So, trying really hard not to dive on spoilers!
I suppose family is going to be kind of an important topic, but the basics like knowing if the cast comes from a big or small family? If they are an only child or are really close with their family? Could we pls get any clue about it?
These are really basic questions so maybe at this point they're answered if so ignore them! Do they have any favourite type of food or favourite dish? And do they have any favourite colour?
Is there any of them who are like... Top or model students? We got that image from Deja and we'll get to know more about them in game but just wanted to have an idea if there's any of them who get like really good grades 👀
Haha I applaud your efforts
Sure, yeah I can talk about family! But like you said, it's an important topic, and the game will explore more about these topics. So I'll have to refrain a bit from some aspects--
But right off the bat, Percy, Cameron, and Reynah are an only child. Deja has an older brother by five years and Jamie has an older sister by six years. Elio has... *counts on fingers* five siblings, two older and three younger!
And since MC is meant to know more about Deja and Cam, I can talk about their family!
Deja
Deja's family is close but they value independence a lot. As such, they don't actually keep frequent contact with each other and the holidays are when they consistently meet up. But that's just how it is in the Lamarre household. But Deja's parents do visit the trio when they can and as soon as they can. They also like treating Cameron and MC out for dinner as if they're their own family.
One time, Deja was in an SGB meeting when they pulled up so they just took Cameron and MC out for dinner instead.
MC and Cam: *spams the gc with meal shots and a photo of her parents waving*
Deja: My parents are in town?
Deja: Wait, are you eating with my parents??
MC: They said they'll pay.
Cam: Dude, the lobster here is to die for.
Deja: I-
Deja: Ask them if they got a substitute. brb
She called the meeting short to eventually join them heh
Though they have a pretty Laissez-Faire kind of lifestyle, they all love each other very much. They just prefer not to waste time with mushy words. Rather, they'd let the proud smiles do the talking.
Cam
The Molinares family is a lot closer and a lot bigger. Compared to the Lamarre's, they meet up every month for a get together. Whether it's to celebrate someone's birthday or to go on a weekend hike-- there's always a reason for them to meet up.
Cameron's loved by all of their extended relatives but they're really close with their cousins since they grew up and took care of them during these family events. And as the oldest of all of them, they're idolized by all of their cousins. MC and Deja saw firsthand how they were swarmed at a family potluck they had been invited to-- like a mother hen and her baby chicks, Cameron always had someone dangling off their waist.
Their parents work long shifts so they feel bad that they don't get to welcome Cameron home after their classes. But they thank Deja and MC for keeping them company and for letting them crash at their place when the commute gets too late with homemade meals. They make the best arroz con pollo, and of course they substitute for Deja.
Though their family doesn't come to campus, the trio are more than welcome to come by their place and their family events. Though when they do, they prepare themselves for talks about love. Their aunts, especially, look forward to the day they hear MC and Deja have a partner.

Favorite color... that's something I didn't really think about because I don't have any favorites haha but let's see...
Percy - Red (I think he'd like all shades of it)
Elio - Green (but not neon)
Jamie - Silver and Blue
Deja - Purple and Pink
Reynah - Pink, there's a specific shade. Otherwise she really digs the pastels
Cameron - Hm... I think... I think they wouldn't have any favorite colors. Doing art for so long has made them pretty unbiased and appreciative of all shades
As for their food tastes. You can't go wrong with something from their background. They all like the food they grew up eating.
And though I can't think of any specific dishes they'd like, I can talk about their eating habits!
Elio is a carnivore. Barbeque makes him salivate. Percy's into broths, something that warms him up on the inside. Jamie's a bit picky though so he's got a really light palate. Reynah's the same way but she'd still eat everything, she just won't have much of an opinion. Cameron would love rice-based dishes and Deja-- ah, there's not a lot she can explore given her diet. But she likes snacking on fruits. The apartment is always stocked with grapes because of it.
- - - - -
Haha yeah Deja gets good grades. So does Jamie. They're both kind of like the perfect model student.
Strictly speaking, everyone has good grades considering that they're in majors that require them to continue their education. So they don't really have any room to fuck up if they're shooting for a PhD.
But where studying comes easily to Deja and Jamie, the rest have to put in the hours. Cameron especially. Law's a lot of reading and it takes them longer to understand the material. Percy could honestly be in D and J's level, but he procrastinates. Reynah and Elio are diligent but only when they're actually studying. They're both busy people with plenty on their plate haha

Who's Rosemary? I wanna hear about that OC!
I mean, hey, give me half an excuse...
Rosemary is the youngest child of Beatrice Sharpe's youngest sister (Beatrice being, canonically, the oldest of Several). She's eight years old in 1902, and her parents and three older brothers died tragically a few weeks ago when an unknown party poisoned their soup. Rosemary, having been sent to bed without supper, was spared- something the old aunt who looked after her during the inquiry proclaimed an absolute miracle.
("First poor Beatrice's youngest, and now you. That's a nephew and a niece I've seen through foul murder. If ever a family were marked for tragedy...") (Poor Beatrice's eldest does not rate a mention.)
But she must have a more permanent home, with someone younger and stronger who can care for a child. How kind of her grown-up cousins to take her into their grand country-house sight unseen! They wrote, you see. She's just misplaced the letter.
Upon her arrival at the front steps of Allerdale Hall, after barely a moment's pause, her cousin Lucille thanks the constable for seeing her here safely and ushers her inside. She doesn't yet know that no child with tattered clothes and fading bruises would have been turned away, even without the letter from their mother to hers that she's clutching like a protective talisman.
The tall man, she guesses must be cousin Thomas. An explanation of the little blonde lady will have to wait, as she's bustled upstairs for a hot bath and something more substantial to wear. Little girls can recieve proper introductions- and explain the murder they absolutely committed, no doubt in any of the Sharpes' minds -once they're wrapped in a warm dressing-gown with a nice bracing cup of tea.
other tidbits about her include:
Rosemary was not her name Before. she chose it herself. her three parents do not know or want to know what her birth family called her, and they picked a middle name for her at her request (Diana)
she falls in love with clockwork and Making Things, becoming Thomas' extremely eager workshop assistant. all her parents, of course, lavish her somewhat haphazard creations with praise. or, you know, as close as Lucille comes to any emotive display that could be called "lavishing"
Lucille is actually the best at the practical realities of child-rearing, of the three adults. after all, she's the only one with experience- even if she was a child herself at the time
left alone with a child, Thomas would be the babysitter kids love and parents hate, who lets them stay up until midnight and eat ice cream for dinner because saying "no" is hard and they're just so cute! Edith is very Oh God How Parent? at first- she expected children, but in the nebulous Future, not right now -but realizing kids are just Small Inexperienced People helps considerably
would the Sharpes be good parents to a normal child, beyond the basic Keep Kid Alive practicalities? probably not. but Rosemary wouldn't get on too well with normal parents, either. so while things aren't perfect, it evens out
Rosemary Loves Dante (the dog, who is NOT dead). Dante Loves Rosemary. this is adorable. you agree.
tl;dr- Crimson Peak OT3 kidfic, ft. the Sharpe siblings' distant cousin who pulled a Merricat on her abusive family. I may never formally write her into a story, but I love to Rotate her (as my friends can attest)

One Big Crazy Loving Bruno Family
(AKA: How the Wonder Stars met Kaylo's family)
The Kids walked down the street to Kaylo's address again. The pink haired girl had invited them over for a small get together to celebrate her getting into the Barnum Naka School of Performing Arts most advanced singing program (a very prestigious matter, even by her standards) and her family was throwing a party to celebrate.
"I wonder if her Aunt is gonna be there!" Leo said. The kids wondered the same thing, after all, Catilin Bruno owned one of the most successful and popular sweet shops in Timeville, and she was Kaylo's aunt. "She probably is. Along with the rest of her family." Emma told him. Rebecca nodded "Yeah! I mean they're probably proud of her for getting in. I know I would if I was accepted into the worlds most advanced art program." She said.
When they finally arrived at the Bruno manison, Mei knocked at the door, waiting for the pink haired girl to open the door, only instead to be greeted by a Japanese man, with glasses on his face and a kind smile. "Hello. Are you friends of Kaylo?" He asked. The kids nodded before he welcomed them into the house. What met them was the loud thumps of music playing from somewhere, as well as a lot of people mingling with each other.
"So you guys made it!" The kind voice of Thea Bruno caught their attention. "Hi Mrs Bruno! Thank you for inviting us!" Emma said "Oh it was no problem, Kaylo was insistant that you came, she's really excited about this after all." She said, helping Catilin Bruno pull a desert cart out. "Yeah. That and it gives her a reason to go nuts with sweets." She said jokingly.
The kids chuckled at her quip before s few younger children came running to the cart "YAY!! SWEETS!!" They cheered before another woman, holding two babies came in front of them "Not Yet. One at a time, we didn't have dinner yet." She said in a gentle, but firm voice "OK Auntie Cherry" the said, but not without one of them grabbing a cupcake. "I see You Lola You're not invisible." She said in a joking voice. The little girl giggled as she ran off, cake in tow.
Leo shook his head at the number of kids that ran through the house, before one of them came up to him and the others "Hi! I'm Haru! What's your name?" She asked "I'm Leo. Are you Kaylo's...sibling?" He asked, confused. Haru Giggled "Nope! I'm her Cousin! Kimi is her sister though!" She said. "My siblings are over there!" She said, pointing towards three other kids, with the Japanese man from before "That's my Dad Koto! And my siblings Hana, Kyary, and Sakura!" She said, pointing at each one.
"Alright! Do you know where we can find Kaylo?" Rebecca asked "She's helping Grandma and Grandpa get ready to come down." Haru answered. A loud wailing got all of their attention "Haru? Can you grab Mia and Tia's bottles please?" The same caring voice from before asked "Hang On! I got it!" A somewhat panicked voice said. "Oh thank you Melody. You really are a godsend." The caring voice said. "Heh...No Problem Aunt Cherry...I've dealt with Finn before, this is nothing." The voice panted out.
"That's Melody, her family and her brother came by to celebrate as well." Haru explained. "Hey...I think I remember her. Ba-A friend of ours said she had met her and her brother before." Trisha Jane said, keeping the part about the Balan Theater, and the maestros that ran it out of the sentence. "Oooooh! Well, that makes one, Melody used to be a big scaredy cat at one point, and then she was seen singing on a stage in front of a lot of people." Haru said.
"Now Haru, stop telling them embarrassing secrets." An older voice said. Behind the kids sat MORE children, the older one glaring down at Haru "I was just saying. These are Jenny, Julie, and Lola." She introduced. "You must be friends of Kaylo. Pleased to meet you." Jenny said, while Julie already began hugging them. "Let's play! Let's play!" She squealed, pulling Mei's hand "Come on now Julie, they're looking for Kaylo, they can play a little later." Jenny said, gently pulling her away.
Julie pouted before Emma crouched down and said "We can play soon, after we find your cousin. Ok?" Julie nodded her head before she ran off with Jenny and Lola. Suddenly, another girl came running down, holding a small game console "Anyone up for a game of Splat Attack?" She asked. The kids looked hesitant before Trisha Jane raised her hand "I'll play you." She said "OK!" The little chirped, before plugging in the console to a nearby TV.
As it turns out...she was good at Splat Attack. Winning at LEAST 6 games. "How?! How are you THIS good?!" Leo asked in shock "Well. I AM a good gamer. Name's Kimi Bruno." She said, a bit of pride in her voice. "Oh! You're Kaylo's little sister aren't you!" Emma exclaimed, remembering what Haru said. "Yep. My big sis is almost ready. She's almost done with Grandma and Grandpa." She said.
"I hope mom isn't giving her a hard time. She has a habit of not wanting to wear her 'important clothes' as she puts it." A older woman said, still holding the two babies "Should...we go up and help?" Leo asked. Another Man (probably another uncle) shook his head "Nah. Kaylo can handle it. I've seen Krista melt whenever Kaylo's eyes get big, and she does the 'Please don't make me cry' look. After that, she does just about anything." He said, while tinkering with a small toy robot in his hands.
"We're coming!" An aged female voice said before a blur came barreling down the stairs "Krista Dear! Wait!" An elderly male voice yelled as a loud "WOOHOO!!" Was heard and an very elderly woman came sliding down the stairway rail "Grandma Krista! You know that you can't do that! Your old!" A familiar voice said. The kids looked up to see Kaylo, along with an older man rush down the stairs to the cackling woman.
"Oh I'm not that old yet! I'm not gonna father Time stop me yet!" She said as Kaylo and the man helped her off the ground. "Kaylo!" Mei called out, getting the pink haired girls attention. Kaylo smiled as she saw her friends Watching the display "Guys!! You made it!" She cheered, tackling them in a hug. "Yep! We weren't gonna miss this!" Leo said as she put them down "I hope my family didn't give you a hard time. " Kaylo said, a small blush on her face
"Actually, They're all really nice. But your sister is really good at video games." Emma said. Kaylo playfully rolled her eyes "Huh...Show off." She said before a Bell was heard "Dinner Time everyone!" Thea said as everyone headed towards the dining room "I guess we'll have to put more introductions on hold, it's time to eat!" Kaylo cheered as the kids followed her to the dining room.
The Brunos may be many, but they really are a large, crazy, loving family

Feeling some kind of indescribable emotion thinking about my family and how physically and emotionally distant we've become...
It's tough because my family is so close-knit and I grew up really close with my siblings and cousins. We went through so much together. So much pain and abuse and loss. I remember making a pact once with one of my cousins that when we were old enough we would rent a trailer and live together and I would take care of the cooking (because I was 12 and I had learnt how to cook Kraft Dinner for my younger siblings)
But then we got older and nobody took the same path I did...I went to university, which nobody in my family had done before. 8 of my cousins and 2 of my siblings didn't even finish high school.
I craved adventure and I traveled as much as I could using money from my part-time job in highschool. I got myself to New York and Mexico.
I moved to a city only a 1-hour drive away from my family for university. Nobody ever once came to visit me. Nobody was ever curious about my life or asked what school was like. They could never remember my major (English literature). Not even my own mother. All they would do is taunt me for getting "turned liberal" and for not making as much money as them
When I graduated I got a job in Japan. Nobody has ever come to visit me. My mother actually told me she doesn't want to come. I don't know....I guess the hubris in me thought experiencing my absence would make my family appreciate me more. That wasn't the case.
They stopped contacting me. My mother and father can go literally 6 months or more without answering any of my messages. Nobody calls, nobody helped pay for my flight the first time I went home for a visit and nobody made time to come see me.
It's like I just lifted right out of everyone's lives. They're still living in the same area we grew up, getting married, having babies, posting transphobic comments on Facebook.
We aren't in each other's lives anymore. It's for the best. But I still find myself wondering why...why am I the one who is different...why did I take the path nobody who I've ever loved can follow? Is it some fundamental part of my character? Would I be the same if I had been born in another time? Or would I be married with children and miserable?
Am I happy now? Why am I so alone? I try so hard but relationships and friendships pass me by like changing seasons...
I don't think I have felt truly "loved" by anyone my entire life. I always knew I was different. I knew I was destined to leave. It's just hard coming to terms with the fact that my absence doesn't impact anyone at all; it never has and never will.
I am insubstantial.

Beth is using the fine grit emery board to smooth out Chris' nails before she starts painting them, and while she might seem lost in her own head, she tilts it at him and narrows her eyes. "Tell me 'bout ya play cousins back home."
The baker glances at Beth's television, damn near entranced by the animation displayed. As much as Chris loved watching Ewan McGregor and Sam Jackson's performances, nothing would ever compare to the perfection that was Gendy Tartkovsky's Clone Wars. Even at 29, seeing the Jedi flip and dash around the battlefield made his eyes widen in excitement.
Chris was happy to know Beth still had great taste when it came to a Galaxy far far away.
This was the best way to begin their weekend. Dinner, laughs and finally working on each other's nails. Usually, he would ask Jess for help whenever she was in town or he'd spend a few hours trying to make them look nice. No doubt taking the elder Riley sibling's words to heart.
Beth's silence means one of two things.
She's either just as engrossed in animated Mace Windu's display of the force. Or she's focused on making sure the paint is even. Honestly, Beth could paint anything on his nails. Clear coat? Amazing. Black? Perfection. Bright colors inspired by her love of the sea? Cinema.
He would be happy to display it.
Upon hearing her question, the baker gives her his undivided attention. His free hand rubs his chin.
Play cousins?
Compared to the Luna's, the Richardson's had a much bigger family. Every pair had a few kids, each just as chaotic as the duo of Chris and Jess. There were even honorary Richardsons thanks to his late father bringing them around all the time.
But two in particular come to mind. The king of chaos, Federico 'Rico' Richardson, and the ever so charming Victor 'Vic' Bennet.
A small smile spreads across his face.
"Oh man," Chris chuckles. "I'm sure you remember the dynamic duo. Vic and Rico? Rico's almost my height? Mustache with a new haircut cut every time he visits? Makes Jess's chaos seem normal?"
He shakes his head with a laugh.
"Vic's not my blood cousin but he might as well be. Not technically a Richardson, but his mom and my dad grew up together so she's sort of an honorary Richardson. He's a little shorter than us but he's handsome. Legitmatly buff. Really charming with the ladies back home...sometimes too charming and it gets him in trouble."
Chris motions to a framed photo of his younger days. Upon closer inspection, one could see an 8-year-old Chris with two friends. All three display a wide bloody smile and hold a missing tooth in their hands.
"Rico's hilarious and always got some kind of scheme going on. Almost like Jess. But his plans are always dumb as hell and for some reason, me and Vic were always ready to support his shenanigans. Like one time, he thought if we all lose our teeth at the time, we could get a little more cash from the tooth fairy."
A small laugh follows, though he catches himself so he doesn't mess up Beth's work.
"Of course, his plan was just for us to rip each other's teeth out using the old door method. Rico honestly let' out the loudest yell."
The baker lets out a nostalgic sigh.
"Vic is always our balance in the trio. Since Rico talks a lot and I can get quiet, he had a good balance of talking. Super smart like you, like he could give you a whole thesis on coding. I guess me and him both have the whole 'big nerdy guy' thing going on, although he's super muscular. Helps he can charm his way into anything."
A pause.
"Although there have been times he's charmed his way into a smooch just for the girl's boyfriend to pop up ready to punch his lights out."
Another laugh and shake of his head.
"They're both really chill about the whole..."
His hands motion to the various grimoires and paranormal items in his home.
"Magic thing. They think it's cool although I doubt they'd want to actually live on the weird side. I don't know...it feels nice to have the normal side accept it. Honestly, they have my back in magic more than the Lunas sometimes...."
Those soft brown eyes scowl for a moment at the thought. But he smiles once he looks at Beth.
"It's no surprise but they think you're cool. I agree wholeheartedly. "
Chris gives her a wink.
"Have you got a chance to see your mom's side of the fam?"

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you're an only child who isn't close with their cousins, cause it really doesn't sound like you understand how siblings work...
Like yeah, Isabela was a huge jerk to Mirabel without reason, but that's actually really normal for siblings - especially with that kind of age gap. Siblings annoy and are mean to eachother without reason - or just because they're lashing out - constantly. I get in fights with my siblings and cousins - particularly my sister 5y younger than me - ALL the time about the littlest things, and we're totally cruel to eachother some days. But at the end of the day we still love eachother and are siblings, and we know that, so there's rarely any sort of verbal apology needed, just a seemingly sudden shift back to being friends again.
And not all siblings fight constantly. Both Isabela and Mirabel definitely seem to be on good terms with Luisa despite not being close. And there are some of my siblings that I've hardly ever fought with, despite being a very intentionally irritating person. But most siblings fight frequently.
Even my 3y younger brother, who our older brother and I bullied relentlessly for about half of his life (like getting this 9yo who was scared of heights stuck in a tree and leaving him there so we didnt have to play with him, almost every day for a whole summer)(I also once poked him repeatedly with a nerf sword for like 20 min until he finally snapped and retaliated {still the funniest thing in my life!}) forgave us long before we'd even thought to apologize verbally. We just realized we were being mean, decided to stop (ok, mostly stop, because he's so easy to tease, but we're no longer malicious about it) and started being friends with him, apologizing through actions subtly along the way. It wasn't for another 5 or so years that we finally realized how horrible we'd been, and when I went to apologise to him he genuinely laughed at the fact that I still felt the need to keep apologizing. Because as much as we bullied him, he also knew that we still loved him all throughout, had understood our actions for the unspoken apology they were, and gets that a big part of being siblings is that "NO ONE is allowed to mess with them EXCEPT ME!"
And from what we see of Isabela and Mirabel's relationship, it's far closer to the purposely just being annoying to lash out/for the sake of it (ex: Isa whiping her hair in Mira's face) irritated smacks on the arm, and "GET OUT OF MY ROOM!!!" shouting matches of most sibling relationships, than my own bullying a sibling experience. And we also only see them over the span of a VERY stressful three days - which they're only fighting for part of - and then a montage of the next few months where they're best friends.
Also, Mirabel isn't completely faultless either. Speaking as a 22yo with 5 currently 14-16yo siblings, I'll put it bluntly and just say that sometimes teenagers are legitimately just the worst. And Mirabel, for all we love her, is no exception. Isabela makes a rude remark, Mirabel throws her own passive aggressive barb right back. Isa gets frustrated and snaps at her, Mira responds in kind. Honestly Isabela was TOTALLY justified in being mad at Mirabel and demanding an apology after the proposal dinner, and yes she could have been nicer about how she went about it, but it's understandable. And its Mirabel who refuses to apologize, turning it back to a screaming match.
Yes Isabela is the older sister, and should have been nicer or at least the one to notice her mistakes first, but they both had a hand in their relationship seeming to be little more than bickering on a good day and screaming on a bad one.
But as the movie shows, within 10 min they're best friends, because they're sisters and that's just how it works. Mirabel had to apologise not just for the dinner, but for her actions in general just as much as Isabela did, and we see them doing so in the subtle ways sibling do throughout the entire song. Truthfully for almost any normal sibling relationship finding something to bond over, a partial explanation of both parties actions, and hugging it out is more of an overt apology than usually happens. Normally you're at eachothers throats, storm out of the room screaming at eachother, then 5min later one of you shows the other a meme or throws a cookie at their head, and you go back to being friends.
You know what I realized? Isabela had no real reason to be mean to Mirabel. Abuela didn’t either but at least she was strict with everyone. (Still not a good excuse though, but moving on). Isabela wasn’t even rude to other people; it was just Mirabel. I get she felt hella pressure due to Abuela, but she was the only person in the family besides Abuela that was openly rude to Mirabel for no real reason. Yeah sure, Mirabel occasionally messed up but that’s how everyone is, and she doesn’t give others a hard time when they screw up. Mirabel forgave her faster than I would have since that was YEARS of unnecessary bullying, but I’m glad Isabela realized the error of her ways.
