Pete stops rummaging his part of the wardrobe, and turns. Why does Vegas start complicated conversations at the strangest time? He’s half naked and now, finding a shirt is secondary.

“We could go with Macau,” Vegas says. “A holiday of sorts.”

“For ten months,” Pete says with the kind of horror that is reserved for Vegas’s rich boy logic before he can even consider the logistics. “I… Vegas, I can’t leave grandma for so long.”

“We’d take breaks from it,” Vegas says easily, like he already anticipated that particular hurdle. “We could even invite her for a trip.”

He is already getting up and walking toward Pete, gaze intent.

“The family…”

“What can they do? I’m not the heir anymore. They chose Porsche. We’re just helping out of the goodness of our hearts.”

Vegas is smiling, and it feels like spite. Pete is pretty sure he’ll have something to say about that when Vegas won’t crowd him against the wood, but for the moment his mind is lagging behind.

“It’s time to tug on the leash they have around our neck a little. They own the rest of our lives, they can give us a few months back.”

It is hard to concentrate properly when Vegas starts kissing his neck.

“Come on,” says Vegas in his ear, low and pressing.

Pete closes his eyes with the sharp sensation of a bite on his neck. Fuck it, he thinks hazily for a moment. He did resign to be with Vegas, but…

“Does – does Macau know?”

Everything stops and Pete could curse himself for being so reasonable, except that Vegas is just stepping back, looking smug.

“I wanted you to agree first.”

Pete groans and sags against the wood until Vegas’s hand is on his neck, preventing him from hiding. Victory should not suit him so much, and Pete feels mulish. He should not win so easily.

“And that’s the way you go about it? Asshole.”

Vegas smiles, a little meaner.

“You like it when I convince you to break free,” he says. “And I owe you a real holiday, don’t I?”

Suddenly, that moment is not as fun, with the memory of the phone on his ear, the concrete at his back and Vegas pressing against him, drinking his pain in and relishing in it. The utter despair of Kinn agreeing with Vegas’s plot so quickly it’s clear he didn’t stop and think about Pete. He breathes and feels the hand against his throat, and Vegas is looking at him sharply, the way he always does when he can’t help but probe around that time, like it’ll do something else than awake old pains. And Pete feels naked and defenseless, but he meets his eyes.

“You owe me,” he agrees.

I haven’t updated my story in 2 months but my head is all jumbled and drained.

I can’t seem to get my words together properly even though the chapter is almost done.

A smile appears on Vegas' lips. He puts the signet ring aside and returns to the bedroom. He kisses Pete on the lips and as soon as Vegas lies down, Venice cuddles up to him. Pete is sleeping next door.

Vegas is happy. He kisses Venice on the top of his head.

I'll propose tomorrow.
