Where did the names for them came from and why those?

NOTE: i was going to answer this quickly but then fell down a rabbit hole of reading about medieval moldavian naming conventions for an entirely tangential reason to this ask and opened so many pdfs my computer crashed. :) enjoy

Lăcrămioara Strigoi and Leopold Lupei are both Romanian!

Lăcrămioara means "little teardrop"/is a diminutive of lacrima (related to lachrymose, ie; tears/crying/etc). Furthermore, it's the Romanian name for the plant Lily of the Valley, which is heavily associated with the tears of both The Virgin Mary as well as Eve.

You may also see me call him just "Mioara"-- which is pulled from her name, but also can be a diminutive of the Romanian form of "Mary", and also means "little lamb".

Given Lacramioara has tear-based corpse paint, and marian/plant/sheep themes, it's more than fitting!

As for Strigoi-- it's not an actual surname. It'd be kind of insane if it was. Strigoi are a Romanian folkloric creature generally agreed to be the origin of vampire myths (although in many they take on a description more akin to witches or warlocks). Admittedly, I didn't base a lot of her stuff on actual strigoi myth, but he's not actually a vampire-- just an angel that resembles vampires so as to better hunt them and other creatures of the night. so it's fine lol

Strigoi wasn't Lacramioara's original surname; from what I can glean, it's likely his name was "Lăcrămioara, of [Father's name]" or "of [village-- place pending, moldavian]", but I'm still tinkering with that, since sources are hard to find. I saw somewhere that most names up until the name reform were "given name, fathers name, grandfathers name," but im having trouble finding places where this is backed up. But for now, just consider the "strigoi" surname a title of sorts from Michael <3

as for Leopold, it actually means "Brave People"-- unrelated to the latin "leo". But of course, it can be shortened to that and resembles it, because I did still want to draw the leonine association. Lupei is, as a matter of fact, a real surname, meaning "wolf"-- but it also wasn't his original surname either. I wanted his name to sound important, and also I've just been DYING to use the name Leopold in something since I was a child for reasons related to Looney Tunes

If it matters, Leopold is originally from Wallachia. Fun fact.

Johnny Strings and Cross DeVille are both based on The Devil Went Down to Georgia, a song by the Charlie Daniels band. It tells the story of the devil, down on his luck and short on souls, who challenges a boy to a fiddling contest with the bet being that if the boy wins, he gets a fiddle of gold, and if he loses, the devil gets his soul. It goes without saying that this song is essentially theological canon to me.

Johnny Strings, however, in this incarnation, is a butch bisexual woman and the fiddle is now a golden guitar, since I wanted to take on a more rock-leaning inclination with it.

Cross DeVille is both a cross fox in his design-- but his name alludes to Crossroad Demons, which he is. I also used the DeVille just because I wanted him to give the impression of a fancy city boy

(as is Mephistopheles, who is the archetypal crossroads demon)

You may have guessed, but Godhead Death Sentence in general is meant to have a very campy tone to the world, so a lot of the names will be obvious allusions or puns, when I can do it.

The 2022 Women's Amateur World Boxing Champions

The amateur women’s boxing world championships concluded today after a couple weeks in Turkey. As is seemingly tradition, the host nation cleaned up on the board winning 5 gold medals for the home team. Worth noting that Russia (which previously won 4) and Belarus were banned from competing in the championships because of the invasion of Ukraine.

Some other interesting tidbits - We had an increase of weight classes, from 10 to 12.  Ireland won 2 for the first time in the country’s history, despite favorite and Olympic champion Kellie Harrington being out with injury. Nikhat Zareen became the 5th woman from India to win gold at the championships. Algeria, Kosovo, Lithuania, Mozambique, Spain and Uzbekistan all won their first medals at the Women's World Boxing Championships.

Nu știu câți dintre voi ați citit vreodată ce scrie @maticiuc_codin pe aici, pe internet. Nu discutăm dacă vă place personajul sau nu. Eu știu doar că are o inimă mare și că ține enorm de mult la copii. Știu doar că am citit cu nod în gât despre fata din salonul #702 acum ceva ani. E o poveste veche, cu o fetiță, ce era internată la Spitalul Fundeni, la etajul 7, de leucemie... Lăcrămioara o chema. Într-un șcenariu normal, statul ar trebui să se ocupe de bunul mers al spitalelor și al altor instituții, ar trebui să asigure toate cele necesare și să repare când este nevoie, totuși trăim în România. Și îmi este greu să-mi aduc aminte când s-a modernizat sau construit un spital din bani publici, fără să iasă cu scandal după. ( corupție, firmă proastă de construcție, nereguri etc. ) Cumva, nu știu de ce, noi suntem datori să ajutăm, mai ales când vine vorba de copii, de sănătatea lor, de educația lor și implicit de viitorul lor. @tshirtfactoryro are aceste tricouri, pe care le-am achiziționat recent, care ajută la restaurarea etajului 7 a spitalului Fundeni. Tricourile costă 100, respectiv 80 de lei. Mie îmi plac chiar mult, au material bun, iar imprimeul foarte reușit. Nu știu să-ți zic de ce ar trebui să cumperi tricourile, poate din spirit civic, poate în memoria Lăcrămioarei, poate pentru că vrei să simți cum e să faci o faptă bună sau pur și simplu îți plac tricourile. În ultimul timp, am învățat că un lucru infim de mic poate să conteze incredibil de mult. Mulțumesc Codin și @jurnalul_unui_burlac pentru că militați pentru această cauză, de la voi am descoperit aceste tricouri. Mulțumesc și @lolrelai pentru „reminder-ul” pe care l-ai lansat aici pe #instagram. Eu sunt un om, eu sunt #Laichici și cu siguranță cumpărând un tricou nu s-au rezolvat probleme. AVENTURILE LUI GHERMAN

O zi ca în cuptor a lunii august , Jîrneţ Mirabela şi-a mai scos un dinte din cei 16 care i-a mai rămas sa şi-i scoată, pentru a nu mai fi stropită cu acid pe faţă de către Ghermantin Plugaru - robu primarului  şi prieten devotat cu Galiun Sergheevici , fiul primarului.

S-a mai vărsat o lacrimă pe betonul rece din garaj , fetişcanei i-au mai ramas 2 dinţi plombaţi şi o coroniţă din 3, sîngele gingiilor curge pe plăscăgubţ ca rîul doamnei Tasea care a fost trasă in ţeapa vara trecuta in lanul de popuşoi a groparului satului fiind ca semn de protest in legatură cu mărirea salariilor.

 Coşmarul a început înca de când Păvleţ , Ioric şi Galiun au început operaţia cu nume de cod ‘Porcuşorul’. Afara era un timp ploios, glodul era până la genunchi când Pavlic o luat ИЖУ din sarai , 2 dubinci şi ştîcul după care o rupt glodu spre bodega 'Lăcrămioara’ sau cum i se mai spune in sat  - la bar la Leonidonidă unde îl aşteptau paţanearele. Pe masă se tăvălea un pachet de răsic gol de 5 lei 'Zaraza’ iar piva la halbă era aghe pe jiumătate, şi deamu era caldă ca ţîncu la pînce.Galiun era la tubzic când Ioric şi-a făcut apariţia cu încă un pachet plin de răsărită. Tema era deja ştiută.Din vorbele lui Iorik care invăţa cu Mirabela la Chişinău, s-a aflat că curvotina sasne regulat la 5 mârlani din grupă.

După 3 zile 2 din ei au fost găsiţi in iaz la Dalincă şi s-a declarat ca i-a apucat cîrcelu,dar nu se ştie - pe când al 3-lea a fost dat dispărut dupa ce o mână a fost trimisă la părinţi în sat , restu 2 au dispărut fără urmă de pe hartă - se mai vorbeşte ca ei se află ambii într-un butoi cu smoală, pe bucăţi, îngropat undeva în ograda groparului care e deja părăsită de un an.

 Inceputul lunii septembrie , primarul e primar raional iar Galiun e undeva în Mexico cu prietenii şi robul tatălui său devotat.De ei nu se mai vorbeşte de când au fost dezmembrate două  babe din sat cu piatra pentru minciunile năpustite în sat precum că băieţii   se ocupau cu trafic de fiinţe umane în Moscova.

Jîrneţ a rămas întreagă şi râde cu tăţ dinţii într-un spital de psihiatrie din Ungheni unde mai are de mai stat minimum 8 ani.Se preconizeaza ca familia Galiun au si acolo cunoștințe și că Galiun vnature-o-să devină-un galiun.

Suceveanca Lăcrămioara Perijoc a rămas cu medalia de bronz la Memorialul Strandja de la Sofia

Pugilista suceveană Lăcrămioara Perijoc a fost învinsă de kazaha Anghelina Lukas, la puncte, cu 4-1, în semifinalele cat. 52 kg, la turneul de box Memorialul Strandja, de la Sofia, şi a rămas cu medalia de bronz. Perijoc, campioană europeană în 2019 la cat. 54 kg, trecuse în optimi de Gabriela Dimitrova (Bulgaria), iar în sferturi de Joyti Joyti (India). Lăcărmioara Perijoc a fost descoperită și pregătită la CSM Florconstruct Suceava de reretatul antrenor Doru Iftime. România a mai avut două reprezentante la competiţie, Claudia Nechita (57 kg) şi Cristina Cosma (60 kg), ambele învinse în prima zi. La cel mai vechi turneu european de box, ajuns la ediţia a 72-a, s-au înscris 220 de sportivi din 30 de ţări de pe mai multe continente.
