"nObOdY wAnTs To WoRk AnYmOrE!!!!" well, here's some snippets of the apparent numbers of applicants on seek, for jobs that i've applied to in the last few months, up to just this week:
to be an HR advisor officer in a call centre in sydney (i received the rejection email for this yesterday (23/8/24) morning like considering i applied 2 weeks late, yeah that's fair lol):
to be an HR coordinator, (employee experience) for another company in sydney:
to be a hub concierge at my local area's homelessness specialist services hub (i only applied for this to get ONE of my qualifications to ACTUALLY be useful- ie my certificate IV in housing):
a customer support and sales position at a local branch of a multinational logistics company:
a client administrator/coordinator role at a local aged care provider:
an HR admin position at some type of tech or finance firm where i am:
an admin support position for a local job provider program or something:
being a housing officer/community housing worker, again in sydney (and to use my cert IV in housing):
a scheduling and rostering position at a local aged care service:
being a support coordinator trainee at a local NDIS (aussie national disability insurance scheme) provider:
being a receptionist + administration assistant at a local real estate agent:
most of these i just got a "unlikely to progress" through seek, or outright ghosted. some of them did give me the auto reject email or an email from a person for rejection. but with these numbers..... how the fuck do you think people are ACTUALLY GETTING jobs????
and mind you, this is ONLY seek (which is a big job board in australia and NZ). I have NO idea the amount of applications these places ALSO HAVE across other platforms such as indeed, jora, adzuna, ethicaljobs (for the NGO/charity etc sectors for the jobs in housing or disability support jobs etc), the dreaded linkedin AND all the other job sites.... and actual employer sites that I've applied on directly. (except for the dept of communities and justice (dcj) housing officer job that I had an info session for just on wednesday this last week.... where there were 120 other applicants in there with me, but STATEWIDE [bc it's the new south wales gov housing dept homes nsw]). but yeah. fuck off with the "nobody wants to work anymore" bs.
#life#about me#shut up ilona#ilona's jobhunting thoughts and woes#ilona's work thoughts#ilona's work dilemmas#but then again some of these i didn't actually want really (the housing officer ones tbh and anything in sydney)#i'm just filling in numbers for my centrelink job requirement each month tbh.#ie the 20 jobs/100 points a month requirement just to get a measly $770 a fortnight... with some fake jobs lmao.#last month though i had on 80 points through CL bc im purposely using the fake job apps (and some real ones) to fill my 20 jobs....#...20 jobs a month on the first day of the new month swap ( the 24th/25th of every month)#so then i dont have to worry about it all month lmao

My 2023 in retrospect...
Well, that year is almost over. Here's my story of 2023.
This year marked the 30th Anniversary of my time at the Surrey Downs Child Care Centre which I didn't like a little at first as I felt like a prisoner but I soon got the hang of it later. Also, my first video game, 'Super Mario All-Stars' for the SNES hit store shelves 30 years ago too but didn't get it until Christmas a year later at that time.
In January, I went to the St Kilda Mangrove Boardwalk for the first time in many years. It looked a bit different compared with last time I looked.
In February, I got a Lightburn Zeta coffee mug and saw a show at the Garden Of Unearthly Delights all by myself for the first time in my life! Then later, I saw Luke Million perform music from his first album 'Gina The Synth Cat' on his handy keytar! Then at the end, I got lucky and managed to grab one of his drumsticks! From a shop in Chinatown, I bought a Pikachu-design bathroom spout extension which slides onto most horizontal spouts!
In March, I got my Knight Rider Historians tee-shirt showing the GMC Prime Mover & Trailer which is now currently being restored. Went to the new TK-Maxx store at Churchill Centre in Kilburn and tried both 'Bard' & 'Barbarian' burgers from Carl's Jr who have teamed up with the board game based film, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Theives. After a remarkable 25 Years, Ash Ketchum's quest to become a true Pokemon Master came to an epic conclusion with the callback mini-series, 'Aim To Be A Master'. He and Pikachu came a long, long way together through the low times and the high. We still saluted him, celebrated him and praised him like we should.
In April, I went to a LEGO exhibit at the Museum Of Adelaide, then to a car show at Echunga Oval and then to an Easter carnival on Ridley Reserve. Bought the LEGO Icons 'Land Rover Defender 110' which is considered to be my best one for 2023 with working suspension, steering and the ability to tow! I even built a trailer to go with it!
In May, I took a time-lapse video of a Wisdom 'Sizzler' ride being setup for the first time in my life! Built a LEGO model of the gas heater we used to have in the lounge room until 2007. Went on a few tram rides at the St Kilda Tramway Museum.
In June, went to the Model Railway Exhibition in Angle Park. Then went on a few buses during a 'Farewell Tour' of the MAN NL202 fleet.
In July, I put 'Richard Stevens Hire' decals on my blue LEGO trailer as a nod to the days before Kennards came to South Australia! The old streetlights on our street were upgraded to LED. Saw the 'Barbie' movie at Hoyts. Brixpo was way better than ever, so was AVCon!
In August, The St Kilda Tramway Museum had a showcase of old buses. Then I went to the Gawler Show.
In September, Went to the Royal Adelaide Show and saw a small ex-John Martins semi trailer which was owned by one of the amusement companies. The supposed Masters Home Improvement store in Noarlunga is now being converted to Bunnings after sitting unused for quite some time. My grandmother Ann Smith turned 90 and we celebrated her birthday at the main hall in her aged care village. Took a hike in Cobbler Creek Recreation Park and I was exceptionally lucky to avoid getting bitten by a snake which could've cut my life short. Then I finally advanced onto my full driver's license and had a beer at the Old Spot Hotel in commemoration of the 15th Anniversary of my first 'legal drink'.
In October, The former house of 'The Owens' (i.e. my mother's parents) was put up for sale. Had a discussion with an NDIS employee at the Disabilty, Ageing & Lifestyle Expo at the showgrounds. Then for the first time in almost 13 years, looked around in the Roseworthy Agricultural Museum and went on some rides at the Roseworthy Miniature Railway Club! Went to the Tonsley Hotel in Clovelly Park to have a meal before it closed its doors to be redeveloped for the T2D Infrastructure Project. The former Red Rooster building at Harbor Town in West Beach was finally demolished after TEN YEARS! Then I went to the National Motor Museum for the 'Bay To Birdwood' car showcase!
In November, Went to the first ever Tiny Homes Expo at the Adelaide Showgrounds. Ingle Farm Shopping Centre changed its name to Ingle Farm Plaza and the old 'wind pump' signboards had to be removed and replaced with generic rectangular ones. Went to the Skye Lookout for a lovely view of the city and its surroundings. Bought the new Jazwares 'Train & Play Deluxe Pikachu' from Toyworld! I just couldn't resist it.
In December, I went to the new entertainment complex in the former Harris Scarfe floors of Rundle Place. Received my 1/43 Scale Knight Rider FLAG Rig from a seller in Portugal but was in a few pieces so I had to gorilla-glue them back on. Also did a repair to a LEGO Fabuland plane set as the left-side exhaust pipe was in two pieces when I bought it from a shop in Cowell. Went on Adelaide's first ever BEB (Battery-Electric Bus) on Route 99C for the first time in my life! For Christmas, I got the new LEGO Chevrolet Corvette!

Know About The Properties Under The NDIS Service
The National Disability Insurance Scheme or NDIS is a government-supported program in Australia that provides funding and support to people with disabilities. The program is aimed to provide people with disability and their families with the necessary support and opportunities to achieve their goals and live an independent life.
NDIS property for sale poses both opportunities and challenges. One opportunity for investors is the growing demand for property that meets the NDIS requirements. NDIS properties for sale in Melbourne are designed to cater to people with special needs, so these properties are built with specific features such as wider doorways, accessible bathrooms, and wheelchair ramps. Selling NDIS properties can create a new and profitable market for private investors, developers, and organisations.
On the other hand, selling NDIS properties in Narre Warren can be challenging as specific requirements must be met to ensure that the services provided are still accessible to the disabled community. The sale of NDIS properties must consider the NDIS guidelines that require housing to have the necessary modifications and designs to meet the needs of people with disabilities. It is essential to ensure that buyers are aware of these requirements before the transactions are finalised.
There are both opportunities and challenges when selling NDIS properties. Property investors and organisations can take advantage of the growing market for NDIS-compliant housing. However, sellers must consider ethical concerns when conducting business. Ultimately, it is recommended that sellers should seek professional advice and guidance before proceeding with the sale of their NDIS properties.

NDIS Household Tasks
The household tasks NDIS category provides you with support from experienced NDIS providers in a range of essential domestic chores at whichever level you require.
These services are a great way to build your independence, while maintaining your home and garden. They are also an essential part of your NDIS support plan.
Cleaning
Cleaning is a big part of any household. It helps to know what to do and when, and a good cleaning routine can make life easier for everyone. The most basic chores, like vacuuming and dusting, should be done daily, whereas more involved jobs, such as scrubbing the bathroom grout or rearranging the dining room table, require a little more thought. You should also plan for seasonal cleaning projects, such as spring and fall gutter cleanouts and seasonal weeding of the garden.
There are many ways to go about it, but the best way to accomplish your cleaning goals is to create a master cleaning schedule, including daily, weekly and monthly tasks for each family member. This will help keep your sanity, and your house in pristine condition. It's also a great way to stay on top of the latest trends in cleaning technology, such as green cleaning products, eco-friendly home cleaning solutions and hygienic laundry methods.
Meal Preparation
Getting in the kitchen to prepare meals is an important part of a healthy lifestyle. It saves time, reduces stress and encourages nutrient-rich, healthy meals.
Typically, meal prep involves planning and shopping for a week of meals before cooking them. It can also involve making large batches to freeze or refrigerate, preparing ingredients for multiple dishes at once and portioning out foods as needed.
Overall, meal preparation is an important household task for most people. It can be time consuming, but it can be done with the right strategies.
Among households that included at least one adult, about three-quarters of women (76%) and two-in-ten men (20%) said they were the usual meal preparers. Dads were about twice as likely to say they split these tasks equally with other family members.
Meal Delivery
When you’re busy with work, kids and other household tasks, finding time to grocery shop, cook and clean up can be hard. But a meal delivery service is an easy way to get high-quality meals on the table without all of that stress.
In addition to helping you avoid trips to the supermarket, these services also save you a lot of time. They usually deliver meals that are ready to heat in just a few minutes, allowing you to spend less time cooking and more time relaxing.
Many of these services offer a variety of options to help you meet your nutrition goals on a weekly basis, including vegan, gluten-free, keto and paleo diets. These meal kits can also make it easier to regulate your fat, sugar and carbs on a regular basis.
Shopping
Shopping is a popular household activity that involves the purchase of a variety of goods and services. These may be sold in stores such as retail and grocery stores, online through e-commerce, or over the phone with catalogues or telemarketers.
The act of shopping can be a fun and educational experience for children, who have the opportunity to learn about different types of products and how they can be used to complete their own projects. Some examples of shopping worthy activities include choosing the best coffee shop for your java fix, visiting the nearby mall to peruse the latest trends in home decor and fashion, or scouring the internet for the best deals on household items like toys and clothing.
It is not uncommon for children to be dazzled by the many options and gizmos available at their fingertips, or to be swayed by a TV advertisement featuring an enticing sales pitch. The best way to ensure your child is not swayed is to make them responsible for their own task list by assigning a specific task and setting a timer. This will help the children learn to manage their own errands, and also teach them about the importance of accountability.

Top 5 Reasons Why You Should Buy an Electric Trike Bike
For the most part of the past year, almost everyone in the world has been holed up in the confines of their homes. Most outdoor activities were halted, and we were left with no choice but to find ways on how to keep moving inside the house.
However, as restrictions ease this year (and with access to vaccines), some people are back on their feet in searching for safe ways to enjoy the outdoors. One activity that has grown especially popular in countries such as Australia is riding electric trike bikes.
The electric trike industry also grew popular among adults, seniors, and those with limited abilities. How so? In this article, we will find out why more and more people are making the switch to e-trikes, and the reasons why you should consider buying one too!
What is an Electric Trike?
An electric tricycle, or most commonly known as the e-trike, is the three-wheeled sister of the electric bike. It is a tricycle that is powered by an electric motor, and relies on battery power to operate. Unlike the manual tricycle, many have reported that electric trike bikes are more convenient and easier to use.
With manual tricycles, one of the most prominent disadvantages would be climbing up hills. This is because trikes are generally heavier than bikes, and pedaling upwards could be hard using leg power alone.
To solve this problem, an electric trike is furnished with an electric motor to its drive train to make pedaling easier as it adds speed to every ride.
Additionally, there is a wide range of electric trikes for adults and seniors available in the market these days. With the electric ride’s focus on balance and storage, it has become a favourable companion for those who seek for riding comfort and stability.
There are many reasons why man favour the modernized electric trike bikes over the traditional ones. You will learn more about them as you read on!
Why Should You Buy an Electric Trike?
As we have mentioned earlier in this article, many are now discovering the wonders of an electric three-wheel trike. This is because it provides the same benefits of an electric bike, and more. It can become a trusty transport alternative, a way to enjoy outdoor activities, and even a dependable ride as you fulfill your daily chores like picking up the groceries, or taking your dog to the park.
The sky is the limit when it comes to these electric trike bikes, and these are a few reasons why!
Electric trike bikes help you get active, improve your lifestyle, and promote fitness. It is a known fact that in order to live a healthier life, one must become more physically active. Riding an electric trike bike regularly can help you in achieving that, as it provides ample exercise that your body needs. It is one of the best ways to reduce health risks and to get you moving towards a more active lifestyle.
Cycling is a low-impact workout that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. In fact, there are even electric trikes for adults and seniors that help them enjoy the outdoors like they have never done before. Even those with limited abilities get to enjoy such activities because of specialized e-trikes.
When you do this twice or thrice a week, you will notice the improvement on your health, and even on your mindset. An electric tricycle is a great way to work out your body and mind, with less risk to injuries and strain. It also boosts your stamina, muscle strength, and even your immune system.
With the help of an electric trike, you can enjoy the great outdoors, while getting your dose of moderate exercise.
With and e-trike, you get to help save the environment. Consumers are now becoming more aware of the environmental impact an electric ride has. Electric trike bikes are one of the greener alternatives that can help lessen our environmental foot prints on the planet.
Powered by rechargeable lithium-ion batteries, some electric trike bikes can already travel up to 120KM on a single charge. These electric trikes for seniors and adults give out zero emission and do not burn any kind of fossil fuels. Unlike cars which reportedly emit approximately two tons of carbon dioxide each year, electric tricycles do not release any harmful gases into the atmosphere.
In addition, e-trikes contribute highly to lessening the use of non-renewable materials. It is safe to say that not only do they help lessen pollution—they aid in promoting sustainability too. As we see improvements like solar chargers, it will only be a matter of time until electric trikes are deemed 100% environment-friendly.
It’s a practical alternative to cars. For people who are commuting every day, heavy traffic is one of their dilemmas. With this, some scramble on their feet to find a quicker and hassle-free way to go out and about. In this regard, it has been proven many times that an electric bike or an electric trike can be an alternative to a car.
One of the most popular benefits of an electric trike bike is how it can shorten the length of your travel due to its pedal assist motor. Not only that, an adult electric trike’s ability to stop and start quickly makes it perfect for riding in cities where you would usually have to stop ang go at intersections and traffic lights. It is also swift enough to make tight turns maneuverable compared to cars.
On the economical side of things, electric trikes bikes have a lot to offer. One of the most prominent benefits is that you save a lot from gas money. As the cost of gas rises left and right, you know that it takes up a lot from your savings especially when you use it to commute every day. With an electric trike, you can enjoy a range of 500-120KM within just a single charge. This is possible when you choose at electric trike for sale at a reasonable price, with superb battery quality, and a powerful motor. There are a lot of this kind of e-trikes available in the market—you just have to find the right electric ride distributor to trust!
Adding this, a few safety gears that will definitely last you for years, and low-maintenance costs, an electric trike bike is a one-time practical purchase that you surely won’t regret.

It can also carry shopping bags, other gear for your outdoor activities, and even your pets! These rear racks are wide enough to assure that you have a convenient ride on the daily.
Adding to that, electric trike bikes are now being utilized in essential jobs like food and goods delivery. In a way, they have helped small and big businesses in cut the riders’ travel costs, and lean onto a more eco-friendly and sustainable system.
There’s and e-trike for everyone! Depending on how and where you want to use it, there will always be a right e-trike for you. You can take your e-trike to a trip to the mall or the grocer’s, on a light and fun cruise at the park or beach, to climb up hills with your friends, to ride with your pets or even your grandparents, and most commonly, to go to and school or to work. An electric trike is able to accompany you in almost all kinds of situations!
If you enjoy the outdoors, you can opt for an electric cargo trike bike that has wide rear rack where you can tow your stuff for when you go on a picnic, or even your golf bags. Adventurers who want to tackle uneven terrains and uphill climbs comfortably can go for a powerful electric drift trike which has fat tyres and wider foot rest for added stability.
If you need a ride to work or school every day, you can go for a stylish electric trike bike that’s made especially for the urban setting.
Most especially, (and this is probably one of the things these electric rides are popular for), electric trike bikes for adults and seniors are made even more accessible these days. These e-trikes help those with mobility or balancing issues stay physically active. Adults and seniors are also given more options to enjoy outdoor activities, or if they want to spend their days productively. With a low step-over frame, wide foot rest and three wheels, an electric trike is the most favourable ride for it provides stability and balance to the rider, without the need to put a foot down.
There are many reasons to buy an electric trike bike, and these are just some of the greatest reasons why. With this much advantages to the electric ride, it’s impossible not to fall in love with it as you cruise your way to an improved lifestyle!
Where Can You Buy Electric Trikes in Australia?
Australia is probably one of the biggest markets for electric trikes these days. With that being said, electric ride manufacturers and distributors rise left and right to cater to the demands.

FMDQ Securities Exchange Breaks NSE’s Monopoly
By Tony Ademiluyi An attempt was made some 19 years ago to establish an alternative platform to the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), where securities and other financial instruments would be traded, but that dream did not see the light of the day as the proposed Abuja Stock Exchange (ASE) failed to thrive. The then chairman of the ASE Steering Committee, Dr. Shamsudeen Usman, had explained that the planned establishment of ASE was in order to give the investing public and other stakeholders in the capital market another choice and to encourage innovative market creation and development strategies. Usman who was a deputy governor with the CBN at the time also pointed out that the main objective of founding the Abuja Stock Exchange had never been to replace the existing stock exchange, but to provide “the much-needed competition to better the lot of the Nigerian investor.” He, however, could not achieve that lofty dream due to what persons close to the deal described as power play between the then head of the NSE, Dr. Ndi Okereke Onyiuke and the promoters of the ASE. What Usman and other promoters of the ASE could not achieve in about two decades ago, was done a team led by Mr. Bola Onadele.Koko, managing director of the erstwhile FMDQ OTC Exchange Plc in partnership with his board of directors, who successfully changed the status of the company to FMDQ Securities Exchange Plc. The new status enables the company, which is now a full fledge securities exchange to trade in all securities including fixed income, equities, derivatives, commodities and foreign exchange. The transition of FMDQ from an over-the-counter (OTC) platform to a full-blown securities exchange, according to financial experts, represents a paradigm shift in the Nigerian capital market. It ends the unwritten mono-stock exchange policy and opens up the capital market to intense competition. Of course, the transition could not have sailed through without the permission of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). “We are pleased to inform you of our Company’s transition from an OTC Market to a full-fledged Securities Exchange, having received the necessary approvals from the apex regulator of the Nigerian capital market, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC or the Commission). Consequently, the erstwhile FMDQ OTC PLC, also previously known as FMDQ OTC Securities Exchange, has now changed its name to FMDQ Securities Exchange PLC (FMDQ Exchange or the Exchange),” a statement from FMDQ Securities Exchange Plc disclosed. Sources within The Exchange revealed that SEC approved the amendment of the registration of FMDQ OTC Plc from ‘an OTC Market’ to a full-fledged ‘securities exchange’ in March 2019. To show total readiness for its new business line, FMDQ Securities Exchange Plc has commenced clearing services. “Following registration of FMDQ Clear Limited by SEC as a clearing and settlement company in Nigeria in November 2017, the company’s clearing house subsidiary became operationalised on January 2, 2018,” Onadele.Koko disclosed in a statement at the 7th annual general meeting of the company held in Lagos recently. He added that ‘The Exchange’ also launched the FMDQ Derivatives Market Development Project to concentrate corporate effort targeted developing a more vibrant derivatives market in Nigeria. FMDQ Depository Limited completes the value chain of pertinent market infrastructure in the Nigerian financial markets, particularly the post trade spectrum, following the operationalisation of FMDQ Clear Limited. FMDQ explained that the implications of its new status are far-reaching as the careful implementation of the FMDQ Entities – FMDQ Exchange, FMDQ Clear and FMDQ Depository – have not only created robust linkages between hitherto fragmented spheres of the markets, but also presented the market with an efficient, innovative and integrated financial market infrastructure (FMI) group for the seamless execution, clearing and settlement of financial markets transactions. “Having set the pace in the fixed income, currency and derivatives markets, FMDQ Exchange, as a full-fledged securities exchange, will position itself to cover new markets equities and commodities – in the near- to mid-term,” The Exchange said. Onadele.Koko said the development of the exchange over the last five years was reflective of the progressive and dedicated strategic leadership provided by its board of directors, as well as the company’s ever-intensifying commitment to proactively deliver value to its stakeholders. According to him, having successfully consolidated past gains and taken on new frontiers through the operationalisation of a budding integrated FMI Group across the full value chain of the securities market – execute, clear and settle – the Group is poised to enhance efficiencies in FMDQ’s markets to the benefit of market participants. He noted that it was in view of the resolute affirmation of the FMDQ entities to influence and promote sustainable development in the Nigerian financial market, one which is in alignment with global standards, that a new identity was unveiled. “As it commences its second lustrum, FMDQ as a one-stop FMI Group with a platform to execute, clear and settle transactions in the Nigerian financial markets, remains committed to collaboratively deliver innovative and forward thinking solutions to the market,” he said. Registered by the Securities and Exchange Commission, Nigeria (SEC) in 2012, FMDQ operates the largest securities exchange in Nigeria, with an annual turnover of circa $560 billion over the last four years, as well as the only central clearing house, positioned to deliver end-to-end clearing and settlement services that will help enhance the integrity and eliminate the inherent risks to bilateral and multilateral trades settlement in the Nigerian capital market. FMDQ, Nigeria’s foremost debt capital, foreign exchange and derivatives over-the-counter (OTC) securities exchange and clearing house, offering, amongst other world-class services, an efficient platform for the registration, listing, quotation, noting, trading, order execution, post-trade and trade reporting of fixed income, currency and derivatives products, remains resolute in its goal to keep challenging norms and aims to continue to strive in its pursuit to empower the financial markets to be innovative and credible, in support of the Nigerian economy. The company achieved 22 percent increase in turnover in financial year 2018 with its sales revenue settling at N182.62trillion (about $512billion). Trading activities covered its three main business lines of fixed income, currency, and foreign exchange activities. The company’s consolidated profit before tax rose to N7.21 billion in 2018, significantly surpassing the N349.76 million recorded in 2017. Chairman FMDQ Securities Exchange Plc, Dr. Joseph Nnanna, at the 7th AGM, said the performance could also be attributed to the successful commencement of activities of FMDQ Clear Limited. He noted that FMDQ OTC Exchange experienced a 58 per cent growth in its securities admission, which was 78 in 2018, compared to 50 admitted in the previous. “In 2018, the total value of the securities listed was N1.027trillion compared to N236.87billion in 2017.” On the 2019 outlook for the OTC market, the FMDQ Chairman believed that the successful establishment of its wholly-owned central clearinghouse (CCH) subsidiary, FMDQ Clear, in 2018 the Company will focus further on strengthening further the clearing and settlement franchise operationally and strategically, and enhance its readiness to operate a full-fledged central counterparty (CCP) in 2019. He noted that 2018 was the year in which FMDQ consolidated its business offering, by extending it from just the provision of a trading venue for execution, to the clearing and settlement spectrum of the securities transaction cycle. Special needs services company Endeavour Industries' collapse leaves employees without homes, tasks
Disability services company Endeavour Industries' collapse leaves workers without homes, jobs
Posted
Workers and residents of collapsed Hunter Valley disability services company Endeavour Industries are distraught over the loss of their home, community and livelihood.
Next month, 131 workers from the company in Cessnock will be without a job, with 87 of those working with a disability.
Thirteen current and former workers who are also housed by Endeavour are set to lose their homes, unless an eleventh-hour saviour comes forward.
A community-owned project, Endeavour was known for its commitment to disability services within the Hunter region, with its main business a laundry service in Cessnock.
When administrators took over in June, the company had a five-person board in place but has had seven CEOs in the past five years.
Endeavour was formed as a workplace for the disabled by a Cessnock parents and friends group in 1965, and by late 1968 an official entity, Endeavour Industries, was created.
In 1969, Endeavour had its first official premises, the laundry at Edgeworth Street which remains today.
About 50 years later, the company is in ruins after going into voluntary administration.
A report by the administrator obtained by the ABC showed the company placed itself under significant long-term financial pressure, after a series of speculative investments.
The report also pointed to a failure to prepare for the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
"Hourly rates provided by NDIS are extremely low compared to previous funding by the NSW Government, affecting profitability of businesses such as Endeavour," the report said.
The report also highlighted risky financial deals made by Endeavour in 2012 and 2013.
They included purchasing an ultimately unused block of land and a failed olive tree farm.
A former Endeavour employee said the company only ever sold around "a couple of hundred dollars' worth of olives", despite years of maintenance and upkeep.
The olive trees, which were gifted to Endeavour, were later found to be unsuitable for the site and were eventually discarded.
The administrator's report also showed a software development company was suing Endeavour for nearly $1 million over a failed software deal.
Workers, residents 'distressed' about uncertain future
"We just want to know who's going to take us, and what's going to happen to us", said Sally*, a worker at the laundry.
"It wasn't as if we weren't getting enough work," she said.
Most of the 87 Endeavour workers who will be without employment from November 9, were driven to and from the laundry facility to complete their duties by the company.
Efforts by the administrator Rapsey Griffiths to secure the future of the laundry business have so far proven unsuccessful.
Local businesses have been approached to see if any were willing to take on the facility.
Rapsey Griffiths also offered support by holding disability employment expos at the laundry, and parent and carer forums.
For the residents, many feared for the future.
June*, one of 13 residents housed by Endeavour, said the prospect of losing her home was frightening.
"We try to tell ourselves that we will be okay, but we just don't know, we just can't understand how this all just went so wrong," she said.
The villas went up for auction this month and the property was passed in following a vendor bid, the result of which the residents had no idea of until a day later.
The sale of the property may prove to be a challenge, with the villas purpose-built for disabled accommodation.
Rapsey Griffiths released a statement stating it had continued to inform the residents about any new developments on the sale of the property.
A spokeswoman said the administrator had little influence over a future buyer's plans.
"Looking ahead, ongoing leases will be a matter for the incoming purchaser, it is important to note that tenants have certain rights under the existing leasing arrangements," she said.
The beginning of the end
The ABC understands when the company posted a loss of more than $2 million in 2014, the board of directors changed the constitution to start being paid for their roles.
Changes were made so that members of the board were paid more than $20,000 each a year, while the chairman of the board was to be given double that amount.
The report from the 2013/14 financial year showed wages increased by $1.13 million and contributed to an overall loss of $2.16 million.
June said she wanted answers from the company about what went wrong.
"Nobody has ever said sorry to us about this, no one has put their hand up to be accountable."
Endeavour Industries was contacted for comment but referred the ABC to the administrator.
*Names of workers have been changed to protect their identity.

Do Polski napływają nowe marki hotelowe
Poza stolicą, segment hotelowy najszybciej rośnie w Krakowie i Trójmieście. Krakowskie zaplecze hotelowe, liczące dziś 12 tys. pokoi, w dwuletniej perspektywie wzrośnie o ponad 2,5 tys. pokoi.
Po otwarciu w Gdańsku największego w Trójmieście, hotelu Radisson Hotel & Suites z 340 pokojami, wchodzącego w skład kompleksu Deo Plaza nad Motławą, tamtejszy rynek liczy prawie 7 tys. pokoi. Nowe obiekty, które mają zostać otwarte do końca 2022 roku dostarczą zaś około 1,7 tys. miejsc noclegowych, podaje Walter Herz.
Warszawa
Od kilku miesięcy w Warszawie funkcjonuje Motel One Warszawa Chopin z 333 pokojami. To pierwszy obiekt tej marki w Polsce. Moxy Poznań Airport, położony w bezpośrednim sąsiedztwie Portu Lotniczego Poznań-Ławica, oferuje 120 pokoi.
Kupiec Poznański, będący jednym z najbardziej rozpoznawalnych budynków w mieście, wzbogaci się natomiast o nową funkcję - hotel z sieci Marriott. Obiekt pod marką AC by Marriott zaoferuje około 150 pokoi, restaurację, bar oraz powierzchnie konferencyjne. Ma zostać otwarty w 2022 roku.
Nowe hotele w kurortach
Nowe hotele rosną też w polskich kurortach. Sieć Radisson podpisała umowy franczyzowe na hotele : Radisson Resort Szklarska Poręba, Radisson Resort Kołobrzeg, Radisson Blu Ostroda Mazury Lakes, Radisson Blu Sopot, które łącznie z Radisson RED Warsaw i Radisson RED Kraków dostarczą na nasz rynek ponad 1000 pokoi.
W Kołobrzegu między ulicą Kasprowicza, Kołłątaja i Kościuszki powstaje też czternastokondygnacyjny hotel Baltic Wave z 468 apartamentami, panoramicznym basenem typu infinity-edge, krytym kompleksem basenowym, strefą spa&wellness, barem i kawiarnią widokową, restauracjami i centrum konferencyjnym.
270 pokoi zaoferuje natomiast czterogwiazdkowy hotel marki Hotels&Preference Luxury. Będzie to pierwszy obiekt sieci Hotels&Preference w Polsce.
W Szklarskiej Porębie pod koniec minionego roku otwarty został hotel Platinum Mountain Hotel & SPA. Pięciogwiazdkowy obiekt oferuje 147 pokoi, salon dr Irena Eris Beauty Partner, przestrzeń konferencyjną oraz jeden z większych w kurorcie, kryty basen i basen zewnętrzny w kształcie naturalnego stawu.

Poza stolicą, segment hotelowy najszybciej rośnie w Krakowie i Trójmieście. Krakowskie zaplecze hotelowe, liczące dziś 12 tys. pokoi, w dwuletniej perspektywie wzrośnie o ponad 2,5 tys. pokoi.
Po otwarciu w Gdańsku największego w Trójmieście, hotelu Radisson Hotel & Suites z 340 pokojami, wchodzącego w skład kompleksu Deo Plaza nad Motławą, tamtejszy rynek liczy prawie 7 tys. pokoi. Nowe obiekty, które mają zostać otwarte do końca 2022 roku dostarczą zaś około 1,7 tys. miejsc noclegowych, podaje Walter Herz.
Warszawa
Do dyspozycji gości będzie w nim około 150 pokoi.
Hotel nowej marki z segmentu life style planuje również wprowadzić Orbis. Zlokalizowany w sercu Warszawy, przy ulicy Brackiej hotel TRIBE Warszawa Bracka zaoferuje 113 pokoi, bar i restaurację, zaplecze konferencyjne i strefę fitness.
Inwestor zamierza postawić sześciopiętrowy budynek w pasie zieleni między ulicą Smolną i alejami Jerozolimskimi w Warszawie, nieopodal ronda de Gaulle’a.
We Wrocławiu, w którym według danych Walter Herz, do dyspozycji podróżujący jest ponad 5 tys. pokoi hotelowych, planowane hotele przyniosą łącznie ponad 2 tys. pokoi.

W miejscu wyburzonego, słynnego hotelu Silesia w ścisłym centrum miasta stanie natomiast Nova Silesia. Cała inwestycja obejmować będzie dwa czternastokondygnacyjne budynki biurowe, które przyniosą 30 tys. mkw. powierzchni i siedmiokondygnacyjny hotel ze 150 pokojami.
Sieć Vienna House u zbiegu ulic Sokolskiej i Piotra Skargi otworzy natomiast w Katowicach swój drugi hotel. Czterogwiazdkowy Vienna House R.evo z 203 pokojami łączył będzie funkcje hotelu z apartamentami na dłuższe pobyty.
Poznań
W Poznaniu przy ulicy Zielonej w pobliżu parku Chopina powstanie z kolei pierwszy w naszym kraju hotel sieci Occidental, należącej do hiszpańskiej Grupy Barcelo.
Pod koniec zeszłego roku Polski Holding Hotelowy otworzył zaś w mieście pierwszy w Polsce hotel marki Moxy, należący do sieci Marriott International, największej sieci hotelarskiej na świecie. Moxy Poznań Airport, położony w bezpośrednim sąsiedztwie Portu Lotniczego Poznań-Ławica, oferuje 120 pokoi.
Kupiec Poznański, będący jednym z najbardziej rozpoznawalnych budynków w mieście, wzbogaci się natomiast o nową funkcję - hotel z sieci Marriott. Obiekt pod marką AC by Marriott zaoferuje około 150 pokoi, restaurację, bar oraz powierzchnie konferencyjne. Ma zostać otwarty w 2022 roku.
Nowe hotele w kurortach
Nowe hotele rosną też w polskich kurortach. Sieć Radisson podpisała umowy franczyzowe na hotele : Radisson Resort Szklarska Poręba, Radisson Resort Kołobrzeg, Radisson Blu Ostroda Mazury Lakes, Radisson Blu Sopot, które łącznie z Radisson RED Warsaw i Radisson RED Kraków dostarczą na nasz rynek ponad 1000 pokoi.
W Kołobrzegu między ulicą Kasprowicza, Kołłątaja i Kościuszki powstaje też czternastokondygnacyjny hotel Baltic Wave z 468 apartamentami, panoramicznym basenem typu infinity-edge, krytym kompleksem basenowym, strefą spa&wellness, barem i kawiarnią widokową, restauracjami i centrum konferencyjnym.
270 pokoi zaoferuje natomiast czterogwiazdkowy hotel marki Hotels&Preference Luxury. Będzie to pierwszy obiekt sieci Hotels&Preference w Polsce.
W Szklarskiej Porębie pod koniec minionego roku otwarty został hotel Platinum Mountain Hotel & SPA. Pięciogwiazdkowy obiekt oferuje 147 pokoi, salon dr Irena Eris Beauty Partner, przestrzeń konferencyjną oraz jeden z większych w kurorcie, kryty basen i basen zewnętrzny w kształcie naturalnego stawu.

DTA dunks on blockchain hype saying for every use there is a better alternative
Australia’s Digital Transformation Agency (DTA) has formed a view on blockchain following the agency receiving AU$700,000 in May to take a look into it.
“Blockchain is an interesting technology that would well worth being observed but without standardisation and a lot of work to come — for every use of blockchain you would consider today, there is a better technology — alternate databases, secure connections, standardised API engagement,” Digital Transformation Agency chief digital officer Peter Alexander told Senate Estimates on Tuesday.
“Blockchain: Interesting technology but early on in its development, it’s kind of at the top of a hype cycle.”
Alexander pointed out that although blockchain can be used in low trust environments, the government wants to have trusted relationships and know who it is interacting with.
In Tuesdays’ hearing, the DTA said it is working with a number of agencies that are examining blockchain’s use: The Department of Home Affairs is looking into applications in freight monitoring and using smart contracts for duties and tariffs; parts of Treasury including the ATO and ASIC are looking at its use in settlements and payments; and IP Australia is conducting a trial into using blockchain to handle food providence.
DTA CEO Randall Brugeaud said in May that it is looking into the use of blockchain for Centrelink welfare payment delivery.
“Our plan is to look for use cases across the Commonwealth with an initial focus on the welfare payment delivery system, then working with our digital service standard, we’ll conduct user research with a view to having a prototype by the end of next financial year,” Brugeaud said at the time.

Speaking on Tuesday, Alexander detailed how the system would work.
“When someone might receive a welfare payment or a balance … where someone would be allocated a certain amount of money, and be able to access that for various purposes — used for some purposes, not used for others — the smart contract, the programmable currency, can release that fund for a particular purchase, and say no for another without having an intervention,” he said.
In its examination of blockchain, Alexander said the Australian government was at a similar level of blockchain maturity as other progressive governments, and noted where the hype surrounding the technology was coming from.
“I think it would be fair to say a lot of big vendors, and technology vendors, are pushing blockchain very hard, they see sales opportunity in it,” Alexander said. “So internationally, most of the hype around it is from vendors and companies, not from governments, or users and deliverers of services who are saying ‘blockchain is the solution to our problem’.
“It’s not that we don’t trust any of the vendors — that would be an unfair characterisation — we trust the vendors, but note that the motivation is generally sales and making revenue.”
Earlier in the hearing, Brugeaud said the DTA would begin rolling out digital identity pilots in the coming weeks.
“The first pilot will allow to acquire a government-issued digital identity, and a Tax File Number entirely online,” Brugeaud said.
“This will reduce a month-long, partly analogue process, to a less than 30 minute fully digital process.”
In August, the DTA decided to take the hosting element of its digital identification play, Govpass, in-house and ended the contract with cloud services provider Vault Systems.
Last week in its annual report, DTA revealed non-corporate Commonwealth entities spent a total of AU$1.2 billion on IT and digital initiatives in 2017-18.
ZDNet reported in May that 14 of the then 80 IT projects it was overseeing were being “closely” monitored, labelling the projects from the Bureau of Meteorology, Department of Human Services, Department of Education, Department of Finance, Department of Defence, Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, Bureau of Statistics, Department of Veterans Affairs, Federal Court Australia, and the DTA itself as requiring “engagement”.
Getting on the agency’s “engage” list means the project, already exceeding AU$10 million in government expenditure, is either highly complex, has a wide community reach, or the DTA has highlighted a declining confidence in delivery.
