Chuck Jones' directorial turning point has been alluded to on this blog for years, and has finally come at last--and what a turning point it is, as in his own words, Leon Schlesinger and New York exhibitors alike hated it! this sparks one of many in a series of Tedd Pierce (AKA Tom and Larry Dover) shorts written as an entire burlesque of a certain book, radio show, film or TV show--in this case, the turn of the century Rover Boys novels. whether it be the rich irony in every single crevice of this cartoon or animated distortions and pioneered techniques that quite literally have never been seen before in this extent, it's incredibly easy to see why this short has developed the cult following it has.
