what about cod men with reader who BLASTS music like ayesha erotica, nikki minaj and etc randomly while chilling or has headphones and does that while on field
Ohhhh I think they would probably be all so confused or worried if it happened in the middle of a mission lol, here my thoughts to that scenario:
Tumblr media
When Ghost heard you playing Nasty from Ayesha for the first time on the middle of interrogating someone they captured and kept alive on their mission, he was very irritated. Soap tried to get the new, right information out of the soldier meanwhile you two and Gaz stood in the darker corner, staring at the horrified man as you quietly sang the lines of the song playing over your headset.
,,Damn I'm sorry I blew you off, I was doing lunch with Microsoft. I'm sucking off a C.E.O, if he's not a millionaire then I've got to go~"
,,What the hell?! Y/n quit that singing! What even is that?", Ghost looked disgusted at you, questioning why he was even befriended with you in first place but quick to remember that you're actually his favorite person on earth, except for when you were listening to sich filth. In the middle of a mission. He quickly became used to it though, just told you once in a while to keep it down or put the music off if the operation was in need of your attention. He didn't enjoy the music as it was, the text too vulgar and flithy for his liking, but he couldn't deny that the melodies of some of your songs were quite catchy sometimes. Of course he grew even more annoyed when you and Gaz would play songs together on base and Soap would jump in on it with his ugly singing.
Tumblr media
He didn't knew you were listening to that kind of music. He sometimes heard you playing some songs as loud as you could in your room, but he never understood a thing of what was sang and your door was always locked, as if to keep people out from seeing you dance some kind of risky dance to this music. Oh boy, if he knew.
Emo Boy was suddenly playing. It scared the shit out if Soap, Kyle and yourself even though it was your ringtone.
,,Oh shit! Sorry guys, Mama's calling. Don't wait for me with the movie!", you were smiling at them and quickly picking up and talking to your mum over the phone.
,,Was that-", ,,Emo Boy by Ayesha Erotica?", ,,Oh. My. God. I heard that right?!!?", ,,Yeah...I didn't know Y/n would listen to that type of music Soap!", ,,Me neither Gaz...it's a catchy song though", ,,Oh it really is. Probably why he chose it?", ,,Yeah...you think he's also into other songs of that genre?", ,,Maybe. Are you?", ,,Oh hell nuh. Not me, no no".
Gaz raises a brow at that and smirks. Then they both start laughing. ,,Oh you are so listening to this kind of music man!", ,,Pah, and if I am? You knew the song by name and artist by just a few seconds of melody playing!", ,,Ah yeah you got me there mate heh"
,,Alright guys, I'm back! Let's start this movie night shall we?", you grinned and sat next to Kyle again, who just smiled at you and nodded, reaching for the remote control. ,,Tell me, is that the music you alway listen and dance to in your room?", ,,Uhm yeah, whx Kyle?", ,,...Wanna show me one of those dances someday?", he grinned suggestively and you just giggled at that.
Tumblr media
Oh this man showed you this tyoe of music, actually. He was playing some song from Doja Cat on the radio of the car from his so nicely called "Hype or Horn Me Up" playlist. You were confused at first. The words used in the songs were...interesting. And Soap was dancing and tapping to it like he was in some dance off. It was amusing and fun. Of course his taste in music wore off on you and so it surprised noone on the team when you were running past them on the field, gun in hand while looking as if you had the time of your life, the could hear for a short time the music blasting through your headphones as you went to go for the next kills.
,,I ain't tryna be cool like you hmmhmhmhmm", you sang while aiming to shoot an enemy, the new song coming on another Doja Cat favourite of you and soap. Hitting the target clean in the head you smirked. ,,I'm bitch. I'm a boss. I'm bitch, I'm a boss, I'm a shine like gloss!", ,,Oi yes you are Darlin!", Soap beamed from behind you. Price was just sighing and pinching his nosebridge while Ghost was just standing next to him like an annoyed older sibling.
You guys would play this type of music all around the base, 24/7. All week long. Until Price got so mad he made you do the dishes and gave you one month of cleaning duty. You did in fact not keep it down afterwards and everyone just had to live with it. Some of the younger recruits actually enjoyed it and envied you guys for that, made them feel less stressed and more relaxed.
Tumblr media
Oh boy. Oh. Boy. He nearly died. First time you blasted that music on the car ride to some pub out of town because you guys all got some time off duty? He was thinking about how he could never go to heaven now, or even just into a church. He would perish just standing on the steps of a church. But then he remembered, he wasn't even religious. So that was fine. But then he thought "Why the fuck is this muppet listening to THAT?!!?!?". You currently sat in the driver's seat and danced to S.L.U.T by Bea Miller. Before that a song way worse was playing, Price recalled (it was I Want Your Bite by Cara Cunningham). This one now wasn't too bad. It was quite nice actually. Way more innocent than ghe other one. John was thankful for that, he grew very hot and was all flustered by the other song which made him feel a little uncomfortable.
,,Oh we're nearly there Cap!", ,,Y-Yes. Just...just put the car to a stop yeah?", ,,Whatever you say Captain!", you smiled while the next song came on. ,,Oh my god this one is so good!". Price looked over to you, awaiting something more innocent again like before. He thought wrong.
,,Ride it, slide it, bite, get inside it
Come on, touch my body
I know that you like it, you can't hide it
Come on touch my body
Hotter, bigger, faster, longer, thicker
Come on touch my body!", you sang loud and proud to the lines of Treat Me Like A Slut by Kim Petras. John officially was a tomato now. He loved seeing you having your fun, but this was surely and never will be his kind of music choice.
,,Treat Me Like A Slut, little dirty bitch I love to fuck!", ,,Okayyy I think it's- oh look there's the pub! Get us a good parking lot and then we'll have some fun kid, a'right?", ,,Yes!".
Poor guy always gets all red when he hears some of his boys play such music. And with Soap and you, and occasionally also Kyle, on his team that was a lot of times. But he wouldn't be too mad about it. Just sometimes id you played it too loud or while he was in an important meeting. He did enjoy seeing you all have your fun so he is not too strict with punishments.
Tumblr media
You are playing some pretty filthy, nasty song in your shared house. Ale just came back from grocery shopping, Rudy in tow helping him with the bags. You were wearing just a shirt and boxers while singing to the song, looking through some magazines on the couch and just waiting for Alejandro to be back. He new of your guilty pleasure for those songs, this kind of music. He adored the way you would get all red sometimes when he talked about it to you, but he doesn't judge. He actually listens to songs like this as well. Obviously in spanish. He showed you some in his native language and you enjoyed them, even if you didn't know what was said.
Alejandro would laugh sometimes when you randomly put the music on while you were in a fight. It always made his mood go all the way up hearing and seeing you enjoy this music, especially if you would listen to the spanish ones he had shown you. For him it is no problem. He trusts you with being focused on missions so he allows you to listen to music, sometimes you even listen together over the radio.
The same goes for Rodolfo, but the poor guy would be worried sick if you would start blasting loud music on missions out of nowhere. Give the little guy a warning beforehand so he doesn't shoot you out of shock hehe. He also shows you songs in spanish, some that are not as filthy as yours but have the same kind of energy and he translates them for you.
Tumblr media
Little german/austrian boy listens to filthy music himself. He is the biggest Rammstein fan there is. One of his favourite songs is probably Bück Dich (Bend Over) and Dicke Titten (Big Boobs/Big Tits). He also really enjoys Labyrinth by OOMPH! It's not really filthy with words but the meaning is pretty dirty. It's also a banger like, he was so happy you enjoyed listening to music with him. To that kind of music as well. He really wantes to visit a Rammstein concert with you someday, if you said yes.
He doesn't listen to music on the job though. And because he's your colonel he asked you kindly to not do it either. On the flight to wherever the mission was? Yes of course he will even listen with you to calm his nerves. At the base? Sometimes he even gets Horangi to join you guys, who really hates this kind of music because he heard too much of it in hia home country (he absolutely hates kpop and all the horny people coming with it).
When you showed him some of your favourite artists and they would sing too fast or use words he didn't understand, you would try to translate for him and the most funny german ever. He told you it was fine to try to explain in english but you really wanted to make him happy and maybe even laugh a little when you tried to explain that the person in the song just sang "Ich möchte in deinen Titten ertrinken" (I wanna drown on those tits/boobs of yours). He is so sweet if someone came up and would make fun of you listening to such music, like he would finally use his rank for once and make them regret for ever saying that to you.

Do you agree with the TheGamer's article, Astro Bot Isn't A Celebration, It's A Graveyard?
I have not read the article or played the game, but watching talk about Astro Bot and how it's this "great celebration of Playstation" is absolutely a bummer. Watching Astro Bot get Spike's net and run around catching monkeys in an Ape Escape level feels more like a cry for help than a celebration of anything.
It's Team Asobi saying, "Hey remember when they used to let us create weird, wacky, super creative games? Well they consolidated like eight teams down to just this Astrobot group here, so this is a toast to our fallen comrades."
I'm sure that, to Sony, doing that "made sense," because games like Locoroco or The Last Guardian or Gravity Rush were not hitting the right "sales targets." (A made up number that doesn't mean anything to anyone other than shareholders) So, you restructure, you filter out all but the best and brightest talent, and that's how you get Team Asobi.
But I've been saying it for a while, and so have a lot of other people, that we're back to the same kind of egotistical Sony that launched the PS3 to the sound of dead weight hitting the pavement. Now, that Sony turned the PS3 around towards the end, but that's because they got humbled by the Xbox 360 and had to figure out a way to bounce back.
And then they bounced back right as Microsoft's ego started to humble them and it launched the Playstation 4 into such a huge lead that they're still kind of coasting on that, particularly because instead of bouncing back, Microsoft has just kind of rolled over and accepted their fate. Whatever success they have with Game Pass isn't good enough for them to really swing back at Sony very hard.
So we get this clownshoes company that closes down all of their Japan studios, that launches a VR headset peripheral that's more expensive than the console it's made for, and that same VR headset has no backwards compatibility with older PS4 software even though the console itself does, and then they launch an equally expensive wifi-only remote dock (read: a Wii U Gamepad) for that console, they keep raising their prices in Japan, they launch and then two weeks later shut down a live service game that spent 8 years in development...
And then you look at Astro Bot, brimming with "Remember when Playstation used to be the coolest thing in the world?" references, from Parappa the Rapper to Ape Escape to Shadow of the Colossus, and it's like... yeah, I do remember that, and I can only remember it, because that's not the kind of company Sony is now. This is a party primarily for things that don't exist anymore.
You could call that a graveyard, sure. It's a wake at the very least.

Sony Playstation 5 Hardware Reveal Trailer
Please! like and subscribe to my channel Youtube
The PlayStation 5 (PS5) is a home video game console developed by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It was announced as successor to the PlayStation 4 in April 2019, was launched on November 12, 2020, in Australia, Japan, New Zealand, North America, and South Korea, and was released worldwide one week later. The PS5 is part of the ninth generation of video game consoles, along with Microsoft's Xbox Series X/S consoles, which were released in the same month.
The base model includes an optical disc drive compatible with Ultra HD Blu-ray discs. The Digital Edition lacks this drive, as a lower-cost model for buying games only through download. The two variants were launched simultaneously.
The PlayStation 5's main hardware features include a solid-state drive customized for high-speed data streaming to enable significant improvements in storage performance, an AMD GPU capable of 4K resolution display at up to 120 frames per second, hardware-accelerated ray tracing for realistic lighting and reflections, and the Tempest Engine for hardware-accelerated 3D audio effects. Other features include the DualSense controller with haptic feedback, backward compatibility with the majority of PlayStation 4 and PlayStation VR games, and the PlayStation VR2 headset.
History
Development
The lead architect of the PlayStation console line, Mark Cerny, implemented a two-year feedback cycle after the launch of the PlayStation 4. This entailed regularly visiting Sony's first-party developers at two-year intervals to find out what concerns they had with shortcomings in Sony's current hardware and how such hardware could be improved in console refreshes or for the next generation. This feedback was fed into the priorities for the console development team. In the development of the PlayStation 5, a key issue was the length of loading times for games. Cerny said several developers, including Epic Games' Tim Sweeney, told him that standard I/O speed of hard disk drives was now a limiting factor in pushing game development. Slow data rates placed limits on the size of data being loaded into the game, the physical location of data on the storage medium, and the duplication of data across the medium in order to reduce load times. An important goal was to find ways to reduce loading time, particularly in games that stream or dynamically load new game areas as the player moves through the game world.
Jim Ryan, the CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, stated that Sony had researched the feasibility of a "low priced, reduced spec" version of the PlayStation 5, like what Microsoft had done with its Xbox Series X and its lower-power counterpart the Xbox Series S; and concluded that they believed such consoles do not fare well, becoming obsolete too fast.

i think ive finally figured out why ive been having audio issues in work calls for weeks (when i join a teams call or when someone calls me on teams, sometimes it's fine, but sometimes i can't hear anyone)
i have bluetooth headphones that can function either as "headphones" (audio output only) or as a "headset" (both output and input, using the built-in mic).
i have a separate mic, so i set my audio in teams to use the headphones for output and the mic for input, and i even have the headset disabled in my pc's audio devices to prevent windows from trying to switch to headset input/output.
the problem: my headphones would detect that i'm receiving a call, and decide that call=headset. so the headphones would switch to headset mode. teams and windows would be set to use "headphones" for audio output, but the "headphone" output would be silent because the "headphones" said no, i'm not headphones, i'm a headset. the headset would not receive any audio because nothing was set to send output to the headset, or even recognize the headset at all.
what a mess.
anyway shoutout to this one microsoft community forum thread for being the only place where i could find anyone talking about this issue, and for offering a potential fix (disabling hands-free audio in devices and printers). bless forums where would we be without forums

Tumblr media
By Kate Conger
Mark Zuckerberg said in a Facebook post Monday that Meta had added Dana White, the chief executive of Ultimate Fighting Championship, and two other executives to its board.
Meta is adding Mr. White, a longtime friend of President-elect Donald J. Trump, to the social media company’s leadership amid a series of moves to strengthen its ties to the incoming administration. Last week, the company shook up the top of its policy team, appointing a longtime executive known for his Republican ties as head of global policy. Meta has also donated $1 million to Mr. Trump’s inaugural fund.
In recent years, Mr. White and Mr. Zuckerberg, the Meta chief executive, have bonded over their passion for professional fighting, including mixed martial arts, which Mr. Zuckerberg took up in 2022.
“Dana is the President and CEO of UFC, and he has built it into one of the most valuable, fastest growing, and most popular sports enterprises in the world,” Mr. Zuckerberg said in his post. “I’ve admired him as an entrepreneur and his ability to build such a beloved brand.”
In 2023, Mr. White attempted to broker a cage match between Mr. Zuckerberg and Elon Musk, the billionaire owner of X, Tesla and SpaceX. Mr. Musk, who has become a close ally of Mr. Trump, eventually backed out of the battle, citing an old injury. He claimed Mr. Zuckerberg was at fault for not making himself available to fight later on.
Meta, which owns Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, created three new board seats for the appointments, bringing the total number to 13. Mr. Zuckerberg said the company had also added John Elkann, the chief executive of Exor, a European-based holding company that controls Jeep and Ferrari, and Charlie Songhurst, a tech investor who previously worked at Microsoft and has recently advised Meta on artificial intelligence projects.
“We have massive opportunities ahead in A.I., wearables, and the future of social media, and our board will help us achieve our vision,” Mr. Zuckerberg wrote.
Meta in recent years has begun to manufacture wearable technology, like gaming headsets and sunglasses equipped with cameras. It is also competing in a global A.I. race, launching its own generative system with “open source” code so that it can be freely copied, modified and reused by anyone.
Meta has faced harsh Republican criticism of its content moderation on its social media platforms, which Mr. Trump and others argue amounts to censorship of conservative voices. Some of the people the president-elect has tapped to regulate the tech and other industries have promised to crack down as a result.
In recent weeks, Mr. Zuckerberg met with Mr. Trump at Mar-a-Lago, during which the tech executive congratulated the president-elect on winning the election.

10. PUSHING LIMITS From Traditional Controls to XR: The Transformation of Gaming and 3D Art
User interaction with video games began with the laser guns of Sega and Nintendo. Shooting at TV screens with these control guns, which worked simply and mechanically by detecting light from the screen, provided players with a basic yet engaging experience. Even back then, these devices managed to immerse gamers in the act of shooting within the game.
The next major evolution came with systems like the Nintendo Wii and Microsoft Kinect, which enhanced the interaction between players and games. The inclusion of motion sensors in controllers and cameras capable of detecting body movements allowed the creation of games that could be played using real physical actions.
Today, VR devices have completely transformed the gaming experience, offering not only more realistic controls but also a heightened sense of presence within the game world. Games like Beat Saber and Half-Life: Alyx amplify the excitement of video gaming, taking it to a whole new level.
VR headsets are not just limited to gaming; they’ve also made a significant impact in education, including flight simulations and 3D design training.
The future for this technology looks promising. With the advancement of NPC (Non-Playable Character) AI, players will be able to experience even more dynamic interactions within game environments. The combination of AR with the real world, resulting in XR (Extended Reality), exemplified by devices like Apple Vision, along with tactile gloves and suits that simulate touch and heat, promises to make the gaming experience even more immersive and lifelike.
The future of video games will undoubtedly be vastly different from what we see today. The rapid pace of technological advancement is driving VR into various fields at an incredible rate. The experience of playing Resident Evil in VR is completely different from playing it with traditional controllers. The sense of fear and horror is much more intense in VR because you interact more directly with the environment and the game itself.
Tumblr media
A widely used application of VR and XR is in educational simulations for arts and skills that are difficult and expensive to teach in real-life scenarios. One prominent example is flight simulation for both military and commercial airplanes, where the entire experience of a flight is recreated in a virtual cockpit. This allows aviation students to have a virtual yet highly realistic experience, helping them practice in a safe and controlled environment.
Another example is Formula 1 driving simulations. Given that accidents involving these cars can cause millions of dollars in damages, this technology enables drivers and enthusiasts to experience the thrill of racing at maximum speed in a virtual setting. Interestingly, simulation technology has advanced to the point where global Formula 1 simulation tournaments are now held. Real-world teams, such as Ferrari and Red Bull, have their own teams and drivers participating in these competitions.
This highlights how technology and gaming have evolved—and will continue to evolve—to become integral to various industries and sports, pushing boundaries and creating innovative experiences.
Tumblr media
On the creative side, Apple Vision and other XR devices are empowering artists, particularly those working in 3D design. With the ability to work in an immersive 3D space, artists can now design and manipulate projects at real scale. This has opened up new opportunities for collaboration, allowing multiple designers to work together in real-time on the same virtual project. This collaborative potential could be the future of design, where teams can seamlessly interact and refine their work without physical limitations.
One of the significant advantages of designing with XR is the efficiency it offers. Errors can be spotted and corrected quickly, significantly reducing the time spent on revisions. Working at a real scale allows for greater precision and a better understanding of the proportions and materials of the design. The ability to visualize materials in 3D space is especially important for designers in fields like architecture and product development, where understanding texture, lighting, and scale are crucial. Ultimately, XR is making the process of creative design not only more intuitive but also more effective, setting the stage for the next generation of innovative design.

The Rise of Virtual Reality Workspaces: How Remote Work Is Evolving
Tumblr media
As remote work continues to redefine the way we approach our careers, technology is playing an increasingly significant role in making work-from-home (WFH) more immersive, interactive, and productive. One of the most exciting advancements in this space is the rise of virtual reality (VR) workspaces, which are revolutionizing how people collaborate, communicate, and engage with their tasks.
Let’s explore how VR is changing the landscape of remote work and why it’s the future of our digital offices.
The Evolution of Remote Work: From Zoom to Virtual Reality
Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, remote work has moved from a niche trend to a permanent fixture for millions of employees. While platforms like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Slack helped bridge the communication gap in the early days, they still rely on traditional 2D interfaces, which can sometimes feel disconnected or impersonal.
Enter virtual reality. VR workspaces create fully immersive environments where workers can meet in 3D spaces, interact with digital avatars, and perform tasks as if they were in the same physical office. By using headsets like Oculus Quest or HTC Vive, employees can enter virtual "rooms" designed for work-related activities, from brainstorming sessions to casual coffee chats, and even collaborative 3D modeling.
Key Advantages of VR Workspaces
Immersive Collaboration VR allows for a much richer collaboration experience compared to traditional video calls. Instead of simply looking at a screen and speaking to colleagues, workers can meet in virtual spaces where they can gesture, make eye contact, and manipulate virtual objects together. This sense of presence creates a more engaging and effective collaborative environment.
Breaking the Distance Barrier With a VR workspace, geographical limitations are a thing of the past. Whether you're working from your home in New York, a beach in Bali, or a mountain cabin in the Swiss Alps, VR makes it feel like you’re in the same room with your coworkers. This can be a game-changer for global teams that need to coordinate across multiple time zones and locations.
Enhanced Creativity and Problem-Solving Virtual workspaces often provide interactive 3D tools that foster creativity and innovation. Whether it’s through visualizing complex data or manipulating product prototypes, VR enables employees to engage with their projects in ways that are not possible in traditional digital formats. For example, architects can walk through 3D building designs, and engineers can test prototypes in virtual environments, all in real time.
Personalized Workspaces With VR, workers can personalize their virtual office environments. Gone are the days of monotonous conference rooms and white-walled cubicles. Employees can design their ideal workspace, adding calming elements like nature views or stimulating colors to help boost focus and productivity. This level of customization enhances well-being and contributes to a more positive work atmosphere.
Reduced Video Fatigue Video call fatigue has become a common issue for remote workers, as staring at a screen all day can be exhausting. VR can help alleviate this problem by shifting away from the traditional "grid view" of video calls and allowing participants to move around and interact in a more natural and dynamic way. The experience is much less tiring for the eyes and mind, making for longer, more productive sessions.
Accessibility and Inclusivity VR can also help bridge accessibility gaps for individuals with physical or cognitive impairments. Customizable environments and interactive tools can create inclusive spaces that cater to a diverse range of needs. For example, VR could help create virtual environments where people with hearing impairments can communicate via sign language in real time or use captions.
Challenges of VR Workspaces
While VR workspaces hold tremendous potential, there are several challenges to consider:
Hardware Requirements: Not everyone has access to high-end VR headsets or the computing power needed for smooth experiences. However, as the technology continues to evolve and becomes more affordable, these barriers will likely decrease.
Learning Curve: As with any new technology, there is a learning curve associated with VR. Training employees to use VR tools effectively might take some time, and there may be resistance from those unfamiliar with the technology.
Comfort and Safety: Prolonged use of VR headsets can lead to discomfort, such as motion sickness or eye strain. However, as VR technology improves, these issues are expected to lessen over time.
Security Concerns: As with any digital platform, ensuring the security of sensitive data in virtual environments will be a priority. Secure VR networks and encryption methods will be crucial as these workspaces grow in popularity.
The Future of Virtual Reality Workspaces
As we look ahead, the possibilities for VR workspaces are vast. Major tech companies like Meta (formerly Facebook), Microsoft, and Google are already investing heavily in the development of virtual environments for remote work. Additionally, VR startups are pushing the boundaries of what’s possible, introducing features like virtual coworking spaces, AI-driven avatars, and enhanced simulation tools.
In the next 5-10 years, it’s likely that VR will become as common as email or Slack for remote work. Workplaces will become more inclusive, flexible, and productive, with employees being able to collaborate seamlessly from anywhere in the world. VR could even pave the way for the next evolution of hybrid work models, where in-person meetings and virtual collaboration can coexist.Do You Know KVR?
Conclusion
The rise of VR workspaces is a major step forward in the evolution of remote work. As the technology continues to improve, we can expect virtual environments to become more realistic, interactive, and accessible. VR is not just about replacing in-person meetings—it’s about enhancing the way we work and collaborate in the digital age. By embracing VR, companies can create more engaging, flexible, and productive workspaces for their teams, no matter where they are.

Microsoft puts an end to HoloLens
Microsoft has decided to put an end to its HoloLens experience, its mixed reality glasses. According to UploadVR, the Redmond-based company has stopped manufacturing the HoloLens 2, and will soon end software support for the original model.
According to the mentioned source, the company confirmed that it halted production of the HoloLens 2 and that there are no immediate plans to launch a successor. Sales of the device, which is primarily focused on enterprise use, will continue until the remaining stock is sold out.
Although Microsoft has discontinued the HoloLens 2, it promises to continue providing security patches and software rollbacks until December 31, 2027. The HoloLens 2 was launched in February 2019 during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
As for the original HoloLens, which debuted in 2016, Microsoft’s software support will end this year. Specifically, on December 10, according to the report. Thus, Satya Nadella’s team is beginning to give a final farewell to two products that allowed them to get ahead in the mixed reality segment, but that never had real consumer reach.
Microsoft says goodbye to HoloLens but continues with its military adaptation Alternate version of Microsoft HoloLens used by the U.S. Army Microsoft stopping HoloLens 2 production and ending software support for the original HoloLens does not necessarily mean the company will fully exit the mixed reality market. Microsoft told UploadVR that it remains fully committed to the IVAS project for the U.S. Army.
This program, which consists of developing a military helmet with mixed reality features based on HoloLens, has been underway for several years. The company has already conducted some tests, although not all have been positive. Additionally, it has faced complaints from its own employees, who have protested against the militarization of the technology.
According to the company, a crucial test will be conducted at the beginning of 2025, which will help determine whether the project moves forward and whether large-scale production will begin. It’s worth noting that in September, Microsoft partnered with Palmer Luckey, the founder of Oculus VR, to advance the military headset inspired by HoloLens.
Beyond IVAS, it is clear that HoloLens lost significant ground within Microsoft in recent years. In early 2022, it was reported that the company had supposedly canceled the HoloLens 3, although this was later denied. However, months later, Alex Kipman, the creator of the mixed reality glasses, left the company amidst accusations of sexual harassment.
This was followed by significant layoffs at Microsoft in June of this year, directly impacting the team dedicated to HoloLens. Still, in August, it was revealed that Redmond could partner with Samsung to produce a new device focused on productivity and gaming, which would compete with the Apple Vision Pro. However, it was indicated that this might not be ready until 2026.
