WEEKLY REVIEW (9/30-10/6)
A very boiled down summary of the official Court Circular, mentioning only the the major members of the family.
SEPT 30, 2019
- The Earl of Wessex represented the Queen and Prince Phillip at the funeral of President Chirac in Paris, France. Prince Edward also attended a Dinner of Coutts in London as Patron of British Ski and Snowboard Limited.
- Prince Harry visited a memorial cairn and laid a wreath in the Liwonde National Park, Milawi. He later received a briefing on counter-poaching operations and then viewed a counter-poaching demo by African Parks Rangers and the 2nd Battalion Royal Ghurka Rifles. He later unveiled the The Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy (which, according to Wikipedia is a network of forest conservation programmes throughout the 53 countries of the Commonwealth). He ended the night by attending an African Parks Dinner inside the Liwonde National Park.
- Duchess of Sussex aka Meghan Markle visited Victory Yards in Johannesburg, South Africa.
OCT 1, 2019
- The Duke of Cambridge held a meeting for the Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Both William and Kate then held a reception at Kensington Palace for the finalists of BBC Radio One’s Teen Hero Awards.
- The Duke of Sussex visited Mauwa Health Centre and met representatives from Pharmacy in a Box and Tsogolo Langa Youth Reproductive Health Outreach programme.
- The Duchess of Sussex attended a round table discussion at the University of Johannesburg as patron of the Association of Commonwealth Universities. She then visited a gender-based violence education club and met with representatives from ActionAid South Africa and the Teddybear’s Clinic.
- The Duke of York visited the Royal Flying Doctor Service in Perth, Western Australia. He then visited the Special Air Service Regiment at Campbell Barracks, Swanbourne, Perth.
- The Earl of Wessex held receptions at St. James’s Palace for young people who have achieved the Gold Standard in the Award as trustee of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
- The Countess of Wessex visited Blackpool Grand Theater to mark its 125th anniversary. She visited the Blackpool Tower, the Promenade, Blackpool, to mark the 125th anniversary of its opening. Finishing her day with a visit to N. Vision, Flyde, and Wyre Society for the Blind.
- The Queen appointed Lt. Colonel Stephen Segrave to be an Extra Equerry to Her Majesty taking effect 1 Oct, 2019.
OCT 2, 2019
- Prince Charles, Duke of Rothesay opened the new headquarters of W.M. Donald Limited, Netherley and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Kincardinshire this morning.
- Prince Charles and The Duchess of Rothesay (aka Camilla) visited Dunnottar Castle, also visiting the Tolbooth Museum and Stonehaven Town.
- The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge called upon The Aga Khan at the Aga Khan Centre in London. Afterwards, they attended a reception at the same center displaying Pakistani culture. They received the High Commissioner of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and later the Duke alone received General Sir Nicholas Carter (Chief of the Defense Staff).
- The Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited the Youth Employment Services Hub in Johannesburg, South Africa. They called upon Mrs. Graca Machel at the residence Her Majesty’s Trade Commissioner for Africa. They attended a reception given by Her Majesty’s Trade Commissioner for Africa. They called upon The President of the Republic of South Africa and Dr. Tshepo Motsepe. Then, ending their South African tour, they returned to the U.K.
- The Duke of York, attended Pitch@Palace (he is the founder) Australia 3.0 Boot Camp at Murdoch University, Perth, Western Australia. That evening Prince Andrew attended a dinner given by the Governor of Western Australia.
- The Earl of Wessex held a reception at St. James’s Palace for young people who have achieved the Gold Standard Award (The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award). He held a luncheon at Buckingham Palace for The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation which he is Chairman of the Board of Trustees. He also held a dinner for the same foundation at Windsor Castle.
- The Countess of Wessex as Chairman for Women in Business Committee of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award visited McLaren Technology Center and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Surrey. She, as the Global Ambassador, International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness, also visited the Eye Clinic Liaison Services at Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, received by the Reverend Martin Hislop.
- The Princess Royal opened the Community Hub, Balallan Old School, Balallan, Isle of Lewis and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the Western Isles. Princess Anne visited Flannan Isles Memorial, Exhibition and Former Keepers’ Shore Station. She held a dinner as Chancellor, University of Edinburgh, at the Palace of Holyroodhouse and was received by HM’s Lord-Lieutenant of the City of Edinburgh.
OCT 3, 2019
- The Duke of Cambridge officially opened the H.B. Allen Centre in Oxford and was received by HM’s L-L of Oxfordshire. He then visited the Royal Air Force Brize Norton in Oxfordshire.
- The Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived at Heathrow Airport.
- The Duke of York visited the port at Port Hedland, Western Australia. Visited Fortescue Metals Group, Solomon Mine, Mount Sheila.
- The Earl of Wessex held a dinner and prize giving at Windsor Castle for International Golf for Youth, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Cup World Finals.
- The Countess of Wessex visited Lockerley Estate, East Tytherley, and was received by Mrs. Clare Scheckter in her capacity as Honorary President of Linking Environment and Farming. As patron of the Brendoncare Foundation, she visited Brendoncare in Alton. In the evening, she held a reception for the Breast Cancer Haven Guardians.
