Yeah, uh… Yeah. Ever since we… You remember the part when I went in the bear, and I— with the ax? Ever since that I've kind of felt, or I guess not felt is sort of more of a thing, like I kind of just don't feel anything? All the time. Like I don't feel like I'm a person? But there are these little brief moments where something breaks through. Like when somebody hurts me or when I hurt somebody and I don't… It's this weird thing where like my brain, I don't like doing them, but it's like the only thing that's like, “hey, you're still here!” And hurting somebody or killing somebody… it's bad. It's bad, right? It's bad. It's a thing we shouldn't want to do. But it feels good to me in the moment, because it just makes this binary, like, “you're here, you're not here”. And if I could do that to somebody or if I get hurt, then it's like, “I'm here!” It's like this proof that I'm still here, and that I'm real. There's just nobody I can… There's really nobody I can talk to about this. The other kids are kind of… Maybe Terry? Maybe not, I don't know. My dad's a nice guy. He's really, he's smart and he's strong and he leads everybody, and… But, he's never— The whole time I've known my dad he's never come off as like… I've never seen him scared. I've never seen him cry. I've never seen him— Like, he met my mom when they were in grade school. He just hasn't had the same kind of experience that I've had. He sort of got the thing that mattered the most to him early on in life, and then he just sort of… I don't want to say coasted because his life has been decently difficult, but like, his dad was really good and I can't really relate to him. And I feel embarrassed to talk about this stuff, or the fact that I have feelings for somebody or whatever.

hello mewants to stick my fingers through the enclosure bars. what's either your mischaracterisation/behaviour pet peeve you don't like in the fandom, or if you don't want to be a negative nancy, what's your favourite tidbit about the mercs that you want to see more in fandom content?

Uhhhhhh honestly ive been doing my best not to be a huuuge asshat about fandom mischaracterizations lately bc ive found that the vibe has sort of just put a damper on my ability to enjoy things (being to worried that IM the guy mischaracterizing characters and im being judged for having fun etc etc) BUT its still fun to talk about so long as i dont get all pretentious about it so let me dig around in my brain.

Uhhh i dont really have any specific ones off the top of my head… i think recently ive just not really been vibing with like. The counter-woobification process of characters. Like, when people see a character being babied by the fandom (for traits they do or don’t have) and decide to respond to it by exaggerating the character in the opposite direction. Mischaracterization but “edgy.” Medic’s not your yaoi soft boy hes actually a stone-cold intimidating manipulator, spy isn’t an overprotective guilt ridden dad he actually doesn’t give a shit about scout, this character wouldnt [exaggerated positive trait] they’d actually [exaggerated negative trait.] this isn’t a specific to tf2 thing or even anything that new but its just sort of. Fascinating to watch happen from a distance.

uhhh as for favorite tidbits… idk i feel like we as a society need to appreciate that snipers just kind of a guy who does his job. Like yes hes a weirdo he pisses in jars and snipes people i get it i get it but also when i rewatch his meet the merc video im always just kind of fascinated by how casual he is. Like he talks like a guy i could strike up a conversation with while waiting in line at a store. also like. “Be polite. Be efficient. Have a plan to kill everyone you meet.” Out of these things i feel like “be polite” gets overlooked the most. This is the merc who routinely calls his parents and tips his hat off to people he kills. It just feels like an underutilized part of his personality.

i've been rewatching the stream where george texts dream's mom and i'm heartbroken by a moment that i've completely forgotten about... george asks dream what his mom said about him having a boyfriend AND dream's like "she knows you're joking she's not STUPID" and george goes "oh... oh." with the saddest voice ever and it makes mewant to die forever like no wonder i chose to forget about that moment
