writer's blurp: mammon lives rent-free in my brain and that's a-okay he's such a sweetie to the MC both in OG OM and in NB. just wanted to write a short little thing about NB mammon finding comfort in things that have the reader's scent.

It started out as a missing coat or sweater. Something you choked up to just being lost in the abyss of your closet, or left it somewhere not that it was anything you were too sad about losing or being misplaced.

Then the throw blankets, or your favorite throw pillows that you would use at the House of Lamentation when the brothers would pull you into whatever movie or game night, and the ones at Cocytus Hall. Solomon helped you turn over every inch of the Hall, but neither of you had any luck finding them, nor could the brothers help you find your things at Lamentation.

Little things here and there, like pens and notebooks, objects you would use daily. You wondered if your chatelaine was breaking, and you not noticing it, but Solomon assured you that it wouldn't with the enchantment he placed on it for you. Some smaller things as well the occasional ring, or necklace.

It wasn't until you one day received a text from Mammon to come over and please bring something good to eat with your company (totally NOT a bonus he said) since he felt a little under the weather. You found your missing things.

Situated in a safe little spot on Mammon's bed, the very demon dozed off around the little things, but also wearing some of your missing jewelry. Face hidden in your throw pillows and your throw blankets living up to their name of being haphazardly tossed on his person, while he was wrapped up in your sweater.

You could also see some of his brother's things mixed in as well.

A little hoard of his own. A little nest with things that made him feel comfortable and safe. Things that belong to those that are important to him, to people that he loves.

So, as quietly as possible you leave Mammon's room knowing that if he were to wake up and knowing that you saw his little hoard of treasures that belong to those important to him, his little nest of things that brings him comfort he would quickly try to hide all of it.

Once you're back outside of Mammon's room you decide to make something other than the Hell Fire Noodles he likes, opting for something a little bit more easy on the stomach.

Texting to let Mammon know that you will be delayed in arriving, his response is a pouty little emoji, and him appearing by your side a bit later. Hiding his face in your shoulder, mumbling and grumbling while you cook, but sticking to you like glue.

She's smiling at you, she's waving at you, she's beckoning you... But it's not her. Her eyes are green not blue. When you think of that her eyes change, they're green now. You're trying not to look at your reflection anymore. You're trying to ignore that tapping sound coming from your computer, the windows, the mirrors, the water...

i used to draw siebold a lot early on!! i've also drawn wikstrom a few times (mostly in the context of siebold/wikstrom actually) and grant & valerie (also as an extension of drawing siebold)

hmm, let me think... i've drawn a wulfric chibi for the slawcs epilogue. and i've drawn AZ a bunch of times as well (including in the slawcs epilogue also) i'm assuming you're not including malva in this question LOL

i like cassius (the pc guy) a lot so i've drawn him a couple of times but not as much as he deserves tbh

Hands lace themselves together, tenting in front of Serena's features. She would expect no less-- nothing too different from her own reaction, when asking someone with similar unease around pressure-laden social situations. Actual orders aside.

"That... makes sense, though. It is the easiest and least particular order to say when under pressure. But... it could still work out in the long run. If that tastes fine, then you'd expect their teas to be of the same quality, right? So you know for next time."

"Oh by the legendaries. Just the theoretical of this has my heart racing. Okay. Umm.... I- Uhhh..... Are you sure there's no escape? I-I can't let the person behind me go before me?" Oh dear, she can't even remember her usual order now. Give her a minute to think.

"Aaa.... A small black coffee? What I originally went for though... Likely a medium chai tea. If their teas are good. Not to say the cafe doesn't have good tea! But you never really know..."

But, interestingly, most of the artifacts on display from that period are not musical but items of clothing that lang wore. There’s the red and gold brocade jacket she wore on the Ingenue tour; the yellow ball gown that was featured in the video for Miss Chatelaine; a striped shirt seen in the video for Constant Craving; a red, white and black striped jacket she wore at the Junos that year; and the black jacket she wore at the Grammy Awards.

The exhibit also features artifacts like the handmade diorama that was used to create the cover art for the 1987 album Angel with a Lariat and a few of lang’s musical instruments. But Big, Big Love is dominated by clothing, everything from her cowpunk stage outfit from 1985, which featured a fringed-satin shirt and floral skirt, to the bedazzled blue nudie suit she wore in 1990. It’s a reminder that, no matter how impressive lang’s singing voice and talent for genre-hopping may be, she was also an artist who was conscious and in control of her image, allowing her to play with ideas of gender and androgyny and to simply “have a lot of fun with clothes.”

“It was inseparable from the music, it was a whole piece,” lang says. “I came from a performance-art background, so it was definitely as much of the concept as the music. It was to present it as I did with music, which was a hybrid between classic sounds or classic instrumentation but mixed with an alternative mindset. So you’d have a classic country shirt but you’d have sawed-off men’s cowboy boots and a skirt.”

Lang, who spends most of her time in Calgary these days, was aware and had been impressed with the work being done at Studio Bell, which is home to the National Music Centre. She offered to donate or loan some of her belongings to the centre.

“I definitely have a fondness and enjoy looking at those things,” lang says. “But I feel, in some ways, owning that stuff and having to carry it around with me in a way weighs me down, both physically and spiritually. I really feel like I want to share it but not own it.” {x}
