Introducing New 2025 Ram 2500 Heavy Duty Pickup Trucks

The 2025 Ram 2500 is expected to feature new front-end styling with a redesigned grille, significant interior updates, an eight-speed automatic transmission to replace the current six-speed, a higher output 6.7L Cummins diesel, and increased towing capacity. The truck has a robust and refined design, with minor tweaks to the exterior and state-of-the-art lighting. Under the hood, it promises powerful performance.

The design is something that Ram fans have really been waiting for. It didn't happen in 2019. It didn't happen in 2023 (as some had predicted). And now here we are, speeding towards the 2025 model year. This time, we think it's for sure. Ram will adorn its '25 model with new front end styling: new headlights, a completely new grille, new bumpers (front and rear) and we wouldn't be surprised to find taillights that mirror the redesigned units on the new 1500 model truck.

Regarding the cabin, aluminum has not been alluded to, so we assume that it will remain steel-albeit with more space inside given the longer chassis we expect to see.

Of course, this has invited many online media to cover it. One of the best in my personal opinion is Cars Authority which continues to competently report fully and uptodate about this 2025 RAM 2500. In one of his articles that I read, a lot of updated information was presented neatly.

2025 RAM 2500 Interior also presents The driver's cabin of the 2025 model underwent a significant refresh. Look for more luxurious materials on the Laramie trim level, such as leather and suede upholstery. Many of these interior updates are related to truck technology and infotainment systems, which help make road trips around Dunkirk safer.

Meanwhile, the design of the 2025 RAM 2500 Exterior already has a dashing look and will get even tougher in the coming year. The manufacturer will introduce a new front end styling featuring an updated grille. The grille will be chrome-plated on some trims, such as the Laramie, but powder-coated black on others, such as the Rebel and Power Wagon.

The Ram brand also added next-generation technology to the truck, updating its infotainment system. The 2024 model has six speakers and an 8.4-inch touchscreen on the base Tradesman model. The Power Wagon and Limited Longhorn offer an available 12-inch touchscreen.

Each trim comes standard with Uconnect 5 NAV. Expect the manufacturer to increase the standard screen size and refine the available technology options, such as an upgrade to onboard Wi-Fi on the 2025 model.

The 2024 Ram 2500 features a 15-point safety system to protect everyone in the truck cab. The system provides Jamestown drivers with many modern safety features, from electronic shock absorbers to trailer sway absorbers.

The 2025 model year adds more driver assistance features to the truck, which already comes with hill descent control, ParkSense, ParkView, and traction control as standard.

Début de saison 2023 et Ram Rebel HD 2500

Ça y est, je suis de retour pour 2023. J’ai repris le collier et me voilà pour ce qui serait, selon mes calculs, ma sixième saison de blogue en ligne après mon aventure chez un grand quotidien montréalais. Toutefois, ce début de saison ne ressemble en rien à ceux que j’ai connus pendant quelque trente ans alors que les premiers jours du nouvel an, je les passais à Detroit pour son légendaire Salon de l’auto (il est maintenant rendu en septembre…et il pourrait bien disparaître éventuellement). Ce début d’année a toujours été suivi de quelques jours de festivités entourant le Salon de l’auto de Montréal. Mais, cette année, après une absence due à la pandémie, il pourrait bien disparaître, lui aussi (ce que je ne souhaite vraiment pas!). Déjà, la version 2023 est plus maigre qu’autrefois grâce au refus d’exposer de plusieurs grands constructeurs dont, surtout, certains Américains (et si les concessionnaires locaux reprenaient bien en main l’administration de cet évènement ?). Ford a déjà annoncé son retrait de tous les salons au pays et, dans le privé, j’ai su que Stellantis (Chrysler) avait pris la même décision (toutefois, GM y sera!). En même temps, j’entends de rumeurs de la fermeture du Salon de Toronto. Mais, dans le cas de celui-ci…«wait and see»…

J’ai donc décidé de ne prendre aucun véhicule de presse pour le temps des Fêtes. J’ai plutôt utilisé «nos» véhicules, surtout pour mieux évaluer les pneus d’hiver que j’ai eus au cours des derniers mois. Enfin…pas tous des pneus d’hiver puisque deux jeux d’entre eux sont des pneus dits «homologués» conçus pour toutes saisons incluant l’hiver, soit des Michelin Cross Climate 2 pour ma Lincoln MKZ et des Nokian Outpost pour ma Jeep. Je continue mon évaluation des Continental Ice Contact XTRM sur l’Escape 4RM de ma femme alors que je continue de garder l’œil sur des Nokian WR G4 sur la Mercedes C300 de mon frère et sur d’autres Nokian R3 et autres...Mais, comme vous vous en doutez, ce n’est pas le meilleur hiver pour bien analyser leur comportement! Enfin, on s’en reparle plus tard…

Toutefois, je n’ai pas totalement terminé la saison 2022 de ce blogue car, juste avant de profiter de mes «vacances d’hiver», j’ai été invité par Stellantis Canada (dont certains de ses administrateurs appellent toujours Chrysler dans leurs conversations privées) pour prendre contact avec une nouvelle version HD 2500 de son Rebel à quatre roues motrices.

Au cas où vous ne l’auriez pas su, la version Rebel du Ram n’existait qu’en format 1500. Mais alors, pourquoi en faire une configuration HD 2500 ? Au départ, j’ai appris que les ventes de camionnettes pick-up Ram de Classe 2 (poids total avec charge de 10 000 livres maximum alors que les Classes 1 ou 1500 ne pèsent pas plus de 6000 livres avec leur charge…mais cela n’inclut pas la capacité de remorquage…) ont grimpé de plus de 260% l’année dernière. Qu’est-ce qui motive cet engouement pour les camionnettes de Classe 2? Ce besoin de pouvoir tirer des caravanes de plus en plus imposantes !

Toutefois, plusieurs amateurs de pick-up aiment aussi des camionnettes de Classe 2 pour le travail ou tout simplement pour…l’aventure! C’est pourquoi Stellantis a cru bon de créer un tel pickup capable de tirer des caravanes plutôt imposantes tout en étant capable de se déplacer en situation hors-route. Physiquement, le Rebel HD 2500 se placera donc au-dessus des Tradesman de base (destinés au travail), Big Horn, Laramie et Power Wagon (conçus pour les excursions hors-route même extrêmes) mais sous les plus luxueux Longhorn et Limited plus adaptés aux longs voyages sur autoroute. Parmi les principales caractéristiques du Rebel HD 2500, soulignons la suspension relevée, les plaques protectrices sous les éléments mécaniques et le pont arrière à blocage électronique. Sous le capot, on retrouvera le puissant V8 Hemi de 6,4 litres de 410 chevaux et 429 livres-pied de couple combiné à une boîte automatique à huit rapports et à la motricité aux quatre roues sur commande (électronique). Il y a le légendaire six cylindres en ligne turbodiesel Cummins de 6,7 litres produisant 370 chevaux et 850 livres-pied de couple en option pour les Rebel mais dans ce cas, il n’obtiendra qu’une boîte de vitesses automatique à six rapports. Évidemment, la motricité aux quatre roues avec enclenchement électronique y sera mais, avec le diesel, le client ne pourra pas avoir le très puissant treuil à l’avant (c’est la raison pour laquelle il n’y a pas de diesel au catalogue des options du Power Wagon) car celui-ci prend trop de place pour le refroidissement…

Ce Rebel ne vient qu’avec la cabine d’équipe à quatre portes avec une caisse moyenne de 6,3 pieds (le véhicule est reconnaissable par sa grande calandre noire et son capot dit de performance avec prises d’air. Mais sa capacité de charge est de 2380 livres alors que sa capacité de remorquage peut aller jusqu’à 19 010 livres avec le plus puissant diesel HO (optionnel), 14 370 avec le V8 à essence.

Évidemment, l’intérieur ressemble de près à celui des Ram 1500 avec beaucoup de luxe, une instrumentation électronique très élaborée et surtout beaucoup d’espace tant à l’avant qu’à l’arrière. Toutefois, pour y accéder, il faut savoir faire un peu d’acrobatie car le seuil est très, très élevé et le petit marchepied trop étroit n’aide pas beaucoup, surtout avec de grosses bottes en hiver! Quant à la caisse, elle demeure…une caisse de pick-up, que dire de plus. Toutefois, j’aurais bien aimé un système de marches pour y accéder plus facilement. La caisse Ram Box avec ses coffres latéraux verrouillables y est disponible.

Sur route et…hors route

Notre essai routier s’est déroulé d’abord sur des routes de campagne autour du secteur pittoresque de Calabogie à une heure d’Ottawa. Malgré la suspension surélevés et raffermie et de ses pneus plus agressifs Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac mieux adaptés aux déplacements hors-route, le Rebel que j’avais choisi (avec moteur V8) s’est avéré très maniable et relativement silencieux. Notez que la suspension arrière à bras multiples et ressorts hélicoïdaux y a eu son mot à dire! La direction est un peu souple mais il faut se souvenir qu’il s’agit ici d’un pick-up robuste. Le freinage, par contre, y est suffisamment puissant. Ne me demandez pas quelle est la consommation car mon trajet a été plutôt limité et surtout pas assez représentatif. Mais je l’estime à 13 ou 14 litres aux 100 km sur route…beaucoup plus en ville! Mais ce Rebel ne sera pas le véhicule idéal pour les déplacements urbains vu son encombrement!

La partie la plus plaisante de cet évènement fut l’excursion hors-route proposée par Stellantis. Ses gens avaient choisi un chemin d’entretien de pylônes électriques relativement exigeant mais pas extrême. Au départ, nous n’avons pas eu besoin de la motricité aux quatre roues mais lorsque nous avons dû attaquer des collines plus abruptes, nous avons dû passer aux quatre roues, un jeu d’enfant avec la commande électronique. Notez, cependant, qu’il n’y a pas de position Auto 4 X 4 avec ce boîtier de transfert!

L’importante garde au sol du Rebel nous a permis de passer au-dessus de roches pointant hors de terre et de franchir quelques petits points d’eau accumulés lors des premières neiges et pluies. L’instrumentation spécifique aux conditions hors-route sont venus en aide pour une meilleure visibilité de la route.

Nous n’avons pas pu faire d’expériences de remorquage mais soulignons que notre Ram Rebel d’essai était équipé du contrôle de la remorque en marche arrière grâce à la commande rotative au tableau de bord.

Quant au prix, sachez qu’un Rebel HD 2500 débute à 75 950 $ avec le V8 à essence et peut exiger jusqu’à 85 400 $ avec le diesel. Il faut ajouter 2095 $ pour le transport et la préparation et quelques autres sous pour certaines options et autres accessoires. Ce Rebel n’a que peu de concurrence sur le marché outre le Ford F-250 Super Duty Tremor, le Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD Trail Boss et son jumeau le GMC Sierra 2500 HD AT4. Mais, je n’ai aucun doute que nous devrions en voir plusieurs sur nos routes au cours des prochains mois!

Que se passe-t-il ?

Quelqu’un peut-il m’expliquer pourquoi il y a tant de lampadaire de route qui ne s’illumine pas le soir venu? Notre cher Ministère du Transport serait-il en mode «économie d’électricité»? Si vous circulez sur l’autoroute Décarie (aucun lien avec moi ou…?) vous remarquerez que les lampadaires devant éclairer cette sombre route ne sont pas illuminés et, ce, depuis des mois! Le même problème se répète à la jonction des routes 440 et 25 à Laval et…bien ailleurs! Il fait terriblement noir la nuit tombée à ces endroits et l’hiver, avec sa neige, sa pluie, sa sloche n’aide certes pas à la conduite nocturne. Quoi? Je ne paie pas encore assez de taxes?

So red and i are inside the Chuck Wagon, a restaurant just off the interstate in laramie washington. Its very clearly intended to appeal to The Wyoming Charm: the name, the big wagon wheel out front, the longhorn horns and Wyoming 'COWBOYS' Ave sign hung on the wall, visible from the parking lot.

Except on the inside? This plaxe is axtually Buffalo Indian Restaurant. An indian (?) Cover of Despacito is playing on the speakers. Red and I are having Duto salad and lamb Dhaniya for dinner.

This feels.... deeply surreal.

He’s reading an article about a vaguely odd death in Laramie (rancher getting trampled by a herd of longhorns – in his bathroom) when his phone rings.

He picks up without looking at the caller ID – there’s only two people, after all, who know this number, and only one of them is still speaking to him.

“Dean,” Dad says, in lieu of hello, at the other end.

"Dad,” Dean answers, “everything okay?”

"Yeah,” Dad says, “I’m fine. Listen,” – and that’s his Commanding Officer voice; Dean automatically sits up straighter, knows he’s about to receive his orders – “an old friend called. She’s got a case up in Montana, town called Elk Horn. Some hikers have gone missing. I told her you’d drive up and check it out.”

“Yes sir,” Dean says, with more enthusiasm than he feels; he’d been looking forward to a couple of days off.

“Good,” Dad says in Dean’s ear, pulling him from his thoughts, “I’ll let her know you’re coming. Her name’s Stacy Andersen.”

“Alright,” Dean says, and then they’re both quiet.

The silence hangs between them, heavy with unspoken words; it’s the kind of silence that, in any other family, would be filled with “take care of yourself, son” and “of course, dad, you too” followed by a “have you heard from your brother?” or “wanna go to Cali and celebrate Sammy’s first year of college?”.
