I'm gonna be real. Diebuster kinda sucked :/
#Like not egregiously bad#But feels very much like a mush of that era of anime#Without ever really taking a strong shape or direction#Like very much 'we haven't quite figured out Gurren Lagann yet' type of show#Every episode had at least ten cool as hell shots and ideas that could be a whole series plot hook on their own#But man the lack of focus and unclear sense of scale or shape or stakes of this world just made them all go to waste#And the yuri wasn't even as good as it was in Gunbuster :///#Which is insane considering it seemed way more on purpose here#Like that should have been the easy home run!!!!!!!#It was still the best part but like#More development of that relationship happened in flashbacks during the last episode than the whole rest of the series#Which made their final scene just not land as hard as it could#Whereas Jung Freud saying goodbye was less than a minute but breaks my heart in half just thinking about
