The TEA today about Ador Ceo was sad but not surprising. BTS is the story of betrayal by outsiders.

I was surprised when Tae worked with HER for his album. I didn't see that collaboration coming.

I have to wonder if she purposefully misled Tae into a "mid" album. Look, Layover isn't a bad album but its not a masterpiece regardless of what Tae solos believe.

The results are so different between albums like JITB, Astronaut, DDAY, Indigo, Face and Layover its crazy. The depth/personal experience reflected in those albums is undeniable while Tae's was all surface.

Golden is departure and its own thing. JK went for global popstar and achieved/ate!! His choreo reflected his status as part of 3J and his vocals were on display. Gorgeous!!! (Had to add that in because in this house we don't leave out members)

I feel bad for Tae today realizing he worked with a traitor. I will always wonder what he could have released if he had just worked with the Bighit team instead of Ador Ceo.

Sooo... what are you thinking about this inter-hybe conflict between belift and ador? I know you're a nj fan but I think I've also heard you say that people are too quick to call things a nj copy, so I'm curious what you think about mhj's claims. I'll be honest that I thought that what I've seen so far seemed kind of unhinged-main-character syndrome to me but I also don't follow these groups and don't know how deep this goes. Certainly, I think mhj has been very deliberate and successful in building nj's brand, but I found this public argument unnecessary and potentially damaging to both groups. What kind of fallout do you expect?

There's really nothing to say... yet.

News leaked that HYBE has leveled some allegations and accusations at ADOR, most likely based on a tip off, and launched an audit to ascertain if these allegations are true - in HYBE's statement confirming the audit, they don't name the people accused, but the news leak makes a point to name Min Heejin specifically, keeping the name of the VP who is accused of committing the acts unknown.

Min Heejin has responded in an exclusive interview and statement by ADOR, that she's innocent of most of the accusations and that this dispute started because HYBE has refused to curb inter-label plagiarism of her ideas with NewJeans. She refers specifically to Be:lift's new girl group Illit, noting how everything from choreography to visuals to styling to sound is based on her ideas, without proper attribution to her from Belift, nor an apology for what she calls blatant theft of concepts she's developing at ADOR. She accuses Bang PD of being complicit and prioritizing short-term profit over long-term viability of the new groups he's pushing out.

There are reports (unconfirmed) that HYBE has called for Min Heejin to resign. If ADOR doesn't call for a shareholder meeting by tomorrow, HYBE has indicated they might sue. The fact the meeting is being called before the audit is concluded, has all the hallmarks of a textbook corporate power play move, and implies to me something else than what I'm seeing most people here allude to. But still...

...there's nothing to say because what we're seeing is the middle innings of a power play game. There's simply too little info to make any decisive statements.

I immediately get a headache whenever things like this happen in k-pop because, even for more innocuous subjects, there's nobody more mind rotted than the average k-pop stan. And before long we'll have people whose only experience with executive/corporate power struggles is watching Succession, giving us endless takes in endless discourse. And this particular discourse is going to be more annoying because (1) Min Heejin is a woman who is already widely disliked, (2) There's an overwhelming amount of intersectional motives and interests both within and outside HYBE given the nature of the dispute, which typically leads to people infusing moral language into the discussion. It's going to be the HYBE-Kakao-SM discourse on steroids (and even in the HYBE vs SM drama, we had far more information to go on that what's available in this case).

I mean... Anon 3, you're already convinced this is a story of "betrayal", and claiming she is a "traitor", and you're tying a corporate power struggle to BTS. Not like I'd expect to see anything less from most other people to be honest.

This is really a dispute between Min Heejin and Kim Taeho (Belift's CEO), with increased grievance due to Taeho supposedly enjoying Bang PD and Park Jiwon's support and Heejin, supposedly, not.

The fallout, predictably, is going to be nasty. Given all the above. NewJeans is slated to have a comeback next month, Illit is only just ramping down debut activities while ENHYPEN is just starting the final leg of their FATE+ tour. If HYBE is indeed demanding MHJ resign, it's likely they only mean for her to resign from the CEO role but remain as the Creative Director of NewJeans - because the reality is that if there is no MHJ, there is no NewJeans. And it's that reality that in my view, is the primary leverage MHJ has. And she doesn't strike me as the sort to bluff. The worst case scenario is she leaves HYBE completely and NewJeans is put on hiatus, or the members sue to break their contracts with HYBE to follow her while she courts outside investors, similar to the Fifty Fifty situation.

Inter-label competition and drama is expected in a company like HYBE, it's wonderful because it can yield truly incredible results and unique approaches, but also potentally horrible because it can result in cases like MHJ's vs HYBE. There are ways to properly manage this competition to prevent the latter case, but I can't say I've seen any indication that with Jiwon nor Bang have done so. I said above that MHJ leaving HYBE completely is the worst case scenario for NewJeans, but it looks like the scenario most preferable for certain parties given it's one of the only viable outcomes from having this news broken this way. And so, most likely to happen. Unless Bang PD develops some hitherto unseen business acumen... so yeah I'm not holding my breath.

I have nothing insightful to add. My opinions about the suits at HYBE and Bang PD's business decisions for the last 2 years have skewed mostly negative, and that's not changed in this case. I'd rather not share my full opinions because I feel they run contrary to the dominant talking points here, and partly because they're not fully formed and nobody here is paying me to fully develop a view. I'm really not going to do that work for free.

We're all just going to have to wait and see.

What I will say though and something I find particularly interesting, is that HYBE has been accused of what Min Heejin is alleging, since at least the start of last year. Also, Belift in particular has been accused of plagiarism since the start of the year, twice, on issues unrelated to NewJeans. The first was when 'mobiius_music', an indie music producer on Instagram, accused them of lifting his music almost bar for bar for ENHYPEN's 2023 GDA dance break. The second was when Kelley Sweeney, an American choreographer who shares her routines on Instagram and tiktok, accused Belift of using her choreography for Illit's pre-debut practice without credit. Both times it was for low-level offences as it wasn't related to official music releases or album content, and so in that way Belift is better than bigger and more known agencies, but it still reflects a lax vetting process in the best case and unethical creative practices in the worst.

Anyway, my concern is for the artists involved while the suits try to play god with their careers. I can only hope that whatever happens is only the best possible outcome for all involved.

And Ryujin is her fucking Frankenstein at this point, with how many times Sayeon’s brought her reanimated corpse back to life.

Again and again. She scrapes bottom and then digs another two feet deeper and Sayeon’s sure she’ll pay the price for it later down the line but right now the thought of being alone swallows up her typical sturdy reasoning. (She’s cheating life and she knows you don’t get to make that bargain without losing something in the process.)

But it doesn’t matter. Again and again and again, she snaps her fingers and Ryujin opens her eyes. Blue washes over the world as Ryujin’s cells stitch themselves back together across time. Sayeon brings her back to life just to have her spit in her face and trample over her ideals and then wonders why she does it at all.

The alternative scares her more than the reality though she isn’t quite sure why. But she can’t lose Ryujin—she just can’t.

She’ll rewind time as many times as it takes.

i LOVED this episode. it's always so fun to see sayeon from the perspective of the other characters, and iseul up until this point hasn't gotten a lot of attention so it was nice to see his feelings about sayeon more in depth (also more of sayeon just being absolutely unhinged). ik a lot of ppl think isuel is secretly a psycho like the rest of his cellmates and i can see where they're coming from (i haven't completely ruled out the possibility myself), but seeing taeho actively call out iseul's naivety makes me lean more towards iseul just simply being a bit ignorant about sayeon's true nature. it could be both of course but still.

i also wanna talk about taeho for a bit bc as much as can't his draco-looking ass, he's actually kinda starting to grow on me. let's be real, if we were in taeho's position, we would also assume the absolute worst of sayeon's intentions for going to the factory alone, knowing that she's willing to do morally dubious/reckless things to advance her cell. taeho both acknowledges sayeon's manipulative nature yet underestimates her at the same time. he calls her out in episode 60 for her scheming and tells her to stay away from cell 3, but doubts that she'd be able to hold her out against a member of the begonia group. unlike cell 4 and tsubaki and jungwoo, taeho hasn't been able to witness sayeon combat abilities. and the one time she tries to fight her head on, she's saved by min. i also think his status as a member of the gyeons plays into his frustration with sayeon as well. her writes her off as unassuming and weak yet here she is rising her and her cell above his. he has a reputation to uphold as a gyeon and she's essentially making a mockery of him.

lastly, i wanna touch on min's sudden change in behavior towards sayeon. to be blunt, min hasn't really done anything significant outside of episode 62 in regards to protecting sayeon (ryujin ironically doing a better job w/o even trying or really wanting to). seeing him get mad on her behalf as taeho trash talks her was surprising. but it begs the question of if he's doing this for samin or bc he himself is starting to respect sayeon and care for her. when they fight back in s1 he says that she's weak. and in the beginning of s2, he says he doesn't know what samin sees in her. all the members of the crimson society seem to be pretty protective of samin, so it wouldn't impossible that min's annoyance is an offshoot of his feelings towards samin (caring about what she cares about). i'd like this to mean that he's starting to care sayeon but we'll have to find out later.

I feel like I’ve seen somewhere that parents often vicariously live through their child. Even in the most well-meaning, they try to fill in the gaps in their own childhood and protect their child from the things that had hurt them.

So I keep thinking that perhaps Kim Taeho is, in some way, trying to right the injustice done to him through looking after Suni. He was brought into the organisation as a young orphan and trained as a child soldier (SJK is really mean to him and says he has no good points and is full of flaws, but he’s one of the first geniuses to be “carried” - ie very young - into UTS and broke flight records at age 17). His relationship with Sullivan is strained at best and likely cold and distant. Sullivan isn’t a father figure, barely a benefactor, and he was discarded as soon as he stopped being a useful executioner.

Taeho tries very hard to recreate for Suni a childhood he never experienced himself — a warm home, protection, unconditional love, guidance. I wonder how much of that is him trying to save himself. Not just the act of redeeming himself for all the wrongs he was (brainwashed into) doing, but for actually undoing the hurt that was done onto him for making him into a child soldier before he understood what it meant. And how demoralising and despairing it must have felt to have every little mistake lead to the worst possible outcome, as though his attempts of shaking off the past were never going to work.

Suni was his only attempt at living a normal life, and he spent 3 years wallowing in self-pity and trying to get closure for it. His final choice wasn’t just a sacrifice or a commitment to “being good”, but it’s him finally moving forward. He has peers he can call family, he’s no longer by himself, and he finally sees that - even if he lost Suni, who might have represented the wronged childhood he had - there is still an opportunity to live for himself.

min heejin's side: "i did it for newjeans' sake! their future as a group was at risk and the things i said and shared was what i actually saw. i know that what i did in the past was controversial and shady if you see it like that, but this time i am innocent!"

the alleged truth about min heejin and her thoughts of the situation are (overall) what she "said" to me in testifiying form. however, deep inside she is freaking out. her intuition seems in higher frequency than usual (considering that i saw she's very superstitious, that she has a friend shaman and so on) and she really expects the worst to happen.

park jiwon's side: "honestly, i am quite neutral about that situation, but i also did some things that influenced the current drama. i didn't want to do it at first. like, really! but some of the ceos really envy that woman. i really want to move on from it because i realise only now what i did, i am sorry"

the alleged truth about park jiwon is "everything is a business". he is really neutral about min heejin, for this i can believe him. howeveer, he's not sorry for what he did. the only influence i can see for his actions is money as everything to the corporation is related to that. these scandals aren't his favorite thing from him to see and do if he happens to be influenced to do it so but if anyone gives him money, he closes his eyes for that. this seems to be his nature. i am unsure of his family background.. does he have any relatives who are involved in the korean politics?

kim taeho (belift)'s side: "they gave me money to copy newjeans' concept and everything else! i know you don't believe me because i dislike min heejin too but if i had any control over i'll-it's concept, i wouldn't do that! like ever! that's why r u next? was rigged too! because (me incluced) some higher-ups dislike min heejin!"

the alleged truth about kim taeho is similar to what he "said" to me. he certainly didn't want i'll-it to have similar concept to newjeans but he had no choice. the higher-ups allegedly have given money to belift to do that. he tried to make hybe reconsider but they refused, therefore that's why i'll-it debuted .. like that.

bang sihyuk's side: "i did it out of jelaousy and envy! i did it, i am responsible for whatever had happened. i am not sorry about it though, i really hate her guts (note: i am thinking about that line in kendrick lamar's euphoria where he says that he hates this and that..), i really hate her! i am paranoid about newjeans' relevance, it should've been le sserafim or i'll-it! not newjeans!"

the alleged truth about bang sihyuk is similar to park jiwon's mindset - "nothing personal, it's just business." however, that's a karma bang sihyuk has to receive. the karma is the biggest keyword for him this time and i'll say that min heejin is just the beginning.

so sungjin (soumu)'s side: "i don't know what's going on, i am not involved."

the alleged truth.. so sungjin is the biggest liar! he's the most involved in this fiasco! if sihyuk wants to "crush aespa", so sungijn envies her the most! he wanted le sserafim to be successful, not newjeans! he wanted newjeans to be locked in the dungeon and to be treated in similar way as blackpink, not to thrive! he wanted min heejin to have the less popular group, not the second most (after bts; to him it feels like that)!

han seongsu (pledis)'s side: "i really like what min heejin did until now, so i am personally on her side. i don't know what's going on this detailed, if i have to compare my knoweledge with the chairman's for example, but she's not at fault. at least this time."

the alleged truth about han seongsu is similar. he is really clueless why min heejin is attacked, he doesn't know what's going on and is seemingly on her side.

shin youngjae (big hit music's ceo)'s side: "i also don't know what's going on."

the alleged truth about shin youngjae is different. he hides that he know certain things, he's hurt that hybe is in this situation and he dislikes that he cannot do anything. he also seems to be on min heejin's side too but tries to be as neutral as possible. however, he also is manipulated about what he has seen from bang sihyuk and everyone else. shin seems to be very conflicted and possibly too emotional, he accepts his job very deeply and tries to see the truth but apparently, shin has wrong perception about some people. so far i see that bhm's ceo was wrong about who the chairman is.

zico (koz)'s side: "i've been living in a lie, to be honest. i was wrong about who hybe was."

the alleged truth about zico is not much different as he is remembering what hybe showed to him before deciding to become their subsidiary. at this point, he might want to break free from hybe. is zico on min heejin's side? possibly yes, but that's not the main focus for him about the recent situation.

so, why did the issue happened? DETAILED explanation

the reason why it happened is because of lack of maturity from some higher-ups' side. so far i feel there are issues that are far beyond min heejin's existence and possibly even out of it (newjeans included). everyone (with possibly 2-3 exceptions) is very, very competitive and they love the fierce energy the battle for more power, fame, money and etc. they are afraid of min heejin and that's why they want to eliminate her. these who are involved in this battle to remove ador's ceo want bigger percentage of what they win/lose, money and so on. basically, because of more power.

who's at fault?

if min heejin didn't act, this might haven't happened at all, it might've turned to worse situation. even though mhj might've had the upper hand at one point, now it's not like that because of other influences. si hyuk, sungjin and to some extent jiwon and taeho, are also at fault because of how they dislike her (and even more..) as the envy here is really deep inside themselves (sungjin, si hyuk, taeho at some point?, jiwon at some point?).

what could possibly happen?

considering the ceo change in ador, the team in the subsidiary is definitely against it. they are aware what will happen and are preparing themselves in one way or another. hybe, on the other hand, don't want ador to even exist. from quite some time i see ador literally vanishing and the subsidiary being replaced with another one. expect reconstruction in the whole corporation and even revealing more secrets.

when did your muse first arrive in yuseong bay?      as said before, aera was born and raised in yuseong bay! she once dreamed of doing med school in some big city (seoul) just like her big sister that also went there for her university degree and have her little young adult adventures, however in the end she gave up the idea because of certain circumstances in her life. not that she's sad about not leaving yuseong bay anymore!! actually she wholeheartedly sees it as her home; she likes her job and she likes the house that she lives in, she likes (esp!!) the stray cats on the bay and she genuinely doesn't see herself living somewhere else (at least for now).

what does an average day look like for your muse?      she wakes up around 7am, has a cup of homemade matcha latte (recipe from her mother! she wanted to consume caffeine in a "healthy" manner so aera grew up with more matcha than coffee in her life) while attending to the small garden that she has (that was also her mother's!), talks to the plants a little bit so they can grow well and then goes back inside to have a proper breakfast, talks a little with the picture that she has of her parents in their little altar. then she gets ready goes to work after a cheerful i'm going now but i'll be back in the evening! goodbye to them so she's at clinic at 9am. as promised is only back around dinner time; usually she's too tired to cook so she buys dinner on the way or shamelessly stops by the place of one of the elderly couples/people that saw her grow up and knows that they'd never refuse to feed her (as a matter of fact they're more than glad to do so!), besides the company always does her good. then she goes home to watch some drama while doing some crocheting, especially if she didn't have any other opportunity to do so during her day (like having a slow day at work or anything like that); goes to bed around 10pm the earliest, 11pm to 12am the latest.

where can your muse usually be found?      besides work (rip aera and her 10 hours shifts), she can also be seen around the pier around mid afternoon, even more so during the colder seasons, trying to put sweaters (that she made herself) on the cats of the community they have in yuseong bay; goes to daeyanghwa florals every two weeks or so (or when she wants to treat herself a little) to get gardening supplies or new seeds/flowers for her garden and goes to lemon martes almost weekly for groceries because she always forgets one thing or two even with always having her groceries list with her— also enjoys the farmer's market to see the stalls and encountering a familiar face or two. once in a blue moon, she can also be seen in the recreation center trying to start some working out routine that she drops after a day or two.

how does your muse feel about hanhwa resort?      it's a little complicated because as much as she loves the fact that it's bringing attention to yuseong bay and allowing new people to go in and out of the town in a frequency that was never seen before, aera can't help but also feel a little resistant to how it's changing the town that she has known since she was young, after all, she was never good at dealing with change to begin with and if she really stops to think about it, she gets anxious about her own lifestyle being affected eventually (esp because of the higher prices that are only getting even higher); on top of it, she doesn't like the overall way that the resort treats the rest of the city, either like they're an annoyance to their business or as if they were part of the entertainment that they were providing.

is there an aspiration for your muse to stay in or leave yuseong bay?      as said before, aera isn't very good with changes and she has lots of attachments with the town so she has more reasons to stay than to leave. even if she does say that she dreams of a life out of it (and romanticizes the hell out of it), deep inside she feels like the calm and quiet life of a small town like yuseong bay suits her the most and she doesn't genuinely sees herself anywhere else for now. but then it's hard to say how much those desires is from the way she decided to deal mainly with her grief and how much is from a personal desire/want or even if it really matters in the end.

a relevant goal or arch for your character to overcome.      TW DEATH & GRIEF it's been six years since her parents passed away and even though she swears that she's over it, aera obviously isn't. she's still incapable of letting them go. of course that she isn't as depressed as she was during the highest point of her grieving process, but she's also sort of lowkey in denial while clinging to small things that she feels are the only things that she has of her parents (i.e. her house which ends up stretching to yuseong bay as a whole, the necklace she is always wearing that is from her mom's, even her love for match only developed after her mother died, etc etc) so i wished that she'd genuinely move on and cling to her parents' memory in a healthier way/in a way that doesn't stop her from doing things that could want but (maybe) convinces herself that she doesn't (like leaving yuseong bay even if for vacation). END OF TW.      also she's almost ridiculously afraid of ending up alone/feeling lonely so hopefully she'll overcome that and make healthier friendships/be taken less advantage by people just to make them stay 🙏

extra bits !

started crocheting as a way to deal especially with stress related to getting her nurse license and now it's become a habit/hobby, it isn't really unusual to see her crocheting somewhere, even during work if it's a slow day; part of her love language became offering/making sweaters or scarves or keychain sized amigurumis for the people that she cares about (including the community of cats in yuseong bay).

once in a blue moon she gathers enough stuff to sell that at the farmer's market in a very small stall, but it's extremely rare since she has a full time job and usually gives away anything that she makes that isn't for herself anyway.

has a driver's license because her sister insisted that she at least learned how to drive just in case, is pretty ok at it but has no real interest in getting a car for herself.

has a good relationship with her sister even if it'd be easy to assume that they're strained (i.e. big sister doesn't visit often unless it's some special event like chuseok or anything relating to their parents', aera doesn't visit her at all because that would mean leaving yuseong bay, their different personalities, etc etc). they still care for each other and even though big sister can be a little pushy in trying to get aera to move on from the things that she feels like aera needs to, she means well and tries to tone it down when/if aera calls her out in it.

when did your muse first arrive in yuseong bay?      he arrived not so long ago on march of this year! taeho is actually from daegu and at first moved to jeju city because that's where he decided to go to university to, he has been been in jeju city for about two years (this is his third) before moving to yuseong bay. his parents aren't the greatest at parenting (at least not with him) so he's in that transitional moment of trying to heal his inner child/needing some time away from them and going to jeju for university instead of a closer educational institution. however the rent in jeju city is wildly expensive even if it's a dorm room so he was thinking about moving in somewhere else a little cheaper to cut off expenses. even then it still took him a while to find someone that was thinking the same as him and he finally took that last step to move out and here we are.

what does an average day look like for your muse?      he usually wakes up at around 6:30 to 7am (when he doesn't hear his alarm) to do the bare minimum tattoo skincare (as in wash his face and put some sunscreen) and then have some breakfast, get ready to university and then he spends four to five hours seeking higher education. then he usually just goes back home for lunch to either do chores around home (or goes out to do house chores like grocery shopping/get a new shower because his broke, etc etc), assignments or simply to take a nap and eat something before starting his shift at 88&; unless it's monday, wednesday or friday, then he goes to the recreational center to work out for around one hour to two hours before going home to prepare for his shift. taeho does his shift and then goes back home for the night, still prob tries to catch up on an episode or two of any anime he's watching (and then proceeds to regret it the morning after) before going to bed.

where can your muse usually be found?      he's a little of a homebody tbh so it's somewhat hard to see him out of the house unless he has something to do or a friend dragged him out, but if he's feeling adventurous, you could prob find in at andante cafe in the afternoon trying to finish some assignment while having some coffee and a little sweet treat, or the recreation center getting his weekly workout, or on either pierrot's lanes to try out some of the retro arcades or even the memoire antique shop simply to check if someone dropped any old mangas that he might be interested in, very unlikely, but it's something to get him out of the house, so.

how does your muse feel about hanhwa resort?      he's surprisingly neutral about it. taeho does think it's a pity and bad that the local community are losing their space in their own hometown — either because of the higher and higher prices and because the resort is so obviously trying to own it in a way —, but he also sort of thinks it's inevitable considering capitalism how the world is; sort of only hopes that his rent will remain cheaper than the his dorm room in jeju city at least until he graduates and most likely will move out somewhere else or he gets his internship/a job that gets him a little more money than the one he has now.

is there an aspiration for your muse to stay in or leave yuseong bay?      taeho has always seen yuseong bay as the place cheaper than jeju city that he's going to live until he gets his degree. even though he does enjoy the more quiet life (and despises the bad reception even if it gives him an excuse to not call his parents/to not answer their rare calls), i feel like he's a city boy through and through. he can get used to a life there if the need arises (like him getting a job/internship there, or anything like that), but i don't think that he wants to. however he isn't picky nor has this goal of living in a specific place in the end, so i guess in a way if he stays or not in yuseong bay after he gets his degree is sort of a mystery.

describe your muse’s wardrobe.      one word: basic. he's very very very basic. jeans and a tshirt, usually slightly oversized/loose for comfort, in simple colors — nothing too bright (and god forbid neon) but he still wears colors —, simple patterns, simple prints; if he's feeling a little bolder, he'll bring out his anime tshirts. since he has tattoos, he usually is always wearing a shirt or a jacket over his tshirt to hide them (or expose them if he's feeling "safe") since sometimes he does get a little more attention because of them and he just would rather not.

what is a color, word, and emoji that you feel describes your muse?      sky blue, diligence, 😑

three strong likes and dislikes for your muse.      really likes anime, homemade food, coffee / really dislikes spicy food, being the center of attention in a crowded room/space, things done halfassedly.

three talents and shortcomings for your muse.      talents is great with kids and with handcraft things, can fall asleep anywhere at anytime / shortcomings is stubborn in his ways even if it's proven it's not the best way, always pushes himself a little too hard/is too hard on himself, can't ask for help even when he needs to

what is a book/tv series/movie/video game character that you feel your character relates to?      nanami kento from jujutsu kaisen and somewhat sakusa kiyoomi from haikyuu.

a relevant goal or arch for your character to overcome.      taeho has a huge issue with his parents because they were pretty negligent with him but he still searches for their approval/validation/attention anyway and it'd be nice for him to realize that they won't ever really give it to him, not the same way that he does with his younger brother that is so obviously the favorite son, and not be to hung up on it and instead pay more attention to the people that genuinely care for him in his life + having a little more of self worth/love instead of just allowing himself to be taken for granted by others.

extra bits !

his parents obviously had him when they weren't prepared for it and it so obviously show. they aren't the best parents since they don't know how to interact with a kid (even more so when it's their own son) and so they were never close to each other from the start, but at least they tried even if they just ended up treating him as an older kid than he actually was.

things don’t get better when his younger brother is born as the apple of his parents’ eyes, a child that came when they actually wanted one and used the excuse that he was born with a sick body to give him more attention than to taeho (but then things didn’t change when his little brother got healthy later on).

so he learned how to be an adult a little too soon and how to look after himself; surprisingly he doesn’t really resent neither his parents nor his brother for it and he does love them dearly, would die and kill for them, even if the relationship with his parents is still awkward at best.

was always the epitome of the good kid™ (and still is tbh), always well-mannered and too worried about getting good grades and behaving/not causing trouble to really enjoy being just a kid. he was always too quiet to really make a lot of friends growing up.

 as much as he just wanted to chill throughout his school years, he still ended up class president more than once and almost if not all of his group assignments he ended up as the group’s leader because at the end of the day he’s very critical and methodical about things, esp academic work, so he ends up taking charge just so things will be up to his standards. he also has very dependable vibes so people end up relying on him a lot too so in the end he does end up in positions of leadership even if the i in his mbti wants otherwise.

characteristics that he carries with himself to this day. hence why new semester is yet another broken promise that he’ll just chill in group tasks and agree with everything.

did his military service right after graduating high school because the tensions were only getting higher in his house since he started trying to demand more attention to his parents that obviously didn't know/won't give to him and one of them suggested that this would be a good thing for him, that they'd be proud of a son that didn't try to "procrastinate" his civil duties so of course he goes.

which was an experience that gave him a lot to think about his relationship with his parents so when he was done, he wasn't quite ready to go back home yet so he tries an university away from them and that's how he ends in jeju national university.

is a big— huge anime fan, has collections of mangas (that he never completes/drops midway through and reads on the shounen jump app instead), has three tattoos about shows that he enjoys/watches; but is also very lowkey about the merch that he wears/uses (i.e. wearing a sports shirt from an anime team to work out) that makes small references to what he watches, very iykyk thing.

potentially dumb question: you keep referring to bsh being the driver of all of this, but my understanding is that the multilabel system was propelled by pjw when he became ceo in 2021 when bsh stepped back. He’s chairman now and has like 30-something% shares, but why would the blame for the legal strategy and multilabel strategy be placed on bsh? I get that he’s probably personally influential within the company and on the BoD, but could we really say that he’s behind all of these decisions related to this case? He did actively step back, and seemingly it was his own choice. He clearly doesn’t like mhj and is influential but people are speaking like he is the ceo and I am confused

It’s because Bang Sihyuk bears the most responsibility in this situation. He hired Park Jiwon to be CEO, as Chairman and head of the Board of Directors, Park Jiwon answers to him. Bang Sihyuk has given media presentations where he takes credit for implementing the multi- label system. And as Min Heejin revealed during her press conference, he apparently holds tight rein on everything that happens in the company. Meaning in reality, he didn’t actually step back. Also, I initially thought Min Heejin’s dispute was with Kim Taeho (Belift CEO) with Bang Sihyuk as a bystander, but she’s clarified beyond all doubt that this mess started with Bang Sihyuk himself and Park Jiwon.

Bang Sihyuk is a man who likes control. Given he spent 15 years basically micromanaging in BigHit, I didn’t really buy he’d ’stepped back’ as much as was implied when it was announced but I assumed he’d at least focus solely on BigHit and producing for some time at least. But lol, I guess old habits die hard.

I keep saying Bang Sihyuk is singularly responsible for this situation, because that’s what I see to be true.
