Unique Wall Painting Design Ideas to Inspire Your Next Project
Tumblr media
The headboard wall is an excellent bedroom accessory wall. In a largely white space, this contemporary bedroom accentuated the wall with a rich hue of peacock green. To produce a modern trendy aesthetic, tiny black lines are applied.
Orange Flare
With this orange-bursting painting effect, you can quickly liven up a small blank wall. Pick your favorite colour and slowly incorporate white paint to get many shades of it—a simple and enjoyable way to bring a splash of colour to a drab spot.
Vertical Divide
Vertically divide design features and accents to create an imaginative, contemporary, and sleek design. With this three-tone vertical division painting, you can quickly enhance your interiors. The grey colours suit the modern minimalistic decor, whereas the cheery yellow acts as the emphasis colour. To continue the hue concept, incorporate yellow decorative elements.
Ombre Circle
This circular ombre painting is ideal for adding a splash of colour to a plain wall. On the wall, create a large circular and split it into many vertical portions. Begin by painting the central section with the previous paint colour. Paint the outside areas after diluting the paint with white. Strip the professional painter's tape that separates the parts.
Charming Check
The checkered wall feature in blue fits the seaside house decorations. But you may create your checking pattern and hang it on your wall. Choose your favorite hue and combine it with three other complementary colours to make your check pattern.
3D Boxes
Make your area more interesting by using 3D wall panel effects. This three-tone 3D box layout is simple to create. To avoid confusion, draw the colour and line them in.
Colourful Geometric
Tumblr media
This colourful and vibrant geometric pattern is great for houses and is perfect for spaces where you require a lot of good energy circulating, such as the living room or the family room. Its vibrant colours are appealing, and the diagonal strokes give the pattern a dynamic appearance.
Random Lines
You can remove empty and uninspiring walls with creativity and a free weekend. This captivating two-tone paint wall decoration is entertaining, trendy, and unique. Its irregular lines and colour-blocking effect draw more attention and personality to the space.
Blended Grey
If you choose a plain grey wall, you need it to be fascinating and one-of-a-kind. The mixed grey wall is intriguing and exceptional for hiring professional painting Services from North Shore. To obtain the cloud-like look, utilize two shades of grey. Painting the bottom of the wall a darker colour and the upper a brighter one. To achieve the blended appearance, employ both colours in the center section, making rapid, forceful strokes.

How Painting Services Can Make Businesses Successful
How Painting Services Can Make Businesses Successful
Tumblr media
Hire Commercial Painters Who Surpass Your Expectations
If you need to repaint your workplace or store but have no idea where to begin, this is where painters specifically for commercial properties come in to help you. It is difficult to locate and employ a skilled commercial painter. The majority of business painters charge double or triple the usual price quoted by other painters, and you can not even be certain of their work's quality or punctuality.
OPC Painting North Shore is proud of the superior quality of our Sydney painting contractors. North Shore's business painters accept jobs of any size or scope. So choose professional painters with confidence for your painting requirements.
Most company owners lack the time to alter their building's appearance and atmosphere. Even if you are familiar with North Shore's business painters, you can not be certain of their reliability. The majority of artists excel at one or the other.
What Happens When You Rely on Local Painters
Tumblr media
Office or store painting might be a difficult process. You must choose the correct painter, verify that they have the proper insurance, and hope they perform a decent job so that you do not have to repaint in a few months. Discovering and engaging a qualified business painter is a nuisance and a risk. There are several business painters in your area, but they all seem to make the same claims. However, if anything goes wrong, such as the paint flaking off after a few weeks, you are left to deal with it on your own.
When you trust your local painters' knowledge and experience, you are met with an outcome that will:
Boost your Business
Improve Employee's Moral
Catch People's Eyes
They recognise the necessity of completing work promptly and effectively without sacrificing quality.
The business painter can also transform the interior of your business when you want to splurge and get interior painting for your place of work to enjoy the three benefits mentioned above. Though if you also want to include exterior painting, painters could help you with that.
Your house undergoes the process of natural deterioration. You will eventually need interior and exterior paint jobs to give your home a fresh appearance. Eventually, the outside is a mirror of the within. Painting a space is one of the fastest, simplest, and cheapest methods to improve a property's kerb appeal.
When you rely on business painters, you collaborate closely with customers to ensure that the final product of your interior and exterior matches their expectations. Avoid having second thoughts about needing to invest in business painters. Avoid spending unneeded expenses.
Are Professional Painters Worth The Hire?
Tumblr media
Whether it's a building, bistro, workshop, retail, or other commercial location, professional painters know how to get the work done fast and effectively, allowing you to concentrate on operating your company.

Satisfied customers are evidence that we can provide quality, quickness, and price.
Professionals in the business painting may assist you in achieving your desired designs and colours, by adding the ideal touch of colour to your walls or bringing vibrancy to an otherwise dull place.
Additionally, The Sydney team offers a comprehensive answer to your business painting requirements. To make you feel comfortable with the commercial painting services, they will arrange a meeting, review your alternatives depending on your budget, present paint colour options, and explain the various materials and equipment that is going to be used.

There are many felicitous echoes and counterpoints along the way. Silent fog on still deep water at the outset; a boat outlined against dark grey and against clouded grey; an explosion of gulls in sea mist and spray. Echoes and chains follow from this: reddened waves under a white sky are transformed into a photograph of the white Mer de Glace with a climber in red, echoing across to memories of Ravilious as painter of the northern waters whose fascination with ice and the shores of the north began with the eighteenth-century painter Francis Towne's renderings of the Mer de Glace in the Alps. Writing this I remember a chance meeting with Ravilious's daughter at the house of friends in London. A handsome and kindly woman in her sixties, with her father's eyes. All the years I have been writing about Ravilious I have occasionally dreamed about him: that he will come into the cold hall of a house that does not exist, a house smelling of coal fires; that he will begin to talk at once, shaking the Arctic Ocean off his dark hair as if it were only rainwater after all, as if he had been caught in the storm on a headland, benighted, laughing, painting out of doors.

Read-Alike Friday: North Woods by Daniel Mason
North Woods by Daniel Mason
When a pair of young lovers abscond from a Puritan colony, little do they know that their humble cabin in the woods will become home to an extraordinary succession of inhabitants. An English soldier, destined for glory, abandons the battlefields of the New World to devote himself to apples. A pair of spinster twins survive war and famine, only to succumb to envy and desire. A crime reporter unearths a mass grave, but finds the ancient trees refuse to give up their secrets. A lovelorn painter, a conman, a stalking panther, a lusty beetle: as each one confronts the mysteries of the north woods, they come to realize that the dark, raucous, beautiful past is very much alive.
Traversing cycles of history, nature, and even literature, North Woods shows the myriad, magical ways in which we’re connected to our environment and to one another, across time, language, and space. Written along with the seasons and divided into the twelve months of the year, it is an unforgettable novel about secrets and fates that asks the timeless how do we live on, even after we’re gone?
Damnation Spring by Ash Davidson
Colleen and Rich Gundersen are raising their young son, Chub, on the rugged California coast. It’s 1977, and life in this Pacific Northwest logging town isn’t what it used to be. For generations, the community has lived and breathed timber; now that way of life is threatened.
Colleen is an amateur midwife. Rich is a tree-topper. It’s a dangerous job that requires him to scale trees hundreds of feet tall - a job that both his father and grandfather died doing. Colleen and Rich want a better life for their son - and they take steps to assure their future. Rich secretly spends their savings on a swath of ancient Redwoods. Colleen, desperate to have a second baby, challenges the logging company’s use of herbicides that she believes are responsible for the many miscarriages in the community - including her own. Colleen and Rich find themselves on opposite sides of a budding conflict that threatens the very thing they are trying to protect: their family.
Migrations by Charlotte McConaghy
Franny Stone has always been the kind of woman who is able to love but unable to stay. Leaving behind everything but her research gear, she arrives in Greenland with a singular purpose: to follow the last Arctic terns in the world on what might be their final migration to Antarctica. Franny talks her way onto a fishing boat, and she and the crew set sail, traveling ever further from shore and safety. But as Franny’s history begins to unspool - a passionate love affair, an absent family, a devastating crime - it becomes clear that she is chasing more than just the birds. When Franny's dark secrets catch up with her, how much is she willing to risk for one more chance at redemption?
Seven Steeples by Sara Baume
It is the winter following the summer they met. A couple, Bell and Sigh, move into a remote house in the Irish countryside with their dogs. Both solitary with misanthropic tendencies, they leave the conventional lives stretched out before them to build another - one embedded in ritual, and away from the friends and family from whom they’ve drifted.
They arrive at their new home on a clear January day and look up to appraise the view. A mountain gently and unspectacularly ascends from the Atlantic, “as if it had accumulated stature over centuries. As if, over centuries, it had steadily flattened itself upwards.” They make a promise to climb the mountain, but - over the course of the next seven years - it remains unclimbed. We move through the seasons with Bell and Sigh as they come to understand more about the small world around them, and as their interest in the wider world recedes.

The west coast of Ireland is famed for its wave-beaten shores and bare, stony mountains, where only a few stunted trees grow in hollows and valleys, bent by harsh storms blowing in from the North Atlantic.
The coastline, with its cold, clean winds and ever-changing skies, gives an impression of unspoiled, primal nature. In 2014, the Irish government designated a 1,550-mile tourist route along the coast, and called it “The Wild Atlantic Way.”
Yet, where generations of painters, poets and visitors have rhapsodized about the sublimity of nature and the scenic Irish countryside, ecologists see a man-made desert of grass, heather and ferns, cleared of most native species by close-grazing sheep that often pull grasses out by the roots.
As climate change threatens even more ecological disruption, a growing Irish “rewilding” movement is calling for the restoration of the native forests that once covered these lands, both as natural machines to capture atmospheric carbon, and to preserve and extend what remains of Ireland’s dwindling biodiversity.
Rewilding, the practice of bringing ravaged landscapes back to their original states, is well established in Britain, where numerous projects are underway. For Ireland, this would mean the re-creation of temperate forests of oak, birch, hazel and yew that once covered 80 percent of the land but now — after centuries of timber extraction, overgrazing and intensive farming — have been reduced to only 1 percent.
For some, rewilding began with a personal choice.
In 2009, Eoghan Daltún, a sculpture restorer, sold his house in Dublin to buy 33 acres of gnarled oaks and rugged hillside on the Beara Peninsula in County Cork, in the far southwest. Where local farmers had once raised a few cattle and sheep, he erected a fence to keep out feral goats and sika deer, two nonnative, invasive species that nibble undergrowth and saplings down to the roots, and kill older trees by gnawing away their bark.
One day in late spring, with the wind driving rain off the foaming ocean, he proudly showed off the results. Wood sorrel, dog violet and celandine were already in flower beneath the twisted branches of mature oak and birch, thickly draped in mosses, ferns and epiphytic plants. New shoots of oak, hawthorn and ash pushed up through the grass and dead ferns.
“The sheep and deer would eat those little saplings before they even started on the grass, so when the old trees eventually died, there’d be no new ones to replace them,” said Mr. Daltún, who wrote about his experiment in “An Irish Atlantic Rainforest,” a memoir. “But the native forest is returning here, all by itself. I don’t have to plant anything.”
Ireland has committed to increasing the total proportion of forested areas to 18 percent by 2050, from 11 percent currently. Yet this would still be well below the European Union average of 38 percent, and most of it would consist of commercial spruce and pine plantations that make up more than 90 percent of Ireland’s current woodlands.
Grown to be harvested within 30 to 40 years, these nonnative conifers are treated with chemicals that pollute groundwater and rivers. Ecologists say little can grow on a forest floor carpeted with dead needles and a desert for insects and native wildlife. And much of the carbon they store is released again when they are harvested.
It would be better for biodiversity and carbon sequestration to pay farmers and landowners to grow native trees and leave them unharvested, according to Padraic Fogarty, the campaign officer for the Irish Wildlife Trust. He cited the example of Costa Rica, which has reversed the Central American trend of deforestation by paying farmers to preserve and extend the rainforest.
Ray Ó Foghlú of Hometree, another rewilding organization, believes farmers could be paid not to plow or graze strips land that border remaining pockets of native woodland — often only a few trees and bushes — that cling to inaccessible hillsides or in the awkward corners of fields. Biologically rich, these microforests would, if left to themselves, quickly recolonize neighboring areas, Mr. Ó Foghlú believes. He himself recently bought nine acres of “scrubland” — home to sessile oaks (Ireland’s national tree), hazels, wood sorrel, blue bells and anemones.
“I pinch myself still that I own it,” he said. “It has a river running through it, and I can’t believe it’s mine, for the price of a second hand car these days.”
Irish rewilding enthusiasts look enviously at the highlands of Scotland, ecologically very similar to the west of Ireland, but where the concentration of ownership in the hands of a few hundred aristocrats and magnates allows rewilding at much greater scale.
Ecologically minded figures like the Danish billionaire Anders Holch Povlsen, Scotland’s largest private landowner, with 220,000 acres, can clear deer and livestock from tens of thousands of acres, allowing native growth to quickly regenerate. Eradicated native species, notably the European beaver, have also been reintroduced to Scotland to restore ecological balance.
In Ireland, where the average farm size is 83 acres, such large-scale rewilding would seem to be unfeasible. The big exception, so far, has been in the unlikely setting of County Meath, in the flat, highly fertile and intensively farmed east of the island, and in the unlikely person of Randal Plunkett, a New York-born filmmaker, vegan and death metal enthusiast.
Since Mr. Plunkett — better known, to some, as the 21st Baron of Dunsany — inherited his 1,700 acre ancestral estate in 2011, he has cleared it of livestock and left one-third to revert to unmanaged forest, complete with a wild herd of native red deer.
“Biodiversity is expanding dramatically,” said Mr. Plunkett, 30, standing in thick woodlands humming with bees and other busy insects. “At least one species has returned every year since we started. Pine martens. Red kites. Corncrakes. Peregrine falcons. Kestrels. Stoats. Woodpeckers. Otter. We think there’s salmon in the river again, for the first time in my life.”
One of his forebears, Sir Horace Plunkett, pioneered modern, industrial farming in Ireland early last century, encouraging small farmers to set up cooperatives and to mechanize their operations and use fertilizers and chemicals. Today, Randal Plunkett says, not everyone in this rich farming area is happy about his decision to abandon intensive agriculture, or to ban all hunting on the estate.
“It’s safe to say I’m not popular with the hunting crowd,” he said. “I’ve had death threats.”
Rewilding has its opponents. Ireland’s influential agribusiness lobbies are economically and culturally suspicious of suggestions that farmland should be allowed to revert to what they traditionally derided as “scrub.” People will always need food, they point out. In more marginal areas in the uplands and west, farmers argue recent regulations have reduced the numbers of sheep they can graze per acre, and that removing them altogether would harm existing biodiversity.
“If you leave an area ungrazed and unmanaged, you leave an area that’s at risk of being burned,” said Vincent Doddy, the president of the Irish Natura and Hill Farmers Association. “I think cattle and sheep are the most cost effective way of managing the land.”
Even on poor soil and small farms, where livestock production is sustainable only through government grants and second jobs, the title of farmer is still prized beyond its cash value.
“You’d have some of them who’d say, ‘Sheep are a part of my family tradition, and my identity, and it’s what I want to do,’” said Mr. Daltún, who himself keeps some cattle on his 33 acres. “But others would see the benefit of being paid for looking after the land, and letting it regenerate, and to have time to focus more on their other work or business.”

Key Tips for Choosing the Right Painters and Tilers for Your Home
It is usually ideal to engage a professional to paint or tile your house in case one wants to do so as part of home improvement or remodelling. Searching and choosing the appropriate painter or tiler for the particular work might be difficult yet. Although choosing the correct tiler in North Shore and home painting services for any project is crucial, I will walk you through the most crucial points below.
Research Potential Contractors Extensively
Go ahead and interview once you have limited your search to perhaps three to five possible house painters or tilers. Making a list of questions ahead of time guarantees that they address experience, expertise, specialised knowledge, project management style, deadline, and others. To ensure that other clients are likewise happy, also request referrals. Find out how well every contractor listens and communicates himself or herself during the interview. The ideal fit should have plenty of similar jobs finished right and answer all questions in an exact and detailed manner.
Exensively compare bids
Remember not to decide just based on cost when assessing proposals from possible builders. The lowest quote might not cover certain pre-planning or building activity or might offer lesser quality materials, so it can be unreal. One should also make sure that one bid is not less than the other; some chores are eliminated while the other has included all tasks. Furthermore, it is advisable not to follow overly high bids since this can cause overcharging. Examine the value you are getting for the given price and then look for the appropriate offer in respect to the scale of your particular project.
Check bonds, licenses, and insurance.
Before signing the final contract with the home painter or tiler you have chosen, be sure they have a current licence for your area and state. Ask for proof of each and seek both workers compensation and general liability insurance. While workers compensation covers medical costs should an employee be injured working on your property, liability coverage guarantees the contractor is liable for any damage to your property. Professional tilers and painters should also be ready to generate the documentation on demand. Decline any contractor who is reluctant or unable to show he is actively licensed and insured.
Plan your start date
Agree on the start date in writing once you have hired the appropriate painting or tile professional for your home job. This should cover not only the date the project will start but also the date each of the several procedures guiding to the last stage will be completed. Almost all contractors will divulge the kind of work they are currently working on and their capacity to start by a specified date. Employing a construction crew to forward the project schedule ahead of time enables one to prepare for the demands of the employment.
Review efforts on a regular basis
Once the project starts, even if you have most likely previously done your homework on the contractor, you should occasionally review the work. Make sure that important pre-painting operations like repair work, sealing gaps, and surface cleaning were carried out according to the estimates and that paint coats are being applied consistently without blurs or skips for a painting job. For tiling, take into account accurate measuring, smooth surface, proper joint alignment and connections. Corrective comments should be given right away on any flaws to help them to be corrected. Problems are always easier to manage when they are discovered so that they never develop into serious concerns down road.
Tumblr media
Control payments in line with benchmarks
Reliable house painting and tile companies will let you know about the payment method in conjunction with reasonable project phases. Make payments in phases corresponding to certain phases of the employment instead than insisting on collecting 100% of the money upfront or at one go. Hold 10–20% for the last payment; they should only be paid once the job is completed and the client reviews the work. It facilitates payment management such that your contractor remains motivated all through the project.
Result
Improving the appearance of any house depends mostly on the choice of competent and respectable tilers and house painters in North Shore. This simple and transparent strategy will help you to paint, tile or whatever else you wish to do to your property without worrying and simplify the procedure. Key to guaranteeing professional results fit for years to come is screening, confirming, planning, and evaluation.

Ontario and back
Week 5
Tumblr media
We left Harriston under heavy rain on our way up to Tobermory to take the ferry across to South Baymouth on Manitoulin Islands, a two hour ferry ride. On our way north on Hwy 3 we drove through large farms and flat land. The landscape turned more hilly as we got closer to Georgian Bay.  There was more bush and the farms were replaced by cattle ranches, cleared bushland being prepared for farming.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We got into Tobermory to cloudy skies and setup camp at the Tobermory Village Campground. It’s getting colder now and that takes some of the fun out of camping…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We got to the ferry a little late but in time to get on it. The crossing was in blustery conditions and driving rain. We passed by many islands on the first part of the crossing, but no houses on them, probably because these islands are very rocky and no beaches to be seen. The ferry ride was a bit rocky but I have experienced worse on the crossings to Vancouver Island.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We drove straight north on Hwy 6 in the rain to Sheguandah then west on 540 to Gore Bay where we drove out to the lighthouse to take some pictures. The weather got lighter as we drove west with blue skies to the west.
We then continued our drive around the island. Along the way we saw some big flocks of Sandhill Cranes and geese feasting on leftover grains in the fields.  The landscape on the island is mostly flat and scrubby, grazing land good for cattle and sheep and a few farms.
Tumblr media
We made our way to Batman’s Cottages and Campground on the east side of Bass Lake to setup for the night. Due to the blue skies on the western horizon we enjoyed an amazing sunset here.  It was windy and stormy all night, so we hunkered down in the van and played cards, she won :/  The sound of the wind gusts in the trees was similar to the sound of waves crashing onto the rocks at the Oregon coast.  Still managed a good nights sleep.
In the morning we drove to Sudbury in the driving rain and snow. After turning off the main highway, we turned onto the road that took us to the Science Center, a great place to escape from the miserable weather. I love science and here is a place that offers a big variety of sciences with an interactive element. This can be a playground for as long as you want.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The architecture of the building is grand and the integration of the rocks of the Laurentian shield is clever and informative. One exhibit is about the geological formation of the area. We ended the visit with an IMAX presentation by Jane Goodall about Hope, inspiring …
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We visited my friend Jaylene in the afternoon and evening to share stories about life and our kids. We went for a neighbourhood walk in the misty fall weather. All the sidewalks are shaded by maple trees and they were in full colours, beautiful.
We left Sudbury the next morning in the rain and drove north on Hwy 144 to Geneva Lake where we were met met by Kate, Lindas’ school buddy. Kate and Oscar live on the lake, water access only in the summer and over the ice in winter. This brings along some challenges but I can see the rewards. They live on a bluff overlooking the lake and have all the amenities, great place to be retired with a lot of family nearby. Life is good!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We arrived in the rain, so much of the activity was indoors playing cards and reminiscing, we learned several new Rummy games, a long walk on the mainland & enjoyed a wood fired sauna at 100c and a dip in the lake at 14c :))
We left Geneva Lake under grey skies and drove south on 144 to 17 west to ‘The Sault’. We stopped at Onaping Falls to take some pictures.  A.Y. Jackson, the famous Canadian painter, one of the Group of Seven was inspired by this location, beautiful fall colours and the whitewater rushing over the rocks and the falls.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The weather improved as we drove west on 17 and the fall colours still looked awesome in the sunshine. We drove past countless small lakes and small towns along the shores of Lake Huron North Channel. Through Sault Ste Marie and then north along the shores of Lake Superior to Wawa where we camped overnight.
The next morning we left for Thunder Bay. From Wawa to Nipigon there is a whole lot of nothing but bush and rocks, some of it a bit unusual, but it looks all the same after a while. West of Nipigon we came upon the major roadwork projects we saw two weeks ago.
A ways past Thunder Bay we turned onto Hwy 11 west to Fort Frances. There are mostly native communities, with long distances between them along the way on this stretch of the trip. Some of these towns are neat and tidy and some have a lot of ‘yard art’ ;)  It was a long day driving, we got into Fort Frances as it was getting dark.  We entered the address for the campground into the GPS and it took us to the industrial section of town next to a truckers terminal, not what we were looking for :/ we found an empty lot and parked for the night. In the morning we drove north on Hwy 71 to Kenora.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There are many rest areas and lookouts to take a break.  One of the nicest was Sioux Narrows on the Lake of the Woods, absolutely a stunning setting in the middle of nowhere…  From Kenora west to Winnipeg we saw the landscape from the other direction. The fall colours are fading fast now, but it’s still very pretty through here.
We arrived in Winnipeg at noon and went to the Museum of Human Rights.  This is another amazing and beautiful structure inside and out.  The exhibits although disturbing, are very profound and very well done.  Walking through these exhibits, it occurred to me how the human race does not learn from history.  We seem to allow the politicians and leaders to perpetuate human created tragedies and misery over and over again. Currently it’s in Russia/Ukraine and the middle east. Tomorrow it could be north America.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The exhibits describe how fascists and dictators manage the narrative and the media to take control of a country.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It makes me realize that the Swiss had it right in 1291 when they decided that they would no longer be ruled by anybody and took control with Direct Democracy. This has not changed to this day, even in Switzerland the politicians don’t like it but they can’t change it because the people would have to agree to the change. No Fascist can rise in that system of governing.
On Sunday we had a nice family gathering with Lindas’ oldest brother and his kids and grand kids.  They are all living busy lives and the grand kids are all involved in sports and activities, such as hockey, gymnastics and dance. There were no cell phones in sight, nice to see.
We left Winnipeg in the afternoon and drove to Barndon to get a head start the next day.  The 100km radius area around Winnipeg is super flat, farm land as far as the eye can see with the occasional cluster of grain silos and the odd clump of trees and bush.
We stayed in the Meadowlark Campground, went for a walk, had dinner and played cards until bedtime.  It was a cold night and made us realize that fall is here and winter is coming, the camping days are coming to an end… and we’re looking forward to coming home!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The road west to to Regina is in good shape (and flat). Between Whitewood and Broadview it showed a ski hill on the map just to the north of us and I’m thinking it can only be for x-country skiing, but apparently not ;)
We arrived in Regina in time for lunch and walk in the waterfront park at Wascana Lake in the centre of the city. We took some pictures of the parliament building across the river and had lunch.  Then we went for a visit at the Regina Floral Conservatory. This is an indoor tropical garden setting and the display of plants is changed 4 times, this theme was Halloween, well done. I was told that the favourite is Christmas with a focus on the poinsettias, I can imagine :)  The place is run by volunteers, is beautifully maintained, and there was nothing ‘out of place’, with a nice water works and orchids, well done!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After this we moved on to Moose Jaw only an hour away.  We arrived in the late afternoon just in time to take in the Chicago Connection walking tour of the underground tunnels used during prohibition 100 years ago and the Al Capone connection of that era. This was a fun interactive tour :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We took in the mineral pools at the Temple Garden Spa. Nice very large indoor/outdoor pool and Jacuzzis with a nice steam room for a couple of hours. We set up camp at The Prairie Oasis campground, nice and clean and it was a milder afternoon and evening. Nice evening but grey skies morning.

Discovering Nearby Gems of Queen Elizabeth Park
Vancouver is one of the most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities in Canada: 49.3 percent of its residents are not native English speakers, 47.8 percent are native speakers of neither English nor French, and 54.5 percent of residents belong to visible minority groups. It has been consistently ranked one of the most livable cities in Canada and in the world. In terms of housing affordability, Vancouver is also one of the most expensive cities in Canada and in the world. Vancouver plans to become the greenest city in the world. Vancouverism is the city's urban planning design philosophy.

Queen Elizabeth Park
Queen Elizabeth Park, Vancouver’s horticultural jewel, is a major draw for floral display enthusiasts and view-seekers, and as a popular backdrop for wedding photos. At 125 m above sea level, it’s the highest point in Vancouver and makes for spectacular views of the park, city, and mountains on the North Shore.

The 52-hectare park is home to the stunning Bloedel Conservatory. There is also a gorgeously landscaped quarry garden, the arboretum with its collection of exotic and native trees, sculptures including one by internationally renowned artist Henry Moore, and diverse recreational offerings such as tennis, lawn bowling and pitch & putt. The park is also the perfect setting for fine dining at Seasons in the Park, a picnic or stargazing!
Queen Elizabeth Park is a beautiful place to visit, and with so many activities it's hard not to find something for everyone in your group. Whether you're looking for a great place for a quick walk or want to spend the day immersing yourself in nature and culture in this urban oasis, Queen Elizabeth Park has something for everyone!
Bloedel Conservatory
Bloedel Conservatory is a domed lush paradise located in Queen Elizabeth Park atop the City of Vancouver’s highest point. More than 100 exotic birds, and 500 exotic plants and flowers thrive within its temperature-controlled environment. Constructed through a very generous donation from Prentice Bloedel, Bloedel was dedicated at its opening in 1969 “to a better appreciation and understanding of the world of plants."
