i have to admit, i can't see a picture of a penguin anywhere without thinking of this fic! it is truly a masterpiece, fandom classic.

Um, I was going to write one limerick per chapter for this fic, but then my keyboard exploded all over Chapter 2, and here we are with seven. Er, enjoy!

Far beyond any peng's ken, Kororā chose Pono, a hen. "As a goddess," said she "I snub biology." They made an egg. Trouble flew in. One week! Only one they could stand. Then Apo said Pono was banned From raising the chick. She was "weak, slow, and thick." Their seizure forced Pono's sweet hand.* She fought for her egg, her star-child, But her body, indeed, was too mild. Her death brought rage-grief To the Mother. "YOU THIEF. You walk now! My gift is defiled." Kororā, heart-broken, sky-bound Where she waits, for a hatchling's small sound. While the quiet egg sleeps, Pono's body she keeps 'Til a new Aumārire is found. *flipper, I know.

JJ takes a deep swig from his bottle, the bitter tang of beer mingling with the salty air of the marsh. He leans heavily against the wooden railing, eyes fixed on the horizon where the sun is just beginning to peek above the earth, heralding the dawn of a new day. In a few short hours, he will be leaving the familiar confines of Outer Banks, embarking on a two-day journey across the country to California.

The thought alone is enough to send a shiver down his spine. To say he isn’t frightened would be a lie. The idea of adventure calls to him — the promise of hidden treasures, the mystery of werewolves, the thrill of protecting his friends, and the intoxicating rush of adrenaline. Yet, amidst the excitement, a part of him yearns to remain, to cling to the safety and comfort of home.

His friends are his anchor, his constant in a sea of chaos. The thought of losing them is unbearable. They’re always dancing on the edge, and JJ feels the constant pressure to keep them safe. It’s like he’s the only thing standing between his friends and a world full of threats. But even with his tough exterior, JJ knows he can’t be everywhere at once; danger has a way of popping up when you least expect it. High school was a battle he barely made it through, so the idea of tackling college? That’s a whole new level of game. He’s painfully aware of his own struggles, and the last thing he wants is to be the new guy in town, fumbling around while everyone watches and whispers. It’s enough to make anyone nervous.

Lost in his thoughts, JJ barely registers the gentle pressure of arms encircling his waist from behind. He turns within Kiara’s embrace, their lips meeting in a kiss that speaks volumes more than words ever could. A smile graces his features, a silent testament to the depth of his love for her.

A Room of One's Own

"A Room of One's Own" by Virginia Woolf explores the world of female novelists, emphasizing the importance of financial independence and personal space for women to freely express their ideas.

I personally enjoyed a lot her reflexions about both sexes, and how she talks diferently about men and women, and their diferent grade of dificulties in order to make themselves a name in the novelism world.

I also liked a lot her references to some of the most famous and important female autors, with whom without their work and constant dedication, we, women, woudn't be where we are now in the literary world.

I give it 4 stars, because there were moments of confusion and deviation from the main topic, making it challenging to follow at times, although I think we can blame It on the writing style from back then.

Nevertheless, it's a book with valuable reflections that every women should read at least once in their life.
