"Faerie Tale Theatre" Posthumous Reunion: The Stars' Final Resting Places

Some people might think I'm obsessed with death. A minor hobby of mine is to research celebrities' final resting places, via the website Find a Grave and the YouTube channel Hollywood Graveyard. And I like perusing themed guides to famous graves. For example, Hollywood Graveyard's videos themed to Christmas, Halloween, the cast and crew of The Wizard of Oz, cast and crew members of The Twilight Zone, etc., or Find A Grave's "Posthumous Reunion" pages for famous movie and TV show casts, sports teams, etc.

I decided to create a similar guide for the cast of Shelley Duvall's Faerie Tale Theatre. Sadly, all too many stars of that cult classic series are no longer with us. Ferry Cross the Kentucky

Follow Tates Creek Road between Nicholasville and Richmond, and you'll find your route abruptly interrupted by the Kentucky River, with the road going right into it! This turn of events must come as quite a shock to out-of-towners who are just passing through or, worse, are lost. This spot in the road is known as Valley View.

At that point, the only to get across to the other side without turning around and going forty miles out of your way is to board the Valley View Ferry. It's a paddlewheel ferryboat that you drive your car onto and let shuttle you across the river as you sit at the wheel. This has been the case since 1785 and apparently will be forever, since the landowners were granted a "perpetual and irrevocable franchise" to operate the ferry here.

After 210 years of service, the original ferryboat collapsed under the weight of snow and ice during a snowstorm in 1996. The new boat, called the John Craig after the original operator, utilizes parts from the old ferry.

The ferry runs from six a.m. to eight p.m. weekdays, eight a.m. to eight p.m. Saturdays, and nine a.m. to eight p.m. Sundays. It is closed during the winter months, which must be a profound inconvenience for those who live in the area!
