New Zealand beat Pakistan by six wickets
Mark Chapman went out and did what he had been threatening all series when the stakes were at their highest. The 28-year-old scored an unbeaten 104 off 57 balls, chasing down 194, in a breathtaking display of magnificently clean hitting against some of the best T20 cricket bowlers to stun Pakistan. Even though New Zealand led Pakistan by 2-0 after two games, it was the second-highest total ever scored against Pakistan in T20 matches. It also means that the series ended in a tie. It is additionally New Zealand's 100th T20I win, one that will invest wholeheartedly in a spot in New Zealand T20 fables. When they arrived in Pakistan from halfway around the world and only had one practice session under their belt when the series began, few would have given them hope that they could accomplish this. The fact that their team was depleted, with eight first-team players absent due to IPL duty, made the task even more difficult. Even on the day, it appeared especially unlikely that New Zealand would win when Imad Wasim struck to remove Daryl Mitchell, leaving them at 73 for 4 at the halfway point.
The tables are turned by Chapman and Neesham.
Chapman finished with 290 runs in a series despite only being dismissed once because Pakistan hadn't yet taken him into account. He hit Faheem Ashraf for 14 in the 11th over to put Pakistan on notice that the game and the series were not over yet. They should have heeded the warning, but they were powerless against Chapman's assault. Chapman destroyed every Pakistan bowler, right-arm and left-arm, as James Neesham's unbeaten 45 off 25 was a more than adequate supporting act. 71 runs were scored in the subsequent five overs, and New Zealand won the match. Chapman kept attacking even though he was getting close to a hundred now. Shaheen Shah Afridi had some luck against him; Before Afridi dropped him off his bowling on 98, Shadab Khan dropped a straightforward catch. He was able to complete the 100 he so richly deserved by sprinting back for two. At this point, it was a run-a-ball condition for the last two overs, and for Chapman here, it was a cakewalk. With four balls remaining, a small push into the on side sealed the deal, giving Pakistan a reality check and a bloody nose before the five-match ODI series starts later this week.
The trio of strikes
Pakistan may have started well with Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, but the bowlers, much like New Zealand has done in almost every match this series, came back strong. In the final powerplay over, Babar was the first to fall when he misjudged an on-side slog. Mohammad Haris was eager to make up for a while when he came in with two balls left on the powerplay. However, he misread Blair Tickner's off-cutter and attempted to lap over a short fine leg from his first delivery. Before coming on, Ish Sodhi dispatched Saim Ayub with a wrong'un for another duck after taking a straightforward catch. A promising Pakistani start was ruined after the sudden loss of three wickets for one run in five balls.
Pakistan's strange slowness and Rizwan's score of 98
It's maybe boorish to criticize a T20 hundred, yet it's impossible to stay away from it. Since 2021, Rizwan has been one of Pakistan's most potent matchwinners and a run machine in Twenty20 Internationals. He started with the format-appropriate truculence, hurtling along even as Babar struggled and wickets fell at the other end, despite a relatively lean run by his standards. He started, batted through the middle of the innings, and probably should have scored a century. T20 centurions, on the other hand, are like presidents in that you probably don't deserve to be one. Rizwan's century might have come naturally if Pakistan had continued to attack the death overs in the same manner as any team that maximizes its run-scoring potential. All things considered, he picked relative wariness, and the last couple of balls were completely equipped towards getting Rizwan those last couple of runs instead of giving Pakistan each additional run they could scratch. Faheem Ashraf took just the single pitch rather than the two that were on or off the penultimate ball because Imad was run out trying to scrape a bye despite being the batter in better hitting form. Rizwan didn't even make it to three figures, but more so because he only scored one boundary out of his last 13 balls. Chapman, on the other hand, barely seemed to notice his score when batting on 98. Afridi had only one ball left and might have been drained for a solitary or seen off. The batter, on the other hand, attempted a high-risk jab to the on side, but the ball flew straight up. Even though Chapman scored the century and his team won, the score didn't matter.
Shaheen Afridi's opening score
Oh, how we've been missing out. Afridi went the whole series without recording a first-over wicket, but on Monday in Rawalpindi, it seemed as though his most alluring talent had never been absent. The match started with a first-ball wicket, albeit it wasn't exactly the inswinger that ripped through a right-handed batsman's defense. Instead, it drifted away from left-handed batter Tom Latham, who sliced it politely to Shadab at the point. He was prepared for the one that angled away, kissed the outside edge, and carried through to Rizwan after a couple of proving inswinging deliveries to Will Young. Afridi returned after New Zealand fell behind by two runs in an over, but only to witness the Nos. 5 and 6 of New Zealand make an incredible comeback.
Conclusion
New Zealand won against Pakistan in a T20 match by six wickets, with Mark Chapman leading the way with an unbeaten 104 off 57 balls. This was despite the odds being against them, with their team being depleted and having only had one practice session before the series began. Although Pakistan started well with Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, the bowlers came back strong and limited their scoring. Rizwan scored 98 but picked relative wariness, and the last couple of balls were completely geared towards getting him the last couple of runs instead of giving Pakistan each additional run they could scratch. Chapman kept attacking even when he was close to a hundred and destroyed every Pakistan bowler. It is also worth noting that this win is New Zealand's 100th T20I win, which is a significant milestone. Read the full article

Rishabh Pant Enjoys First Nets Session In Indian jersey After 16 Months, Gears Up For T20 WC
Star Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant had his first nets session for Team India after at least 16 months, ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup opener against Ireland, scheduled for June 5.
The ICC T20 World Cup will be played in the West Indies and the USA from June 1 to 29. The Men in Blue will also play Bangladesh in their only warm-up game on June 1 at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.
Pant, who returned to competitive cricket during the Indian Premier League (IPL) this year following a life-threatening road accident in December 2022, will be making his much-awaited return to the blue colours of the Indian jersey.
In the recently concluded IPL 2024, Rishabh's team Delhi Capitals finished in the sixth spot with seven wins, seven losses and 14 points and failed to move to playoffs. He scored 446 runs in 13 matches at a strike rate of over 155 with three half-centuries and emerged as the team's top run-getter.
Pant looked in great shape while practicing, having lost a lot of weight, and sported a much leaner look ahead of the tournament.
In a video posted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Pant said, "This is one thing I missed a lot (practicing with the Indian team and playing for them). Getting back on the field with the Indian jersey on, it is a different feel altogether and this is something I missed a lot. I think seeing the teammates and meeting them again, spending time, having fun with them, enjoying having conversations, really enjoying it."
Pant said that playing in the USA is a different prospect and it has opened a whole new channel for the sport.
"We are used to playing in certain countries but this is a different prospect. It has opened up a different channel for sport because I feel cricket is growing around the world and getting in a country like the US and getting the exposure here would be nice for cricket as well as USA cricket I guess," he said.
He said he is getting used to the conditions and the sun shines a little brighter here in the US and there are new pitches.
"So just getting used to conditions over here and let us see how it goes. Hopefully, I make it count and make it more better from here," he concluded.
In seven T20 WC matches and five innings, he has scored 87 runs at an average of 21.75 across 2021 and 2022 editions, with the best score of 39.
India will start their T20 World Cup campaign on June 5 against Ireland at the newly constructed Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.
Meanwhile, the most-awaited blockbuster clash between India and Pakistan will take place on June 9. They will later play tournament co-hosts USA (June 12) and Canada (June 15) to wrap up their Group A matches.
In the tournament, India will be aiming to end their ICC trophy drought, having last won the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013. Since then, India has reached the 50-over World Cup final in 2023, semifinal in 2015 and 2019, the title clash of the ICC World Test Championship in 2021 and 2023, T20 WC final in 2014, semifinals in 2016 and 2022 but failed to secure a big ICC trophy.
India will be aiming to win their first T20 WC title since they won the inaugural edition of the tournament back in 2007 in South Africa. In the last edition held in Australia in 2022, India lost to England by 10 wickets in the semifinals.
India squad: Rohit Sharma (c), Hardik Pandya (vc), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (wk), Sanju Samson (wk), Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohd. Siraj

Mumbai Indians vs Kolkata Night Riders: Who Will Win Today’s IPL Cricket Match?
The excitement among cricket fans is at its highest point as the Mumbai Indians (MI) will try to make maximum runs against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in today's IPL cricket match. Both teams are ready to give their best and secure an important win. KKR wins to move to the 1st position and MI wins to move higher in the points table. You will understand some important factors that might affect the result of the match in this blog.
Rohit Sharma vs Sunil Narine in IPL Matches
One of the most amazing battles of the match will be between MI captain Rohit Sharma and KKR's ace spinner Sunil Narine. Narine has an interesting record against Rohit Sharma, as he took Rohit’s wicket nine times in T20 matches. Rohit, on the other hand, will be curious to handle Narine's spin and lead his team to victory.
Rohit Sharma is known for his amazing strokes and unique timing. He is popular as “Hit-Man” for the Mumbai Indians. However, when it comes to facing Sunil Narine, Rohit's journey has been a bit difficult. Narine's mystery spin has often troubled the stylish right-hander. His unique bowling style has proved to be tough for MI.
Cricket fans are waiting to see their battle once again in the IPL in the evening. The next match is a showdown for them at Wankhede Stadium. Let’s wait for today’s cricket match and make predictions after analyzing prediction tips from the experts.
In the Spotlight: KKR’s Venkatesh Iyer and MI’s Romario Shepherd
KKR's Venkatesh Iyer has been an amazing performer for his team, both with the bat and the ball. However, his form is not interesting this season, and he will be looking to make a strong impact in today's match. MI's Romario Shepherd is known for his pace and accuracy. He will be a key player for the Mumbai Indians. His performance with the ball could prove important in determining the result of the match.
Important Stats that Decide the Win of the Teams
Major statistics could play an important role in deciding the winner of today's match:
Sunil Narine has an amazing record against Rohit Sharma. He has taken the wicket of Rohit Sharma 9 times in T20 matches, that helped KKR beat MI.
Rohit Sharma's ability to handle left-arm spinners will be tested, as he has struggled against them this season.
Mumbai Indians have a powerful record against KKR at the Wankhede Stadium, as they have beaten KKR most of the time at this venue.
Pitch and Conditions at Wankhede Stadium
Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai sees dew in the evening. But it is not as visible as it has been in Chennai. Chasing runs are always a favorable option in Mumbai due to the lower visibility of dew. 26 out of 42 matches have been won by the team in the chase since IPL 2021 and 7 out of 11 matches since IPL 2023. Mumbai has an extremely humid temperature. This is the reason bowlers find it difficult to bowl better in the second innings.
Conclusion
Today's match promises to be an exciting encounter as both teams try to secure an important win. KKR holds the advantage with Sunil Narine's amazing record against Rohit Sharma. On the other hand, the Mumbai Indians will enter the stadium focusing on their strong performance at the Wankhede Stadium. It is a clash between the two strongest teams and cricket fans can expect an exciting and thrilling match in the evening. The Ultimate Test
There is a quote displayed in bold letters in the Philippe Chatrier Court at the French Open 'Victory Belongs To The Most Tenacious'. This was amply demonstrated on Sunday when the tenacious and arguably greatest ever player Novak Djokovic won a record breaking 23rd Grand Slam title. Unfortunately there was little tenacity or fighting spirit in evidence a few hours earlier at the Oval, as India capitulated to a 209 run defeat to Australia. The match never really lived up to its billing as the 'Ultimate test'. The large Indian contingent at the ground must have felt really let down at the manner of defeat. There were a few embers of hope burning in the minds of fans when Kohli and Rahane resumed batting after a confident 71 run stand. However from the time Kohli fell to an expansive drive outside the off stump, it was clear that visions of another famous win in the manner of Brisbane 2021 were overly optimistic. Thereafter wickets feel in quick succession with no resistance displayed. Gavaskar did not hide his disappointment at India's performance, after all he was part of the team that successfully chased a 400 + target at Port of Spain in 1976. One also recalls Gavaskar's magnificent 221 in 1979 at the same Oval ground, as India fell agonising short by 9 runs chasing a mammoth 438 with the match ending in a draw. Unfortunately there were no such heroics this time. India failed to take advantage of the subcontinental weather, and a true wicket which aided both batting and bowling in equal measure. The decision to bat first appeared wrong in hindsight, especially based on how Head and Smith attacked the bowling on the 1st day. Why the world's number 1 bowler in rankings Ashwin was dropped for the 6th test in a row in England is inexplicable and extremely unfair to a modern day legend who must be wondering what more he needs to do to be picked consistently overseas. It is ironic that England have recalled Moin Ali who has not played any red ball cricket in a while for want of better spin options, whereas someone like Ashwin with 474 wickets to his credit is often left cooling his heals. Even if the match result might not have changed, there is no doubt that Ashwin's inclusion would have made the Indian attack far more potent. Ashwin would also make a great captain and we wish that like Kumble he gets a chance to lead the team prior to retirement.
Rahane transferred his IPL form to test cricket and should be given credit along with Jadeja and Shardul for keeping India in the game after everything seemed lost during the 1st innings. Australia were truly deserving winners and look in great shape for the Ashes. Boland was the stand out bowler and his style is tailor-made for English conditions. Head and Smith look set to torment the English bowlers throughout the summer. Green and Carey add great depth to the team.
As we look forward to the new ICC test cycle, the Indian selectors must blood some youngsters during the West Indies tour against relatively weak opposition. Good performances in the Ranji trophy should be rewarded and young players suited for test cricket should be identified early and given the right opportunities. The health of test cricket depends to a large extent on India doing well and therefore one hopes that the longer form of the game is given due importance by the BCCI. Whatever be the attractions of the T20 leagues, there is nothing more satisfying than watching a good test match, which will always be the pinnacle of the game.

Tata IPL2023
The 2023 mega auction of the IPL took place in Bengaluru in December. The most expensive player was Sam Curran, bought by Punjab Kings for ₹18.50 crore (US$2.3 million), the most-paid player in the history of the league. Ahead of the auction, all the IPL franchises published their list of retained players in November 2022. Some of the big names that were retained in the 2023 edition include MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Sunil Narine, Glenn Maxwell, Andre Russell, and Jasprit Bumrah. Gujarat Titans are the defending champions.
Tata Group retains as the title sponsor of IPL 2023
The IPL Governing Council announced the new IPL season after the IPL 2023 auction was completed. Aside from the promise to be bigger, better, and more enthralling, Tata Group was announced as the new title sponsor for the Indian Premier League. Tata Group replaces Chinese mobile manufacturer Vivo as the title sponsor for the IPL 2022 and 2023 editions. In 2018, Vivo came on board as the title sponsor till 2022; however, due to tensions at the border, the contract with Vivo was paused in 2020.
New rules in Tata IPL 2023
The BCCI stated that it "will preserve IPL's position at the forefront of innovative cricket and continue the growth of the T20 format" in a memo announcing the new umpire signal and rules of the Impact Player.
The BCCI has informed franchises that following the toss, as was recently implemented in SA20, captains may select their playing XI. Before the toss, the captains were required to declare the starting Eleven. Expanding the DRS's scope to include wide balls and no balls is another new regulation. The rules of the game specify that "a player may also be permitted to review any decision made by on-field umpires concerning wide or no ball."
The Biggest Change in This IPL is the introduction of Impact Player. This is how the rule will play out. According to the BCCI, “The captain will identify the impact player to the umpire, and the umpire will signal in the manner as depicted in the above image indicating that the Impact player is being introduced. Teams can name four substitutes, or impact players, in their squad for a match in addition to my playing 11. One of these may be used as a substitute during the match.
It adds, "The Impact Player can be introduced (i) before the start of the innings; or (ii) after completion of an over; or (iii) in case of a batter, at the fall of the wicket or the batter retiring at any time during the over (as provided in Clause 1.8 (iv) below). The bowling team can also get an Impact Player during the fall of the wicket, but that Impact Player will not be permitted to bowl the remaining balls in that over if the wicket has fallen mid-over."
Changed Format- 10 clubs divided into two groups
IPL 2023 Format: The IPL 2023 edition will follow the same format as last year, but the venues will change. The IPL 2023 format details are as follows:

The 2023 mega auction of the IPL took place in Bengaluru in December. The most expensive player was Sam Curran, bought by Punjab Kings for ₹18.50 crore (US$2.3 million), the most-paid player in the history of the league.
