking dictionary)
-the no mercy route was NOT their doing (I like to think of the player as an entity, while Chara is more of just an outside force if that makes any sense? Chara can certainly control Frisk as a vessel, but only of A) frisk has given them that option, B) they’re anxious/angry/emotional enough that their power amps up and allows them to overtake frisks living soul, or C) the player is controlling Frisk through Chara) (I can post more of my ghost stuff if y'all want it just shoot me an ask) back on track for this one the no mercy route was not their doing, but they do give you, the player, not frisk, an ultimatum at the end of the no mercy route because they’re fucking pissed at you
-Goopy Chara? Cool! It’s congealed blood
-Chara only finds out that Flowey is Asriel in true lab which is why its so weird (i cannot for the life of me find the post but its super popular, probably a birdsareblooming or undertale-in-2k19 post)
Personality wise:
-theyre super skittish and jumpy. Startle at everything and wear headphones Everywhere
-theyre semi-verbal and have selective mutism (won’t speak in public at all, rarely in front of Toriel and Asgore, and frequently to Asriel and Frisk)
-with that, they’re super light on their feet and hardly make any noise when moving
-also; very quick and hard to catch
-they tend to fall apart under pressure . In a situation where something is expected of them they’ll either overwork themselves into a burnout or stop functioning all together .
-very logical and has a hard time processing strong emotions (mostly anger)
-does a lot of mimicking and can take a while to trust
-hyper empathetic
-they can be very charming and good at manipulation; take that how you will
Extra HC’s:
-Chara knows magic! It’s not much, and it really drains them, but Asgore taught them (it’s mostly enacted through hand signs and they know healing and self defense)
-they stim a ton! Cracking their knuckles and chewing are the big ones
-Worn Dagger is a survival knife gifted by an older human brother from before falling who I’m referring to currently as Anthony . It’s got a wood and resin handle and a seven inch blade with gold embossing of flowers (specifically daisies). The sheath is hand made and embroidered by them !
-they know sign language and are constantly making new slang terms . Their signing is so modified and personalized that a lot of people have a hard time understanding what theyre saying
-arthritis in their hands and wrists from a couple injuries that never healed right and constant use of their knife only made it worse (they have these splints designed to look like gloves that hold their wrist in place)
-listen to me . Listen to me. They get their hands on Tetris and never let go . Tetris is the coolest game to them . Have y'all seen Tetris tournaments ? If not watch one they’re addictive . Chara gets in . Chara rocks it . They don’t win but they get up there . They fucking rock at Tetris guys
-also after frisk shows them minecraft they fucking lose it okay . ‘Frisk’ starts making houses or rooms fully furnished for seemingly no-one and Tori only . raises an eyebrow
-they listen to lots of rock and early 2000′s alternative/techno once they can get their hands on it. Frisk hates it so they’ll debate about it a lot
-super sensitive to smell and textures
(ps: its worth mentioning that a lot of my chara is based around myself! chara is one of my comfort characters and so a lot of them is just kinda … me, or who i wish i was on some level owo)
and might as well throw in some thoughts on canon compliant chara:
-we dont really know much about canon chara, but theyve shown to be somewhat manipulative and have a really strong case of suicidal idealization . this sort of ties into the idea of them being a martyr, the future of humans and monsters; thats like a huge fucking load for a kid to carry that i definitely feel could have some effect on mental health. like, telling a kid that they’re the future of two separate races, while theyre also learning about 1) how horrifically humans acted towards monsters and 2)  how the barrier can be broken, especially while already having a tendency towards self harmful actions (i.e: jumping off a fucking mountain), and given how presumably awfully humans treated them in comparison to all the kindness theyve been shown by monsters, I think I’d get some ideas too.
- I’ve already said that i don’t think they’re evil, and I’ll stand by that opinion until the day of my death
-that said, their plan was flawed. I mean, obvi. the things they did, such as attempt suicide on 2 occasions,  and succeed on one with the help of Asriel (as well as taking him down with them !) were wrong for quite a few reasons. I think ultimately they were blinded by the pressure placed on them, whether it was intentional or not, and not having a place to diffuse that anxiety, they sort of absorbed it and honed it into a plan to save everyone important (monsters, who showed some bare minimum decency and kindness) and kill everyone who wasn’t (that being themself.) And, once the first part of that plan succeeded, they sort of exploded; being on the surface, with humans, the people who hurt them, the people they hated, was a good enough motive to release all that built up tension .
-also, i might as well go into no mercy- I think Chara winds up with a lot of power, a lot of anxiety, and anger built up, so when every monster in the underground is killed theyre sort of gaining power bit by bit- until the end, after you kill flowey, and we get to meet them for real . I think they’re pissed off, and they try to convince you that you’re in the right, they thank you, etc; they try to appeal to the player, who throughout the run weve only seen as a mindless killing machine, in an attempt to get you to erase the world and go back on your decisions . When you don’t, they get frustrated, explode, using all the power they’ve gained through the run to erase the file themself.
I just . I dunno . i could talk about chara for hours please ask me more questions about them

Chapter 3: They deserve to be heard too... well. Some of them.
Spoiler: Sans is finally here.
You are welcome.
*Your POV*
After agreeing with Mr. Dreemur and W.D. Gaster, my work partners just watched them go, then they stared at me. Those looks, the hate in their eyes, and their whispers made me uncomfortable. When I'll be able to do something without being criticized.
But at that moment, I didn't care. I nervously laughed, then went to my office to take care of some business, that including the cleaning. It's not as bad as my apartment, but it's not the cleanest place in the world either. And that's how it went; cleaning and typing. Lots of fun, of course.
I arrived at my apartment and... I don't remember clearly what I did. Probably the basic. Or well, maybe not the basic, since I bet I didn't sleep that much.
'Cause after that nap I was eating fucking cereal at 5 am, not to say I was already showered.
"Stupid brain" I muttered, feeling tired yet excited. Today marks the day I sold my soul for the monsters and to show humanity that these creatures aren't freaks. Well, I'm not sure. I haven't met enough, after all.
After eating, I put some makeup in my i-want-to-die-but-not-yet face. Just a bit, since society asks for it. I really hoped it wasn't like this but, hey, I can't change everything! Besides, a lot of girls like makeup, so I feel obligated to at least look "presentable" in that aspect.
And then, my day started. At 5:15 am. Just great.
Since I'm just a young person who's still dealing with college, my money it's not enough to actually buy a car. But hey, I have a bike. And public transport. And that's what I picked.
The underground subway was somehow a quiet place, mostly because everyone's still craving for their beds. I strongly relate to these people, if I'm honest. Everyone's minding their own business, too tired to talk or to make a strong scene.
I silently put my headphones for a bit, listening to those classics of rock. Yeah. This is pretty much my life. Hell, even my ringtone is a rock song, that being "Sweet Child O' Mine" from Guns N' Roses. I was thinking to change it into something more... professional. Then I remembered that nobody should give a damn, so I shrugged it off.
A whole playlist was enough to make the trip more bearable, trying to not lose my adulthood on those legendary guitar solos or in Bon Jovi's wonderful voice. Those little yet powerful details on each song reminded me why I still had faith in this world. And the sign indicating my destination brought me back to reality. I sighed.
I walked a short distance and finally arrived at that living hell called the Congress. Being part of this greedy government it's completely out of my standards, but now, I wasn't regretting it at all.
I took a seat in the non-workers area, looking like I was a mad teenager coming to reclaim her rights. Except, that I was looking pretty calm and patient. I checked quickly my phone and see it was 6:10 am. Oh well. At least I can play Mario Run for a bit; it has been ages since I did.
While a simple yet pretty loading picture showed up on my screen, my mind only had one thought: "What if they decide not to show up?"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*Frisk's POV* (lol)
I was giving my hair the final touches when I heard Goat Mom shouting my name. I rushed down the stairs and met with everyone- well, almost everyone...
"SANS! WE ARE GOING TO BE LATE IF YOU DON'T COME!" Papyrus screamed in a horrified voice, looking at the clock for the thousandth time.
"gimme a sec bro, k?" Sans answered lazily, not even making an effort to raise his voice.
"THAT'S WHAT YOU SAID TEN MINUTES AGO!" Papyrus cried, again, looking at the clock.
And then Sans teleported, wearing the same freaking clothes.
"Are you serious?!" Undyne exclaimed, visibly angry for such a waste of time, then we all rolled our eyes when he just winked and shrugged it off.
"Now that we all are ready, let's go!" I exclaimed enthusiastically, carrying Flowey's pot while I tried to forget that episode with Sans "We are still in good time! We have exactly... HOLY COW! FIVE MINUTES?!"
"welp, shit" Sans muttered like it wasn't his fault, getting some glances from his brother.
"Let's run, then!" Undyne cried out, carrying Alphys and starting to run.
I ran after her, Papyrus with Sans in his shoulders following me. Hell, even Mettaton was running like crazy. We can't miss this opportunity; this is our only chance!
We ran between students and boring workers, most of them with a hint of hate in their eyes. However, there wasn't any time to feel intimidated. God. If humans weren't so inconsiderate, we could have just teleported thanks to Gaster's powers. But nope. They are not allowed to use any freaking magic.
Well, I shouldn't be thinking like this. I need to be positive for everyone's sake. But still, I feel confused. Is this what hormones do? But wait, they only act like this when you are- oh. I'm twelve years old. I somehow forgot.
We ran and ran until we arrived. "Congress", the sign read. The building had an old look, but it seems it was purposefully done that way. The place itself looked pretty boring, so I just secretly prayed to don't fall asleep.
The door was slammed open, and people's stares gave us an uncomfortable welcoming. Sans climbed down of Papyrus's shoulders, realizing how bad it looked.
"*About time you take things seriously" I signed to him, with a teasing smile on his face. He looked like he was about to give me the middle finger until a young lady approached us, with a kind smile on her face.
"Hello," she said sweetly, making me relax for a bit. "My name's (Y/N) (L/N), and I'll be the one helping you through this".
Oh, so she's (Y/N)? I never thought she would be THAT young. She's really pretty, I must say. Bright (e/c) eyes that match perfectly with her skin tone. (h/c) hair not too long neither too short. She was tall, yes, but not a giant. She looked really fine. I wish I look like that at my twenties.
"Hello, Miss (L/N)" My mom intervened my thoughts, bringing me back to reality. "I'm really pleased about your kind behavior. I just hope we won't bother you that much..."
"Nonsense!" she exclaimed with a cheery tone, trying to put any awkwardness aside "I am more than open to receiving all of you in my office. Just follow me, we'll discuss everything more privately upstairs".
She guided us to a place where two elevators remained. Since we were too many people, we had to divide into two groups. Lucky thing there were elevators in the Underground, so this wasn't anything new to anyone.
When she made sure everyone was on the fourth floor (asking us how many we were), she started to guide us through the hallway. Everyone was mumbling while looking at their surroundings, staring at some paintings of famous politicians. Well, I don't think they are that famous. I've only heard of them thanks to my history books and those cringy contests on TV. Like, knowing who was the president at 1895 doesn't make you the smartest kid in class. You are just a freak who talks too much with an old man, mostly being your grandfather.
Suddenly she stopped, then opened a door with the number '486' on it.
"You can come in now" She sighed sheepishly. Wonder why. "Let me know if there aren't enough seats".
The room was quite huge, actually. She had at least ten chairs in front of a dark chocolate desk, that had an intimidating and elegant seat behind it. That must be hers, that's for sure. She had a plaque with her name on top of her desk, a small glass with pens, and a Lenovo laptop. Strangely, she had no photos of her family.
It turns out we had enough seats for everyone, but we all couldn't be in front, so we ended up doing two rows. It looked like a really small cinema. One problem, though, was that Asgore couldn't fit comfortably on his seat.
"Is there a problem, Mr. Dreemurr?" (Y/N) asked worried, watching the embarrassing scene of Asgore shifting into multiple positions. Oh God, why me? Before he or anyone could answer though, she went for her fancy chair and started to move it.
"Oh, Miss (L/N), you don't need to-" He was cut off by the impotent seat in front of him, with a slightly panting girl a few inches away.
"You can seat here, Mr. Dreemurr" She smiled widely, probably 'cause of the King's shocked face. And yes, I just remembered I should think of him as the King. Then, (Y/N) took the other chair. "I'll sit on here, don't worry".
After making that move and putting the big chair in the center, she finally took a seat. She looked insecure for a brief moment but smiled anyway. That kind of reminds me of someone...
"Now that we are all settled up, I guess we can start" She stated. And with that, our talk began...
...
It was less boring than I thought. Yes, she asked us a lot of how life was in the Underground, but none of us seemed to mind. What we mind, though, was Sans's stupid puns which, surprisingly, made her giggle quietly. He seemed to notice this, so he kept them going. It's not like I don't like puns, but this was just too much. (Y/N) didn't seem to bother at any moment, though.
But, hey, everyone felt comfortable. She made some comments now and then, most of them full of irony and sarcasm. It was fun and for a moment we forgot about our problems. It just felt like meeting an old friend again, but that's impossible. I mean, I hadn't met her before, so... yeah.
But, as soon as the conversation started, it ended as well. Everyone shook hands with her, including me.
"*Are we going to see you tomorrow?*" I asked in signs, not thinking at all.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*Your POV*
"*Are we going to see you tomorrow?*" Frisk signed with a smile that immediately made me feel shivers down my spine. That's not something I see often, that's for sure. Frisk looked at me worried, though. Guess I did some expression that wasn't supposed to be there.
"...sure thing, Frisk," I said, way quieter than I wanted it to be. Quick, change your tone (Y/N)! "We have a lot of work to do, after all!"
She let out a sigh of relief, along with other few. It was a nice feeling. Knowing that they wanted to see me again made me ridiculously happy. And I didn't put it away.
We were already out of the elevator, on the main floor. The sun was setting, painting beautiful colors in the sky, like always. The thing is, monsters couldn't say that before. Heck, some even didn't get the chance to look at this. Whole generations, I bet.
"Miss (L/N), is it okay if we have your number?" Mr. Dreemurr asked, and smiled wider once he probably saw my shocked face. It just caught me so off of guard I didn't have the words. A short skeleton just smirked at my reaction, then I could finally talk.
"S-sure thing!" I exclaimed, which made the skeleton laugh. Just great, I'm being shamed by a skeleton shorter than I am. Way to go, (Y/N).
I reached for my presentation card, and with hesitation, I wrote down my personal number on the back. Wow, it's been ages since I've done that.
"Here it's my business number, and in the back, you can find... m-my personal number" I reluctantly said, knowing it sounded really weird. Why I wrote it down, again?
I looked away slightly, only to notice that skeleton smiling again. Oh no. I swear to God if he says anything weird, I'm going to-
"kinky" he chuckled, containing laughter. I want to kill myself so bad right now.
"SANS, WHAT'S KINKY?!" A taller skeleton asked, and I mentally cringed. And I quickly took note of that name, since it's familiar as fu- oh wait.
"Sans? Like, Comic Sans?" I asked bluntly, forgetting the whole other topic.
"oh, so now catching my name?" he joked with a wink, making me feel worse. "nah, just kidding. but, yeah, that's my name. it's 'catchy', isn't it?"
I sighed, while he just chuckled- again. This Sans guy is making me look bad. And Asgore just watched this whole scene. Great.
"Great! We can add you to our group chat, sweetie!" Mettaton (who I learned their name in the middle of the 'celebrity topic' conversation) winked. What's with the winks today? I feel like they are kink-shaming me (which it's probably what this guy and that skeleton are doing).
"And we'll just call you with the business number if it's something more serious" Mrs. Dreemurr added, obviously unaware of Mettaton's intentions. I gulped. I just hope he doesn't spam me with lewd stuff or something like that. Already happened at high school, and honestly, I feel like an immature teenager again.
Then they all gave their quick goodbyes. Some shooked my hands. Some hugged me. Some smiled. And others even cried.
"Thank you so much for giving us hope." A female (judging by her voice) skeleton said, sobbing quietly on my shoulder. I froze in shock, but I eventually returned the hug.
"It's no problem, believe me" I muttered softly, while a soft smile made its way to my face. "After all, you deserve to be heard too".

Happy holidays @gloomdraws!!  I’m your secret santa this year for @undertalesecretsanta!!  I hope you like this little story.  I was going for some nice feels.
Sorry I’m posting this so late in the day, I hope you didn’t get anxious!  Happy holidays and happy new year!!!
Frisk kicked up the thin layer of dusty snow that had fallen the night before, pouting slightly.  It wasn’t the thick snowfall they had hoped for, that stuck well and made for the best snowballs and snow forts.  Still, they thought, watching their breath come out as white puffs in front of their face, it was pretty nice.
“And just what are you doing out and about kid?”  A voice called to them.  “Aren’t you supposed to be helping ‘ole King Asgore with some decorating?”
Frisk smiled, trotting up to the door of Gerson’s little shop and new home above ground.  The old monster was sitting outside on his small porch, bundled up against the cold so that only his face remained exposed.  He grinned down at Frisk as they approached.  “Whatcha got there?”
In Frisk’s hands was a square package, prepared by Toriel before they’d left the house.  They held it up to him, knowing he’d recognize the smell as one of Toriel’s own pies.  As expected, the monster’s eyes widened happily, and he took the box, peeking into it.  Somehow his grin grew wider as he inhaled the warm scent of the treat, and he ruffled Frisk’s hair with a mittened hand, displacing their earmuffs.  Frisk quickly adjusted them.
“Thanks kid for bringing this by!” he laughed.  “Smelling it now, I don’t know if it will last long at all!  I may have to ask her to make me another huh?”
He winked as he said it, then shivered.  “It’s nice to have seasons these past few years, but I might think about traveling somewhere warmer before next winter.”
He scowled a little, then stood up, heading towards the door.  “Then again, I’m too old to keep moving around!”
Laughing again, Gerson opened his front door, and Frisk could feel a warmth from inside that felt produced by magic.  “I’m going to put this away before it freezes in this air,” he said.  ‘I will see you tonight?”
Frisk nodded excitedly and the old monster laughed.  “Right then!  I’m sure you have plenty to do until then kid.  Don’t be late!”
As he retreated inside, Frisk waved, and set off again.
It had been several years since the barrier had fallen, freeing monsterkind from the underground caverns and tunnels they had been trapped in.  The monsters had worked very hard to make a home for themselves.  This would be their first Giftmas where every monster finally had a solid place to call home in the village.  Thanks to a lot of help from neighboring towns, where the humans who lived there had offered plenty of help with building and supplies.  The towns were becoming an example to the rest of the world, and the past year for Frisk had been an especially happy one as ambassador for the monsters who had become their family.
Close friendships had been made with many of the humans.  When the monsters decided to hold a party in the center of their village for Giftmas Eve it was quickly agreed that their new friends would also be welcome.
Alphys pushed blue curtains back to peek outside her front window.  The glass was frosted around the edges, and she curled her fingers into the fabrics to keep them away from the cold panes.
She sighed a little, looking up at the cloud filled sky, and snow began to fall.  Letting go of the curtain she turned around, pulling her sweater tighter around her.  Undyne was sitting at their new dining table-
”An early Giftmas present!”  She had laughed when Alphys asked about it’s sudden appearance.  They both had ignored the splintered scraps of their old table in the trash outside.
Undyne finished lacing up her boots, looking up at Alphys to give her a disparaging look.  “Can’t we just build a fire and stay in tonight?”
Alphys handed her an extra scarf, pulling her own coat down from it’s peg.  “We promised to help set up in the square,” she reminded Undyne.
The former captain sighed.  “It’s only getting colder.”
They finished bundling up and Alphys stopped Undyne before opening the door.  “W-wait!,” she said, smiling.  “I almost forgot…”
She scrambled a little box out of the closet behind their front door, pulling a couple of plastic pouches from it.
“I found these at the human store last time I went, they should help!”  Undyne watched curiously as she opened the plastic pouch, revealing two smaller cloth pouches inside.  Alphys handed them to her.
“T-they should activate automatically,” she explained.  “But the clerk told me it would help t-to shake them up.  Try it out!”
While Alphys opened the second pack, Undyne, confused, started shaking the pouches.  After several moments she felt heat coming from the little cloth bag.
“Woah!”  She exclaimed, a grin forming across her face.
Seeing her pleased expression, Alphy’s own smile widened.  “Put them in your pockets,” she instructed.  “They’ll las the rest of the night.”
“You are the best babe!” Undyne laughed, stuffing the pouches away.  She gave them a quick squeeze in her pockets, relishing the warmth, then reached out to pull the scientist into a tight hug.  “Thanks Alphys.”
The lizard monster blushed deep red through her yellow scales as Undyne pressed a kiss to her forehead.  Feeling a little as if she no longer needed them, Alphys hurriedly stowed away her hand-warmers into her own pockets and together the pair left their home.
As more and more monsters arrived in the center of town, the busier Grillby’s diner became.  The building glowed from inside from strings of soft golden lights.  The front entrance stayed open for people to come and go, but stayed magically warm inside.  Sans the skeleton sat at the counter, watching with amusement as Frisk tried to hang a string of glittering tinsel on the highest branches of the tree Papyrus and Undyne had brought inside.  Standing on their tip-toes, Frisk could still only reach about halfway up the tree, and when they lost their balance, catching a face-full of pine needles before swaying away from the branches, Sans chuckled.
“Need a lift?” he asked.  Frisk heard a soft Ping! and was slowly lifted into the air with their garland.  Delighted, Frisk laughed, and quickly went to work.
Papyrus, who had been looking through a box of ornaments, turned with a star-shaped tree-topped in hand.  His eye sockets widened, seeing Frisk floating around the top of the tree, giggling.  He glared at Sans.
“OF COURSE YOU WOULD FIND THE LAZIEST WAY TO HELP SANS!”
Sans only shrugged, focusing on keeping the human child up in the air.  As they finished, Papyrus handed them the star.  Frisk placed it, carefully adjusting it so it would stay, then gave Sans a thumbs up.  With another soft Ping! the magic around their soul fell away, and they fell too, right into Papyrus’s waiting arms.  They clapped excitedly.
Papyrus held them, looking around the diner.  “WELL FRISK, IS THERE ANYTHING LEFT TO DECORATE?”
In fact there were very few things inside Grillby's establishment that had not been covered with some kind of decoration.  Ribbons, garlands, wreaths and ornaments hung all around the room, from the walls, tables, chairs, and even the jukebox in the corner.  The machine was belting some holiday tune that Asgore (who was fairly decorated himself between his colorful sweater and small sparkling ornaments hanging from his horns), hummed along to as he helped Grillby to set out trays of food for everyone.
Frisk indicated to Papyrus that this should be enough, and he set them down on the floor again just as Toriel arrived. They ran to her right away, and was enveloped in a warm, tight hug.
“Hello my child!” she said smiling.  “Are we ready for our guests?”
Frisk nodded, bobbing up and down on their toes.
“OH, HAVE THE HUMANS ARRIVED?” Papyrus asked, and Toriel confirmed.
Everyone very suddenly straightened, looking both excited and just a little bit nervous.  Following Toriel, and already in their coat, Frisk walked outside.  The center of the village was a round clearing with a fountain in the middle.  Several shops lined the center, and many were open and decorated like the diner to offer their wares and warmth to monsters and humans alike.  People had already started wandering around, greeting monsters they knew and exploring.  Many greeted Frisk as they stepped into the warmth of Grillby’s, the exclaimed excitedly about the decorations.
Monster Kid appeared on of a group of human children, laughing and playing.  “Frisk come on we’re going sledding!”
The evening grew darker, and the party quieter as people made their ways home.  Alphys and Undyne were tucked into the same side of a booth, drinking hot tea and laughing.  Grillby wiped the counter while talking with Sans.  Papyrus was enraptured with a family of five who was describing their own holiday and it's traditions (“SANS THEY CELEBRATE FOR EIGHT WHOLE NIGHTS!”).
Frisk wished their friends well and watched as they left.  The snow was still softly falling, and had added a couple inches to the ground throughout the night.  They stifled a yawn, unwilling to think about turning in just yet.  Instead they sat in the open doorway, listening contentedly to the chatter and music coming from behind them as they looked out into the clearing.
Snow blanketed the fountain and the statue in its center.  It was illuminated from the lights on all the shops and shops surrounding it and from the base of the fountain itself.  Frisk found themselves staring at the happy faces of the human and goat monster children portrayed by the statue.
A soft hand lightly patted their shoulder.  Frisk looked up, smiling at Toriel, who crouched down next to them.
“It has been a very long day Frisk,” she said.  “Everything is cleaned up for now.  Would you like to wish everyone goodnight?”
Frisk nodded, and lingered in the diner a while longer, giving extended goodbyes and “see you tomorrow”s and long hugs to their family.
As they walked home, holding hands with Toriel, Frisk thought of nothing else but their activity filled day.

THEN... can I ask about Dee's backstory and how it tied in with Virus? How this group was gonna stop the all-powerful Virus? =0
YUS!
Okay, this one’s actually gonna be cut short at the end, cuz like... Them stopping Virus was gonna be possible in many ways! But I wanted the blog to be ask driven, and see how people wanted him to be stopped? ;w; So I got a couple of ideas and “endings”, and none of em are really definite because well... no askblog aaah;; oKAY SO! TWs: Death, manipulation, physical abuse, drug and alcohol abuse, nsfw themes. (No sexual violence tho)
Unlike Gaster, who was alive before the Human v. Monsters war, Dee was born much later, and just in time to show off his plans of the core to help everyone as a young, college student. He was around 20 at the time, and had the support of his professors to convince Asgore that the Core would benefit everyone in the underground. To Dee’s delight, he succeded! But it would take a very long time for it to be finished. Because of this, Dee was assigned as the Royal Scientist, and was given all of the king’s support in completing this behemoth.
During the time this was being built, Dee married his college sweetheart. She was a beautiful monster, and she reminded Dee of home... Which was not entirely... a good thing.
Dee came from a broken home. His mother was neglectful to her children, and his father was a drunken man who everyone knew was unloyal and unloving... But Dee still had a love for his siblings, and could look past these horrible events to the more plesant memories spent with his siblings in his youth.
Something about his new wife reminded him of being home. Something about her was familiar... But Dee didn’t know if he was really all that happy. Maybe it was the stress that came with her becoming pregnant, the fear of being good to their first child... Or maybe it was the way everything felt when he was at home with her. It was a stillness, familiar, yet unwelcoming... But it was all Dee had ever known.
When their son was born, there were many complications. Sans was born with his soul small, weak, and barely glowing. He didn’t have much of a chance to make it past the night he was born, and his mother was distraught. She loved the child, but she couldn’t bare to see him suffer just as he was born. She suggested the doctors didn’t fight to save him... But Dee refused. He refused to let Sans die, and he dedicated all his time from there after to making sure he would always have the money for his treatments, surgery, and that he would always be there to make sure Sans was happy, healthy, and hopeful about his future.
This, however, broke the marriage between Sans’ mother and Dee. She left, wishing them both the best, but not being able to see Sans in this condition.
However, Sans DID improve. He grew stronger, healthier, and eventually was allowed to leave the hospital. Dee bought a new home in Snowdin, and the cold weather didn’t affect skeletons, and it was closer to the lab this way.
When living in Snowdin, Dee met another girl. She was beautiful, confident, classy, and yet she was full of energy every time Dee saw her. Eventually, she found out who he actually was, and asked him on a date. The royal scientist! the  one and only! And why would Dee decline? She was a skeleton, like him, who’s eyes reminded him of the tranquil, cool, blue night sky of Snowdin.
Together, her and Dee began to raise Sans. Sans, in his young mind, began to think of her as his real mom. She was always so sweet at first... At least she was to him. But her and Dee seemed to always be fighting about one thing or another. Always bantering, always saying things they would regret later...And so, one day, she found out she was pregnant. Not just with anyone, but with Dee’s spawn. She wasn’t sure what it was... but just the idea of it was repulsive. She wasn’t afraid to show it either. She began to use the unborn monster as an excuse for everything, and sometimes took it as far as what could be consider threats and blackmail. Dee tried to hide it all from Sans. He didn’t want him to know he was in such a broken home... But after his little brother, Papyrus, was born, things only got worse.
Not being pregnant anymore, some time after her recovery, her hurtful banter turned to battery. She would degrade Dee, push him around, scream at him when he made mistakes, and use her magic against him when they weren’t close to the kids. One day, however, she went too far. They were arguing very loud, and it had caught the attention of the two young skeletons. (Sans would have been around 12 when this happened, while Papyrus would have been around 6). They heard the commotion, and sneaked to their parents’ room... And when they walked in, they saw Dee sitting on the floor, curled up, and covering his bloodied face. Their mother was standing over him, screaming vicious, hurtful words the children had ever heard of in their young lives, and she continued to hit him when he didn’t reply. Seeing their father this way, seeing what she was doing horrified the kids. They ran over to their dad, and Sans tried to protect him before she threw a punch that was aimed for Dee right into Sans’ head. Shocked, terrified, but now infuriated that she would lay a hand on his sons, Dee finally stood up to her, defended his children from her, and managed to run her out of snowdin. Being friends with King Asgore, Grillby, and the royal guard, he managed to get what was basically a restriction order against her. Not an official document, for they did not really have such a thing there, but the closest they could get to it. Everyone was glad to protect Dee and the skeleton brothers from here on.From here on out, Dee focused himself on his family and his work. He didn’t want to look for anyone else, and for a while, he was doing amazingly well with the progress of the Core. However, when his best friends at the lab began to invite him over to Grillby’s to relax after work, Dee found himself in a nasty process of going to a bar, getting drunk, and leaving with someone who caught his eye and offered to ease his mind. Dee knew it was wrong, and that he would be ashamed if his sons ever found out, but... He was lonely. He was lonely, and he missed the love and affection from partners... So if he could feel loved for just one night, he wouldn’t say no. He took many of the chances he got, as long as he felt he could safely sneak away without people noticing.
This nasty habit continued until the Core was completed. A laboratory had also been built inside it. It was massive, meant to hold dozens of lab technicians, and hundreds of workers. It was perfect. Everything was working perfectly, and Dee couldn’t be happier! The Core was a massive success, and the whole underground was amazed and infinitely grateful to him for such big accomplishment.
Once everything settled down, Dee began his research with two things: Magic Amplification, and studying the barrier. Unlike many other Gasters, however, Dee didn’t resort to others for his experiments... He performed most of them on himself.  He would take painkillers and inject whatever he believed would make him stronger, and see how the results would go. Because of this, Dee’s body had become damaged and weak... But his magic? No. Those experiments were an amazing success.
Dee’s magic was amplified in ways Dee could have never imagined! He was able to use the will, the anger, the joy, and any other powerful emotions of himself and anyone around him as boosts to his own magic’s power. Not only that, but he was able to form illusions. They weren’t physical yet, and could easily be blown away like smoke, but it was beyond what Dee had ever seen! No one else had magic like this! And as time passed by, he discovered something new: an ability to see into the future.
Dee’s future vision was strange, however. He wasn’t able to really control it, but he would get visions of things to come. They happened out of the blue, and they weren’t always accurate. Sometimes, he would even get more than one vision of what was going to happen in the future... But he didn’t know how to control this or what it meant...
But without Dee knowing, someone had been keeping tabs on his new magic. Someone who did not belong. Someone who could not yet enter... But someone who could watch him. Someone who knew his every movement, but could not reach him... yet.
Seeing as his magic amplification serum had been perfected, and now a total success, Dee began to take volunteers for this. He and his right hand men, his “followers”, had created a machine that could amplify monster’s magic using enhancements to their souls, along with the serum. It was meant to make monsters more powerful than any human! It would make them so strong, their magic would turn as powerful, as extravagant, and as grandiose as his own!
But when Sans, his own son, insisted and begged his father to allow him to use the machine as a volunteer, things took a turn for the worst. When he finally convinced Dee, and they amplified Sans’s magic, one use of magic, one use of this new found ability brought everything to a halt. It was a portal.
In an instant, the portal was placed in front of the new machine, and something, someone who had been watching, observing them and waiting, arose from the portal. A monster very much resembling a skeleton appeared. It’s tendrils wrapped around everything around it, and caused many to run in a panic. As the monster laughed, Sans was not able to react and close the portal... and he was helpless to watch as the creature grabbed his father with it’s monstrous claws, and drag him down with him...As his father screamed in utter terror, the monster began to close the portal. Sans created another, trying to reach and help his father, but all he got in return was something that would change the life of all who knew Dee forever. The monster’s magic attached itself to the Core, using the signal amplifiers atop to send his magic through the entirety for the underground. A mess of code. A barrier of the mind, an erasure of their memory...
And so, their royal scientist, friend and father, W.D “Dee” Gaster, was erased from the memories of all who knew him.

Bravery - Chapter 2
Chapter 1 | Chapter 3
Seven Souls (and Sans) Chrono
Sans digs his hole a little deeper.
Read on AO3 here
~ ~ ~
This was wrong.
What had he gotten himself into!? Sans did his best to keep up the appearance that everything was fine, but for pete’s sake there was a human being walking next to him! He had just made friends with the enemy. Invited them to come further into the Underground. He should have left her there; gotten Greatest Dog or something. But she’d been so alone...Sans couldn’t pretend he didn’t know how that felt. And now that she knew how...how dust worked...there was no way she could be a threat.
But Asgore would want her.
No, not her. Her soul. Sans grinned at his new friend outwardly, but inside he was screaming.
Nothing about this was a good idea. Why couldn’t someone else have found her?
“hey, so...we’re getting close to town.”
“Town? There’s a town down here?”
“yeah, there’re actually quite a few. but this one’s called snowdin.”
“Oh...I’d always thought you guys just lived in burrows or...made nests or something…”
Sans couldn’t help but laugh. “we’re not dumb animals, kiddo. whaddya take me for, a squirrel? not that i’m afraid of heights or anything but i can’t really see myself living in a tree.”
“Sorry,” Jack laughed, blushing a little. “I...guess I don’t know much about monsters. I didn’t offend you, did I?” Jack was blushing now.
“nah, you’re fine. we’ve uh...been trapped down here for a long time. i wouldn’t expect you humans to have all the facts anymore.” Sans couldn’t help but frown a little. Odds were high that this kid’s perception of history was probably a bit different than his own.
He looked up at the trees around them. They were beginning to thin out; get a little smaller. They really were getting close. Sans was going to have to figure out what to do with this kid. They couldn’t just waltz into town...could they? Jack’s voice cut through his thoughts.
“Yeah, I guess so...we have a brief unit in our history courses in school, I guess, but mostly it just covers the war and...the barrier thing or whatever?”
“so you guys call it the barrier still, too, hunh?” Sans shot her a half-hearted smile. “eh, that makes sense i guess. kinda hard to write a history about a group that hasn’t been seen in, like, forever.”
Silence wedged itself between the two as they walked, broken only by the occasional chatter of the kid’s teeth. Finally, Jack spoke up.
“Sans?”
“mm?” he grunted. He could already tell where this was going by the tone of her voice.
“You...weren’t around when the Barrier was made...were you?”
Sans came to a halt. He knew where he had to take this conversation, but he didn’t want to.
“nope,” he finally answered. “‘m too young for that. that happened a long time ago. i don’t think there are many monsters left that were around at the time. i’ve heard of a few who were there. there’s an old tortoise that likes to tell stories to kids when he can remember them. but...i think that generation’s pretty much gone.”
“So you’ve...never seen the sun before?”
She just had to ask that question, didn’t she?
Sans chuckled sadly. “i’m afraid i haven’t, kiddo.”
Jack got quiet. Looked down at the ground.
“but hey...maybe...maybe someday i’ll get to, eh? king’s got a plan-”
“King?”
Here we go.
“uh...yeah. the king. king asgore. he, uh...he thinks he might know how to break the barrier. from our side, that is. but…”
“But maybe it’d be easier if it was broken from our side!” Jack exclaimed. I could go back up there and tell everyone that you guys are still down here! That we need to make amends! We could break the Barrier and let you all out!”
“well, yeah, that would probably be easier, but i dunno if anything can get back out once it’s gotten in.”
Should he tell her about the king’s angry decree? Most definitely yes. So why couldn’t Sans bring himself to say it? This girl was in more and more danger every minute she spent down here! But if the rumors were true, nothing could get out through that Barrier unless its soul was powerful enough. What the heck was he going to do now?
“hey i think i see the town up ahead,” he said, changing the subject. Perhaps he could give this a little more thought later. For now he needed to get her somewhere safe. “but, uh...we need to lay down some ground rules before we go in.”
Jack shivered a little again, but said nothing, looking at him expectantly.
“for one thing, let me do the talking, kay? i know the people in this town pretty well, and i also know some of them can be pretty nosy. but i’ll make sure we get what we need without too much hassle.”
“Why would they be nosy? Don’t you guys ever get visitors?”
“well, yeah, but not from the surface.” Sans said, trying not to grit his teeth. This was a horrible idea.
“so for another thing...basically i’m kinda thinking it would be wise of us to not bring attention to the fact that you’re a human for now.”
“Why? Wouldn’t people be excited?”
“well,” Sans tugged at the collar of his jacket for a moment. “no offense, but my history classes kinda taught me to fear humans. i don’t think you realise how powerful you are compared to us. even a kid as young as you can wipe out-”
Jack was looking a little uncomfortable.
“-uh, yeah...guess you kinda figured that one out on your own, hunh?” Whoops. “a-anyway, i just don’t think it would be a good idea to announce the arrival of a human to a bunch of people who grew up learning to be scared of them. so, um...actually! here!”
Sans stepped out of the slippers he forgot to change before heading out and took off his socks. He gave them a sniff and held them out to the human with a somewhat apologetic look.
“What?”
“put ‘em on.”
“Like, on my feet?”
Sans stepped back into his slippers. “nah, i was thinking more like over your ears or something.”
“EW! No way am I doing that! Those came off your feet!” Jack gave them a sniff and cringed. “When did you last wash these anyway!?”
Sans sighed. “look, kid, sorry, i was supposed to do laundry today. but-” should he tell her about Papyrus? Or would it be safer for everyone if no one knew about each other. Papyrus had a tendency to get a little...attached…to anyone he met. And besides, he was training to be in the Royal Guard; that could spell trouble. It would probably be safer for now if he didn’t.
“-i’m a bit of a lazybones. but i figure this is as a good a disguise as i can give you right now. there’s lots of bunnies in snowdin. you hang those socks from your bandana thing and you’ll...sorta look like a bunny.
Jack looked at the socks in her hand, eyebrows knitting together in a scowl. “Okay, fine. But I don't see how anyone is going to be fooled by a couple of socks.”
“you’d be surprised,” Sans replied, hoping he was right. Most everybody in Snowdin at least had never seen a human before. So maybe they could slip by without too many questions. Sans steeled himself and took the lead as they approached the first couple of buildings.
Unfortunately, it was evening. The snow-covered streets of the town were teeming with monsters, many on their way home from work.
Which reminded him. Dinner.
Sans palmed his skull. “awe man, i can’t believe i almost forgot! we gotta grab some things before we head home. remember: let me do all the talking, kay?”
The girl beside him nodded. It was only then that Sans realised how blue her lips had gotten.
“whoa, you okay? you look chilled to the bone!” Sans shrugged his jacket off while he inwardly chided himself for forgetting one of the most basic rules of etiquette. She’d been shivering the whole way into town! How could he have not registered that until now!?
“T-t-thanks, Sans. I-i-it’s a little cold here!”
“heh, well in case you haven't figured it out yet, i’m not the most observant person. next time just say something. i don’t want you freezing to death on my account!” Sans winked. “kay, get ready. we’re gonna duck in here for a minute,” he said, turning to open the door to Snowdin’s most popular shop.
“How the heck is this jacket so warm? You’ve got no skin or blood!”
“magic,” he quipped without looking back. “now shut up.” Now it was his turn to feel cold. Time to go inside.
“Haha, that’s a good one- you’re joking right? What’s the real answer?”
“for once, i’m not. now shh!” Sans pushed her inside and shut the cold out behind them.
“Hey y’all,” came the call from the back of the store. “Sans? My goodness, is that you?”
Across the room, leaning against the front of the checkout counter was a large rabbit with a droopy hat and even droopier eyes, dressed in nothing but a tank top and capris despite the perpetually cold weather outside. But then rabbits were pretty good at keeping warm. She pushed herself up and walked over to meet them, twirling a candy cane between her fingers.
“hey, petal. ‘s’good to see you. i need to get some stuff for dinner tonight.”
Jack was looking all around the store in awe. But thankfully she was staying quiet.
“And who’s your lovely friend, here?” The large rabbit asked.
“oh, more like a friend of a friend or something like that. she’s stayin’ with me for a bit while she passes through. she’s on her way to…to...the capital...to visit family.” Sans hoped and prayed he could pass this off.
“Well ain’t that just wonderful! What’s your name, sweetheart?”
Jack looked up at the bunny, a little caught off guard. She shot a quick glance at Sans for approval before clearing her throat. “Jack. My name is Jack, ma’am.”
Petal bent down to give her a hug and the candy cane. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, miss Jack. No, no, keep it, darlin’. It’s yours!” Then she turned to look at Sans. “So what do you need for tonight, honey?”
“y’know that veggie soup i used to make all the time? yeah that one. i need stuff for that tonight. o-oh and maybe a couple o’ cinnamon bunnies for after, too.”
“Sure thing!” she winked at him before disappearing into the back part of the store. Sans could feel the tension in his scapulae ease.
“That is one big bunny!” Jack piped up, inspecting a collection of surface-world keychains. “Hey, Texas! That’s where I’m from!” She picked up the keychain and twirled it a few times. “Where I come from, bunnies are small. Like, super small. And they don’t talk.”
“well, i imagine skeletons don’t either. ‘s a different world down here,” Sans replied, trying to peer into the doorway Petal and gone through. Before Jack could respond, the large bunny returned, a couple of sacks in her beefy arms.
“Here you are, honey. That everything for you tonight?”
“sure is, ma’am. thanks a ton!”
“That’ll be 50G, then.”
Sans handed the bags off to his companion and dug in his pants pocket for his wallet. He counted out the fee and ushered the kid out the door.
He turned to wave before following her out. “thanks again, petal. you’re the best.”
“Anytime, Sans,” Petal replied, returning to her spot in front of the counter. “And Sans?”
“yeah?”
“That poor girl doesn’t need your socks anywhere near her face.”
Sans laughed nervously. “she, uh...she insisted her ears were cold…”
Time to make his exit. He could hear Petal laughing as he closed the door behind him. Man, that cold air suddenly felt really refreshing!
“What’s wrong with you?” Jack asked, scrutinizing him.
“you can take the socks off if you want.”
She looked confused for a moment. Then she laughed.
“Thanks, Sans. I was starting to get a little light-headed there!”
“hey, c’mon, they’re not that bad, are they?” He grinned, taking the socks back.
“Let’s just say having these socks in my face is worse than getting socked in the face!” she winked.
Sans laughed. “good one, kid.”
~ ~ ~
They reached the house just as the last rays of light from above faded away.
“Wow, it sure gets dark down here…” Jack said in a small voice. “...and I thought it was dark before...”
Sans said nothing. He was too busy wondering how the heck he was going to explain coming home several hours late. And with a complete stranger. The whole way home, no one had screamed, “a human! A human!” which was a plus. But if word got out that Jack was a human, they’d both be in some serious trouble.
“okay, uh…so just so you know, my little brother lives with me. he’s pretty...um, he can be kinda weird at first. but i promise he’s cool.”
“You have a brother!? That’s awesome!” Jack’s eyes lit up. “I have one, too! Actually a couple! But they’re all older than me.” Her face fell a little. “...I’ll bet they’re beginning to wonder where I am…”
Sans shifted uncomfortably. He really needed to tell her the truth about Asgore. But he just couldn’t bring himself to do it. “i’m sure they are,” was all he could finally force out.
Suddenly, the front door flew open, flooding the front step with warm light.
“SANS! THERE YOU ARE! I WAS BEGINNING TO WONDER IF I SHOULD GO OUT AND LOOK FOR YO- WHO’S THIS?”
Welp. Too late to come up with any plans.
“hey paps, sorry, i...got a little sidetracked...this is jack. she’s just passing through. needs a place to stay for the night. ‘s’that okay?”
“YOU MADE A FRIEND!? SANS, YOU MADE A FRIEND! I’M SO PROUD OF YOU! GET IN HERE, BOTH OF YOU!” Papyrus whisked them inside.
“PLEASE, JACK, MAKE YOURSELF RIGHT AT HOME- OR, AT LEAST, THE PARTS OF HOME THAT DON’T BELONG TO ME OR SANS. OH GOODNESS, I WISH YOU WOULD HAVE CALLED, BROTHER; I COULD HAVE CLEANED UP A LITTLE! I HAD NO IDEA WE WERE HAVING A GUEST!”
“the place looks fine, papyrus. heh. any cleaner and you probably wouldn’t let me in!”
“THAT’S JUST THE SORT OF THING YOU WOULD SAY...IT’S A PIGSTY IN HERE! AND I COULD HAVE SHOWN OFF MY AMAZING CULINARY SKILLS-”
“-that! won’t be necessary,” Sans butted in before Papyrus had the chance to get any dangerous ideas. “i got the stuff. so we can have our soup. remember?” He cast a sidelong glance at the kid. She look slightly bewildered, but amused. That was usually about average for meeting Papyrus the first time.
“OH. RIGHT. WELL, JACK, YOU WILL SIMPLY HAVE TO SEE IF YOU CAN STAY ANOTHER NIGHT. THEN YOU CAN TRY MY FAMOUS SPAGHETTI!”
“That sounds wonderful!” Jack replied, looking to Sans for guidance as Papyrus took her hand in both of his and vigorously shook it. Sans smiled and shrugged. If she stayed long enough, she’d learn sooner than later.
“welp, i’m gonna make this soup, kay? if you wanted, paps, you could take this opportunity to clean up the house some.”
“AN EXCELLENT IDEA, BROTHER! THE GREAT PAPYRUS SHALL DO JUST THAT!”
Papyrus ran off to the broom closet. Sans jerked his head in the direction of the kitchen. “c’mon. we’ve got some soup to make.”
They headed into the kitchen, the sounds of Papyrus singing at the top of his metaphorical lungs blasting from around corner. The vacuum did little to drown him out.
“so whaddya think of my bro?” he asked as he began taking ingredients out of the sacks. “oh, hey; do you wanna grab me a pot from under the sink? thanks.”
“He’s...interesting, to say the least…” Jack replied, coming over with a dented stock pot. “-Wow, your sink is tall! -I like him, though. He seems very confident.”
“yeah, if there was ever a word to describe paps, it would probably be ‘confident.’” Sans chuckled. “i’m pretty proud of how he turned out. i know of no one who’s braver and kinder than he is. heh. he hasn’t got a bad bone in his body! hand me those carrots, will ya?”
Jack laughed and obliged.
“Has he always been like this?” she asked. Sans gave her a knife and an onion.
“for the most part, yeah. hey, can you stir while i add this stuff?” he replied, peeling a potato. “he used to be pretty self-conscious. honestly i think he still is; he’s just gotten really good at hiding it. he always wants to make everyone happy, y’know?”
“That reminds me of Louis - he’s the one closest to my age,” Jack’s eyes fell a little, a wistful smile pulling halfheartedly at the corners of her mouth. “He’s never had too many close friends, but that’s all he’s ever wanted. He just wants to be liked by everyone. He’s the nicest person I know…”
The stirring stopped. She stared at the floor.
Sans put down his potato. “hey, c’mon, it’s alright. i’m...i’m sure you’ll see him again. heh. and in the meantime, you can share papyrus with me, if you want!” he winked. Jack laughed a little at that.
“Yeah...that sounds good,” she smiled at him and resumed her stirring. “You know what would go really good in this soup? A little bit of green chili.”
“i’ll bet you’re right, kiddo. too bad i don’t have any...or...know what that is!”
They both laughed. this kid wasn’t bad at all. Nothing like the history books made her out to be. Sans could feel the chains growing heavier as they laughed. He was going to have to tell her the truth eventually. But for now?
Eh, no reason to ruin a good moment, right?

Undertale AU (needs a name)
Humans on the surface are at war. (World War III or something) It's a war that has gone on for over a decade. It's lasted so long, and so many people have died, that even the orphanages have been turned into boot camps for young soldiers (hint hint, Frisk is in one of these orphan-boot camps). The children in these camps were trained, watched day and night, and NEVER alowed to leave the camp alone. You've heard of college towns, right? This was now a militaristic version of that. Everything in town was now associated with war, combat, or training. Running the whole town was a single platoon under the command of a general/drill instructor. He acted out perfectly the role of a tyrannical monarch. While there (over several years) he adopted a child named Chara, from another town's orphanage (he was in charge of several towns at the base of Mt. Ebott), that was similar in thoughts and attitude to himself. The strict rules and regulations kept Frisk (and Chara) from wandering the mountains as children... the first time they actually climbed up was when a group of scientists came to scout out the area to make a bomb shelter and storage facility. This is when Chara and Frisk discover the hole in the cave and fall in together. Frisk lands on the patch of flowers but Chara ends up landing on the edge of the flower patch and is seriously hurt. They encounter Toriel, who takes them both to her home and heals Chara. Frisk is, for the first time, discovering what having a mother feels like. But the group on the surface makes its way down and is searching for the two when something happens above ground. [Haven't decided if it's going to be a nuclear or regular bomb and if it's going to cave in the hole or if it's going to just have too much radiation above ground... but whatever ends up happening, they can't go back (for reasons other than the barrier).] Not able to go back to the surface, the group of soldiers (including the general that ran the town above), soldiers-in-training, and scientists are stuck underground and end up taking over the ruins and either dusting or chasing out the monsters that lived there. (Much to Frisk's horror.) but when their food rations were running low, the ruins weren't enough for them. They started expanding their "territory" to the forest on the other side of the door, there weren't any monsters in the strip between the ruins and the crevasse, which is where the humans expanded to. They didn't expand any farther than that, seeing that the bridge was a strategic bottleneck that they could control and defend from any monsters that may try to attack. They would forage the forest and breed/hunt the rabbits there. They had enough food and water, but the General was still planning to attack. Frisk was quietly rebelling. Throwing the traps they set out for monsters into the crevasse and chasing away any monster she found near. *cough* Monster Kid *cough* Chara finds out and basically banishes Frisk from the "human side" of the crevasse (yes violently and yes while shooting at them). Frisk begs Chara (from across the crevasse) to convince the General (Chara's father) to wait a week (he was planning on attacking remember?) for her to bring someone they can enter negotiations with. Meanwhile, Toriel and Asgore are on opposite sides, Toriel wants to negotiate while Asgore wants war. Frisk, a trained soldier/survivor, has to find a way to bridge the gap and -hopefully- get everyone to coexist and maybe even figure out what to do about the problems on the surface. Note: The problems I was talking about for the surface... I originally had it as radiation and results of a nuclear bomb... but that would be leading into the Apocalypse AU someone else made already... so I kind of want to shy away from that... (but I liked that idea so much... that they would have to continue the human-monster truce in order to not only escape the underground but survive the surface as well...)

Tarzan!Chara AU concept?
I just had a craaazy cool idea people. Tarzan. And Undertale. COMBINED. (maybe with a dash of Romeo and Juliet too)
Ok ok so listen this out. Imagine if not long before Asriel was born, TWO people from the surface fell. They were lovers and the two families had not approved and wanted to kill them and take their own kid back, so the two ran away to Mount Ebot. And we all know what happens to people who leave to Mt Ebot ahaha.
What no one realised though was that she was pregnant...
Let’s say that the fall didn’t hurt them too bad. The girl sprained her leg though so the guy had to fend for her. In the ruins, they’re mostly isolated so they try and fend for themselves for a bit. They meet a few monsters but they’re not dangerous so they act kindly to them.
And then a monster from the capital finds them one day while patrolling the area. And they take capture them and take them to the king and queen. Ahhhhh i can just imagine the scene where they’re taken to Asgore and Toriel and the guy would just be thrashing around trying to resist saying “do whatever you want to me, but don’t hurt her.” And then him revealing that she’s pregnant. Of course, at this point the monsters had no real reason to be hostile to the humans and Toriel and Asgore see themselves in the young couple. So they offer them refuge in the castle.
Some of the monsters start to whisper though and see this as their chance to become free. The king or queen always intervene when someone gets hostile. Eventually, the royal scientist silences these monsters by pointing out the situation in a different light... with two humans, they have the makings of a soul farm (creepy, yes. But all it really implies is letting nature run its course rather than killing the goose who lays the golden eggs). Yeah, the royal scientist is a bit of a jerk in this AU.
Toriel and the girl have a good friendship as they go through pregnancy and the two children, Asriel and Chara, are born on the same day. All of monster kind rejoices, an heir to the throne and hope for their freedom in one blow!
But there’s a twist.
So one of the humans from the surface tried hunting down the couple after they ran away and tracked them to Mt Ebot. They were an old suitor of the girl’s but she rejected him because he was too violent. With this whole fiasco instead of believing this reason he blames the guy from stealing her from him.
They fall into the Underground and are taken to the castle immediately (guards for the ruins after the first incident are better). Little do they know he has weapons concealed... He finds out that the two are there and that they had a child. Enraged that they would dirty the family name with such filth, that night they slip out from their room...
Toriel and the girl are still recovering from childbirth. The couple are both asleep with Asriel and Chara in cots next to them when the man rages in and murders them and their child. But it was dark. And so he mistook Asriel for Chara. Toriel discovers the bloody scene in horror and tries to chase after the man but he flees to the ruins and locks himself away.
The two lovers are the first two human souls that Asgore must regretfully collect. In their jars they pulse in rhythm with eachother, still loving eachother after death. (I’m thinking maybe they could be Bravery and Patience) Toriel his heartbroken, she has just lost her child. Asgore is distraught, humanity is still as violent as they remember from the war. The two had been exceptions rather than what they hoped was the new norm of an age of potential peace. Still enraged at the loss of his child, he declares that monster kind is again at war with humanity.
But that still leaves one problem. The human child. Toriel would NEVER let Asgore kill them. Not after Asriel died so similarly. Despite his arguing, she takes in the child. They raise Chara as their own, a child to replace the one they lost.
Chara is never told about their true past. They are led to believe that they are a monster. (cue the Tarzan part of this haha) They realise they are different from the other monsters. The prince of monsters can’t use magic. But they make up for it with their own skillsets. Even without magic as strong as monsters, determination, strategy and creativity can still make a powerful foe.
Umm let’s take a second to overlap characters here:
So Kala is obviously Toriel, they’re so similar it fits perfectly. (do i need to explain more???)
Asgore is Kerchak. He still tries to distance himself from Chara without ever explaining why (it’s obviously because he hates humanity). Which just makes Chara want to prove themselves to him. They want to prove that they can be a normal monster too and make him proud.
Terk and Tantor can be Sans and Alphys :D This is set wayyyy before the Frisk events so they’re still kids just like Chara.
Being the royal scientist’s kid, Sans isn’t really supposed to associate with Chara. Gaster is annoyed that they’re letting a human roam around like the Underground like they own the place (like i said, real jerk). But the king and queen have insisted that their human nature not be made known so there’s nothing he can do about it. He’s constantly telling Sans to stay away from them though saying they’re ‘bad news’
...Sans being Sans, the fact Gaster doesn’t want them to be friends makes them automatic besties. He’s your classic playful troublemaker with a good heart, standing up Chara even though they’re different. He’s most of the reason the group always ends up in so much trouble. But he’s got a sharp mouth, he can usually talk his way out of must situations and punishments when they’re in corners.
He has a younger brother aswell that he cares a lot for. When Papyrus is around he can keep his trouble-making in check for his sake. He’d never let Papyrus do the crazy stuff he does with Chara and Alphys.
Alphys fits the same sort of bill as Tantor, she’s overly cautious (unlike the other two) and doesn’t like to make trouble. She’s the voice of reason in the group. But somehow they still manage to end up in adventures together anyway haha. She’s nerdy and knowledgable which has saved their lives a few times. And of course she’s still as much an anime fan as ever.
The three are childhood friends so they always stick together.
Ok that’s characters sorted (for now at least, there will be more later).
Let’s throw in the monumental scene from Tarzan where they kill the tiger! So, one time the three of them go lurking around the ruins. The place was sealed after that murderer had fled there. Most monsters just assume he died and the dangerous thing in the ruins became a myth. Every now and then though you can hear him lurking through those corridors, all the kids tell ghost stories about it. Asgore has tried once or twice to kill him over the years, with disastrous results. Fortunately he was always able to make it out of there alive but that’s why the ruins are now sealed.
So three are loitering around the door. Sans tries a few knock knock jokes. Alphys is nervous, trying to remind them about all the ghost stories surrounding the place - Froggits tunnelling under and never coming back, that sort of stuff. Chara just looks at the door and has an idea. “Hey Sans, your dad’s been teaching you to teleport, right? You any good?” Sans grins at them realising where this is going. “he tele-taught me a thing or two. not that i’m allowed to use it or anything...” The two snicker at this. Like that’s ever stopped him from doing anything. Alphys just sighs. “H-how about this time, we just stay away from the dangerous ruins? A-and go home? I-I found a new Mew Mew Kissy Cutie collection in the dump a week ago! Three more feature length episodes...”
Sans and Chara smile at eachother and grab her hand while she’s nerding out about the implications these episodes might have on her character arc. They all teleport behind the door.
Alphys shrieks. Sans laughs. Chara is just silent as they look curiously at the place. “Come on! Let’s explore a little.” Alphys is shaking. Sans frowns a little. “this is all good and fun, but i want to be home for pap’s bedtime story. s’not worth the risk of gettin lost.” Tch. They were both just scaredy-whimsums. “Well, i’m going on ahead.” They start running. Sans eye glows in alarm, “wait, chara-” But they are already gone.
Sans and Alphys will catch up. It’ll just take a bit. It’s hard to navigate those puzzles. But Chara’s always been the most resourceful of the three (they have to be when they don’t have magic like they do) so they make it past them quicker than Sans and Alphys.
So Chara’s having fun. Until they face the human. Being in isolation has disfigured them into a savage so they look nothing like Chara (they don’t even make the connection). A human! Chara thinks, looking at the filthy two legged creature with dust all over their tattered clothes. The man recognises Chara as a human too. It angers them to recognise their eyes that look so much like hers. So the child had survived. He attacks. Chara, horrified, dodges his attacks. They’ve been in fights before but never like this. Never fighting for their life.
Grabbing a stick on the ground, they evade his attacks and respond by attacking him back. After all, he’s a human. And monsters are at war with humanity. An idea forms in their head. If i can kill him and take his soul, then surely Asgore will be proud of me! The fight continues.
Sans and Alphys finally find Chara and watch as they weave past the man’s sword and strike him with their stick. “chara!” “Ch-Chara!!” With a final strike, Chara deals a blow to the man’s head and he topples to the ground. Sans turns his soul blue and Alphys comes running with her hand sparking with electricity but the fight is already over. Chara just stands there in shock, panting heavily.
The three check the body. He’s still breathing. Alphys backs away on impulse. Sans’ eyes go dim. “...chara.” They look down at the thing. He seems much less intimidating now that he’s not standing. “That’s monster dust on his clothes Sans.” They spit. “And besides, he’s human. Humans are the enemy.” There’s nothing anyone can argue with there. It’s not like Sans or Alphys know that Chara’s human too.
A grave silence fills the room. “D-do we... take their... their soul?” Alphys asks awkwardly. This is where Sans intervenes. He knows a little bit about soul science from his dad. “don’t want to risk absorbing it. ‘sides, even though their souls persist the smallest thing could shatter it.” They agree to haul the body out of the ruins instead. Sans can’t teleport long distances yet so they have to drag it most of the way.
Other monsters watch in shock as the three drag the body to the River Person to take it to the castle. Alphys is so anxious it’s a wonder she can even move. Sans just spends most of the time looking at the ground, hands in his pockets and being strangely quiet (really he should be helping to drag it, but somehow he lazily managed to get out of it. Every now and then he adds a little magic to lift it up over obstacles) Chara doesn’t know how to feel. The adrenaline still makes them feel tingly and they’re excited to make Asgore happy, but... yeah.
Asgore looks at the body in horror when it’s presented to his throne room. Chara had done this? When he had failed countless times, this human child had accomplished it with a stick? The weight of his responsibility hangs on him as he finishes the job and collects the soul. This happens once the kids are dismissed obviously. They’re too young to watch this sort of thing.
The third soul is harvested (I’m thinking justice).
With this act, some of the older monsters start to trust Chara a little more. Even with their... nature, such an act proves undeniably what side they are on. Chara hopes that Asgore will also be more friendly. Hadn’t they done well? Isn’t he proud of them? But all this does is remind Asgore of how much humans have a potential for violence. He still remains aloof. Frustrated, they go to Toriel about it. She obviously doesn’t have an answer but tells them to give it time. Toriel is simply horrified that they put themselves in danger. They’re in big trouble this time.
Despite the front he shows to monsters, Gaster is pleased with the events. Instead of punishing Sans like he expected, Gaster praises him for assisting in killing the human. It doesn’t feel right to Sans. He still remembers the empty look on their face. It gives him nightmares. He choses to spend less time around them, using the excuse that he was grounded when really he just needs some space. Papyrus is basically in awe listening to people the story. Sans is a hero! When he’s older he wants to be just like him. Gaster re-doubles his efforts to train Sans. His promise in teleportation is a good sign in his dad’s eyes.
So things eventually get back to normal and the three friends grow up a little.
Chara is a little more welcome to monsters now. They finally feel accepted. But Asgore is still cold to them. They’re starting to grow into the expectations that come with being royalty, leading projects and patrols, associating with the royal guard and resolving domestic disputes. They enjoy it but also feel the grunt of responsibility. What’s nice about it though is Asgore sometimes teaches them the role of a ruler personally. It’s the closest they get to bonding with him sometimes.
Sans is getting stronger. He hates the training his dad puts him through but he’s got to admit it gives results. Despite all the efforts to get him to take things seriously, he’s as much a goof as ever though :D. Papyrus aspires to be part of the royal guard these days. Sans still loves Pap as much as ever and is by his side as much as possible supporting that dream. He starts being the father figure that Gaster is often too busy to fill these days. Gaster’s doing a lot of top secret research these days. From the bits and pieces he picks up, it has something to do with the Core? Whatever. I’m sure it’s not important ( ;D )
Alphys shows promise with her robotics. She’s started an apprenticeship as a Royal Scientist’s Assistant (Sans and Chara pulled a few strings because of their backgrounds to help). With Gaster busy with his special projects, she basically runs most of the activity within the normal lab now.
The three are still great friends. They go on crazy stunts every now and then, but not nearly as much or as grand since the incident.
Chara is patrolling the ruins (they’re open now that the man was killed but people still tend to be scared of it. They talk about the ghosts of monsters haunting it and stuff. So Chara volunteers to do it instead)
They walk to the bad of flowers and come face to face with her. (I’m imagining this is the soul for kindness) They’re shocked and confused at first. Chara doesn’t connect this petite girl in front of them with the savage murderer they saw all those years ago. But what they do notice is how much she looks like them.
Chara thought they were the only monster of their kind! They shake away the thought with a start realising that she’s injured. They heal the unconscious girl and inspect her more. She looks around their age. They look down at her face when she wakes up.
She blinks in shock. “Oh thank goodness another person!” Getting up, she hugs them. Chara’s a little surprised by the reaction but goes with it. “What are you doing around the Ruins?” They ask with a hint of concern. “Civilian monsters are discourages from being around here.” She looks at them a little confused. “Monster? Haha, gosh, i must be a mess.” She pats her hair and cleans herself up a little. “No, I’m a human, just like you. My name’s Jane.”
Two things confuse Chara. First, this friendly monster is calling themself a human. Second, they had called them a human. “I’m sorry?” They finally get out. “Did you say human?” She gives them a strange look. “Well, yes. My soul’s just as coloured as yours is.” Bringing them into a fight environment to reveal their souls, Chara looks at the green heart and then back at their own red one. They thought that they were the only monster with a soul like that. “You’re... you’re like me?” They say in wonder. She spares them and waits for Chara to do the same. “That’s what I’ve been saying. I’m human, the same as you.”
They’re...
They don’t know what to think.
“Stop saying that! I’m not human. And... and neither are you!” She shakes her head at the argument.  “I don’t know exactly how you do things down here, but you’re definitely human. So am I.”
Maybe this creature is human. It’s cruel enough, tricking them with these deceptive games. They draw their sword to attack. (The same sword they got from the last human. They repurposed it with the help of a little fire magic to work just as well as any other magic attack) She shrieks at the wound it leaves on her arm and backs away a little in fear. It’s the human’s turn now.
“P-please... why are you doing this?” She spares them again and hopes that they’ll do the same. Chara flinches. Why is the human sparing them? They had been conditioned to expect humans as violent savages driven by dust-lust. But this? “You’re a tricky human aren’t you?” They tease as they go in to swing again. The blood left on their blade proves their nature. The same red juice as the other one.
She trembles a little and then attacks them. The movement catches Chara by surprise and they see red start to grow on their knee. “...what did you do to me?! What’s happening?!” Stopping for a moment, they panic at the blood pouring from their knee. There had been a little on them with the last human scuffle, their weapons caused physical damage rather than direct assault to the soul. Chara had merely shrugged the stuff staining their clothes as left over from the man. But this can’t be staining. It’s literally leaking from them.
She flinches at the colour. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to hurt you... I just panicked and... oh I’m so sorry!” Chara stares at them. “What. Did. You. Do?” The question confuses her. “I scraped your knee. You’re bleeding.” Chara’s eyes widen with horror. “What? Have you never been cut before?” She laughs nervously.
“...No.”
What? Could this person seriously not realise they’re human? It’s at that moment that Chara begins questioning everything they know. The knee is proof. Could they... could they be human? They spare Jane, but capture her. “I... I need to take you to the capital. My father will want to face you... human.”
So basically they talk as they journey out of the ruins. The more Chara learns the more they realise they’re actually human. They’re confused. And angry. Their whole life... everything was a lie? They reflect on theirselves. No wonder Asgore never trusted them. Where they as violent as the stories of humans they’d heard? Remembering the man, they realise with guilt they are.
Basically they dwell in those little depressing thoughts for a while but Jane notices they’re upset and tries to cheer things up by being perky instead. She talks about her life, her family and how things work on the surface. Chara finds the whole thing interesting actually. Slowly they let down their guard and the two start becoming friends.
They stop when they reach the door. Jane looks so similar to them, monsters would talk if they saw the two together. There’s only one choice. Pulling out their cell, they call Sans. “Hey. I... need a really big favour.” There’s a deep chuckle on the other end. They sigh. “Fine. I’ll pay your tab for the next three months, happy?” Another pause. “Entrance of the ruins, and... we’ll be taking someone else back too.” The air sucks into a vortex of nothing then bursts out within the same moment making a popping sound. Sans looks at Chara with a lazy grin. Then he sees the girl next to them.
His eyes darken. “chara...?” They had an agreement to not get Sans involved in this whole human-hunting mess. He still wasn’t comfortable with being directly involved with it and Chara could respect that. Even if Gaster loathed him for it to the point of disownment.
“I know Sans. I... it’s just... we need to talk.” Sans raises an eyebrow. He looks closer at the human. The arms. The legs. The face. The skin. A light of surprise flickers across his face for a moment. They’re the spitting image of- Chara gives him a pained look. I already know. It seems to sigh.
“Make a step to escape and I’ll cut off your legs before you you can blink” Chara says as the two walk to the other side of the room. Sans raises a hand in a question. Talk in hands? Chara nods.
who is she?
She fell from the surface. It’s a human, Sans.
Sans glances back at the girl. She’s calmly playing with a few leaves on the floor.
are you sure? i mean, no offence, but she looks just like-
That’s the problem. I think I might be one too.
Sans lets out a snort. Chara? A human? He supposed once or twice he had asked a question or two when he was a kid. Hard not to when your dad’s the expert on all things soul and magic related. But once he got to know them, there’s no question they’re monster. Right?
I’m being serious Sans! They... they made me bleed.
Now Sans was getting concerned. Everyone knew monster wounds turned to dust.
have you been spending too much time with the temmies again? drinkin ketchup from the dump? you can’t bleed, chara.
They show him their leg. Sans eye glows blue for a second.
huh. that’s a new one.
I know. Kind of questioning my whole life right now.
maybe there’s a logical explanation?
If there is I can’t see it. Her soul glows a colour too Sans!
Sans is one of the few that knew about Chara’s soul quirk. It was a top secret pact of trust that the three had made years ago. One attack but with a special poison called karmic retribution. A red soul that floats upside down. Staring down an endless abyss and wanting to join it. The idea was that no one could say anything without the other two secrets coming out. Chara had always been hesitant to fight other monsters because of it, so having friends who knew gave them battle buddies for once.
Sans is rapidly changing from playful to serious mode. He pulls the face he normally saves for Papyrus and the destruction of irreplaceable artefacts (long story. Let’s just say the legendary artefact didn’t always smell of dog food...)
gerson’d know about this sorta stuff. he lived through the war after all. let’s ask him.
And the human?
A leaf fell off her nose and she giggled as it tickled her face.
guess they’re along for the ride.
The two approach her again and Chara clings onto Sans’ shoulder. They’re used to his shortcuts. Sans extends his hand. Jane looks at with fear. The skeleton was frightening her. Sans just gives her a warm smile. “what? don’t you know how to greet a new pal? reach out and take my hand.” She hesitates. Sans gives them a warm look. Her innocence reminds him of Pap. Deciding, she reaches out and takes the hand.
A loud whoopee cushion exhales and she looks up to realise she’s standing somewhere else.
Gerson admits that Chara is human. Sans and Chara are both shocked. Gerson won’t give them the full story. He just says that Chara’s parents died when they were born and the king and queen raised them as their own. Of course they both have questions. But he says he’s not the right one to be answerin’ them.
He stops the conversation to say hello to Jane. “Why are you talking to her? She’s a human.” Gerson laughs. “Wahaha! So are you squirt. Doesn’t mean she can’t hold a little chat.”
She actually is very nice. Sans joins in, sincerely interested in the things she has to say. Chara’s annoyed. They thought they were her friend after the whole ruins thing. And now she’s going and talking to other monsters. Suffice to say, they felt left out. Leaving Gerson, Sans looks at the expression on Chara’s face. “what? you jealous chara?” The lift up their head with a degree of snobbery reserved for royalty. “No.” Sans just laughs.
A phone rings. Sans picks it up. “yeah bro?” “yeah.” “yeah.” “nah.” “sure.” “guess you could say they were a little... frosty about it?” A loud scream could be heard on the other end. “come on bro, that was a real rib tickler.” He waits a few seconds, then hangs up. “welp. duty calls.” He winks and vanishes.
Chara would normally be offended that someone would ditch them so quickly. But when Papyrus is involved, Sans would just as quickly leave while his house was catching on fire. Actually, that’s a bad example. He has set it on fire to spite Gaster before.
“Looks like we’re walking to the New Home then.” Chara sighs. At least the River Person was nearby. That’s a little less time in public.
Jane looks at them. “I’m sorry you had to find out this way.”  Chara stops. “In what way?”  “You know... finding out you’re human from other people. That must be really confusing for you.” They snort. “You don’t even know the least of it.” She pauses. “So what was it like living as a monster?” Chara looks off into the distance. “It was... pretty great. Guess that was all a lie though. So maybe it wasn’t as good as i thought.” Jane frowns. She reaches out and takes their hand. “Even if it wasn’t the truth, I’m sure you had people who loved you.”
Chara smiles at this. They think about Toriel. “I... I guess you’re right.” Jane smiles back. She doesn’t let go of their hand.
“Tralala. Beware the man who speaks in hands. Tralala.”
Chara bursts into giggles. Oh boy. They wish Sans was here right now to hear this. It’s not often you hear the River Person roasting another monster. Let alone that nut job of a Royal Scientist. “Will do, RP. Will do.”
Jane looks at the water.  Chara shifts in the boat to sit next to her. “What are you looking at?”  “The water. It looks so beautiful reflecting these blue stars.” “Haha. They’re not stars princess. Just some glowing rocks stuck to the roof.” She pauses. “But still. It looks very pretty.” Chara stops to look at the sparkling water. It is actually quite beautiful.
For the rest of the boat ride they talk about caves and skies.
So Chara doesn’t want people putting two and two together with Jane. They need to smuggle her through somehow. But that’s not a problem. Alphys has cameras all over Hotland, of course she’ll know some blind spots.
Exiting the boat they lead Jane to the lab. She’s getting used to all these monster environments actually. The room is dark. Walking in, wrappers are scattered on the floor with mess on all the tables. Jane gets concerned. Had an ambush happened here? Chara just walks past it and travels upstairs. Hunched in a cocoon of blankets and food packets, a glowing screen illuminates the lizard’s face. Japaneese school girls chirp from the large television.
“Hey Alphys. Long time no see.”
She jumps up startled. “Ch-chara! This is unexpected!” “Relax Alphys, I’m not here on another anime intervention.”  She sighs in relief. The marathon had only been going 29 hours. No reason for Chara and Sans to get concerned. She looks at the two dark figures standing over her. Sans looks a little different...
“This is Jane.” Chara offers. She stands up and shrugs on her labcoat. A stranger?! And she hadn’t even cleaned anything... oh the lab is a mess! “I-I’m not n-normally this messy ehehehe.” She stutters nervously. Chara just gives her a light laugh. “How’s the whole science thing going?” She frowns at them and adjusts her glasses. “That ‘science thing’ is the cutting edge of monster progress thankyou. W-We’re trying to upgrade the underground communication network at the moment.”
That’s Alphys for you. She always was the genius of the three. “the only one going anywhere in life” Sans liked to joke. She starts a convoluted explanation of the ‘undernet’ while Jane just eats in the room.
“and... and...” “Interesting stuff Alph.” Chara grins as she realises she’s rambling and goes quiet. She pulls a switch on the wall behind her, lighting up the room. “S-so, um. what brings you here?”
“Jane here is a human. I need to take her to Asgore.” Alphys shrieks and drops to the floor in surprise. Cowering under the blankets, she peers out to look at Chara. “Don’t worry. She’s not going to hurt a fly. Are you Jane?” She looks up and shakes her head before looking down at the scientist again.
Alphys had never really recovered from watching the man attack Chara. She still had nightmares about it to this day. Why is Chara acting so casual? Humans are violent creatures that killed monsters! “Alph, I’m here to call in a favour. Can you get us there without other monsters taking notice?”
Her eyes narrow. She’s heard this sort of talk before, right before ending up in more trouble. “Sans put you up to this, didn’t he?”  “Nope. Just me, Alphys. Let’s just say there’s reasons I don’t want to be seen in the same room as her...” Only then does Alphys realise the similarities between them.
She gasps. “Y-you’re a human! Aren’t you?” Chara flinches at the title. “I found out this morning.” She presses her hands to her face in excitement. “Why did i never see this sooner! This is just like that episode where the badguy dresses up in that obvious disguise and no one recognises them even though it’s right there in front of them. I can’t believe i was so stupid!” She is taking this far better than Chara expected her to.
“So can you help?”
“O-of course! A-And... Chara? This doesn’t make you any less my friend you know.”
They smile. “Thanks Alph.”
“I’ve always been so jealous of humans and their art style! Even if they are cruel creatures hell-bent on our destruction. I can’t believe, all this time, i’ve been friends with one!!”
Jane gives Chara a confused look. The just nod and shrug. Alphys is always like this.
“Text me those directions, ok? Remember: don’t really want others finding out.”
“Sure! Uh, bye Chara! ...and other human!”
“Jane.” She corrects kindly. Alphys looks at her for a moment, shocked at how nice she’s being. “...bye Jane.”
So they make it to the castle. Chara puts Jane into the prison. “Wait! I thought we were friends?” She asks as Chara forces her into a cell.  “We are. But...” They pause for a moment, then just give up on the sentence and walk away.
“Hey! Hey! You can’t just leave me like this!”
They need to have a talk with Toriel. She’s in the kitchen, waiting on a butterscotch cinnamon pie. “Mother...” She lifts up her furry head and smiles. “What is it my child?”
“Am i a human?” Her expression goes dark.  “Now what gave you that idea my child?” “Don’t lie to me... Gerson already told me!” She looks aside bitterly. “I think he and I need to have a little talk...” “It’s true, isn’t it? That’s why I can’t use magic. And why I’m different from everyone else.” “My child, you are perfectly nor-” “I’M NOT EVEN YOUR CHILD AM I?”
She stops. Tears form in her eyes. “I... I may have lied to you Chara, but you have always been my child to me.”  “Who were my parents?” She pauses and takes a moment to recollect herself. “I suppose it is time you learned the truth.”
