INS Vikramaditya the First Indian Aircraft Carrier to Get Operational by the End of January 2023
INS Vikramaditya, India’s first aircraft carrier is going to join the Karwar Naval base by the end of January 2023. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to address in March the Combined Commanders Conference, where the hulk of battleship will be the center of attention. Sea trials will begin soon along with that for INS Vikrant, its successor leaving an impact in the Indo-Pacific waters. INS Vikramaditya is weaponized with Russian MiG-29K fighters onboard.
As for INS Vikrant, a landing of maritime LCA and test case scenario is also being considered this year. With US F-18 and French Rafale-M, a decision to bring forth 8 trainers and 26 maritime strike fighters for INS Vikrant will also take place. The Indian Navi submitted to the Defence Ministry the trial reports for the two operational aircraft carriers. The Modi government will assess the performance of the battleships and then finalize its call.
Both the carriers will remain on the western coast of India until the huge war machines find a place on a jetty at the eastern seaboard of Vishakhapatnam. But the aircraft carriers may be accommodated on a jetty at Kattupalli Port in north Chennai as the Indian Navy is planning to lease it with another jetty at Campbell Bay of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. INS Vikramaditya and INS Vikrant will empower Indian national security.
Plans are in motion as the strike forces will go well beyond the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal to India-Pacific and even further. The Indian Ocean could be patrolled by three aircraft carriers of Chinese Navi by 2025, the two war machines will play in defense and deepen cooperation with PLA Navy and other major naval giants in the region.
The Indian Ocean is already being mapped by the PLA strategic surveillance vessels including the five ingress straits and 90-degree ridge to South China for maritime operations in the future. India has also been offered by Beijing naval cooperation for the littoral states surrounding the Indian Ocean. They have a proposal to gift the country off-shore patrol vessels the same that was offered to Seychelles. INS Vikramaditya and INS Vikrant will help India to secure the eastern seaboard from Africa to the Australian west coast.

Kheloexch Insights: CSK Managing Dhoni's Workload, Explains Fleming
Amidst speculation about MS Dhoni's fitness and his batting position in the Chennai Super Kings lineup, coach Stephen Fleming clarified that Dhoni's lower batting position is a strategic move to manage his workload and prevent any risk of injury. Fleming emphasized that Dhoni's role is crucial in the team, particularly in the final overs, where he can make a significant impact with his aggressive batting and exceptional wicketkeeping skills.
Responding to criticism from Harbhajan Singh, who suggested that CSK should prioritize including a bowler instead of Dhoni at number nine, Fleming reiterated that Dhoni's workload management is a priority for the team. He explained that Dhoni's recovery from knee surgery necessitated careful management of his workload to ensure his long-term fitness and availability.
Fleming also dismissed any speculation about Dhoni nursing an injury, affirming that Dhoni is fit to play and contribute effectively in his designated role. He emphasized Dhoni's importance in providing tactical advice to the team's new captain and his ability to perform under pressure in crucial moments of the game.
Meanwhile, Gujarat Titans expressed dissatisfaction over what they perceived as preferential treatment towards Chennai Super Kings during practice sessions at the Narendra Modi Stadium. They raised concerns about CSK being allowed to practice range hitting from the center of the ground, contrary to IPL guidelines, which permit range hitting only on the eve of the match.
According to IPL practice session guidelines, range hitting is restricted to the day before each match, with specific conditions for its conduct. Despite objections raised by Gujarat Titans management, a Gujarat Cricket Association official stated that similar privileges were extended to other teams, including GT players like Shubman Gill.
In summary, CSK's decision to manage Dhoni's workload, coupled with concerns raised by other teams regarding fair practice session regulations, underscores the intricacies and challenges of maintaining balance and fairness in the IPL. As the tournament progresses, teams like CSK and GT will continue to adapt and strategize, aiming for success in the highly competitive cricketing arena. Get Ready for the Political Pulse: Modi's Tamil Nadu Surge & Kejriwal's Legal Battle
As we inch closer to Phase 1 of the Lok Sabha elections, the political arena is heating up with fervent campaigning and legal battles. Here's the latest scoop:
Modi's Multi-State Moves: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is making waves with his strategic campaign moves. On Tuesday, he kicks off his schedule with an electrifying election rally in Balaghat district, Madhya Pradesh, marking his second visit to the state in just three days. But that's not all – Modi's Tamil Nadu tour is also in full swing, emphasizing the critical Coimbatore constituency, which BJP eyes to secure this time. With a roadshow planned in Chennai, Modi aims to rally support for BJP candidates Tamilisai Soundararajan and Vinoj P Selvam in South and Central Chennai constituencies, respectively. His itinerary also includes public meetings in Vellore and Mettupalayam, rallying behind NDA allies' candidates. Coimbatore remains a focal point for Modi, reflecting the significance the BJP attaches to this region.
Legal Showdown: Kejriwal's Bail Plea: Meanwhile, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal finds himself entangled in a legal tussle. The Delhi High Court is set to deliver its verdict on Kejriwal's plea challenging his arrest in a money laundering case linked to the alleged Delhi excise policy scam. Currently under judicial custody in Tihar jail, Kejriwal's fate hangs in the balance as the court's decision looms. His challenge extends beyond arrest to contesting the remand in the Enforcement Directorate's custody. The legal battle underscores the high stakes and intense scrutiny surrounding political figures, particularly during election season.
Nationwide Campaign Trail: As Modi and Kejriwal grab headlines, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is making his presence felt in Assam. Addressing a public meeting in Lakhimpur constituency, Shah lends his support to BJP incumbent MP Pradan Baruah, vying for a third consecutive term. The day doesn't end there – Shah gears up for a lively roadshow in Tinsukia town, boosting BJP candidate Sarbananda Sonowal's campaign in the Dibrugarh seat. The electoral landscape is alive with activity as parties vie for voter attention and allegiance.
As the countdown to the Lok Sabha elections continues, the political drama unfolds with each passing day. Stay tuned for more updates and analysis as the nation braces for a crucial electoral showdown.

MK Stalin counters PM over Katchatheevu row, ‘What steps have you taken?’
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, hitting back at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his allegations against DMK in the Katchatheevu controversy, questioned whether the central government has taken any steps in the past ten years to reclaim the island from Sri Lanka.
PM Modi, on Sunday, alleged that the Congress government, under former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, "callously gave away" the strategic Katchatheevu island to Sri Lanka and accused the party of "weakening" the country's integrity and interests. A day later, he said, new details "have unmasked DMK’s double standards totally" and claimed that MK Stalin’s party has done "NOTHING to safeguard Tamil Nadu’s interests”.
In response, the DMK chief questioned PM Modi and mentioned that he had demanded the Prime Minister to retrieve the island. He also asked whether PM Modi had made any demands in this regard when he visited the head of the Sri Lankan government.
"When the BJP came to power, what did it say in the SC regarding Katchatheevu? They said that we would have to engage in a battle with Sri Lanka if we wanted to get the island back. In the last ten years, how many times has Modi travelled to Sri Lanka? Did he ever demand from them that Katchatheevu should be returned to us? When he met the head of the state of Sri Lanka, did he tell them that Katchatheevu belongs to India? He didn’t mention Katchatheevu on all those occasions," Stalin said.
"The PM who remembers very clearly the events that occurred during the time of Nehru and Indira Gandhi, I want to ask him if he remembers something that happened just two years ago. When he came for an event in Chennai, I presented several demands, and one of the first demands I made was to retrieve Katchatheevu. Do you recall this? Did you even read the memorandum I gave?" the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister added.
He also stated that raking up the Katchatheevu issue has now backfired on the BJP. “This issue has turned against them. They put their hands on the beehive, and now they are trying to escape from it,” he mentioned.
Stalin also claimed that the External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, when he was the foreign secretary, in an RTI reply in 2015 claimed Katchatheevu is not a part of India and the party is bringing up the matter due to election.
He also asked the Prime Minister who is “crying over Katchatheevu now” had ever said a word of condemnation against Sri Lanka for “harassing and attacking” fishermen from India.
Meanwhile, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman accused DMK of spreading a false campaign on Katchatheevu and for making "irresponsible" statements on the issue. She said the late M Karunanidhi, who was DMK president and Tamil Nadu chief minister at the time in the 1970s, was aware of the then-ruling Congress's move but did not object, she said.

261 Dead, 900 Injured After Horrific Three-Train Crash In Odisha
Coromandel Express Accident: The train was going from Howrah to Chennai, rammed into the derailed coaches of the other train, which was going from Bengaluru to Kolkata
New Delhi: At least 261 people were killed and around 900 were injured in a horrific three-train collision in Odisha's Balasore, officials said Saturday, the country's deadliest rail accident in more than 20 years. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the train accident site and meet with injured people at hospitals in Cuttack, his office tweeted.
The crash involved the Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express, the Shalimar-Chennai Central Coromandel Express, and a goods train.
The accident saw one train ram so hard into another that carriages were lifted high into the air, twisting and then smashing off the tracks. Another carriage had been tossed entirely onto its roof, crushing the passenger section.
"Everything was shaking and we could feel the coach toppling," Sanjay Mukhia, a daily wage worker travelling to Chennai on the Coromandel-Shalimar Express, told NDTV, showing his injuries.
According to another survivor, severed limbs were scattered over the ripped metal wreckage.
"I was sleeping when the train derailed. Some 10-15 people fell over me. When I came out of the coach, I saw limbs scattered all around, a leg here, a hand there...someone's face was disfigured," the survivor said.
"The rescue operation has been completed and now the focus is on restoration work," Railways Spokesperson Amitabh Sharma said.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said a high-level committee will be set up to investigate the train crash.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has declared one-day state mourning in view of the horrific train crash.
Mr Vaishnaw has announced compensation of ₹ 10 lakh for the families of those who have died, ₹ 2 lakh for those seriously injured and ₹ 50,000 for those who sustained minor injuries in the accident.
PM Modi too expressed his distress over the accident, and announced a compensation of ₹ 2 lakh for the family of the dead and ₹ 50,000 for the injured from the PM's National Relief Fund (PMNRF).
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee tweeted she is monitoring the situation continually personally with the Chief Secretary and other senior officers.
48 trains have been cancelled, 39 diverted and 10 trains have been short terminated due to the accident, which happened on the Howrah-Chennai main line in the Kharagpur division of the South Eastern Railway.

England and New Zealand will play their World Cup opener in Ahmedabad
The Men's 50 Over World Cup will begin and end in Ahmedabad in 2023. The first match is expected to be between England and New Zealand on October 5, with the final taking place on November 19 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera.
According to reputable sources, India's first match would be against Australia, most likely in Chennai. The game against Pakistan will be played on October 15, which is a Sunday, much like the final on November 19.
After receiving formal clearance from all parties, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is anticipated to release the schedule soon, most likely after the current Indian Premier League (IPL). The BCCI, as the host, has the final word on the dates and sites.
In other developments, sources can reveal that Pakistan has agreed to travel India for the World Cup, despite the ongoing impasse and uncertainty surrounding the Asia Cup, but it is thought to have expressed some reservations.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is reported to be concerned about playing the major game against India in Ahmedabad, which might be one of the reasons why Najam Sethi, the PCB's chairman, visited the ICC office in Dubai during the previous few days.
Having agreed in principle to come to India for the quadrennial championship, the PCB chief seems to be asking for a few changes to the venues of its matches as a face-saver. However, it is learnt that the PCB has agreed to play the final in Ahmedabad, should its team reach the title clash.
As per the tentative schedule drawn so far, Pakistan will play its games in Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Chennai and Bengaluru. The BCCI has provided venues in the South Zone for the most Pakistan games with Chennai, which has a record of being a peaceful host with a very sporting crowd, getting a few extra games.
Apart from Ahmedabad and the three south hubs, the designated sites are Kolkata, Delhi, Indore, Dharamsala, Guwahati, Rajkot, Raipur, and Mumbai, with Mohali and Nagpur absent from the list.
The Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai is set to host a semifinal. Each side will play nine league games, which implies that most, if not all, centres will see an India game.
The World Cup will include ten teams and 48 games, with India, England, Australia, New Zealand, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Bangladesh having qualified for the tournament, with South Africa being the most recent direct entrant.
The final two berths will be determined by a qualifying tournament in Zimbabwe in June-July, in which two past champions, the West Indies and Sri Lanka, will compete among the Netherlands, Ireland, Nepal, Oman, Scotland, the United Arab Emirates, and host Zimbabwe.

India to Host Cricket World Cup League Matches in Oct-Nov, Schedule Out After IPL Ends
Since 2019, it will be the first time that the arch-rivals India and Pakistan will face each other in the ICC 50-over World Cup that is going to take place in October-November. For now, the hopes are set on the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, as it is the largest one in the nation. Because many fans are anticipated to travel to India from overseas for the match, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has chosen to hold the high-stakes match at the Ahmedabad stadium.
The Narendra Modi Stadium is the biggest in the nation, with 1 lakh seats. If everything goes according to plan, the 50-over World Cup will begin on October 5 and the locations have been narrowed down to Delhi, Guwahati, Nagpur, Trivandrum, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Rajkot, Lucknow, Kolkata, Dharamshala, Indore, and Mumbai. But only seven of these locations will actually host league games in India. If India makes it to the final, Ahmedabad might be the only place where they play two games.
Due to security concerns, Pakistan may end up playing the majority of its games in Bengaluru and Chennai. Eden Gardens in Kolkata is another potential location. The majority of Bangladesh's games might possibly be held in Guwahati and Kolkata to make travel easier for supporters from the neighboring nations. The BCCI intends to get done with matches in the southern regions of the country before November's first week because October and November are the monsoon season.
In addition to Pakistan, BCCI also spoke with the management of the Indian squad to get their views on the matches. According to insiders, the Indian team requested that matches against New Zealand, England, South Africa, and Australia be played at stadiums that support spinners. They informed the board that the Indian cricket team like slow pitches, as has been the case for the past few years, they want to maximize the home advantage.
Throughout the last few years, the Indian team has excelled at home on slow tracks. Because of this, the team management had asked that whenever the schedule was being created, the Indian team play top teams on slow pitches. According to a BCCI source, they desired to benefit from playing at home. The BCCI has already received the state units' wish list, according to sources, but only the BCCI will decide where the matches will be played.
However, they noted that there's a good chance that India's game against Australia will take place at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai while matches against South Africa, England, and New Zealand will take place in other venues with slow pitches. Before the start of the 50-over World Cup, the BCCI has set aside more than Rs 500 crore to renovate stadiums all around the nation.
Following recent criticism regarding the state of stadiums, Jay Shah (BCCI secretary) said that the board will upgrade its infrastructure, prioritizing easy access, clean seats, and clean restrooms. This is to appeal to fans and to keep the venues prepared for the tournament.
