The sister of the famous American film star Maria Montez has arrived in Madrid. Teresa is coming to Spain to make her first film. I don't think I'm very pretty.

Why did your sister called herself Montez?

The film producers gave it to her.

What did you admire most about your sister?

She had one of the few good hearts I've ever known. She behaved very well.

No, not a lot.

Have you earned any money yet?

Not in the movies, but as a model, yes.

Oh, are you a model?

Yes.

Is it harder to be a model than a movie star?

It was very hard for me to start my modeling career. I didn't know anything, and although there are schools for this in Paris, I wasn't interested, because you can't get the essentials there.

What is it?

Having a very stylized figure, a face that suits you, elegance… and knowing how to face the public, no shyness.

You're not intimidated by anything?

As they say at home, I have a lot of drive.

Many things, some good and some bad.

Look, each model has a collection of suits made to measure. One of my last collections, when it was almost finished, I realized that because it was too ordinary, I wasn't going to be a good fit; I protested and the owner had to order me a new collection. Is this character?

No, but my husband is less violent than me.

When did you get married?

Last February.

What does your husband do?

He works in the textile industry. He represents American machines.

I am not the type to make victims. If they fall in love, fine; but I am not the type to provoke.

What famous men did you meet?

I met Pinay in a province in France, where they were giving him a banquet.

Did he flirt with you?

He told me that I was very pretty, and I replied that I admired him very much, and he replied that I was very kind, but that he did not believe it.

Madam, did you ask to make your film debut in Spain or did they look for you?

I was asked.

Hey, so... quick statement in regards to my queer historical monster romance story A Tiger of Persia:

I'm a white, Western writer, and the characters I'm depicting are not. I don't know a huge amount about Achaemenid-era Persia (most of what you see in the story so far is drawn from Wikipedia), and although I fully plan to continue the story to its end I don't want to accidentally stray into the realm of exoticism, orientalism, or other objectification of a culture not my own. Therefore, what you're going to see of A Tiger of Persia here on tumblr is the first draft.

After that first draft is complete, it will stay here on tumblr forever (don't worry) but I want to read a few books about ancient Persia and then re-write the entire thing to be more historically accurate and nuanced. My reading list so far is:

Repost @somospueblord --- El presidente Luis Abinader firmó el 15 de febrero del presente año un decreto para designar a nueve diplomáticos en diferentes países, incluyendo a la destituida ministra de la Juventud, Luz del Alba Jiménez Ramírez. La exfuncionaria y dirigente de la juventud del Partido Revolucionario Moderno (PRM) quedó nombrada como vicecónsul en el Consulado de la República Dominicana en Barcelona, del Reino de España, junto a José Wilfredo Germosén Pichardo. El decreto fue publicado con varias semanas de retraso por la Consultoría Jurídica del Poder Ejecutivo, misma institución que en noviembre de 2021 recibió un documento del consultor jurídico del Ministerio de la Juventud, José Manuel Vidal Tejeda, en el que denunciaba graves actos de corrupción. La denuncia José Manuel Vidal Tejeda reveló ante la misma sede del Gobierno que la entonces ministra supuestamente le había instruido para que favoreciera a las empresas Gretmon y Sketchprom en la adjudicación de una licitación por valor de 3 millones de pesos a través del encargado de Compras de la institución, José Ramón Liria. Este último también habría solicitado al perito del Departamento de Tecnología que en sus evaluaciones favoreciera a las dos compresas y les “diera prioridad y aceptación”. De acuerdo al relato de Vidal Tejeda, cuando él notificó la situación a la ministra, ella le confirmó que se trataba de una orden suya y le dijo que él, “como su jurídico, tenía que corresponder”. Luz del Alba le habría advertido que él estaba “tentando con sus intereses y el de su equipo y que si no estoy con ella entonces no debería estar en la posición de jurídico”. La hormiga argentina (Linepithema humile) compite con los romanos: su supercolonia se extiende de Doñana a Italia. / Alejandro Muñoz Por Alejandro Muñoz En los años 70, el antiguo Palacio de Doñana experimentó una serie de reformas. Se cree que fue entonces cuando la hormiga argentina (Linepithema humile) llegó a este edificio, sede de la Reserva Biológica, entre la tierra y los materiales que se introdujeron en la obra. Desde entonces, su expansión ha generado daños en aves y anfibios. Los equipos de la Estación Biológica de Doñana (EBD-CSIC) también investigan sus efectos en los árboles, los ciclos de nutrientes y procesos tan cruciales como la dispersión de semillas y la polinización Originaria de Sudamérica, sus escasos tres milímetros esconden a un invasor imparable. Gracias a su tamaño, puede ser transportada de forma accidental en multitud de mercancías, como madera, plantas o contenedores, y tan solo una reina basta para que esta hormiga se establezca en nuevos entornos. “Se trata del verdadero caballo de Troya de los insectos. En primer lugar, es poligínica, que significa que tiene varias reinas que ponen huevos de forma simultánea. Es polidómica, es decir, una colonia puede estar repartida entre varios nidos. Además, esta especie tiene facilidad para monopolizar los recursos ambientales y desplazar a las especies nativas. Y unido a esto, es capaz de establecer el fenómeno conocido como supercolonias. “Imagina que coges una hormiga argentina de Doñana y te la llevas a la costa italiana. Si la sueltas allí, en un hormiguero de esa especie, no se pelean. Hablamos de una colonia de miles de kilómetros, una supercolonia”, explica Vidal-Cordero. En Europa, ya se han identificado tres supercolonias de hormiga argentina. Este fenómeno permite que sus diferentes colonias no se ataquen entre ellas e incluso cooperen.
