The Sleep Over PT 1
M Included : Jane, Minah, Sungjae, Tyler , Daniel, Milo, Charlie, Astrid , Minjae. Oli  Mentioned : Tara, Mark, Ella , Suho
“Daddy, is it one o’clock yet?” Charlotte asked from her seat at the kitchen counter, her coloured pencil tapping against the counter impatiently. “I can’t understand that old clock,” she said pouted glaring at the old grandfather clock in the corner of the kitchen.  M chuckled moving to lean down beside his daughter.
“Not quite love,” he said. “You see you need both hands of the clock to be on the one,” he explained. “And what is the rush? Are Mummy and I not enough for you anymore?” he asked.
“Daddy there are no hands-on that clock, what are you talking about?” Charlie said shaking her head. “And yes you are,” she said sound far too tired for a three-year-old. “but mummy and Milo have gone to the shopping and you said i can’t go on the jumping castle until one,” she said pouted waving her pencil at him. “Plus I haven’t seen my friends since Thursday,” she sniffed. M bit back a chuckle, it was only two days but he was sure to Charlie it felt like a lifetime. She couldn’t go to daycare yesterday because she had a bad case of the sniffles. “I don’t even know what happens with Miss Barrett and Mr Jackson!” she exclaimed dramatically.
“What is happening with Miss Barrett and Mr Jackson?” M asked brows furrowing in confusion.
“I don’t know,” Charlie huffed. “Astrid said she will tell me, once she did i will tell you,”  Charlie said. M tilted his head actually laughing this time ruffling Charlie’s blonde hair as he stood up causing the three-year-old to huff as she tried to fix her hair.
“Okay well you tell me as soon Astrid tells you,” M said seriously. Charlie nodded a soft i will coming from her lips. “Now i am about to start making the cupcakes, how many of your friends are coming over again?” he asked her, pretending not to know who was staying over tonight.
“Well let’s see, there is Oli, Ella and Astrid but no Minjae because he is a baby and according to Astrid, he is no fun all he does is cry -” Charlie listed innocently. M frowned as he grabbed the baking trays, he didn’t know Astrid was having trouble adjusting to being a big sister, from what he could recall Astrid was always so excited about Minjae, in fact, he remembered her running excitedly to tell him all about her new baby brother. “And then there is Milo and me,” Charlie continued pointing to herself. “So i think you should make elf-even,” she said holding up ten fingers..
“Eleven,” M corrected her, “And i think i might just make twelve in case,” he said looking over at his daughter who nodded in agreement, happy with what he said. Her attention fully turned back to her colouring. M smiled softly giving her once last glance before beginning his search for ingredients.
“It looks like someone has been busy,” Jane said appearing out of nowhere with Milo and several shopping bags in tow. M was lucky he wasn’t covered in cake batter because he’d be lying if he said he didn’t jump at her presence. Taking a deep breath, he slid the cupcakes into the oven. Standing up and stretching his back out, glaring playfully at his wife who was grinning cheekily at him. She knew he wasn’t the biggest fan of that apparition thing that all the wizards in his life tended to do. Honestly how hard was it to just walk through the front door?
“Don’t give me that look,” Jane pouted. “It’s almost one,” she as she walked over to the counter placing the shopping bags down. “And how are my babies?” she asked leaning down and kissing the top of Charlotte’s head. Milo who was following behind her scoffed muttering they had no babies in the house.
“I’ve been colouring,” Charlie exclaimed holding up her picture. “Lookie,” she said. “Here is Milo,” she pointed to a blue scribble, “Maman,” she said pointing to a yellow scribble, “Daddy,” she said pointing to a green scribble “And then me,” she said pointing to a pink scribble.
“It’s beautiful,” Jane said with a soft smile. “We have an artist in our mist love,” she said to M. “It’s so good i am just going to stick it on the fridge,” she said taking the paper off Charlie and sticking on the fridge right next to Milo’s picture of a puppy.
“Our fridge is going to become the next Lourve soon everyone will want to come and see the great art off Milo and Charlie,” M proclaimed dramatically. “How much do you think we should charge them?” he asked looking at Jane who hummed.
“Art like this is priceless M, how could you even think of charging people to see such culture?” she joked.
“Mum, Dad, you are being weird again,” Milo said seriously. M and Jane both looked at him scandalized. He was saved from being questioned about how they were weird by the doorbell ringing.
“They are here,” Charlie yelled happily jumping off her chair and racing towards the front door, Milo followed after her excited yells could be heard.
“So this is going to be our life for the next few hours,” Jane said patting M on the back. “Think we can survive?”
“Course we can,” M said. “You and me together, it’s an unbeatable combination,” he said wrapping an arm around her shoulder and pulling her in.
“Uncle Sungjae!!! Aunty Minah!!” They heard both of their children call out excitedly.
Pressing a soft kiss to Jane’s forehead. “Think we should go save them?” he whispered. Jane hummed pretending to think about it before muttering a suppose so. M laughed grabbing her hand as they began to walk out to the hallway finding Sungjae, Minah and baby Minjae effectively rounded up by three toddlers. Milo and Charlie were busy telling them about their weeks and anything else that pops up in their little minds. Astrid stood to the side looking less than impressed.
From beside Jane let out of high pitch squeal before racing forward. “Is that my little cutie?” she cooed as soon she got in front of Minah. M noticed Astrid scoffing rolling her eyes, M’s nose scrunched noting that he should have a conversation with his goddaughter later today. “You come say hi to Aunty Jane,” she said taking Minjae off a slightly pouting Minah. “Come in, come in,” Jane said as Minah, Sungjae and Astrid moved inside.
“Come on Astrid, we have a jumping castle,” Charlie said excitedly, linking arms with her friend and dragging her towards the backyard. Milo following them after them singing out about how he can jump higher than both of them.
“A jumping castle?” Sungjae asked, eyebrow cocking up in amusement as he looked over at M. “It’s going a little far don’t you think?” he said teasingly. “And it looks like i won’t be going anywhere for a little since your wife has hijacked my son,” he said nodding to their living area where Minah and Jane were both cooing over Minjae.
“Yes and what of it?” M said with a shrug. “And should you be talking considering you created an entire toyline for your daughter’s first sleepover,” M pointed out as Sungjae’s nose scrunched up. “And yeah might as well get comfortable because it’s going to be a while,” M said watching as Jane and Minah made themselves comfortable in the living room. “Is that Astrid’s things?”  M said gesturing towards the Chanel backpack in Sungjae’s hand.
“Oh yeah,” Sungjae said seemingly forgetting that he was even holding it. “She packed it herself she is very proud,” Sungjae said. It sounded like someone else was pretty proud of her to. “Also i am not meant to tell you but she might have snuck a few snacks in there but that is only in case Uncle M and Aunty Jane try to make her eat apples or any apple-based dish,” Sungjae chuckled.
“You dibber dobber,” M joked. “And thanks for the warning, Jane doesn’t want them to have to much sugar before bedtime- “ M said. He could only imagine what it would be like to try and put 5 kids hyped up on sugar to bed. Nope he would not be subjecting himself to that. “Here,” he said reaching for the bag.”I’ll take that up to Charlie’s room, You can go stop my wife from inviting Minah and Minjae to stay the night,” M said watching the way his friends contorted in a look of disgust.
“Astrid would probably wipe Aunty Jane completely if she did that,” Sungjae said as he handed M her backpack. M frowned about to ask Sungjae about how Astrid was really doing with becoming a big sister when there was a loud knocking on the door.
“I better go -” M started to say, he knew Jane wouldn't really want to leave Minjae, anytime after she had seen the little boy she had come home pouting whining about M’s best friend was so mean and didn’t let her have any one on one time with Minjae (the few times M had been there it was more Minah who wouldn't let go of her son) but was interrupted by the over timer ringing out loudly. “Crap,” M said.
“New plan you answer the door and i get the cakes out of the oven?” Sungjae suggested as M nodded muttering a quick thank you as he raced to the door only to almost crash into his wife.
“What’s the rush?” Jane chuckled, eyebrow cocked up in amusement. “And nice bag,”  she teased pointing to Astrid’s backpack that was hanging off his shoulder.
“I just figured you’d want to spend some time with Minah and Minjae before the rest of the kids show up,” M muttered looking down sheepishly.
“You are so cute,” Jane said wrapping her arms around M neck and pulling him down for a kiss.
“Yes M is very cute, open the door,” A deep voice called out behind the door, ruining the moment entirely. Jane rolled her eyes muttering of course it’s them. M sighed giving her a sympathetic smile as he moved to open the door.
“Hello Mr M and Mrs M,” Oliver greeted Jane and himself. “Oli made you these to say thank you for letting Oli stay tonight,” he said handing M a container of what looked like choc chip cookies. Jane moved coming to stand beside M, smiling down at the young boy before looking up and narrowing her eyes at his father’s.
“Why thank you Oli,” M said with a small smile handing the cookies to Jane. “You didn’t have to back us cookies though we are happy to have you here,” M said the younger boy who beamed. “Milo, Charlie and Astrid are in the backyard playing on the jumping castle,” M said, smirking as the younger boy's face lit up and he began to vibrate on the spot.
“Daddy? Appa?” Oli said, turning to his fathers looking for permission. “Can Oli go on the jumping castle too?” he asked before pouting. “Oli means can Oli go on the jumping castle too pleabes?” he asked sweetly. Jane leaned her head on M’s shoulder a soft aww escaping her lips. Daniel nodded as Oli grinned, “Where is the backyard?” Oli asked.
“How about i show you,” Jane offered, crouching down so she was on eye level with Oli who eyes darted back to his father’s unsure. Tyler nudged Oli forward a little giving him an encouraging smile. “You can tell me about how you made these yummy looking cookies,” she said holding her hand out. Oli nodded reluctantly, slipping his hand into Jane’s.
Silence fell over the three men as the watched Jane and Oli walk down the hallway.  “If you both have time you are more than welcome to come in for a bit,” M offered Daniel and Tyler, “Minah, Sungjae and Minjae are here though -” he said trying not to laugh at the way Daniel’s face soured.
“Oh we are bu-” Daniel started to say but was cut off by his husband
“I suppose we can stay until Ella and Tara show up,” he said as Daniel glared at him. “Plus we need to explain some base rules when it comes to Oliver,”he said stepping into the house. M nodded, so far Oli had only gone to sleepovers at Mark and Tara’s so this was a big step. He was proud, he knew he shouldn't be but it was nice that Tyler and Daniel trusted Jane and himself to look after their son.
“We got your list,” M said, a few days that had got an email with a very detailed list of rules when it comes to Oli. “But that is fine,” he said. He knew how nervous he was the first time Milo stayed over at a friends house. “Is that Oli’s bag?” he asked gesturing to a rather large Gucci backpack with an adorable dragon key chain. “I was just going to take the kids bags up to their rooms so if you want i can take it off you,” he said to Tyler who raised an eyebrow before grinning and handing it to M.
M’s eyes widened as he felt the weight of the backpack, seriously did those two pack their entire house in this bag. He looked over to see Tyler smirking at him as he stepped into the house.
“We weren’t sure what you had here so we covered all bases,” Daniel explained as he followed his husband into M’s home. M took a deep breathe as lugged the bag in, at least he was getting his arm workout in for the day. “Minah is in the living room and the last time i saw Sungjae he was in the kitchen,” M told the pair. “I’ll be right back,” he said to them as he moved towards the stairs. “Make yourself at home,” he said.
He didn’t stay too listen but the two started bickering among themselves, about what M didn’t know and he wasn’t sure what he wanted to know.
---
When M came downstairs he didn’t expect to find Astrid sitting at the counter, head in hands, eyes glued to the freshly baked cupcakes. “You aren’t planning on eating them all?” he asked as Astrid jumped up swirling around to glare at M.
“No,” Astrid huffed. “And you shouldn’t sneak up on people Uncle M,” she said, shaking her head disappointedly. .
“You’re right,” M agreed, coming to sit on the stool next to her. “So,” he said, nudging her lightly. “What are we doing?” he asked, stretching his arms out in front of him.  Astrid let out a huff in annoyance.
“Okay you don’t want to talk about it,” M said softly. “Have you seen Oli yet?” he asked, changing the subject. “His dad’s dropped him off just before,” he said.
“I did,” Astrid nods,”We played for a little bit but -” she sighed. “Uncle M, i think i am having a midwife christmas,” Astrid said shaking her head. M bit the inside of his cheek to stop him laughing, it was clear that his goddaughter was going through something but there was something inherently hilarious about a three-year-old claiming they were having a mid-life crisis.
“Midlife crisis sweetie,” M corrected. “And why do you feel like that? Has something happened?” he asked, Astrid frowned sucking in a deep breath. M eyed her carefully reaching over to rub soothing circles on her back. “It’s okay,” he said softly.
“Minjae happened,” Astrid huffed. “I thought having a little brother would be fun,” she pouted. “But he never plays with me, all he does is cry and eat and he is all smelly,” she ranted. “Maybe if he was a little sister it would be better -” she says. “Charlie is Milo’s little sister and she is awesome,”  she pouted.
“Wanna know a secret?” M said, grinning as Astrid nodded enthusiastically. Astrid was a great lover of secrets but a terrible keeper of secrets. “Don’t tell anyone but everyone used to a smelly baby who eats and cries all the time,” M whispered. Astrid’s face morphed into an all too familiar frown. “Even you,” M said.
“No,” Astrid huffed. “I was not,” she said strictly.
“Yes you were i even have proof,” M said as Astrid brows furrowed and eyes narrowed as she glared at me. “Once upon a time, a long long time ago, about three - almost four years, a wise king named M and his beautiful queen Jane were at home in their castle playing with a baby prince Milo waiting for princess Charlotte to arrive when there was a loud knock at the door,”  he said dramatically. “It was lord Sungjae and his wife with their new baby daughter lady Astrid,” he said.
“No i should be the princess, why are you the king my daddy should be the king,” Astrid ranted.
“My house, My story - I’m king, “ M said childishly sticking his tongue out at Astrid. “Anyway lady Astrid was adorable, not as adorable as Prince Milo of course,” he said making Astrid poke him. “But very very cute,” he added. “But no matter how cute she was, she was still a baby so she hadn’t learned to do all the cool stuff,” he said sounding disappointed.  “But as time went on Lady Astrid grew into the amazing little lady sitting next to me,” he said.
“Uncle M , don’t take this wrong but that was a terrible story,” Astrid said rolling her eyes.
“How else could i take that?” M asked with a laugh. “The point is look at how great you turned out with no helping now think about it if you help Minjae out when he grows up how cool he will be,” he said.
Astrid turned, fingers tapping against the counter as she hummed. “So you are saying i should train Minjae?” Astrid said. M opened his mouth to tell her that wasn’t what he meant. “I suppose i can do that, he is cute sometimes -” she said more to herself. “And if i have Minjae on my side i will be unbeatable. He can handle Mummy while I deal with Daddy,” she said.
M tilted his head this conversation didn’t go exactly the way he had planned but you know what he was going to count this as a win. “Sure as long as you don’t use your power against your favourite uncle,” he said pointing to himself.
“Well my favourite Uncle would let me have a cupcake now,” Astrid said spinning back around. “Uncle Woo would and Uncle Suho would bring me a whole bakery,” she said in a sing-song voice.
“That’s because your Uncle doesn’t know how to cook,” M said with an eye roll. “Plus i am the king of this house so i declare that i am your favourite uncle,” he said huffing proudly ignoring Astrid’s that isn’t how it works Uncle M. “Now where does Lady Astrid want to go? Back to Prince Milo and Princess Charlie’s jumping castle?” M asked standing up and holding his hand out.
“Hmm i will but first i am going to say bye to Minjae and get Mummy and Daddy out of here before the embarrass me in front of Oli and his dad’s.” Astrid said with all the nuisance a three year old could muster. M chuckled, Sungjae and Minah were going to have fun with her when she grows up.

Jimin woke up with his face pressed against a soft pillow and a huge headache forming. He furrowed his eyebrows as he awoke, noticing that his arm was around something.
Very carefully, he ran his hand over the surface. With startled revelation, he realized that he was feeling the smooth curves of a body. His heart sped up without knowledge.
Where was he? What had he done last night?
He had definitely gotten drunk, that could be assured thanks to the throbbing pain behind his eyebrows. But just how drunk would he have to be to take a woman to bed? He never did that. He wouldn’t. He was engaged.
Hesitant, he peaked one eye open to see who he had his arm around. A huge sigh of relief escaped him as he realized it was your waist his hand was on, and it was fully clothed.
He was fully clothed as well, he just realized, which meant that the two of you more than likely didn’t do anything.
A not-so-unfamiliar urge stirred up in Jimin’s chest. He suddenly wanted to pull you closer to him.
His mind raced as he wondered what it would feel like to have you pressed against him, trusting him enough to sleep soundly in his arms.
Without much thought, Jimin turned on his side and grabbed your waist. He pulled you close enough to him that he could feel your back against his chest and his warm breath fan his own face after bouncing off your neck.
You were still sleeping, and Jimin could feel the tenseness in your shoulders. He wondered why you were so stressed.
As if it were the most natural thing in the world, Jimin dared to press a kiss against your bare shoulder. Your skin felt warm against his lips and he liked the feeling so much he kissed you again. And again. And again.
A tired giggled escaped your lips, and Jimin’s heart fluttered at the sound. “Stop,” you mumbled. “That tickles.”
Jimin obliged, and settled instead for rubbing circles into your hip with his thumb. Finally, he pressed his face into the crook of your neck and fell asleep.
-
You awoke with a start, due to the pair of arms secured around your waist. Usually, if arms were around your waist, it meant you were being attacked, interrogated under the trope that you hadn’t really kept your side of the bargain.
You turned around (with a struggle, mind you), ready to attack your attacker. Only, you were met by Jimin’s sleeping face.
Memories from last night came to you in intervals, each one sadder than the last. All you could see now when you looked at the prince was a vulnerable and scared man, struggling to make his country a better place.
He was drunk when he told you everything. Therefore, until he remembered, it would be in your best interests to keep it a secret from him.
You relaxed a bit, your face falling into the plush pillow as you stared at the prince. His hair was long, perhaps in need of a routine cut. The pale strands brushed across his forehead in soft waves. There were worry lines on his smooth forehead, which was the sole reason for his pursed lips.
What was he dreaming about? Was he even dreaming? You wondered if he was thinking about his father, or the trouble with the kingdom.
You wanted to help him. The only way to do that was keep him alive.
You needed to go back to Krull and visit that man. You’d have to explain everything before it was too late.
With a contented sigh, you stared at the prince a few moments more, taking in every detail you could. Gently, you reached up and kissed his forehead, hoping to smooth any worry lines.
This might be something you could get used to every morning, if you ever did, say, marry the prince for real.
Your biggest problem now was how to get the people of Krull to believe that he was a good man. He was nothing like the king and didn’t plan on becoming like him any time soon.
Slowly, you pushed yourself out of Jimin’s hold and climbed out of bed. The king wasn’t there to stop you from leaving. He wasn’t there to hurt Jimin for letting you go. If there was any time to visit Krull and set things straight, it was now.
So you got dressed and left the prince alone, sleeping soundly.
-
Jimin ran out of your bedroom, nearly knocking Minah down in the process. He held her by the shoulders, a panicked look on his face, “Please tell me you know where Y/n is.”
“She’s in Krull,” Minah said calmly, struggling to keep from smiling at the absolute concern in the prince’s face. “Jeongguk took her to go finish some errands.”
“What errands?” Jimin asked. “Can I go too?”
Minah smiled, “Are you forgetting you’re still injured?”
Jimin groaned. Indeed, in all his worry of waking up alone, he had forgotten all about the wounds on his back. Now, thinking about them, he could still feel their faint sting. “Okay, but after these get cleaned can we please go to Krull to pick up my wife?”
“Your wife?” Minah rose her eyebrows and smirked. “She’s only your fiancée, Your Highness.”
The prince’s face flushed and he let out a nervous chuckle. He scratched the back of his neck and shook his head, “Ah, it was just a slip of the tongue. Don’t tell Y/n I said it.”
“I won’t.” Minah made a locking motion at the corner of her lips and threw the metaphorical key behind her shoulder. “C'mon. You can eat breakfast while I rewrap your wounds. Y/n will be back later, and you can see her then.”
Jimin obeyed grudgingly. Then, “Did Y/n eat this morning?”
“Yes. We ate together until Jeongguk finished his morning chores and was able to take her out.”
“Did you and Jeongguk hang out last night?”
“Not really.” Minah shrugged. “We did some sword fighting together, but other than that we just went to sleep early.”
Jimin sighed, “I’ll talk to my dad and see if I can fix your schedules and give you guys more free time.”
“No,” Minah protested, “don’t bring any of that up to His Majesty. It’s nothing to worry about.”
“Are you sure?”
“I’m sure.” Minah smiled at him. “Now sit down and I’ll make you breakfast.”
“Can’t I help you make it?”
Minah stopped, “I would like that, actually. Thank you.”
-
You walked into the Jung Inn after making sure Jeongguk promised to stay inside of the carriage until you returned. It wouldn’t take that long, you were sure.
He agreed, on the condition that if you weren’t out within an hour, he was allowed to come in and make sure you were safe.
You walked into the inn and made your way over to the corner where the man was always sitting. He was there, as predicted, and gave you a twisted smile when you sat down across from him.
“Have you got what we need?” He asked, anticipation clear in his voice.
“Actually, I need to speak with you about something,” you said. “I don’t think the prince is as bad as the king.”
He narrowed his eyes. It suddenly occurred to you that you didn’t know his name. At all. He had never told you. This particular moment seemed like a bad time to ask, however, so you kept your mouth shut.
“What are you trying to say? Do I need someone else to do your job?”
“No!” you protested, “I just think that, after spending time with the royal family—”
“You’re on their side?!” The man scoffed. “That’s why we shouldn’t have brought a young girl into this. You’ve fallen in love with the prince and now you want to try and become a princess, don’t you?”
“That’s not it,” you spoke through gritted teeth. “and I’m an adult capable of making logical decisions outside of my emotions, alright? I still agree with you that the king should be taken off the throne, but I’m trying to tell you that the prince would help Krull if he was on the throne.”
“So would Chanyeol.”
“Okay, look,” you said, “Jimin has told me his plans as a king, and I trust him to take care of Krull.”
“No, you trust him to take care of you. As long as you’re the queen, it won’t make a difference who is the next king. You’ll have a nice bed to sleep in either way.”
You slapped the table in exasperation and hissed, “If you think for a second that I’m going to let all those children outside starve and die while I am playing princess than you’ve got everything wrong. Now listen to me!”
“Look, kid, I don’t like the idea of killing someone so young, so I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt. I’ll take you to meet my boss, and he’ll decide if you’re telling the truth.”
“Fine,” you said. “Take me to him. What’s his name?”
“Min Yoongi.”
You stilled. The man smiled.
With a stutter, you managed to speak, “Isn’t he a dark mage?”
“Yes, is that a problem?”
“N-No,” you said, “I just didn’t know I was working for someone who deals with dark magic. That’s a bit much, isn’t it?”
“Yoongi is a respectable man. He knows what he’s doing. He recently had a vision, and through it he came up with this whole plan. If you can convince him he’s wrong, he may change his mind, otherwise, his assassins will kill the prince no matter what.”
“I’ll convince him,” you promised.
You had to. The prince’s life was in your hands.
-
You found out his name. It was Barron. You found out because Hoseok caught you two leaving, and invited himself along. Apparently, Hoseok knew the names of everyone in Krull and Eden alike, since Barron came from the latter.
Barron led you two out the back of the inn, after you convinced him not to go out front. You didn’t want Jeongguk to know anything about your motives and schemes. Even if they were for the prince now, you weren’t sure how to explain that to Jeongguk.
You and Hoseok followed Barron down a few back roads, until you came to the back of a nearby building. “Isn’t this Mr. Blu’s shoe shop?”
“Have you ever been inside?”
“No.”
“And has anyone in this town ever bought shoes?”
“I don’t think so,” you had to answer. “So it’s fake?”
“Well, not necessarily. Blu does sell shoes, but he also practices curses. Yoongi lives above him.”
You were a bit apprehensive about meeting a mage, let alone one who practiced dark magic. Perhaps he would not be as ornery as you thought. Perhaps he would be nice to you and understanding of your dilemma.
-
The shoe shop looked nothing like a shoe shop at all, but it definitely didn’t look like a dark mage would live there either. It was a comfy-looking living room, covered in thick wool blankets. There were candles on every end table, making the room a potential fire hazard. Not to mention, it smelt like a mixture of lavender and blueberries.
The smell made you inwardly groan in hunger. It had to be around lunchtime, and you hadn’t eaten anything since the toast Minah gave you that morning.
You and Hoseok followed Barron past all of that, towards a staircase half-hidden behind the wall. “Yoongi should be home. He likes to stay indoors and practice spells all the time.”
“Is he dangerous?” Hoseok dared to ask.
“Everyone is, if you want to get technical,” gruffed Barron.
You rolled your eyes, “I didn’t peg you as the sarcastic type.”
“You’ve never talked to me outside of murder plans.”
“Touché.”
Up the stairs, there was an open-concept room. As if the living room, kitchen, and bedroom were wrapped up into one. Only, there was no furniture in sight, save a single chaise made of black velvet.
Upon that chaise laid a man who looked innocent at first glance. His face was round, and small snores escaped his thin lips. His feathery black hair lay across his forehead. You could almost swear there were little bits of maroon glitter in it.
He wore a red tailcoat over a white dress shirt. His black pants were held against his waist with with red waistband. He looked like a rich patron from Eden, not a poor mage from Krull.
“Is that him?” you asked the old man.
“That’s Yoongi. Not many people can wake him up.”
Hoseok scoffed, “How hard can it be, honestly.”
He strode up to the chaise and squatted down beside the young man. Hoseok used the tactic he used when he used to wake you up as a child: he poked Yoongi’s cheek.
The mage furrowed his eyebrows and mumbled something under his breath.
Without a warning, Hoseok’s finger began to swell. It turned blue and engorged at the tip, frightening your best friend into screaming his head off. “Change it back!” he shouted at the sleeping man.
Yoongi only peaked one eye open and muttered another spell, causing Hoseok’s other four fingers to begin growing at an alarming rate as well.
You weren’t sure why Hoseok had so much courage to do what he did next, but alas, he did it anyway. He jumped on the mage and began slapping his face over and over.
Yoongi finally sat up, having grabbed both of Hoseok’s wrists. His glare scared everyone in the room, for it seemed that his irises were turned the same dark obsidian as his pupils.
Hoseok did the only thing one can do when a dark mage is holding both of your arms. He head-butted Yoongi with so much force that the mage’s eyes rolled to the back of his head and he lay there, slumped against the back of the chaise.
Hoseok’s hand returned to normal. “I can’t believe I just did that,” he moaned. “I’m dead. Actually dead. He’s going to kill me.”
“No, he won’t,” Barron consoled Hoseok with a rather rough pat on the back. “Yoongi hates being woken up. If anything, he’ll thank you for letting him sleep longer.”
-
Well, Barron was wrong, and Yoongi was absolutely not thankful that Hoseok let him “sleep” longer.
You had managed to get him to sit down, far away from Hoseok, who was cowering in the corner with his hands behind his back.
Yoongi sat on his chaise with a bag of ice pressed against his head. He glared at you, “You’re the one who was sent to kill the king and prince?”
“I was sent to steal information,” you corrected, “not to kill.”
“Whatever you want to call it, sweetie. You’re helping us kill them. Their blood will be forever on your hands.” Yoongi smirked.
“That’s why I came,” you clarified, “I believe that the prince shouldn’t be killed. The king: do whatever you want. The prince, however, isn’t against us.”
Yoongi scoffed, “I can’t believe you want to protect Jimin.”
“Prince Jimin,” you snapped. “And I promise you I was ready to kill him just as much as you were, until he told me his plans for Krull. He wants to make it equal to Eden.”
Yoongi nodded, “So you believe anything he says?”
“No. But I believe he will genuinely work to help restore Krull to a better place.”
“You can believe all you want, but I’m not gullible, nor am I naive. The prince has just as much power as the king, and he could put his plans into place now, if he really wanted to.”
“No, he can’t,” you said, “the king is a tyrant and he’ll hurt Jimin if he tries to help us.”
Yoongi stood up. “You know, a true prince would take the risk for his people. If there is no change in Krull before the wedding, I will send my assassins in to kill both of them.”
You sighed in frustration. Jimin could actually die if he tried to turn over a law that helped Krull. There was no way you were willing to put him at that risk. So what are you supposed to do?
“Please just kill the king,” you said in a panic. “Jimin will pass the laws as soon as his father is dead.”
Yoongi averted his eyes and spoke in a low voice, “Look, Y/n, I believe you. I believe that the prince is a genuinely good person who wants to help Krull. But he’s a coward. What’s gonna happen when an adversary comes looking for war against Eden, and Jimin cowards because he’s afraid? This isn’t just about Krull. We need to be under good leadership. Chanyeol has actively made visits to Krull to give out food and supplies. He has shown character that Jimin doesn’t have, alright? I wish there was a way to keep him off the throne that doesn’t involve killing, but there isn’t. If he doesn’t step up to his father, I won’t stop my orders.”
You turned your gaze down. “Yes… I suppose that’s fair, actually.”
Yoongi smiled slightly, “I hope he gains courage, for your sake.”
“Thanks,” you mumbled. You stood up and held out your hand, “Let’s go, Hobi. I want to stay with you tonight.”
You were tired and hurt. It felt like you were five years old again, aching to crawl into your mother’s arms and have her hold you. She was no longer here, so your longing switched to Hoseok.
He squeezed your hand comfortably. “I’ll return you to the castle in the morning.”
Tears escaped the corners of your lips, and you couldn’t speak for fear of letting out a sob, so you simply nodded and let him lead you out of the old shoe shop.
-
Jeongguk returned to the castle that night alone. He ran into Jimin’s room, where the prince was busy with more forms and documents.
Jimin looked up from his work and smiled, “Is Y/n back?”
“No, Your Highness,” Jeongguk breathed. “She left.”
“What?” Jimin stood up, his eyes wide with fear.
“I let her go for an hour, but it’s been all day and she didn’t return. I looked for her everywhere, Sir. She’s disappeared.”
Jimin strode across the room and picked up his coat. He wrapped it around his shoulders, “Take me to Krull.”
“I’m sorry, Sir. I should’ve stayed with her.” Jeongguk struggled to keep up with Jimin’s quick steps.
“It’s fine,” Jimin said shortly, “I told you to give her some freedom. She could be in danger, though. She’s told me before that there are dangerous men in Krull. I won’t rest until she’s found.”
“Yes, Your Highness.”
- to be continued -

For a change, review or criciticize lead singers of girl groups like Solji of EXID, Minah of Girls Day, Hyorin of Sistar, Gayoung of Stellar, Uji of Bestie and others.
Hello. Before addressing this very interesting proposal, I do want to update readers that I am doing well and that reviews are coming although slowly. I happen to be quite busy with university, hence the current delays. Thankfully, for tomorrow I have set aside around four hours to focus on finishing two requested reviews. (And to those requesters, I greatly apologize for this delay.)
As for this proposed reviewing idea, this would definitely be a fun task. Pondering over this, it definitely is possible that I “review” a specific idol for their vocals, but there are many reasons for why I hesitate to do such. For one–and by far the biggest reason–while the vocals in a song are definitely important (for my reviews, that is) and are an aspect I greatly focus on, to write a review that purely focuses on such and thus goes into much depth would be impossible for me to do. Or at least, if I were to do a genuinely decent job. To critique and analyze purely vocals would mean I would have to become extremely knowledgeable about singing in of itself. As readers can tell from a majority if not all my reviews, when I discuss the vocals in a song it is exactly that: in a song. I critique the singing and rapping in the context of the song itself. To instead critique vocals in its own individual context would be vastly different and admittedly is an area I still need learning and experience in. What constitutes “good singing” versus “good singing in this particular song” are different, after all.
On that note, we also run into the issue of how reviewing a certain idol’s singing is heavily based on the songs they have been given to sing in the first place. For example–and apologies if I somehow upset fans–let us consider TWICE’s main vocalist, Jihyo. If I were to “review” her singing, from my current knowledge of songs she has sung before, it would be relatively neutral if not somewhat negative. Now if I were to review, say, Ailee, her review would be full of excessive praises. Although this is a poor example given that Ailee genuinely is a very solid vocalist and by far above many other idols (or at least from what we can tell), the main point is this: many of Ailee’s songs have been composed as either ballads–a genre that is incredibly vocal-orientated–or as songs that contain strenuous vocals. In Jihyo’s case, many of TWICE’s songs are minimally strenuous with vocals and for the most part are not vocally-orientated at all.
Now we come to the question I throw at those who blindly bash artists’ singing: if Ailee were to sing “Cheer Up” by TWICE, would she be the Queen Vocalist Ailee as we know it? Less critical people would easily scream, “Yes!” but this is where I disagree: Ailee–despite her amazing skills–would actually sound mediocre because that is how “Cheer Up” is composed to sound with the vocals. “Cheer Up” is not intended to have amazing note holds, vocal beltings, vocal layering, and so on. The vocals in that song have been purposefully composed to be merely catchy–no amount of singing skills would “fix” the issues we see in the composition. And yes, we could play the circling game of claiming the composition to “Cheer Up” is weak (if TWICE fans are upset at me saying such, please do send in a request for the song so I can respectfully and critically explain why I believe that song is poorly composed) because TWICE are incapable of more strenuous songs, but this is besides the point and I have already addressed this “circling debate” in the ladies’ reviews. (In short, we do not know the true answer until we actually hear TWICE’s vocals at their true capacity, and of which would have to be elicited from a song that requires complex vocals.)
In other words, the message I am trying to get across is that an idol’s vocals is very much dictated by what she sings; if an idol is only given mediocre pop songs then he will seemingly sound like a weaker singer, but on the other hand, if he is given amazingly composed ballads, we can expect his vocals to sound more alluring. Perhaps a genuine example of what I am discussing is Hyorin’s “Paradise.” Readers should check the review to see what I mean, but in that review if I recall correctly, I gave a lower vocal rating despite Hyorin in general proving to be a stellar vocalist. It is this risk that makes me hesitate to firmly review idols’ singing.
Onto this proposal itself now, I will give a clear answer: I doubt I will “review” idols’ singing due to what is mentioned above. However, I love this proposal’s idea and thus will easily accept it but with a twist: rather than reviewing an idol’s singing–an implication that I will be critiquing their vocals and skills in of themselves and assigning a position on their skills–I would be open to merely analyzing and discussing an idol’s singing as seen in their song releases. Though it seems minor, I argue it is incredibly important (in this case) to maintain these distinctions. I can only truly review and analyze if within the context of a song–and rightfully so as discussed above with not every idol having the chance to show off her/his best vocals–and I would only be discussing their vocals versus having to leave a “rating” or a position if it were a review.
Overall, thank you so much for this idea and thank you for truly igniting my passion (as we can see by how much I have to say over a seemingly small topic). In summary, I will definitely adopt your idea and give it a try, but I will modify it in a way so that it works with my inexperience of analyzing purely vocals, and so that it acknowledges how idols’ perceived singing abilities are oftentimes tied to their songs. Nevertheless, thank you so much for this idea; it truly is one I never thought of but it is one that would definitely provide a lot of variety and even insight into K-Pop beyond its superficial layer. After I finish up current requested reviews (and a few regular reviews), look forward to these bonus vocal analyses write-ups to occur.

Evy | 22 Months
Keeping up with family pictures is something that I really love to do. It makes me so happy to have beautiful images of Evy and our life together. However, when you’re pregnant with a baby that is not going to survive and each day it feels like a success just to get out of bed, editing and organizing your monthly family photos just can’t happen. I hated falling behind in business but I REALLY hated falling behind on family stuff like this. I knew that it was just a season… and while I was still taking photos, I wasn’t editing them. I was just doing my best to document the happy moments when I could and I hoped that, one day, I could get caught up again.
Well, over New Years, I worked really hard and now I am completely caught up on our family photos from 2018. Not only did I edit all of our photos, I actually switched to a new gallery system that is absolutely amazing and all of my 2018 personal photos are organized by month. Not only are they organized for me, because of the way that this gallery system works, I was able to send custom gallery links to different members of my family with just their images inside… and it wasn’t any extra work. I’m seriously so relieved and thankful and excited about this new part of my workflow personally and professionally. If you are a photographer and you want to know more about this change, I may blog about it soon!
So, this is a MASSIVE blog post and if you feel like you can’t make it through all of these images and you’re wondering “Why in the world would she blog so many pictures”…. I’m doing this because it makes me happy. I love saving the story of our life online! I was doing posts like this every month when Evy was younger but today, I’m catching up from June to the end of DECEMBER! That’s half a year’s worth of memories to share!!
So what do I want to remember from this season of our life? Well, it was so joyful but also so hard. These images capture the JOY that helped us make it through our months right after losing James. We were so relieved that we had survived, but I know for me, once August hit, I felt the weight of what we lived through. The joy of Evy and Micah was the greatest gift to us. They kept us entertained and laughing! Also, seeing Evy grow and change was a reminder that we can have healthy children and it was ok to hope again.
In August, I found out that I was pregnant again. We were so thankful but we also held the hope of this pregnancy very loosely during the first trimester because we knew that my body has just been through a lot and that there is always a chance of loss. However, as we moved into October and got closer and close to the 12 week mark, we started to allow ourselves to celebrate this new baby without as much reservation. We told the world in October and we have been so thankful to have healthy, normal ultrasounds ever since.
June through December were full of new things. Evy and Micah started talking up a storm! Their personalities really let loose and they started fighting like siblings. Lots of hair pulling and biting and screaming…. but also a lot of hugging, kisses and wanting to see each other all of the time. They both started Gymnastics in September and it’s a blast! They love coloring, play dough, playing with the hose on the front porch, reading books, going on walks to see the horses and playing in the basement!!
I wish I could remember all of the hilarious things that Evy started saying from June to December  but I can at least share the things we’re loving right now! :
Evy has started speaking in sentences: “Where Momma is?” “Momma why do dat?” “I did IT!!!!”
She has started calling Micah “MiCah” and not “MiNah” this month!
She loves talking about my sister’s baby’s name who is about to be born any week now!
She’s OBSESSED with “Baby Roe”… our best friend’s little girl. She wants to hold her, put her paci in, talk to her, etc.
She is really attached to her “Mean Man” book… that’s not what it’s called. It’s just a circus book with a mean circus owner in it and so she calls it “Mean Man”!
She walks around with a tiny miniature bible that was Michael’s when he was little and loves flipping through the pages. No pictures… just text. She loves it!
She’s not a fan of Bokeh Boy because he tries to steal her “num nums” (her snacks)
She calls milk “Mulk”
She has a hilarious name for our baby boy but we’ll have to wait to share that when we share his name!
She thinks the baby is in my chest, not my belly! ha!
Evy has started singing correct melodies to songs and learning more than just the verses. She can sing almost every word to “Do Re Mi”.
She loves Sound of Music and Daniel Tiger… Baby Margaret is her favorite!
She has been getting up at 6:30 or 7am…. sometimes we get lucky and it’s 7:20!
Michael gets up with her every morning and I’m so thankful for that because sometimes, mornings aren’t my favorite in pregnancy.
She LOVES climbing steps!
She loves swinging on things!
She is FAST when she runs but right now she prefers to HOP everywhere.
She currently isn’t in the best eating phase. I’m thankful she at least still eats broccoli, chicken salad and cucumbers! Everything else is pretty basic and toddler-ish: Pasta, grilled cheese, yogurt, nuggets, peanut butter, fruit, etc.
She says all of our family names except she won’t say “GRAND-Daddy”… just “Daddy” and she calls Grammie “Bobbi”… which is her first name. We need to work on the “GR” sound!
She makes the BEST faces!!!! Cracks us up!
She sings LOUDLY!!!!! At home, in public, on airplanes, in restaurants… haha
There is so much more to these past six months but I’ll leave it here because you have about 300 images to scroll through. So embarrassing!! But I just love it!! Enjoy!
Working with Mimi in the flowerbed… Working with Grandaddy on the minivan… This is their reaction listening to Whitney Houston!  Our trip to Florida with Michael’s family! Back to the lake for the Fourth! This is proof that I got up…. I just didn’t stay up. ha! Then we headed to Wisconsin with my family!  Daddy baptized my cousins Paige and Steph in the lake and it was the sweetest day… followed by a double rainbow! My cousin Paige had TWINS! And they are identical!! Just the cutest! Evy loved them!  Oh my….. Micah and Evy with their Mimi blankets! Bahahahaha!  We got a Grover visit at the lake!!! In September, we lost Michael’s beautiful Grandma. She was 90 years old and lived such a spunky, active and joy-filled life. All of the family was together and so we took a picture of all of the boy cousins because they have a picture like this from close to two decades ago…. back when Michael was the tallest! Evy’s face…. this picture gave us all some good laughs in our family group text!  In September we also started construction on the pool! It will be ready in April and we’re so excited! This was a celebration of an amazing year in business but also, it feels like a fun things for our family to enjoy after living through the hardest year of our life.  Play dough on the porch! They call this “Bo-do”!  The Gerald twins came to visit!  That face!  Aunt Sarah’s Christmas gift from us last year was horse lessons! She’s great at it!  Also, Evy had her first close encounter with a cat and it looks like she froze!  In October we announced baby number 3. I got pregnant three months after giving birth to James which is a lot physically but I’m currently 25 weeks and feel great. We’re so thankful for another chance at having a baby boy here on earth! This was Joe’s 30th birthday at the Pumpkin Patch!  Our 8th anniversary! We may have waited 6 years to start a family, but we have sure been through a lot in these last two years when it comes to babies. So thankful for Michael and the way he has loved me through all of the different mountaintops and valleys we have walked through. Evy and Knox got to go to the Safari Park in Lexington, VA!  I promise he had a good time! ha! She hated the birds!  Their first day of Gymnastics! Best investment of the fall! They LOVE Miss Holly and they are doing different tasks every week! It never gets old to them!  I included this one because Evy looks like she needs to pee and it’s cute!  Proud mom moment. This is her face when she says “Ummmmm… no momma”. Her new best girlfriend. She is obsessed with “Baby Roe”.  This is one of my favorite pictures of the year! Halloween!!!!! That image on the left? ha!!! We just wanted one decent picture!  Thanksgiving at our house!  Playing with Sarah’s sticks!  I love these portraits so much!  No idea what’s going on here!  Evy was having a hard day. Not the biggest snow fan! We celebrated Micah’s second birthday! “Christmas” morning on the 24th!  Christmas morning at our house!

Shaken not stirred
Included: Jane, Daniel, M Mentioned: Minah, Tyler
The Originals AU
Jane could feel eyes on her as soon as she stepped into the Menagerie, it was to be expected after all she stepping behind enemy lines. Tyler’s precious little ego had started yet another turf war and Daniel to her surprise didn’t back down from his challenge. She supposed it's a given, the last time she saw Daniel was centuries ago, it seemed even Tyler’s most loyal soldier knew when to jump ship. It’s a shame her best friend couldn’t see how useless loyalty to family like Tyler truly was.
Ignoring the whispers, curious glances and downright evil stares she made her way to the bar, noting the way the ocean of people seemed to part around her. It wasn’t a new feeling but it was because everyone was in awe of her not because she was a pariah. Sitting down on an empty bar stool, she was surprised to find the bartender was a human. She knew Daniel liked to invite humans to his little soiree but they usually were the drink not serving them.
“What can i get you?” The pretty little human asked. Jane quirked an eyebrow at the woman, an accent that would explain why this girl was seemingly so unaware of what was happening around her. That or she had been compelled to ignore everything. Either way, what a precarious situation the little human was in.
“A vodka martini,” Jane said glancing at the woman curiously as she made her drink, she was pretty, thin with brown eyes, brown hair and a flush to her pale skin but she was just missing a few appendages to be considered Daniel’s type so she wasn’t eye candy. Or so she thought until she noticed a man appear at the other end of the bar, his eyes flickering from Jane to the bartender. Ah, so she was eye candy after all.
“One vodka martini,” the bartender said as she handed Jane her drink.
“Thanks, cutie,” she said with a wink at the bartender who laughed in response. Jane smirked as she heard a growl, turning to Mr Growly and raising her glass. She knew shouldn’t be antagonizing anyone, after all she was just here for a night out but it was fun.
What was not fun was some newbie vampire with bright orange hair and tacky bohemian one-piece trying to hit her from behind. Jane frowned as some of her Martini spilled on her dress, how annoying. She counted to 10 in her mind to stop herself from ripping this bitch's head off, teasing was one thing but actual killing would take it too far - though given her ugly hair it might be considered a favour. “I am going to assume you are too mortified by your drunken antics that the apology is on its way,” she said wiping her dress.
“You shouldn’t be here, you and your family aren’t welcome here,” the orange-haired girl spat. Since Jane’s own family were long gone since she was going to assume that this deluded creature was talking about the Lee’s.
“Giselle if you are finished playing bouncer Joshua is looking for you,” And here was the other self-proclaimed king of New Orleans. Daniel Choi, of course physically he hadn’t changed but Jane could tell a Tyler free century had done wonders for him. Giselle scowled before sulking off back into the crowd. Leaving Jane with Daniel.
“Long time no see,” Jane offered.
“What are you doing here?” Now Jane was not expecting a warm welcome but the sheer amount of contempt in Daniel’s eyes surprised her. She supposed it was not wholly unexpected given Daniel and Tyler’s little turf war. A war Jane was silently hoping Daniel won.
“I’m bored, i need a drink and I’ve heard this is the best bar in this little city,” Jane listed off her fingers. “Look i just want to have a good time, you know i don’t get involved in these petty little battles, especially not on the behalf of Tyler Lee,” she stated.
“Oh yes i forgot about that you aren’t his biggest fan,” Daniel said tilting his head curiously at Jane. “Look I’m heading back to the VIP section you are more than welcome to come along,” he said swirling around and walking off in the opposite direction not even checking to see if Jane is following, either too indifferent or too arrogant to care. Jane considered following after him but considering one of his followers had attacked her she’d rather not get to know the rest of his crew.
Deciding to go the other direction Jane found herself heading to one of the building's many balconies. Unfortunately the balcony Jane ended up on was occupied by a mangled dead body, the scent of blood was strong enough that Jane’s eyes darkened and fangs began to ache. Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted what she assumed was the killer. Taking in the dishevelled appearance of the man, blood stains covered his skin and clothes, he rocked back and forth eyes not leaving the body. “Leave, it’s not safe,” he said.
Jane snorted in amusement, a baby vampire warning her to run. She considered just putting this kid out of his misery, some people just aren’t made to be vampires but she was bored. “Sweetie i could end you in a second,” Jane said taking a sip of her drink. “I take it you haven’t been a vampire for very long,” she said crouching down in front of him. She tilted her to the side, he was attractive. If she could get him cleaned up then he could be very handsome. The boy shook his head in response. “Okay baby, what is your name?”
“M”
“M? Listen i am sure know all about the Lee vs Choi feud but let's not do aliases,” Jane said rolling her eyes.
“It’s not, well i mean it is kinda, it’s a nickname,” The boy, M sputtered. “And are you one of them? I should go Danel will -” he stared panicking. Jane rolled her eyes snapping his neck, she couldn’t handle panicking she was here to have a good time. While waiting for M to wake up she tossed the dead body over the edge, M sucked her dry and it was just unsightly.
“Rise and shine,” Jane said at the sound of M stirring.
“You snapped my neck,” He growled.
“Yes and you woke right up so let's not do the dramatics or the whole panicking thing - yes i am friends with an Original and no it's not Tyler Lee,” Jane listed. “Does Daniel really have a no interacting rule?” she questioned a dry laugh escaping her lips. Perhaps she had given Daniel too much credit, he was Tyler’s protege after all.
“He doesn’t let me interact with anyone,” M murmured. Jane raised an eyebrow, why would Daniel care about who a baby vamp interacts with? Especially a baby vamp who is so unsuited to vampirism. “Don’t -”
“Don’t tell him you said anything? I am no snitch but i have to admit i am curious as to why he would care, are you fucking him?” Jane said bluntly. M was big, big height, big chest, big biceps, and big thighs, it would be a safe assumption that he was also big where it really mattered. It would make sense that Daniel would keep him as a pet from what she could remember he was a bit of a size queen.
“Fuck no,” M said automatically. Well, there goes that theory. “I am just a living warning,” M grumbled.
“Right,” Jane said slowly, she was curious as to whom M was a warning for but she was getting bored with playing twenty questions. “Well come on,” she said to him. “Get up, you are getting a once in a lifetime chance of learning how to feed from the legendary Jane Fraser,” she said.
“Who?”
“Me,” she said gesturing to herself. “See most people have more than just a letter for a name,” she explained.
“I am not allowed to leave,” M said. “He’ll know,” Jane couldn’t help but roll her eyes. How tragic, being afraid of Daniel Choi.
“Well, then we will just have to have class here then,” Jane shrugged. “There are plenty of idiots in there,” she said nodding towards the door. “We will get you some clean clothes then i’ll teach you the proper way to feed,” she sighed. “No one likes a messy eater M,” she added.
