ok idk if this might upend your whole idea or your plan or what not and like you don't actually have to consider this suggestion i'd get it if you passed but for the little mermaid au... if you wanna be in both their heads how about like? taking a deep dive into the fairy tale aspect of it and making it 3rd person omniscient? like!! one of them is telling the story!! idk could be fun

Thank you for reminding me that third person omniscient is a thing! I've grown very accustomed to 3rd person limited but you're right it doesn't need to be that way... so I'll give it a try, I guess, and see how it goes :)
