Advice for aspiring models!

1. Take care of your body! - a good diet and exercise routine is crucial for making it in the modeling industry. There are certain measurements you have to be to become a model and a healthy diet is important to keep your skin clear and healthy.

2. Study fashion! - a good knowledge of fashion is so important if you want to make it as a model. You need to understand the style of the brands that you do castings for. Also agencies will ask you about your favorite fashion brands and brands you would like to work with and if you don’t know any they might not choose to offer you a contract.

3. Apply to agencies! - getting signed to a good agency could make or break your career so it is really important to be careful and get a good agency that is excited about you future career. There are lots of scams out there so never ever sign with an agency that wants you to pay money up front. A reliable agency will not make you pay for anything even walking lessons and test shoots should mostly be free. Take your time to review any contract you are offered and you shouldn’t be rushed or pressured to sign it right away.

4. Practice your runway walk and poses! - you need a good walk to be able to book runway shows and to get into a good agency. Knowing good poses is very important for when you are doing photo shoots. You need to be able to move naturally on camera.

5. Take good digitals! - digitals are the pictures you send to agencies when you apply. They are the deciding factor of if they want to interview you or decline you. You don’t need them to be professional! An iPhone works fine! Wear all black clothes that show off your figure with no makeup and your hair natural. Do simple poses like as if you are waiting for someone on the street. Don’t smile have a “model face”. Take full body, portrait, headshots, and profile pictures. Do it in natural lighting but not direct sunlight.
