{DEBUT!!} GEENIUS “Voyage” Official Music Video

The first debut of the 2024!!

Former Pledis Junior trainees and Girls Planet 999 contestants Yeyoung and Sion have made their debut alongside Mika, Andamiro, and Zoe (also known as Hayoung, a former Mixnine contestant) with the song “Voyage”!

Let’s give them a lot of support, they’ve all been preparing for this debut since 2018 and recently left BlockBerry Creative (thank god) but stayed together while moving to a new company!

sixteen (twenty-fifteen)

do it again + going crazy

i have a soft-spot for these two and as someone who biased sana from the sixteen days it was great to hear her actually have lines before the twice version came out

produce series one / two (twenty-sixteen / seventeen)

don't matter + pretty girl

i didn't really enjoy most of the produce battle songs, they just felt derivative or each other and they are objectively good songs. these were the only two that really caught my attention, especially 'don't matter' which just had the right kind of bite to it - but i'm always a sucker for a jazz influence. though to be fair i didn't watch series two. also, series one's signal song sucks ass.

produce 48 (twenty-eighteen)

you're in love, aren't you? + rumour

y'all have no idea, but i cried tears of joy when yena came out as centre position as not only was it my preferred finale song but my from the first episode one-pick got centre! also chowon's "madewa~" is truly iconic.

'rumour' was the best of a bad bunch for me.

shooting star!

i'm really surprised i like 'shooting star' because mbc survival show music ain't really for me but there's just something about this one (probably seunghwan)

queendom one (twenty-nineteen)

destiny + lion

'lion' was the first g-idle song i ever heard (i'd maybe heard 'latata' in passing) so i was blown away by their performance as i'd began watching after the show had aired for aoa but came out of it loving mamamoo + g-idle. *also, oh my girl's cover of lovelyz 'destiny' is still one of my favourite survival show covers.

i watched good girls for 'witch'. i'm a sone and it got randomly recommended to me and because i saw hyoyeon, ailee and jamie in the cast (who i didn't actually recognise at first) i figured i'd give it a go.

i implore you all to watch it (if you can get past jamie's nails on a chalkboad aave usage) because it's got a great cast and sleeq's whole arc is brilliant and whilst i think the girls struggle to fully embrace her, making a point to bring attention to queer issues and feminism on mnet of all places is truly applaudable (her reaction to hyoyeon is also me.)

girls planet 999 (twenty-twenty)

snake + u+me=love

until recently i didn't ever think i could love a survival show cast as much as i loved the girls of girls planet.

produce48 was a trip and i barely remember watching it because i watched all twelve eps in one sitting (i know) right after it had wrapped but girls planet...

the signal song's piano version still makes me tear up.

'snake' and 'u+me' are just such incredible songs and whilst i don't mind the other two (i'm still pissed we missed out on luofei, bora, reina and yurina in 'utopia') they just don't have the same bite.

'snake' was everything it needed to be and 'u+me' was everything i never imagined it being.

also shine? team two? tears of joy. (switch shana + myah with yurina + yujin - or don't and team two i would've been very happy with that debut group)

girls planet also has my one of my favourite ballad covers on a survival show, 'missing you' by btob (the other being p48 itnw)

queendom two (twenty-twenty-two)

pose + red sun

i actually really enjoyed all the new songs on queendom two (as much of a trash dumpster it was) these two were just my favourites.

the other songs have sections or parts that i really like ('the girls' + 'ka-boom' bridges) but the two highlighted i loved the whole songs.

*'the girls' also sounds very much like exo's 'can't bring me down' like seriously, if you like one you'll enjoy the other.

and 'red sun' was a repurposed gfriend song so i'm not surprised i liked it.

'pose' was just perfect for loona (coming from someone who is very hit-or-miss with their discography)

the only songs i didn't love were wjsn's, it just wasn't for me and as much as i loved the message of brave girls, their vocals are not for me at all.

boys planet (twenty-twenty-three)

en garde + over me + jelly pop

'en garde' is immaculate. seunghwan vocal redemption, hiroto screentime (kinda), me loosing the idgaf war with gunwook, hui stopped showboating. (though he didn't have to take his ego-bruise out on seunghwan.)

here's my thing with 'over me' i like the song, i do but i'd be lying if i told you jay's vocals weren't doing the heavy lifting. i'm an exo-l, sexy r'n'b songs don't do jack shit for me if your vocals aren't up to scratch because it's nothing i haven't heard before and jay truly makes 'over me' stand out - as much as i love hao.

phanbin stared into my fucking soul during his 'jelly pop' floor entrance with jay and it is one of the hottest shit i've ever seen on a variety show and then to come out and shake his cute little ass? duality people. he was also styled immaculately.

i honestly like all the artist battle and finale songs, these are just my favourites.

I am so incredibly proud of Hongjoong, he's been popping off lately from increasing his fastest rap from 7.50 sps in leaders -> 8.75 sps in wake up and then to 8.88 sps in Matz, he broke his fastest rap two comebacks consecutively. This makes him the 5th fastest 4th gen rapper as well! Also the quality of his flows are just getting better and better like the passe with him and Mingi in This World, his second verse in Matz and now his verse in Eenie Meenie. I think it's time people start acknowledging him alongside the best 4th gen rappers like Soyeon, Changbin, Han and Jongseob even though (at the moment) he may be the weakest of them. I hope he continues to improve!
