The sister of the famous American film star Maria Montez has arrived in Madrid. Teresa is coming to Spain to make her first film. Why did your sister called herself Montez?

The film producers gave it to her.

What did you admire most about your sister?

She had one of the few good hearts I've ever known. She behaved very well.

With family.

Did she gave you a lot of money?

No, not a lot.

Have you earned any money yet?

Not in the movies, but as a model, yes.

Oh, are you a model?

Yes.

Is it harder to be a model than a movie star?

It was very hard for me to start my modeling career. I didn't know anything, and although there are schools for this in Paris, I wasn't interested, because you can't get the essentials there.

What is it?

Having a very stylized figure, a face that suits you, elegance… and knowing how to face the public, no shyness.

You're not intimidated by anything?

As they say at home, I have a lot of drive.

No, but my husband is less violent than me.

I am not the type to make victims. If they fall in love, fine; but I am not the type to provoke.

What famous men did you meet?

I met Pinay in a province in France, where they were giving him a banquet.

Did he flirt with you?

He told me that I was very pretty, and I replied that I admired him very much, and he replied that I was very kind, but that he did not believe it.

Hey, so... quick statement in regards to my queer historical monster romance story A Tiger of Persia:

I'm a white, Western writer, and the characters I'm depicting are not. I don't know a huge amount about Achaemenid-era Persia (most of what you see in the story so far is drawn from Wikipedia), and although I fully plan to continue the story to its end I don't want to accidentally stray into the realm of exoticism, orientalism, or other objectification of a culture not my own. Therefore, what you're going to see of A Tiger of Persia here on tumblr is the first draft.

After that first draft is complete, it will stay here on tumblr forever (don't worry) but I want to read a few books about ancient Persia and then re-write the entire thing to be more historically accurate and nuanced. My reading list so far is:

Repost @somospueblord --- El presidente Luis Abinader firmó el 15 de febrero del presente año un decreto para designar a nueve diplomáticos en diferentes países, incluyendo a la destituida ministra de la Juventud, Luz del Alba Jiménez Ramírez. La exfuncionaria y dirigente de la juventud del Partido Revolucionario Moderno (PRM) quedó nombrada como vicecónsul en el Consulado de la República Dominicana en Barcelona, del Reino de España, junto a José Wilfredo Germosén Pichardo. El decreto fue publicado con varias semanas de retraso por la Consultoría Jurídica del Poder Ejecutivo, misma institución que en noviembre de 2021 recibió un documento del consultor jurídico del Ministerio de la Juventud, José Manuel Vidal Tejeda, en el que denunciaba graves actos de corrupción. La denuncia José Manuel Vidal Tejeda reveló ante la misma sede del Gobierno que la entonces ministra supuestamente le había instruido para que favoreciera a las empresas Gretmon y Sketchprom en la adjudicación de una licitación por valor de 3 millones de pesos a través del encargado de Compras de la institución, José Ramón Liria. Este último también habría solicitado al perito del Departamento de Tecnología que en sus evaluaciones favoreciera a las dos compresas y les “diera prioridad y aceptación”. De acuerdo al relato de Vidal Tejeda, cuando él notificó la situación a la ministra, ella le confirmó que se trataba de una orden suya y le dijo que él, “como su jurídico, tenía que corresponder”. Investigadores de la Estación Biológica de Doñana (CSIC) han descubierto mandíbulas y cabezas de hormigas legionarias africanas adheridas a las patas heridas de un chotacabras cuellirojo, un ave que recorre más de 3000 km en sus desplazamientos estacionales. Los resultados del estudio, obtenidos a lo largo de 15 años, sugieren que los ataques del insecto al ave son raros, aunque es necesario investigar más en África para conocer la incidencia real. Chotacabras cuellirrojo en vuelo. / José Luis Bautista Un equipo científico liderado por la Estación Biológica de Doñana (EBD-CSIC), analiza evidencias forenses para documentar una curiosa interacción entre aves y hormigas, en la que ambas partes salen mal paradas. El estudio, publicado en la revista Ecology and Evolution, se realizó en el Espacio Natural de Doñana (Huelva) en el marco de un programa de seguimiento a largo plazo centrado en el enigmático chotacabras cuellirrojo, un ave migradora nocturna. En la población de estudio aparecen cada año chotacabras a los que les faltan partes del dedo o dedos completos en uno o los dos pies. Esto también sucede en otras especies migratorias, pero la causa de las amputaciones siempre fue un misterio hasta ahora. Las primeras pistas llegaron en 2015, cuando se capturó a un chotacabras con serias lesiones en uno de los dedos. En este caso, la amputación no era completa, sino que el dedo estaba aún sujeto al resto del pie por una pequeña franja de piel. En uno de los extremos del dedo, encontraron lo que parecía ser un pequeño trozo de mandíbula, aparentemente de hormiga, aunque los restos recuperados no pudieron ser identificados por su mal estado. “Esperamos pacientemente durante seis largos años para encontrar otro caso similar que nos permitiese tomar muestras identificables de quien, a buen seguro, era el responsable de las misteriosas amputaciones” explica Carlos Camacho, primer autor del estudio e investigador Ramón y Cajal en la Estación Biológica de Doñana. El escenario del crimen revelado La oportunidad se presentó en forma de cabeza completa de una hormiga muerta, cuyas mandíbulas, inusualmente grandes, aún estaban embebidas en la carne de uno de los dedos casi amputado del ave. Estos chotacabras pueden recorrer más de 3000 km en sus desplazamientos estacionales. El equipo científico entregó los restos recuperados a modo de evidencias forenses a J. Manuel Vidal-Cordero, experto mirmecólogo de la Estación Biológica de Doñana, para su identificación en el laboratorio. “No conocía la procedencia de la muestra, pero sentía curiosidad, porque se trataba claramente de una hormiga legionaria del género Dorylus, un grupo de especies que se distribuye por regiones tropicales del continente africano”, explica J. Manuel Vidal-Cordero. “Estas hormigas son famosas por su carácter nómada y su gran agresividad. Atacan en masa a cualquier criatura que encuentran a su paso mientras se desplazan de un lugar a otro”, prosigue. ¿Qué hace la cabeza de una hormiga tropical en la pata de un chotacabras de Doñana? La respuesta es sencilla. Los chotacabras pasan el invierno al sur del Sáhara, donde coexisten con estas hormigas, y vuelven en primavera a Doñana para reproducirse. Estas aves pasan la mayor parte del tiempo en el suelo y quedan expuestas a encuentros tan fortuitos como desafortunados con estas pequeñas pero tenaces criaturas. La mordedura de las hormigas legionarias es tan potente y persistente que en algunas zonas se usan tradicionalmente para dar puntos de sutura a humanos. No es de extrañar entonces que sus mandíbulas puedan permanecer sujetas al dedo de un chotacabras el tiempo suficiente para completar el viaje de 3,500 km de distancia que estas aves realizan cada año para visitar sus áreas de reproducción en el sur de España.
