Nobody ever asks Declan for advice. Ever. Even before meeting KT, Ben and Leo seemed to go to each other and now they prefer the advice of a mellowed out stay at home dad rather than Dec's. Hell, even he trusts KT's advice more than his own, Dec's not really wise. So when Kai asks him what he should do when they're in Kai's bedroom, Declan is sort of caught of guard. He kinda stumbles over his words and his explanation of what he'd do. If their roles were switched, if they were each other, Declan would think he would go to his dad. His dad kind of sucked and they had issues with each other but now that he's dead, Declan regrets not trying to fix it (he isn't sure if it was his job to fix it, he keeps neglecting to bring this up in threapy). Declan wonders sometimes if the guilt is what made him not fight harder against the arranged marriage, sure he fought against kai but never the actual marriage. Kai goes to Joseph after this conversation and it goes from there, Kai's more confident knowing he has Declan's support.
