Mossberg 590 Retrograde Shotgun Review
The pump on the Mossberg 500 Retrograde is found to be a fun, light and easy-to-shoot gun. It was as simple as getting rifles. Mossberg also introduced two 590 Retrograde models other than the 500 model. The models are highlighted by capacity and barrel length. There is a 8 + 1 model with a 20 inch barrel Mossberg 590 Retrograde. There is also a 6 + 1 with an 18.5 inch barrel. The 590 Retrograde barrel comes complete with a heat shield, which gives it an aggressive look and proves to be quite practical, sending lots and lots of bottoms. The safety of this smooth barrel cuts off a brilliant silhouette, and it looks safest like a safety shotgun, but is separated from the rails and the MOLLE. The 590 Retrograde is old-school cool, but it wouldn't be a problem to keep up with polymer- and rail-inch rifles.
Keeping it light
The shotgun should have relatively light weapons that are quick to maneuver and easy to maneuver. 590 Retrograde definitely checks these boxes. The 7.25 pound gun is not as light as the 500, but is lighter than many tactical shotguns.
An important note here is that it is 590 instead of 590A1 (which is also offered in the Retrograde setting). The barrel is a normal diameter, not a heavy wall variant. The trigger group is also made of polymer instead of metal, such as 590A1.
The front view is a simple gold pearl. It works well enough, and that's the view most gun users are used to. The 590 Retrograde feels quite light and well-balanced, even if the full-load tube has an 8-layer 2¾-inch buckshot. The length of the 20-inch barrel may seem a little long to some, but it's a compromise of greater power. The 590 controls are very ergonomic. The safety is placed on the touch, so it is ambiguous and natural if you grasp and detach with your thumb without breaking the grip. The pump release is also easily available.
The pump itself is sleek, easy to reach and has a boot. The downside is the famous Mossberg pump slope. It has nothing to do with the function, just what you'll notice when you drive the weapon alongside a stronger shotgun. The Mossberg forend adds scalability to the Mossberg platform for home defense, sporting or on duty use. To know more about Shotgun forend visit the website https://www.shotgunforend.com/ .

Lc smith shotgun parts
They are much more difficult to assemble and disassemble than most guns are.
think twice before you proceed, you REALLY need to know what you are doing to work on these. If you go ahead with it, do NOT try to force the top lever back in place using the screw to align with the hole in the plate when you reassemble- you'll easily damage relatively fragile parts and parts are getting VERY hard to find. this is the kind of thing where you'll end up shipping the gun away in pieces to get it fixed by someone who knows what they are doing. This is not for the faint of heart or the inexperienced, and I suspect since you had to ask the question of how to remove the stock that you are likely in over your head and should seek help from a QUALIFIED gunsmith (there are few left who know how to work on an LC). You'll likely need to drill a hole in the stock and make a tool to push the tensioned top lever back in place. This is easy to remove, VERY hard to put back in. *** VERY Important note- top lever is under significant tension from the top lever spring. You should then be able to remove the stock. Open the top lever and remove that screw. You'll screw it up, and it won't fit right again. Remove the screw holding the trigger plate and the small screw holding the top lever in place***. Take the firing pins out (if they didn't fall out already). You may have to poke a wire through from the other side to get the plate loose if it's "glued" in with old oil and crud. Higher grades and different custom woods are available.Remove the accessible screws on the sidelocks. This is a small family shop, one of only a few left doing replacement stocks. The "loading port" on these is properly called the ejection port.
You load the magazine tube from the bottom, sporting shotguns hold 3, fighting/defensive shotguns hold 5-9, tactical competition guns hold a lot, I've seen 13+.
It is important to note- these numbers usually include the round in the chamber. So the actual magazine tube actually holds 2-12 rounds.
To properly hold the gun, you place your off-hand on the forend, out under the barrel. And your dominant hand on the wrist of the stock, also called the pistol grip. With a semi automatic or break-action, that's it. With a pump action you must rack the slide every time you shoot. This is also called running the action.
Now onto the Minutiae:
If your character is running a pump action, save time and make it a Remington 870 or Mossberg 590. There's several types of each of these patterns, but they are the massive bulk of all pump actions with many millions in circulation. I myself am a Mossberg shotgun armorer, with my master armorers cert coming up early next year.
Semi-automatics have more variance. Benelli makes some of the best, as does Beretta. I'd give them a Benelli M2 or M4, or a Beretta 1301. These are the current gold standard semiautomatic shotguns. Though you could also give them a Remington V3 or Mossberg 930.
Break actions are less of my expertise. You'll need to make the call if you want to be specific, I can't help that much though. If it's supposed to be high end, go with Italian.
Ammunition!
There's three major types, smallest to largest:
Birdshot- ranging in size from number 12, at .05"/1.27mm to BB at .18"/4.57m, birdshot usually lacks the energy to instantly kill. It leaves a big, nasty, horrifically bloody wound. The most common size is #8. Recoil is there, but mild.
Buckshot- Ranging from .24"/6mm to .36/9mm, buckshot is the bread and butter of defensive loads.
It kills almost instantly, the amount of blood is actually typically pretty small, and it usually doesn't over penetrate. YouTuber GarandThumb has videos shooting simulated tissue if you want to get super accurate with the potential damage. The most common is 9 pellet 00 buck. If you want to flex your characters gunsmarts, give them eight pellet. It patterns tighter. Recoil is brisk, but manageable.
Any shot has a maximum effective range of about 40 yards/meters.
Slug- imagine, you want a rifle, but only have a shotgun? Well! At .69" (nice) or 17.53mm, the slug is here to help!
They weigh up to 1.25oz or 35g, carry the energy of a high speed crash, and can kill even if you're wearing body armor due to pure energy transfer. recoil is distinctly punishing.
How To Fire Shotguns

Disclaimer : I am NOT an expert in this field, and I got these information from the internet, so I can’t guarantee that these tips are 100% accurate. If I made a mistake, please let me know! Also, this post should be used for WRITING PURPOSES ONLY
1. The types and structures of a shotgun
There are three types of shotguns; pump- action, semi-automatic, and break-action shotguns.
• Pump-action shotguns :
• Semi-automatic shotguns :
• Break-action shotguns :
2. Loading a shotgun
• Pump-action and semi-automatic shotguns
There are two ways to load these types of guns; you can load three to five shell ammunitions by inserting them into the gun’s loading port. Alternatively, you can load the gun and eject the used shells at the same time by opening the sliding shell-ejecting port. However, this method only allows the user to reload one shell at a time.
• Break-action shotguns
Only allows the user to load one shell at a time, but it reloads quicker. To reload, flip the break-level on top of the back hand grip. The gun will hinge open to allow a shell to be inserted. After that, firmly snap the gun close again.
3. Firing a shotgun
• Holding the shotgun correctly
The shotgun should always be held with your non-dominant hand on the stock, and your dominant hand gripping the space behind the trigger. Take not that eye dominance is more important than hand dominance, though, because the eyes are the one doing the aiming. When you’re about to fire, pull the shotgun towards your shoulder to reduce pain while shooting. Your feet should be shoulder width apart and your knees should be flexed slightly.
• Developing aiming accuracy
Align your eye evenly with the sight of the shotgun by keeping your cheek tight to the stock. If you’re aiming a moving target, shoot ahead of the target, not at it. You also need to know your shotgun’s shooting range and make sure you’re a proper distance from the target.
• Firing the shotgun
Once your shotgun is aimed, flip the safety off and squeeze the trigger as if giving the gun a firm handshake. Never close your eyes while shooting, because you need to focus on the moving target. Boom. Yay, you just fired your shotgun :D

$84.99 GG&G MOSSBERG 500 / 590 FOREARM FLASHLIGHT MOUNT
A Rock Solid Flashlight Mounting Platform The new Mossberg 500 / 590 Forearm Flashlight Mount, another GG&G tactical shotgun accessory. Over the last six months of 2009, this was the number one item that our customers called and asked us to manufacture and bring to the marketplace. They informed us that it was nearly impossible or far too expensive to install a tactical flashlight on their never let them down workhorse, the Mossberg 500 and 590 shotguns. Our New Product Design Team came up with a unique shotgun flashlight mount that provides a rock solid, but tactically sound mounting system. The GG&G Flashlight Mount kit includes a unique mounting bracket that securely attaches to the factory forend tube using the factory forearm retaining nut. The kit also includes a new factory Mossberg synthetic forearm precision cut to clear the flashlight mounting bracket, a MIL-STD-1913 rail and an assembly tool. To install, simply remove the factory forearm from the slide assembly and install the new forearm, mounting bracket and MIL-STD-1913 rail. A flashlight mounting ring like the GG&G Flashlight Ring can be used with a flashlight, or the end user can opt to use a flashlight with an integral mount. As shown in the above photos, the rail and flashlight are located at the three o' clock position, giving strong right shooters the tactical advantage at night. The Mossberg 500 / 590 flashlight mounting bracket is precision machined from rugged 4140 chrome moly steel and manganese phosphated matte black per mil-spec. The MIL-STD-1913 rail is CNC machined from 6061 T6 aircraft grade billet aluminum alloy and Type III hard anodized matte black per mil-spec. As you can see, the Forearm Flashlight Mount has been designed for the rigors associated with professional use. TIP: We suggest using an LED flashlight bulb to reduce the possibility of bulb failure.

Us Lucky Few Part 1
FADE IN:
EXT. CONVENIENCE STORE - NIGHT
An empty stretch of highway.
A lone police cruiser sits in front of a convenience store, its lights flash.
A truck with a smoking engine and Texas plates sits next to it.
OFFICER DAVID PARKS, (25) steps out of his cruiser then presses the mic to his radio.
Three people argue inside of a convenience store.
PARKS (into radio) 1532, dispatch we're 97, code two.
DISPATCH (O.S.) 10-4, 1532.
OFFICER LANCE HAWKINS, (21) is next to him.
HAWKINS Should we call for backup, sir?
Parks turns to Hawkins and points at him.
Parks's radio goes off.
PARKS Watch. Let me do the talking. Anything looks weird, call it. No need to call backup for this.
DISPATCH (O.S.) (radio) All units, be on the lookout for a white cargo van used in a robbery...
The radio goes off behind them.
Parks lowers his radio.
PARKS (CONT’D) Damn thing.
HAWKINS 10-4 sir.
INT. CONVENIENCE STORE - NIGHT
The two walk in and immediately see two people. The older one, JOHN STEVENS, (late-40s) wears a confederate flag hat with a jacket and jeans.
JOHN Look pal, see-
Stevens pulls out a Triple-A card. Panel 3
JOHN (CONT’D) I just gotta get me a tow truck so I can bring my truck to the shop. Please, I gotta just borrow your phone.
The STOREKEEPER, (late-50s) points toward the door.
STOREKEEPER No, you leave!
The younger one, JACK STEVENS, (early-20s) wears a jacket and jeans and has long hair.
JOHN God damn brown motherfucker...
John's fists clench up.
JACK Dad, let's just go outside, we'll-
The two officers watch this for a moment.
The door closes behind them and a "DING" can be heard as the door's sensor goes off.
Hawkins points at the door.
HAWKINS That sensor's a little late.
Hawkins chuckles and grins.
Parks glares at Hawkins, then looks at the two.
The storekeeper looks at Hawkins and points at the other two.
STOREKEEPER These men, right here sir! I do not allow racists in my store!
JOHN Look pal, we were just looking to borrow a phone. No trouble here. Hey, slant eyes.
Parks shoots him a grin.
John's hands are in his pockets.
PARKS Step back from the counter sir, hands out your pockets.
Parks looks over at John and motions toward him.
John takes his hand out of his pockets then cocks his head in confusion at Parks.
PARKS (CONT’D) John, was it?
JOHN Yeah.
PARKS How about you and your son step outside and talk with me? Hawkins, check the security footage.
Hawkins nods.
EXT. CONVENIENCE STORE - NIGHT
John takes a sigh.
PARKS You alright?
John massages his eyes.
JOHN Just needed to borrow a phone man, phone's dead and the battery in my truck died. He just went on spouting about how I was racist. Christ, people these days gettin' butthurt over lil' symbols like these. They were just words, too. I wasn't trying to cause any trouble.
John takes off his hat.
JOHN (CONT’D) Long night. We were trying to make it to New Mexico when the truck broke down.
PARKS I see. Sorry to even ask, but you guys got weapons on you?
John motions over to the shotgun mounted on the truck.
JOHN And then mine and my son's carry pieces.
PARKS Alright, thanks. Let's just get you guys outta here as soon as we can.
JOHN Hey officer?
Parks looks back.
JOHN (CONT’D) You ain't too bad for a slant.
Hawkins steps back out.
Parks chuckles.
PARKS Thanks.
The two walk back to the cruiser.
HAWKINS Yeah, he apparently called the cops and freaked out seeing the hat, he said a few other things too, called him a few names.
PARKS They get violent?
HAWKINS Not that I saw, sir.
With a sigh, he massages his eyes, then thumbs his radio.
PARKS (into radio) 1532, dispatch.
DISPATCH (from radio) Go ahead 1532.
PARKS (into radio) Requesting a tow truck at the Chevron our location. We're gonna be code four here.
He glances at Hawkins and motions for him to follow him.
PARKS (CONT’D) Alright sir, we're gonna be across the street doing traffic if you need us, just wait out here for the truck. Anything happens, just give us a holler or call.
JACK Thanks, officer.
Parks and Hawkins get back into their cruiser.
INT. POLICE CRUISER - NIGHT
The two wait across the street from the gas station. Hawkins clocks traffic with a radar gun.
HAWKINS So, how'd I do?
Parks jots something down on a paper and stares at the passing vehicles.
PARKS That's a three.
HAWKINS Come on, just a three?
PARKS You should've handled that faster.
HAWKINS Why didn't you?
Parks shoots him a grin.
PARKS Was waiting for you to figure it out. The guy's truck engine was smoking, he had no reason to be robbing the place or causing any kind of trouble for us. Pay attention, rook.
HAWKINS Right. Well it's not another two which is good.
Hawkins clocks traffic with a radar gun.
HAWKINS (CONT’D) You were military though? A few of the guys at the station said you were in Afghanistan for a few years.
Parks glances over at the radar gun and takes a deep breath.
PARKS I don't want to talk about it.
HAWKINS That's really cool! You know I was gonna join, but then they wouldn't take me because-
Parks takes a sigh of annoynace, then massages his eyes.
PARKS You gave 'em a reason not to.
Parks takes out his phone and checks it.
He goes into his messages.
PARKS (TEXT) (CONT’D) Will be home soon, shift ends in two hours. Love you sweetheart!
HAWKINS (voice trails off) ...Of a surgery when I was nine.
Parks puts the phone in his pocket, and continues to watch cars pass.
HAWKINS (CONT’D) Pretty quiet today, huh?
Parks moves his head and glares at Hawkins.
PARKS I'm gonna make you eat those fucking words.
A van screams past the two-
HAWKINS Holy shit! Did you see that?!
Parks picks up the car's radio.
PARKS You called it, not me. Light 'em up.
Hawkins floors the accelerator and speeds up behind the other car.
Hawkins turns on the siren and Parks grabs the radio.
The siren blares as the car begins to pull over.
PARKS (CONT’D) (talks into radio) 1532, dispatch, be advised performing TC on reckless driver- Interstate 10, past Marker 13. Vehicle is a white Ford Transit, license plate Charles, Boy, One, Frank, Yellow, Frank, Paul.
DISPATCH (over radio) 10-4, 1532, standby.
The two prepare to exit the vehicle.
HAWKINS Cover.
PARKS Contact.
EXT. DESERT HIGHWAY - NIGHT
The two get out and approach.
Hawkins crosses toward the passenger's side.
Parks crosses toward the driver's.
Parks looks at the bullet holes on the side of the van.
Parks pulls his handgun out.
PARKS Hawkins!
The passenger's side door opens before they can even reach the car.
A rifle barrel peeks out the van's door.
Two gunshots ring out.
The rounds pass Parks's head. He makes his way back to his cruiser. Parks fires his
Hawkins fumbles with his gun as he takes it out and shoots back.
PARKS (CONT’D) Hawkins, behind the cruiser!
Parks gets behind his cruiser. Multiple muzzle flashes come from the driver's side of the car.
Hawkins takes fire on his side. He goes to reload a magazine and drops it on the ground in his fear.
Parks continues to fire and with his free hand keys his radio.
Hawkins picks the magazine back up and loads it in. He fires back and gets back into the fight.
PARKS (CONT’D) (into radio) 1532, DISPATCH! SHOTS FIRED AT OUR LOCATION!
Hawkins continues to fire back.
Parks looks over.
PARKS (CONT’D) GET THE RIFLE!
Hawkins doesn't hear him.
PARKS (CONT’D) Hawkins! Rifle!
Hawkins shakes as he reaches into the car and pulls out the patrol rifle.
Hawkins now crouches next against the door of the cruiser. He fires at the muzzle flashes in the car.
DISPATCH (from radio) 10-4, 1532, any available units 1532 is requesting assistance on Highway 10 past marker 13.
Parks watches a figure run out and fires two rounds before his handgun goes dry.
PARKS Hawkins, cover fire!
Hawkins continues to fire at the car in front of him.
Parks takes a knee behind the door of his cruiser and reloads his handgun.
A concussion grenade from the other car lands on the cruiser's windshield, in between both of their firing positions behind the squad car doors.
PARKS (CONT’D) Hawkins get back!
Parks tries to reach for it, then-
Silence.
Parks is in a daze, but opens his eyes.
Hawkins's rifle sits on the ground. With his eyes open, he fumbles to reach for it.
A silhouette pops up.
Parks sees it, then looks back at Hawkins.
Hawkins drops to the ground next to the cruiser, a spatter of blood exiting the other side of his skull.
Parks reaches into the car and takes his Mossberg 590A1 out.
Rounds fly through the windshield. Parks ducks under the dashboard as he fumbles with his 12 gauge.
Parks thumbs his radio again.
PARKS (CONT’D) (into radio) OFFICER DOWN, WE HAVE AN OFFICER DOWN! SUSPECT JUST THREW A FUCKING GRENADE!
IND VOICE 1 (O.S.) FUCK YOU WEY!
The fire continues as Parks watches one charge him with a knife.
Parks fires a round into his chest and just watches him come at him.
He places his hand on the forend of the shotgun as the man starts to swing his knife at him.
Parks kicks him back, chambers a round, and fires as the man's intestines hang out.
PARKS What the fuck?!
IND VOICE 1 (O.S.) You just fucked up homie.
He trains his weapon once more and tries to chamber the next round.
Click.
The man stabs Parks in the shoulder.
IND VOICE 1 (CONT’D) FUCK...!
Parks cries out in pain as the man pulls the knife out and takes another swing.
Parks shoves him with his shotgun and backs up and in a frantic rush tries to pull another shell of of his sling, only to drop it.
Parks only falls as another bullet flies out the back of his shoulder.
His shoulder bleeds. Another bullet flies out the back of the same shoulder.
Parks falls down, stiff.
IND VOICE 1 (CONT’D) Oh shit!
The man looks up. Gunshots ring out as the rounds land in the back of their car.
IND VOICE 2 Let's go, let's go man!
Parks looks looks over his side.
John is with his son and holds a shotgun. His son grabs Parks's shotgun, loads it and fires into the back of the assailants' car.
Parks holds his shoulder as he feels himself fade in and out of consciousness. He grabs the tourniquet off his belt and tries to wrap the wounds on Parks's shoulders.
John has a still look of fear in his eyes as he applies the tourniquet.
JOHN Shit, shit shit!
PARKS ...I'm gonna die...
John reaches into Parks's pocket and pulls out his phone.
JOHN Hey, Parks stay with me now man! Don't you go dying on me! You're gonna be fine! Come on you yellow bastard, stay awake!
The police lights begin to show themselves on John's face.
JOHN (CONT’D) They're just right here, they're right here officer! HEY!
The lights flash across his face as John waves first responders over.
Parks blacks out.
INT. EMERGENCY ROOM - NIGHT
Parks is wakes up as he's taken into the emergency room.
IND NURSE 1 Subject is David Parks, 28-years old, male, blood pressure...
Parks blacks out again.
