Teal'c,Zeb,Worf all talk about their weapons
Teal'c: Worf what weapon do you have in your hand? Worf: It is called a Bat'Leth it is a traditional weapon wielded by Klingon Warriors. Teal'c: A very interesting design. Worf: What about yours? Teal'c: It's called a Ma'Tok I believe O'Neal describes this as a weapon of terror. What's yours Zeb? Zeb: (Bashful) Ah, this old thing?.. It's a Bo'Rifle. Only the Honor Guard of Lasant can carry it. Worf: It must've been a great honor to serve your people during those trying times Zeb. Zeb: (Becomes Solemn and stares at his Bo'Rifle) Yea... Teal'c: Indeed... (Teal'c pats Zeb's pat in an effort to comfort Zeb) Worf: (Worf noticing he struck a chord with Zeb approached him and placed his hand on his shoulder and stares at Zeb) You carry the honor of your people with pride Zeb. Never forget that.

Rules:
It has to be a dedicated melee weapon. If it has multiple forms, the melee has to be considered as valid as the other forms. The exception is cutting tools that become really useful in the setting.
It cannot just be one whackjob, but has to be find a way to be useful, or be a main weapon from a faction.
It cannot just be a mundane weapon from today, (other than smallswords), but it can be a technologically improved one.
Descriptions:
40K: Chainsword: A chainsaw made into a one-handed sword. This is justified in-setting by making them 8ft super soldiers in powered armour. The powered armour can protect them from the vast, vast, vast majority of weapons in the setting.
40K: Power Sword: They take a sword, wrap a forcefield around it, and then shrink it down to a monomolecular edge.
Andromeda: Force Lance / Babylon 5: Denn'bok: Collapsable quarterstaves. This seems especially mundane, but the quarterstaff is one of the most versatile hand-to-hand weapons. It's a weapon that, in the hands of a master, can give them the advantage in pretty much any situation. Making it collapsable removes the big drawback. You think, it's basically an asp? Kind of. Asps are our attempt to make them. Their balance is terrible. So, useful, but definitely not master-level useful. The Force Lance also doubles as a firearm, by making the bullets tiny homing missiles called Effectors. This solves the main problem with using a weapon designed for both melee and range.
Farscape: Qualta Blade: This weapons suffer from the same problem of making a combined melee/ranged weapon, the fact that both modes are completely different. It's a sword that turns into a plasma rifle, both of which look incredibly awkward to use.
FFXIII: Gunblade: Final Fantasy has a love of gunblades, but gunblades are incredibly awkward. XIII solves this by having the weapon shift from sword to gun modes. When in gun mode, the blade is folded away to the point it's basically a bayonet. While I love Lance's gunblade from Epic Battle Fantasy, FFXIII made one that seems like it would actually work.
Mass Effect: Omni-Shield: Mass Effect stars a series of super firearms that are designed to fold away into themselves, allowing someone, (you), to carry an arsenal. We could talk about how ME2 fucked up the firearms, but I'd rather focus on how the Humans saw these incredibly advanced gauss rifles, and decided to duct tape a knife to them. They then turned their omni-tools into a device who's primary purpose is to make better knives to attach to their firearms. Then they came out with the master plan, use the Omni-tool to make a shield. This solves one of the big problems with melee weapons, that being bullets. It makes a lot of sense in Mass Effect, as there are a number of aliens that can take a lot of bullets and not get dropped, and they use this advantage to get within melee range. Contrary to Humans-are-Space-Orcs, Humans are on the squishy side of the setting.
Stargate: Ma'Tok (staff weapon): This is an interesting weapon, because it's utility is questioned and justified in the setting. In Stargate, aliens masquerade as gods. They tell their soldiers that if they die on the battlefield, it was because of a lack of faith. They actively prohibit their soldiers from using tactics. The reason Bra'tak was so successful is that he was able to disguise his tactics. He saved his true training for true disbelievers. The Goa'uld are also anti-technological progress, because it would make them more powerful than their fellows. If they find one of the System Lords doing this, they will typically gang up and ruin their day, and then backstab each other, trying to be the only one with the technology. So, in Stargate, the primary tactic used by Jaffa is line infantry. They line up and shoot each other. The staff weapon is incredibly durable, to the point it seems to be resistant to itself. Jaffa armour is NOT resistant to staff weapons. It can also be used for centuries without running out of ammo, or suffering any major malfunctions. It's a variable-yield plasma cannon that is also double-loaded staff for melee combat. In the hands of a master, they are incredibly useful. But, their accuracy is only really useful against massed enemy infantry, or volley-firing into civilians. As mentioned, Jaffa armour does not protect against them, or a better way to say it is that their variable-yield is always set high enough to penetrate their own armour. Their armour is more useful for bullying civilians. Which, truthfully, the Goa'uld spend most of their time doing. It is also shown that Jaffa armour actually interferes with their ability to fight other Jaffa, and so only makes sense because their gods want their toy soldiers to fight in soldier suits.
Star Trek: Bat'Leth: This a sword, but completely different from pretty much any weapon on Terra. The Klingons are incredibly hardy, (with many backup organs, including a backup spinal cord), but also realize the limitations of their weapons. As such, they will typically try to find a way to engage in as close-quarters as possible. Unless the enemy's energy weapons are set to the highest setting, it can take a lot of shots to even slow them down. The Bat'Leth is a sword designed for mastery, and the best supposition behind it's creation is that it's a weapon that FORCES it's wielder to master it. Bath'Leths can attack, block, and parry from any position, while also be used as non-lethal weapons.
Star Wars: Light Sabre: Possibly the progenitor of all energy swords. I say possibly, because Starship Troopers mentions "Laser Knives", but never gives them any description, so it might just be a laser cutter. Heinlein loved giving vague, one-off descriptions like this. In Star Wars, it justifies why the laser sword is useful, and that's because you basically need magical control and precognition to not cut yourself with it. And when you cut yourself with super-heated plasma, you are not getting the arm back. Rey was infamously so bad with it, that the special effects artists had to basically ignore what she was actually doing with it.
Various: Cutting Tools: So, you're in space, and you encounter something that your weapons just can't touch. The only thing you have that might work is a plasma torch, or a buzz-saw designed to cut through concrete. Before anyone says Dead Space, Dark Forces had a fusion cutter as one of your main weapons.
Various: Small Swords: The biggest problem with melee weapons is that you, obviously, need to get close enough to touch them. You need some justification in-setting for this. This would be as simple as stealth, or the fact that bayonet charges still work wonders, but other justifications would still work. Still, you're in a world with firearms, so you need to find that perfect balance between utility, weight, an inobstrusiveness. Enter the knife/smallsword. They can be easily carried on the waist, but still useful in close-combat. Dune justifies it because firearms draw the attention of sandworms. Babylon 5 had them use swords because they were a decaying Franco-Russian empire that still had a duelling culture among it's upper classes. The Wakizashi is popular, because it's designed to be stowed easily and drawn instantly. Japan even has Iaido, a sword style / philosophy dedicated to draw-strikes.

Goa'uld Tech/Weapons
Goa’uld staff weapons
Idk how to explain a lot of these so here's another link and a quote.
“A weapon of Goa'uld design. Several feet in length, its head divides into four parts when activated, releasing powerful bolts of plasma energy. The weapon is powered by a small, green container of liquid naquadah.” This quote is from GateWorld.net btw.
Tumblr media
Goa’uld Staff Canon (same thing as staff but railgun style).
Tumblr media
Goa'uld Hand device (Way too multifunctional for this post).
Tumblr media
Goa’uld Zats
It fires a long lightening look of purple electricity. One shot, you're stunned. Second, you're dead. Third, your body is disintegrated. They pop open to look like an upright snake like a goa’uld.

Goa’uld sarcophagus
Is literally just a sarcophagus but it heals injuries and brings people back from the dead. Can can corrupt the heart and mind if you use it anyway times so be careful about it using it.

So I got pretty far with my ma'tok staff tonight, and although I might have to add another few layers of paint tomorrow, I think I might be able to get it done some time during the day. Maybe.
Ignore the messy table.

Jack: "So what do you do if you get attacked and you don't have a weapon?"
Teal'c: "I always have a Ma'Tok staff on me."
Jack: "What, even in the shower?"
Teal'c: "That's where I keep my shower Zat'nik'tel."
Jack: "Right, I should've known."

It had been a rather long and boring day, where she'd spent every hour until nightfall on guard duty, patrolling. This day she had been appointed the route through the more crowded areas of the city they currently resided in. The area was the residence of the poor people, the workers and those who had nothing and their homes was mostly made up from pieces of clothing that was held up by planks and whatnot, making it look like a city of tents.
Most people recognized her as a goa'uld due to her suit and armor, and the ma'tok staff she carried with her, and most of them kept at a safe distance or rushed away when she approached. Her strict posture also helped keeping people away, which was, to her, a relief.
She had never liked them. The regulars, humans. Whatever one chose to call them, she most certainly preferred to keep them as far away as possible. If they got too close, she had no issues in removing them. Violently, if need be. And she didn't much like this part of the city. It was too dusty. Too dirty. Too much of a hassle.
As the hours passed by and the streets grew ever so empty, and most of the people had retired to their respective homes, she looked forward to some time to relax. A mild breeze gently caressed her face, and her gaze looked to the sky for a moment. There was nothing there. Everything seemed normal. Only stars and the occasional cloud. Sekhmet looked forward and begun walking to the spot where a Jaffa would replace her for the night. As she walked, she felt that breeze once more and a thought passed by. It would be a windy night. Her steps took her closer to the end of the tent city, where proper houses began to grow from the ground, rising up toward the sky, immediately making the goa'uld feel more at rest.
That was when she noticed. The Jaffa that was supposed to stand there, was in fact not present. Her fingers clenched the ma'tok as she muttered a curse under her breath and stepped cautiously toward the empty spot.

A Prime Opportunity
Drak'e had many things in his life. A daughter that was granted to him for his service that he loves, the position of First Prime to Set, and almost anything he desired. But he was not content, he never could be. Not when his daughter was a redhead. Redheads were rare and were always chosen as bodies for the System Lords if they were available. He had seen Set eying his daughter already and she wasn't even old enough to be able to Host a Lord. He hated it. He had nights where he lay awake, curled around Gos'Alyn, afraid he would lose her with the sunrise. Tales his father had told him before the elder duck had been killed for spreading lies twisted themselves into the First Prime's mind. Of the only people to have thrown off the yoke of the System Lords, the Tau'ri. Deep inside of Drak'e, a small flame guttered weakly, dying slowly, a flame made if hope. Because there is no hope. The Tau'ri were only legends made up by reckless fools to rally around.
Until it wasn't. Drak'e had been summoned to his Lord's personal Stargate to guard it. Set had always taken pleasure that his "Darkwing" was the most fearsome fighter among the First Primes. Drak'e had held his post faithfully, he had thought it was nothing more then another Lord trying to take what was Set's again. He had never been more wrong. The ducks that emerged from the Stargate were not in the service of a System Lord. He made sure he knew all the uniforms used by the others so he could inform Lord Set who had attacked him. These beings wore strange clothes that seemed like cloth armor. He had managed to fight and bring down all four of them, then he discovered who they were. Tau'ri, real, living, breathing, Tau'ri. Although they wouldn't be living or breathing for long. Lord Set had ordered their deaths and Drak'e would obey.... But what if this was the only chance to see Gos'Alyn to safety? The only chance for his baby girl to grow up as a free duck and not be lost to the Lords as a Host? Drak'e is LOYAL.... But the guttering flame was now a burning fire. He remembered that night. He had broken the four Tau'ri out of the cells. It wasn't hard. He was Darkwing, favored of Lord Set and First Prime. If he said to be given the prisoners then he was given the prisoners. He collected Gos'Alyn from their home and pushed her into the arms of the young male duck that looked so much like the young female duck. "Please. Take her." that was Drak'e's plea, and the Tau'ri did. They also took him. When the oldest grabbed his hand and pulled him through the gate, he could not resist. When he was placed in a cell and interrogated, he told the Tau'ri commanders all he knew with the only demand that Gos'Alyn remains here and safe. He learned much during his time there. Gained true friends, not just allies or subordinates. The four Tau'ri he had released became his voice. They would demand things like a room where he and his daughter both could live in and that he be allowed to waln around. He learned their names. The leader and the one to bring him through was Scrooge McDuck. The young female duck was Della Duck and she was a twin to the young male that had carried Gos'Alyn, Donald Duck. The last one, the one that seemed to never get hit and had only surrendered when the other three were down was Gladstone Gander. It had taken two years but as Drak'e stood there, purple t-shirt in place of armor, checking a gun instead of his Ma'Tok, he knew this was where he belonged. Waving at Gos'Alyn, he followed Donald Duck and Della Duck through the Stargate, into his future.
Author's Note: okay! This little thing was inspired by @adamarinayu and their Stargate: Ducktale's au. Seriously. Go read it, it's awesome. I made Drake play the role of Teal'c for reasons. Good ones too.

For glovekind, You should look up the Kara Kesh from Stargate, that could be an excellent multi-purpose glovekind i'd imagine. Also for Staffkind, another idea from Stargate: Look up the Ma'Tok staff and Prior Staff. Pretty neat stuff. (If the former count as staffkind, i mean.)
Looked up the glove, it seems pretty powerful and it looks cool!

// I've been so busy with working on my Stargate cosplay this week, so I haven't had time for much else. Not writing, not my threads. Just my cosplay and sleeping, basically. I probably will be equally as busy next week, but I might be able to do some of my threads in my spare time. I hope so. My apologies for the delay :(

So my kara'kesh is almost done. It needs a lil bit more paint, and maybe some gloss on the gem in the middle, and then it's all done! And I'm just sitting here like... Woaaaah, did I make that? I mean, I know it's not perfect considering that it's made out of Worbla and not metal, but I'm actually kinda proud of it and I will keep being proud. That is my creation, I made that.
And even though I probably will try to 3D print one in the future to get one that's more smooth, I will still cherish my first homemade cosplay prop.
I'll post a picture when it is complete. And maybe, just maybe I'll post a premature cosplay picture as my goa'uld as well. I'm attending a con in two weeks time from now on and so I have a lot to do with making the ma'tok staff and finishing the temporary outfit.
