sorry this is about IASIP because no shit I've been binging it and I love observing fandoms and it is such the perfect encapsulation of this

IASIP on tumblr is people very sure that the series is basically a slow burn romance heading tiowards a confirmed and central Mac/Dennis relationship. IASIP on reddit involves people very sure it's a slow burn heading towards Dennis being unveiled as a serial killer. To be fair both are absolutely deliberately invoked, mostly as running gags, but also both are soooooo not anywhere near the central focus of the show

tumblr fandoms and reddit fandoms are different in many ways but they share a commonality in many people having a dominating and singular focus on one very small aspect of the show (on tumblr it's almost invariably a ship, reddit tends to get more creative but is still often very obnoxious)

#I would be really annoyed if they made the Dennis serial killer thing canon because it's funny as kind of the running gag #and jiust for characterization being someone so depraved and malicious and so fucking weird and fucked up that he ABSOLUTELY looks like a #serial killer. he totally could be a serial killer. All the major characters are at least 'morally gray' . fucker #'guys kim and jimmy are actually horrible why did thy do that' no shitttt #BCS tumblr has multiple areas of focus but still highly predictable tumblr areas of appeal #(guy people call 'poor little meow meow'. 'girlboss/malewife' relationship. two attractive dudes who are in conflict with each other and on #is basically the hostage of the other and attempting to escape and tries to have him killed. Therefore shippable.)#Idk what the fandomy breaking bad fans do on tumblr I havent really looked. I dont want to know what theyre shipping in there #OK i think i made another version of this post like yesterday but whatever. End Post
