To be angry with others being treated better than yourself is but natural. Such a thing is unfair, and unjust, after all.

But to blindly direct that anger towards those treated better is foolish, for often they hold no fault in your suffering.

Look instead to those who purposely treat you worse, who reward your loyalty to them through pitiful, deficient, outdated means, knowing full well they could treat you better, but refuse to.

Look to those who utter proven lies, who withhold resources and build shoddy, deficient systems, all so they can enrich themselves, rather than you or anyone else. They are the ones that deserve your anger.

Perhaps these may not be distinct groups. Sometimes those who are treated better and those who purposely treat you poorly are one and the same. But sometimes they are not.

Knowing the difference, and knowing who should truly be held accountable, is where true wisdom lies.

It's absolutely wild how the official Elsword discord server banned elwiki then unbanned it 4 hours later.

It's also wild why people have to go to a third party in the first place to figure out how exactly their character's skills work. It's 2025. Why can't KoG make the skill tooltips actually useful?

Like how hard is it to write "damage% x (hit count)" instead of "damage% multi-hit"? Admittedly, I don't know how coding works, but I would assume hit counts have to be hard coded into the game itself. So couldn't they just copy paste the hit count into the tooltip? Even if they can't copy paste, it would still take only a couple seconds at most to write "x (hit count)".

Then there's a couple passives that just straight up don't say what they do in game. For example, CA's Bygone Days still does not list its effects. Sure, lore is fun and all, but it's literally such a garbage thing to do when tooltips are supposed to tell you how something functions. No one should need to go to a third party to find out their passive actually does something.

It's also insane how after that fiasco no one made an official suggestion for KoG to put accurate, transparent information about skills into the game itself. Yes, I saw some talk about it in the main chat, but no one actually made a post in the proper channel. Sure, KoG likely still would not implement it since it's not the KR community complaining, but it'd still be worth having a thread about.

A little bit about this blog in case anyone sees this:

This is a sideblog for stuff related to the 2007 Korean MMORPG Elsword, especially anything I can find that strikes a sense of nostalgia for me.

Mod is an adult and uses she/they pronouns. Entirely free player, and recently started maining Lu/Ciel though I haven't had a lot of time with them yet. (Also I know this is kind of contradictory to canon but I like to headcanon Ciel as a butch ace lesbian, because I am and it makes me happy. <3)

Long rambly backstory below the cut:

I started playing when I was 12 in like 2017 (I know you're supposed to be 13 but I lied about my age, as all 12 year olds with unrestricted internet access do). Obviously, this was ten years after the game was made and it was already kind of past its prime, and I think this is around the point at which older players started to leave. Still, since this is when I started, this is the time period associated with nostalgia for me. I mained Rena and spent a lot of time on Elsword Amino and Deviantart, sharing bad fanart. I was practically obsessed with the game, to the point of reading ElWiki constantly for fun, until I was maybe around 15 and became too busy with life circumstances.

I returned a bit recently and found it mostly abandoned, at least in NA, even in areas that used to hold tons of players. Trying to find and reread ElType issues has also been a challenge, as most of the links on ElWiki lead to broken Imgur pages.

Though "pay to win" and greedy corporate practices were already there when I started, I've found all sorts of posts by older Elsword players that show that it's gotten even worse, likely contributing to the game's decline.

Even though the game is far from what I knew it as and even farther from what older players knew it as, I still feel nostalgia for the characters and story, so I'm trying to gather as much as I can in one place before the game inevitably shuts down. I hope it gets taken from KOG by a studio that will care for the game and listen to the players, but I doubt that's going to happen. I'm busy with university and other circumstances, but sometime soon I want to get ahold of as much of ElType as I can and create a digital archive of it since so many of the links on ElWiki don't work anymore.

A general statement of how I feel about Elsword now since I’ve returned to Tumblr. Not positive at all so I’m putting this under a read more.

It’s been a while since I’ve made this blog, and I must say I cannot see Elsword the same way I did when I first played it several years ago when Yama Raja was released.

I still have NA installed onto my laptop much to my chagrin, but playing it has become such a chore that I only log on when people need me… and the people who do need me tend to just use me for the day and call me back when they need me again.

KoG has managed to create such a wonderful game with characters and gameplay I cannot find anywhere else, yet ruined it with cash grabs and shitty management. I don’t think NA/INT servers will last as long as the KR server. I give it a couple years if I’m being honest with its dwindling population and the people I’ve already known to hop ship.

It’s a damn shame, really. I’ve only ever played this MMO. I’ve tried many others, but I always drop them shortly after.

Despite that, I still like to think about the characters. I’ll try to be a little silly on this blog once in a while as a treat.

im pissed. i just opened the rigo armor cube from the growth guide thing.... and i picked the wrong armor. i'm playing revenant for the first time. actually-- i havent played in over two years. even when I did play, I never made it past varny so this is my first time really interacting with the rigo armor and the reforge system, but whatever. so i did some research (very poor research evidently) and i picked the vermillion armor because i thought that'll give me more combat power than crimson (for some reason? i dunno the asd was throwing me off). guess what? the armor, reforged to +9, and socketed only took my combat up by 79,000. only then did i realize i fucked up. now i need to pay $108 to fix this mistake. all of the time and money ive spent on this raven, all for him to be bested by some goddamn colored armor. i could wait 3 years for kog to give out a free armor color change thing. sigh, thats enough elsword for today. gonna go cry now.
