A fantastic interpretation!
(also, if you're not familiar with this song but enjoy the softest songs and themes from the oldest Star Wars and want to go more into classical music/romantic music/impressionism, this one is a good bridge!)

Today - March 22nd, 1984 - Queen Story!
London, UK - Queen videoed "I Want To Break Free"
The video for this song parodies a popular British television soap, Coronation Street. The opening sequence features all the band members in drag (Mercury as a housewife, Deacon as grandmother, Taylor as a schoolgirl, and May as a housewife). This confused many people who didn't catch the reference. Brian May was asked in an interview with Q magazine March 2011 whether each band member's character in the video was an accurate reflection of their personalities? He replied: "Of Course! Everybody thinks that was Freddie's idea because it looks like something that he would love to do but it actually came from Roger's girlfriend at the time, strangely enough. It was her idea to pastiche the Coronation Street women."
Location Docklands Limehouse Studio
Directed by David Mallet, with hundreds of fan club members dressed as miners as film extras
Freddie Mercury was all set to shave off his trademark mustache, but director David Mallet put a stop to it: "I said, 'No, the one thing you musn't do, the funny thing is that your mustache is there and you're in drag!' To this day, when he comes around the corner with that hoover I laugh." In this video Mercury is surrounded by the Royal Ballet in a nod to the French ballet L'Après-midi d'un faune and its clean-shaven Russian star Vaslav Nijinsky.
This song became an anthem for the ANC in South Africa in the late '80s when Nelson Mandela was still in jail and the white government's apartheid policies were still in place.

A SON OF THE GOD FAUNUS
So... since it was my off-day today, I couldn't help but go a little further with my drawing of the faun from earlier...
... and by 'a little further', I mean a full gouache paint-over and white ink highlighting. :3
By the way, Claude Debussy's 'Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun' (original title: Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune) is a pretty beautiful piece of music to listen to while painting/working.

Dr. Bashir as Nijinsky's Faun

First Star Trek: Deep Space Nine fanart! I've been getting more interested again in Star Trek lately and wanted to make a drawing related to that.
Context + details under the cut + alt version
There are quite a few "jokes" circulating in the Trek fandom about Dr. Julian Bashir being a ballet fan, or even a ballet dancer himself, because of his ex-girlfriend being a ballerina, so I got inspired by that and... drew him as the faun from the ballet "Prélude à l'après midi d'un faune" by Vaslav Nijinsky, based on the piece of the same title by Claude Debussy (which again, was based on the poem "L'Après midi d'un faune" by Stéphane Mallarmé).
The costume was, obviously, heavily based on the original from the ballet by Léon Bakst, although I made some adaptations to make it look more futuristic (? though this was hard because the original attire itself is already pretty modern), and also make sure Bashir was recognizable (I replaced the headpiece that maintained the horns with a rose crown, which I guess isn't fully off tracks either because Léon Bakst did design a costume made of roses for another ballet!)
And no, this isn't "Vulcanface", that's the actual makeup of the faun in the ballet haha.
I dedicate this drawing to my friend @bashircore! Dr. Bashir is his favorite Star Trek character.
The veil Julian is holding is Elim Garak's, by the way. :)
Some close-ups:

According to Facebook Memories, nine years ago today I was at the symphony seeing Debussy's Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune and Dvořák’s Symphony No. 8, and now I’m learning a page of one of Debussy’s préludes on piano myself, and life is pretty amazing, that’s all
