A Brief History of Album Covers - 2017. Cream, “Disraeli Gears” 1967. One of the greatest masterpieces of late-60s psychedelic artwork, #disraeligears reinvented Cream the blues rockers as Cream the psychedelic visionaries. #LSD was a large part of the album's musical gestation, and that spilled out on to the album sleeve, which sees #gingerbaker , #jackbruce and #ericclapton almost entirely swamped by psychedelic swirls and blobs, with a large, winged 'CREAM' threatening to take flight, and take the record sleeve with it.The album's title is crammed in among the psychedelic imagery, almost looking like an afterthought, The artwork was designed by Australian psychedelic artist #martinsharp , who had provided Eric Clapton with the lyrics to the album track '#talesofbraveulysses '' on their first meeting. #rock and roll #psychedelicrock #sixtiesmusic #creamtheband https://www.instagram.com/p/CWXO2OZLjae/?utm_medium=tumblr
