Maybe it's just my perception of romance (which, safe to say, is not the cishet allo idea of romance at all) but I think there's more to Solas than just being an archetype in a romance storyline. There's so much to solavellan and the concept of the ship is beautiful but damn like every good thing it falls apart in the hands of some fans who, paradoxically, just don't seem to like Solas all that much. Like, as a standalone character.

#🌞#🎮#I am so sorry Solas Dragonage you deserve more than that.#Your writing too foiled your reasonings too convoluted your narration too unreliable they will KILL YOU!!#I stand by saying that Solas is Wrong and Admits that he's wrong and his writing is beautiful in both games he appears in!#And he's as deep in DATV as he is in DAI and Trespasser; we just encounter him as a person who knows NOTHING about him.#But there are multiple times when you can acknowledge his position/point/agree with him/understand him. You can be sympathetic!#You just can't tear down the fucking Veil because it was established countless times across two games and a DLC that it's wrong. 👍🏼#Knowing that Solas' story examines overwhelming care that turns into near-tyranny in the hands of a man tipped from wisdom to pride.#Like yeah damn.
