Super cute leather cases and wallets created by fisherman_leather, using old 菓子型 kashigata designs.
Kashigata are molds used to make Japanese style sweets, especially rakugan (a type of higashi ie. dried candies), though they can also be used for more "moist" wagashi cakes. They can be made from cherry wood (木型 kigata), or ceramic, etc. Some are bit-size while others are quite big and detailed!

Let's try this again. So today I did some proper leatherwork and finished my girlfriend's leather phone pouch. Ren faire is in 2 days. Lets GOOOO!
I tried to paint in the little crossbones i stamped on the latch. But I rushed it, and it didn't take. C'est la vie. Maybe I can touch it up tomorrow while I'm finishing up the belt.
I'm just glad I'm back to working on my projects.

Sometimes you make things and they just stare back at you and flip ears.
I made a tiny case for an A6 notebook and my ebook reader mainly because I had a trip from work that included spending over 4h in car as a passenger. The boys' expressions when I took out leather pieces and started stitching them - priceless xd
Yesterday, as I finished putting the three pieces together, I decided I could add these metal triangles. This way, should I ever need it, I can make a tiny bag/purse out of it if I attach some kind of belt or strap. Also I think it's a nice detail in itself, adding a bit to the whole case.
The case is just wide enough to put there my notebook (I made it ages ago, I hardly use notebooks for fanfic writing these days) and mu ebook reader. I can also take out the reader and put there a pencil case instead.
Don't let it fool you - it's tiny.
I like the way it turned out.

Maximizing Protection Without Compromising Style: Best Leather Cases for Smartphones
In today’s fast-paced world, smartphones have become indispensable tools, serving as our connection to the digital landscape. With so much value packed into these sleek devices, protecting them is a must. But who says you have to sacrifice style for safety? Enter leather cases for iPhone—where durability meets elegance, allowing you to maximize protection without compromising on aesthetics. Let’s explore some of the best leather cases for smartphones that blend functionality with flair.
Why Choose Leather Cases?
Before we dive into specific recommendations, let's consider why leather is such a fantastic material for smartphone cases:
Durability: Leather is known for its strength and resilience. High-quality leather cases can withstand everyday wear and tear, including scratches, scuffs, and minor drops, keeping your smartphone safe.
Timeless Style: Leather brings an air of sophistication and luxury to your devices. Available in a variety of colors and finishes, these cases can enhance your phone’s appearance while adding a touch of individuality.
Comfort and Grip: Leather cases often feel more comfortable to hold compared to plastic or metallic materials. Their natural texture provides a better grip, which can help prevent accidental slips.
Unique Aging: One of the charming aspects of leather is its ability to develop a unique patina with time, making each case distinctly yours. As the leather ages, it tells a story, giving your smartphone case character.
Top Leather Cases for Smartphones
Now that we’ve established the benefits of leather cases, here are some of the best options on the market that offer both protection and style:
1. Apple Leather Case for iPhone
For iPhone users, Apple’s official leather case is a top choice. Made from premium European leather, this case fits snugly while providing excellent protection with soft microfiber lining. It comes in various colors, allowing you to find one that suits your personal style perfectly. Plus, it supports wireless charging without needing to remove the case!
2. Nomad Rugged Case
Nomad combines ruggedness with elegance in its leather smartphone cases. With a durable polycarbonate shell reinforced with a layer of vegetable-tanned leather, this case is built to withstand drops while maintaining a refined aesthetic. The leather will develop a natural patina over time, offering a truly unique look. Plus, it includes a raised edge to keep your screen protected from scratches.
3. Twelve South BookBook Case
For those who love multifunctionality, the Twelve South BookBook case is a standout. This leather case not only protects your iPhone but also doubles as a wallet! It has slots for cards and cash, letting you carry essentials without the bulk of an extra wallet. Plus, its vintage book design adds an artistic flair.
4. Bellroy Phone Case
Bellroy is well-known for their commitment to sustainable materials and thoughtful design. Their leather phone case is made from premium, eco-certified leather and features a slim profile that fits comfortably in your pocket. The interior includes a soft microfiber lining for additional protection, and the case is designed to allow easy access to buttons and ports. It’s functional and stylish, making it perfect for anyone looking for elegance without the bulk.
5. Spigen Mag Armor Case
If you’re an Android user, check out the Spigen Mag Armor. While it’s not 100% leather, it features a leather-like finish that provides a premium feel and aesthetics. This case offers military-grade protection and is designed to fit snugly while maintaining a slim profile. Plus, its magnet compatibility allows for easy attachment to car mounts or other magnetic accessories.
Tips for Care and Longevity
To ensure your leather smartphone case remains stylish and protective over time, consider these care tips:
Regular Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe off dust and fingerprints. For deeper cleaning, a leather-specific cleaner can keep the case looking fresh.
Conditioning: Apply a leather conditioner every few months to maintain suppleness and prevent cracking. This is especially important if the case is exposed to moisture or extreme temperatures.
Avoid Excessive Moisture: While leather has some natural resistance, it’s best to keep your case dry. If it does get wet, dab it gently with a cloth and let it air dry at room temperature.

Handmade Samsung S20 Leather Cases
When it comes to accessorizing your Samsung S20, the choice of phone case can significantly enhance both the functionality and aesthetics of your device. Among the myriad of options available, handmade leather phone cases stand out as a superior choice for several compelling reasons. In this blog, we explore why opting for a handmade leather case for your Samsung S20 is a decision you're unlikely to regret.
1. Exceptional Quality and Durability: Handmade Samsung S20 leather phone cases are synonymous with quality. Crafted from premium, genuine leather, these cases offer a level of durability that is hard to find in mass-produced alternatives. Leather is a material that is not only tough and resistant to wear and tear, but it also ages gracefully. Over time, a handmade leather case develops a unique patina, enhancing its character and making it more personal to you.
2. Unparalleled Craftsmanship: The artistry involved in making a handmade leather case is unmatched. Artisans put their skill and passion into every stitch, ensuring that each case is not just a protective cover but a piece of art. This craftsmanship results in a case that fits your Samsung S20 perfectly, providing superior protection and an elegant appearance.
3. Unique Style and Personalization: A handmade leather case is a statement piece. Unlike generic, off-the-shelf cases, each handmade case is unique, with its own texture and color variations. This uniqueness allows you to express your personal style in a way that mass-produced cases cannot. Moreover, many artisans offer the option to personalize your case with monograms or custom designs, making it truly one-of-a-kind.
4. Eco-Friendly and Sustainable: In an increasingly environmentally-conscious world, choosing a sustainable option is important. Handmade leather cases are more eco-friendly compared to synthetic cases. Leather is a natural material, and when sourced responsibly, it is biodegradable and has a much lower impact on the environment than plastics and other synthetics used in phone cases.
5. Enhanced Grip and Comfort: The tactile feel of a handmade leather case is unparalleled. Leather provides a comfortable and secure grip, reducing the chances of accidental slips and drops. The texture of leather ensures that the case feels good in your hands, adding to the overall user experience of your Samsung S20.
6. Supporting Small Businesses and Artisans: By choosing a handmade leather phone case, you are supporting small businesses and skilled artisans. This support is crucial for the survival of traditional craftsmanship and contributes to local economies. Each purchase is a step towards preserving the art of handmade goods in a world increasingly dominated by mass production.
7. Long-Term Cost-Effectiveness: While handmade leather cases may initially cost more than their synthetic counterparts, their durability and timeless design make them a more cost-effective choice in the long run. A high-quality leather case can last for years, outliving many cheaper, lower-quality cases, which need frequent replacing.
In conclusion, a handmade leather phone case for your Samsung S20 is more than just a protective accessory; it's an investment in quality, style, and sustainability. It reflects a conscious choice for craftsmanship and durability, ensuring that your phone is not only well-protected but also encased in a cover that you can be proud of. Whether you're at work, out with friends, or simply enjoying your phone at home, a handmade leather case adds a touch of elegance and sophistication that is simply unmatched.

I asked my friend what kind of a leather mathom I could bring her and she suggested a tiny pencil case/cover.
Here's the test one I made last evening to see if the pattern I made works. Seems fine and also a good way to use small scraps.
